i love all the different tones of artosis he gives us with his channels, even diff from his professional casting...i like the more relaxed nature of it. he's so good at casting
Man I love Brood War nothing calms you like dropping into that jungle tile set and forget about it all. Such a great game. Im so glad I accidentally rented it on N64 23 years ago instead of Starfox.
Just wraiths. The only viable way of disposing of carriers in a blink of an eye, because of their mobility. That's how you stop carrier numbers from growing. Goliaths are too clunky, and can be escaped easily, because of staying on the ground, and being limited in movement.
@@Tobiash87 yep this, i see way too many terran players just spamming factory instead of using terran strength of combined arms. wraiths may be brittle buy they are very useful especially stopping reaver drops
It should be noted that motive for some reason never adjusted to the possibility of continual mass wraith production. Wraiths are destroyed so easily unfortunately with just a few things thrown in for protoss, reliably enough where it would be extremely hard to be a good carrier counter with them.
I'm glad that we are seeing wraiths. I always thought they do huge damage and are super annoying for people. Yeah the laser is almost useless, but the missiles are devastating.
why are they not? It seems relatively straightforward. Scan, wreck observers, wreck carriers, profit. Was it just the surprise factor of the uncommon strat, and Motive sending the carrier fleet off on its on a lot instead of supporting with gateway units? This seems super effective, if a little micro intensive..
True, as soon as Protoss starts deploying countermeasures, the wraith play becomes very tricky. Not impossible perhaps, but difficult to the point of being absurd to continue.
I think that Dark Archons are greatly undervalued in PvT. With just 1 or 2 Dark Archons, Motive could've used Feedback to combat both the Wraiths but also the Science Vessels. I think that a "Dark Archon / Arbiter" combo could be very interesting against terran, since building Arbiters forces your terran opponent to build Science Vessels, and then you take them out with Feedback. Another interesting play with Dark Arcons, in mid to late game, would be to use the Mind Control ability to overtake 1 terran unit (such as a Vulture/Siege Tank/Goliath) being very close to other units and then having your opponents Siege Tanks, being in seige mode, automatically firing at your overtaken unit and thus causing splash damage to any nearby units.
Light may be the most standard Terran player and one of the best to study, but he's been insanely inconsistent over the past year. I'd make a case that Rush is probably giving Light a run for 2nd best Terran, if not already surpassed. (Rush has long surpassed Sharp in performance, I think.)
dude goes 3 starports and no HT in midgame and gets giga punished by wraiths - this was epic and so painful to watch. perfect execution of from light. trauma of the lifetime for motive. HTs later get executed by vultures. man flash just executed all of his strategies so damn flawless. literal executioner of motive.
Every two observers cost as much as a high templar So picking them off actually indirectly adds a lot of value and I enjoyed the wraiths seeing some action, quite an interesting game
I'm trying to figure this out too. Only thing I can come up with is that once the cat's out of the bag, 'toss can take more care to ensure that the carrier group is used as more of a supplement to the main army instead of its own little expansion strike force, and so the fact that the wraiths have to fly over 30 goons makes them too squishy to be effective anymore. I honestly wonder if that is where Motive err-ed here. If he'd have just kept his carriers mutually supported with dragoons and used them as air support for his gateway unit engagements with the mech, I think he could have massed more carriers and gotten way better results.
It's easy to figure out. Terran will always need tanks to fight Protoss, so having to devout any more gas to build more starports, air upgrades, wraiths and wraith upgrades becomes very costly. Even if you manage to keep the wraith build up a secret and execute the attack on the carriers, you still have to contend with the protoss ground army, which unlike goliaths, wraiths can't do at all.
@@bobmoandfriend When the wraiths were first shown, he lost around 3 carriers to them. Pretty bad, but he then had 4 more carriers later on that were again picked off and this time without a trade. If he had just kept them around the cannons they would not have died so easily and he would have had storm to secure a push against Light's 3rd once again. He simply didn't see them and didn't micro, that was when his game was over.
Corsairs vs Wraith wouldn't work. Goliaths would pick off the short ranged Corsairs in less than 3 seconds. Also the wraiths are a bit more mobile than the corsairs and dance around them while the goliaths take them out.
I feel like good wraith micro is the last great frontier of PvT. I feel like if you were on top of everything (scans, cloaks, targeting observers) you could keep toss totally zoned the fuck out to an unreasonable degree. You'd either force insane numbers of obs or make P the turtle race with islands of safety around their cannons.
my favorite part of this cast was when artosis said "FUCKING PROTOSS NOOB. WE HAVE FOUND THE WORST PRO PLAYER EVER. THIS IS DISGUSTING. ALL PROTOSS ARE TRASH."
So Terran wins again, because they can freely detect anywhere anytime with the cheaty ComSats, while Protoss' only detection is through super slow observers.
artosis, a little suggestion, I watch your video literally every night before i go to bed, would be better if you can post videos at higher res (eg 1440p)
worse protoss then me and i am not even pro and played like 10 years ago last time. he lost like 10 carriers due to not use them properly at beginning of fight. no reason to go with carriers away from your main army when it can support you. and also wrights are no weak or expensive. they are flying mechs and that pay off even without invisibility.
Motive isn’t a bad player but he didn’t change his playstyle properly as he did his Carrier play like he was facing standard mech where the carriers can go solo and use high ground advantage to pull out the Terran mech army and still easily survive as he can expand and do counter attacks and such. Motives fault was instinctively trying to play like that despite the constant threat of cloaked wraiths and his one robo producing 1 observer at a time was to be pure countered by the wraiths. Bad play by Motive perfect execution by Light.
i love all the different tones of artosis he gives us with his channels, even diff from his professional casting...i like the more relaxed nature of it. he's so good at casting

