I had brain fog in addition to digestive issues and GERD. I’m also non celiac gluten sensitive. I started a Keto diet and felt better within a week. I then added intermittent fasting. I eat at 11am and 5pm. I do not eat cane sugar. I use Stevia. I feel like a new person. No constant hunger pains or cravings. No digestion issues or GERD. I feel full eating wholesome foods. So, low carbs and no sugar have changed my life giving me energy, no brain fog, and weight loss.

I also have celiac disease. I started taking L-Glutamine because it supposedly cured "leaky gut." I was sort of skeptical whether leaky gut actually existed, but I figured "why not?" Within days I was thinking more clearly. It cut down on my acid reflux, but the most amazing thing was that it helped with my high blood pressure. I had been taking 40 mg of Lisinopril, and within a few months cut it down to 5 mg, because my blood pressure kept going down. I think this was all caused by healing the intestinal lining, which prevents molecules from getting into the bloodstream which cause allergic reactions, inflammation and anxiety. It's an over-the-counter supplement. Since it is just an amino acid, it is totally safe, in any quantity.
Abstaining from alcohol and weed for a while to reset is also a big plus. I don’t want to be 💯 abstinent but I definitely benefited from abstaining for 120 days ish. Making it more of a special occasion thing… bc weed and alcohol mess with sleep real bad.

You missed the importance of the barefoot running/earthing. Earthing balances the body to a cellular level and decreases inflammation ( including in the nervous system ). Fish oil, avocado oil, MCT oil, and olive oil are also helpful in decreasing brain fog.
I tried an experiment once, just gently walking barefoot for 30 days, then another 30 days in 3mm rubber barefoot shoes that weren't grounded, and I didn't see difference in terms of inflammation. Obviously, barefoot feels better, which can improve your mood and make your more aware, so that's the most important benefit for me. But yea, love me some avocado oil!

Being a boomer, many, many of our generation became very debilitated with chronic fatigue syndrome. The brain fog was a consistent symptom reported by almost all people experiencing this condition. Like you, I also went many years with this illness, and I ended up trying all kinds of health regimens to try to overcome it. Anyway, there will be different remedies and regimens that will work for one person, but not work for another person. One bit of wisdom I could share is that each person carries a certain propensity for food and/or environmental allergies (for ex mold or mildew). This correlates with fasting as being a big key, because when u are fasting then u are not ingesting the food or foods that trigger the allergic reaction. Also, another thing to consider is that nowadays, after petrol-based chemical manufacturing began to come on strong in the early part of the 20th century, many of these petrol-based chemicals that are added to foods (for ex preservatives) could also trigger an allergic reaction. It is a known fact that all petrol-based chemicals are carcinogenic, except that it's in varying degrees. The govt allows them to be added to foods, but only those chemicals with a lower risk of causing cancer.

I will just say that mold or bad indoor air is often the biggest unknown culprit for brainfog etc. If you feel stuffy, have hard time breathing trough the nose for example in the mornings, your house might be moldy. If you feel better on vacations outside your home, this might be one clue. If you have a mold problem, you might often get an allergic reaction even from your clothes for a while if they have been always in the apartment.

Yea, I know just what you mean. When you're burned out the last thing you want is some ultra serious life-or-death type video. Keeping things fun/playful is the best way to get out of a hole, in my experience. Just focus on one small habit at a time until you get it "hammered down"" and then move onto the next one. Finished a strong Chemo protocol last year and by the end i had lost a lot of memory recall and even names of people I’ve known all my life. Horrible brain fog. “I recognize you but what’s your name?” Horrible situation. So decided to step away from my cautious, ‘no pills’ policy (rarely take anything for any reason) and I began researching nootropics. Yea, there are so many things that can improve or worsen brain fog, so you just have to experiment. I'm taking L-Tyrosine. right now too for thyroid health, although it's hard to tell what effect is has.
I know I’m that weird guy, but much of your recipe actually is biblical. Rest, eating whole natural foods, and fasting are all major focuses God tells us are good for us. 4yrs ago I was an atheist and thought all this stuff was made up propaganda. If you have hypoglycemia, or any other issues that give you trouble keeping even blood sugar, you should still eat breakfast. Don't wait until you're already crashing to eat. Intermittent fasting is good for some people, but you have to be careful. Personally, I eat breakfast when I wake up, and start my day slowly so I have time to wake up and digest my food. If I don't eat breakfast, I'm far more likely to have brain fog, depression, and anxiety.
For me I have to decide if the brain fog is worse or better than being fat. If I don't intermittent fast, then I gain weight, and get a fatty liver. This happens because I have a low thyroid.
All I had to do was go gluten-free. :) Took a few months to notice the brain fog was gone, but with that and all the other benefits I got, I'd never go back.