Those wraiths with the scans killing obs and carriers was pretty dope
Type shi gameplay
That wraith play was beautiful
That EMP in the end deserves more credit and applause.
That was devastating. Hit four templars.
“TvP is a fantastic matchup on this map”
Oh how times have changed haha
“Protoss wr on this map is gross “
,,,
I love this 3 year old video. I think arty was at the peak of getting chills you can feel it in his voice
Seeing all those Carriers get wrecked is both painful, as a Protoss player, but also strangely satisfying
At 3:20 when Artosis says “OOOOOOO”, that’s when I subscribed.
yea thats not creepy
love this ! give us more varied gameplay by pros
Nice game and cast. Light... what a boss.
So much back and forth! Awesome showing from both players.
It is a rare case of protoss being able to produce a lot of carriers and still loose.

really like Light's strategy on this one.

Very true, but if Protoss doesn’t go heavy air they become almost useless.
Saw him pick off a few templars, not a totally useless laser.
This game makes wraiths seem like the natural counter to carriers. Super cool

@@bobmoandfriend Protoss can just get a few extra ovservers, then as RT said just 3-4 corsairs will wipe the stackec wraiths instantly

11:10 lol prism
Corsair + disrupter web woulda been a decent addition to toss army
yeah just like wraiths i see too many protoss not using the tools blizzard gave them to succeed.
Thank you for posting these!! Love the insight and it’s a great way to spend my lunch break
Wraith was my most favorite unit when I was a kid..
love seeing wraiths, a way under used and underrated unit, i can see why though they get destroyed so fast because of their large unit size.
At Least T can fight back on this map. Thx for the content bro
@ArtosisCasts, you should totally post full bo3-5-7 series when the tournament gets to later rounds!!!
I really needed to see a good way to handle carriers. Gg😊

this is some good shit man, protoss insisted in a failed strategy

Wraith reporting in.
Light makes Terran look so broken. What a boss
Dan you lied to me. You promised me on stream that you would never miss a day of casts. And then it happened..... My life is in shambles...
wraiths always, it seems to me, to be the obvious counter to carriers. im baffled that people bother with goliaths instead of wraiths