You can do it yourself and see if it helps, but you have to do a lot of research beforehand, because gluten is in a lot of things you wouldn't expect, like soy sauce, and if you are going to do it, you kinda have to be perfect, because even small amounts can pull you back to square one/have symptoms that last for days, negating the prior work you might have done. So you really have to commit, as there are no cheat days or half assing with a gluten free diet. You don't need a doctor, you can try it yourself and see if it works, but you really need to commit to it.
Do 45 min hard aerobic workout 2x per day 2-3 days per week. It seems to hammer out the cobwebs in my brain whenever I do it. I go from being dumber than everyone else to smarter than everyone else which lasts around a week. I first noticed the effect back in jr college when my grades went from B- avg to A+ honor roll effortlessly just by riding my bike to/from school 11 miles each way 2 days per week.
Right on! Yea, exercise has a hugely positive impact on your ability to think clearly/efficiently. I go for a run in the AM and a walk in the PM and always feel jazzed afterwards.
I agree about exercises. I am 80 year old female and walk every day. And rowing machine. Today I walked 10,000 steps. If I dont go out and walk I feel so sluggish.
I know it's hard to make videos like this b/c they are heath-related. It's great to see that fasting helped many people, but I've been on intermittent fasting, exercising regularly, sleeping 8+ h/day for over 4 years and haven't seen any improvement. Yea, there are so many factors that can create brain fog. Unfulfilling careers, toxic relationships, systematic abuse, technology addiction...the list goes on. But you just keep making little tweaks every day, and bit by bit the pieces start coming together.
Have you had your bloods done? I had the same issue and found my testosterone was that of a 95 year old. 6 weeks after beginning TRT and feeling pretty good. I would still advise the intermittent fasting in conjunction, autophagy is the healer/prevention of most ailments.
Thank you for all of this information and a great list! Another detail to add to your list is B1 Thiamine plus all the B vitamins. I got this advice from a nutritionist online. When you are deficient in B1, you don't have the spark plug to ignite your energy. A - B Complex vitamin - really helped me out when accompanied with your many items on your list. I shared all of your brain fog problems for 30 years! It wasn't until I was 45 when I started solving the brain fog issue. General doctors did not see this as a problem that could be solved 20+ years ago and I didn't have the funds to go to a naturopath or nutritionist (fields where practitioners do have solutions for this problem). Consider yourself lucky you are young at a time when there is so much information out there. When I was your age sonny (kidding), even doctors had little advice that would move the brain fog needle.
Yea, it's funny, I sometimes think: "Damn, I'm so far behind in life...I should have started figuring out this health stuff ten years ago!" But the reality is, you're still ahead of the game starting at 45, because most people don't even begin to take their health seriously until they're 70+, and other people never do it at all. Good news is, if you're determined, things can start changing real quick!

Ive had brain fog for 10 years. It almost took my life a couple of times but i managed to keep going. I came from a lifestyle with drugs, alkohol and a ton of girls and fame from tv show in Scandinavia. I remember now when i heard you talk about fasting that i had moments of clarity and fokus that gave me a hunger for life again. My mentor told me that he felt something about interm fasting. I tried it for a few weeks which helped me. Then i stopped and have not tried since. My point is that ive had suicidal thoughts this summer because the fog has been terrible. I have had brain fog on and off pretty much my whole life. I haven't had such a hard knox life as you have had but to me it seems that you're switching back and forth between your old life style and your new one, which is perfectly normal. In my personal opinion everyone wants to aspire to something. So the only thing you need is some sort of inner force or drive, a good, well thought out plan that helps reach your goal and a good mentor or guide to help you remember why you want to reach that goal and to guide you through tough times. @Milan Velky Yea, we had the same thing in the US of r awhile. Ironically iodine in table salt is basically pointless, because almost all of the iodine is gone by the time it reaches a person's home. Better to get it from sea veggies, like kelp.

I’ve had people my whole life tell me to eat breakfast and I don’t like it it slows me down and I like being hyper and productive; start eating about 2 PM and get two meals I don’t snack Because my meals are healthy no sugar low carbohydrate organic free range yummy no cravings I cheat once a week once every couple weeks and I feel it in my body the next day😮

It has been over a decade that I was also like this without being aware of what it is. I just have this gut feeling that something is wrong with me and I have to fix myself. @helenholdsworth6407 the real way to test iodine is to rub it gently on ur skin If it loses color after 2-3 hours ur body needs it, getting the right iodine is the big problem, the iodine in the last 10yrs just my experience is not good. I know you produced this two years ago Andrew but just saw it today and immediately downloaded it! Such great info! I watched another UA-cam video by a neurologist where she said that her sleep apnea patients were all deficient in vitamin D3 and B1 (Benfotiamine) along with other B vitamins. I started taking the D3 and B vitamins in the morning and this was a big game changer for me because evidently this combo creates melatonin all day long as long as you have early morning light (evidently early morning light is a different wave-length than sunlight later in the day). At night I take Magnesium before bedtime and these 3 supplements (D3, B1, and Magnesium) are the big brain repair vitamins. Huge game changer for me. You have to take the D3 and B1 (Benfotiamine) with fat in the morning as this helps these vitamins absorb into your system. But Wow! Huge changes for me.

Interesting video. If you take iodine (preferably bio kelp algae) in the morning, you need to take selenium in the evening to avoid damaging your thyroid. But the main key besides fasting is: carbohydrates are the worst for us. We need to eat more fat and less carbohydrates. But no seed oils!
Yea, I was supplementing with selenium at one point, but it bothered me digestively, so I'm just eating three brazil nuts per day. Do you have a form of selenium you like?
A great idea for the morning: Instead of fasting completely, try fresh pressed juice. It's got tons of nutrition and is extremely easy on your body to digest. It takes almost no digestive energy but will provide your body with vast amounts of nutrients for the day. Don't have sugary artificial juice though. Try juicing at home!

My understanding is that brain fog is just inflammation, so anti inflammatories will usually do the trick. Fasting yes most definitely, but also stuff like turmeric, garlic, and especially ground/earthing (via a grounded bedsheet) which for many people is literally life-changing, as it was for me as well (cured my life-long persistent life-threatening allergic asthma). Grounding is the ultimate anti inflammatory, and there's no shortage of scholarly research proving that as well. Facts.
@@AndrewFolts That'll do it my friend. As long as it's something you're doing regularly, or so I understand anyway. When you're positively charged from being short on electrons your body acts like a magnet, sucking them up like mad from the earth and healing those inflamed tissues.
@@muratsenturk83 Inflammation can strike anywhere and cause all sorts of symptoms. Inflammation in the head area specifically, when it goes acute, can also result in headaches. If you feel "full" in your head, like congestion, and you're confused and a bit depressed, it's likely inflammation. Easy way to find out: get some cold medicine with pseudoephendrine and if that clears your head then you have inflammation.
Brain fog is a big feature of Gilbert's syndrome, which is a liver function illness. You end up with high levels of circulating Bilirubin, which causes brain fog and fatigue, plus memory and concentration problems. There are always big lists of symptoms on various Gilbert's syndrome websites. It isn't curable, but knowing about it can help. After any blood tests, doctors always advise cutting down on your alcohol intake, even if you are tee-total, because your liver function blood results are usually all over the place.
Yea, liver function is very important for detoxing and brain function. No doubt anyone can benefit from cutting down on alcohol, because it's a disinfectant, not a beverage.
Nice! Wouldn't recommend coffee on an empty stomach, though, since it's extremely acidic and can damage the lining, plus mess up your pH level. I'd go with something gentler, like mushroom blends to start the day, then have your coffee later with a meal.
I really liked how you presented your video with your discovery information. I have a rare disease that can cause me to crash, collapse, have a fully body(not brain) seizure, followed by periodic paralysis for hours or even days when severe. Can't move or talk. So I did a lot of research. Doctors didn't have a clue... well, it was rare like I said. Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis. Here's what I've discovered. My body energy can only last for so long then I can crash. It's like having a bad battery that doesn't hold a charge. It depletes quickly, so I can't expercise because it uses up energy. I can't get too excited or anything that causes my heart to race or adrenaline to pump overtime. Then crash. So, my discovery was... Raw Foods. When I tested out eating pure 100% raw foods I had natural energy empowering my cells and enabling my body to retain energy much better. It was like day and night. If I eat cooked foods it doesn't give me all the nutrients and enzymes like pure raw foods. What I also discovered was that i do not need three meals a day and all the snackies. I cannot eat anything with white sugar or caffeine or I will crash. Only purest of garden foods and no processed anything. So, now I know when I eat only one meal a day I actually function much better. That one meal is loaded with nutrients. My system is not taxed with extra food that my body does not require. Fasting is such an important thing to do. It's like rebooting your computer. Our systems need to shut down for three days to be rebooted. There was a film put out about a boy having seizures, that the remedy could have killed him. It's called, First do no harm. In it the doctor told the mother of the child to not allow the boy to eat for three days. It's interesting because the bible talks about fasting. There are reasons for this. Our bodies need a rest from the chaos and it needs to remember its original functions. For me, this is what's worked to keep me sustained. It's helped me function better and get the very best I can get, energy-wise, from my body. I wish I could say I am healed, but that's going to have to be a miracle. I believe in miracles, and will keep searching for that key. God knows what it is... now I just need to discover it. Raw foods... it's all God-created food, so I know it is good. Right from the beginning... the garden of Eden had it all. Simple. We don't need supliments, we need real raw foods with all the nutrients already in it. Why raw? Because heat kills enzymes and depletes a lot of the nutrients. It's like secondrate supliments rather than toprate... raw foods. It doesn't get better than that.
Yea, I've struggled with the same themes, though not as severe as you. Lyme disease and thyroid issues, which both result in energy deficiency. Raw foods definitely help, but it can be very challenging to figure out what works-so just stick with it, and you'll keep getting better, insight by insight. (:

I wanted to brag how growing beautiful beard cured my brain fog but I shaved this morning. Anyway, tip for those who's affected by coffee: drink it with a proper amount of good fats. Coffee is rich of polyphenols that kind of needed to be consumed with fats. Dark chocolate that is being mentioned is already balanced because it contains cacao butter in itself. As for coffee, you could enjoy it with coconut cream, nuts, avocado, lactose-free cheese, buckwheat with coconut oil... That's soooo good, I drink 2 espresso every day and it never ever ever ever affects me. And of course, drink enough water with it, too. That's what I've discovered for myself so that may be useful for someone. Of course we are all different but my sisters f.e. take coffee badly. Guess what? They never compliment it by healthy fats.

We all know iodine-selenium relationship but not many people know that eating too much cruciferous vegetables will throw your iodine levels to its lowest.

@@AndrewFolts no, it's absolutely not much. If it's not Giant Alice in Wonderland's CUP! when I ate 500-1 kg of raw broccoli/cabbage a day that was a lil' too much, I guess. Now as I am back to my extra-mini-portions again I won't encounter such a problem but for those who eats a lot well I guess it'll make sense to increase iodine intake to compensate. Apart from interfering with iodine, cruciferous are cool f.e. Indole-3-carbinol helps us with estrogen metabolism and hormones functioning is well I'd say one of the most important thing for both sexes. Stumbled upon your channel by your XERO shoes review. How similar could one's improvement journey be. It used to be the same for me in college, super stressed out, caffeine and smoking. I didn't realize what was wrong with me, but you coined this term 'brain fog'. So that's what it was. I have begun quitting a few months back and it has made all the difference. I do everything you just mentioned in the video, running(barefoot sometimes), e-ink reader, sleeping on-time, procrastinating less. Except for fasting, I can't not eat in the morning. I’m finishing my PhD in neuroscience… my brain fog gave a lot of trouble this semester… I’m actually in trouble I need to write an additional paper out of 4 for my dissertation… my brain fog delayed all my next year plans… it suck you can’t imagine the suffering my only solution in addition to running 10 K 3 times per week was to get out of my Appartment and write in a library in schedule (since I’m writing and finished my laboratory work I don’t have to go to the lab or university ) so home worked for 2 papers but not for 3 or 4… so that’s that… I’ll be applying getting ready for running the night before, writing from 4-7 am, running 7-9, writing 9:30-noon…. Lunch and writing from 2-5… let’s see… this is going to be my December 2022-January 2023… dissertation for February!
Yea, I start every day with a run and it does help a lot to get the blood flowing. The key is consistency. You find a couple things that work and make sure to do them every day, then experiment and build other tiny habits on top of those. Inch by inch, the brain fog will go away. (:

Sleep, yes! Kindle, yes! These things have helped. When I had through study as well as trial and error figured out the things that caused and alleviated brain fog it still took time to get them into habit and under control. Somewhat ironically, being very busy helped me get ahead of brain fog as I couldn't not be ready for things and after a while I was forced to be a good boy
Hmm. I went down a similar path before. I started keto and then intermittent fasting to treat my GERD, but after 2 years my body crashed. Fasting or low carb made me feel worse every time I tried it. I’ve tried a bunch of things in between but right now I always eat breakfast, I get most of my energy from carbs, but besides my starchy staples of rice and potatoes, I tend to get almost all my sugar from fruit rather than pastries or other refined sources. I also eat fruit like apples and bananas along with beans and psyllium husk for soluble fiber. I’m still working on fixing my sleep and some days are better than others, but at least this approach doesn’t make me feel as terrible as fasting or low carb. I have some ideas on the mechanisms behind all this but it gets quite complicated. I guess my point is that this approach doesn’t always work for everyone.
Yea, low-carb never worked for me, either. If you're crashing after skipping breakfast it could be you didn't get enough nutrition and/or sleep the night before. But the most important thing is that you listen to your body and just do what works-no one's the same. Also...TEAM PSYLLIUM HUSKS! (:
With the coffee truck I find you have the first sip, Chuck the middle and then have the last sip. Only takes a few times and the coffee cravings go away after a few days. For me it’s the last sip that tells my brain I’ve had the coffee. Hope that’s useful for someone.
4:15 this was actually the switch that flipped for me to finally try LSD back in early December. Of course it was a confluence of things building up to that decision, but I'd been considering it vaguely for a year or two. I picked up on your videos not long before that and felt like your ideals mirrored a lot of mine, so all just made sense in that moment. I love how I can now forever pinpoint this as the moment I decided to go into that world. I've already learned so much about myself from it. Even just in terms of barefoot running, it makes it so much easier to shed the cushioning because it feels totally unnecessary to begin with, and then to gradually orient your brain and body towards that new mode of thought The only downside is I've been struggling with a meniscus tear since last June which still hasn't properly healed, so I'm in this spot where I have all this newfound joy for running and movement but don't have the capacity to express it all. Hopefully it works itself out
That's so cool! I was trying to think if there was a moment when I decided to do LSD for the first time, but I think it was just reading a bunch of Reddit posts, ha! Can relate to the awareness that it brings to barefoot running, though. I think it tends to strip away modern nonsense, so there's always a greater connection to primal things. I've had what I now suspect is Lyme disease for the past two years, and running has been impossible at times because of joint pain, especially now during the winter, so I feel your frustration literally. Take it slow, and you'll be back to it in now time!
dude when i go to bed on an empty stomach and in a fasting state and wake up the following day, my brain is fucking on a roll. i could literally program everything with a snap of my fingers and all the speculations as to if somethings wrong with me goes away. i’ve been fasting for the past two years that i’ve stopped fasting the past two weeks subconsciously and have realized the impact it’s had on me and how beneficial it’s been to me

Hey Andrew, thanks for your insights. After 11 years of battling brain fog, I have concluded pretty much the same list of remedies (minus taking psilocybins although I have read micro doses can be quite effective in depression etc). Fasting is indeed the "mac daddy" of the cures; I totally agree. There are two things I would add to this great list: magnesium and ice baths. Ice baths are no easy feat to jump into consistently, but it does wonders over time.
Maybe I took too much, man, but everytime I tried lsd and shrooms it kept me up for days and I would just be paranoid, get socially anxious, and cry like a cranky baby. There was some study that came out that said early intermittent fasting had some superior benefit than later intermittent fasting, which sucks because I'd rather skip breakfast. Thanks for the video. My brain fog is due to mold at work and home and a naturopath put me on dessicated thyroid. That seems to be helping
Yea, could be it was too much. If you're already an HSP (highly sensitive person), then you only need a very small amount of psychedelics, or maybe none at all. I remember Bjork in an interview saying she never takes drugs, because she's basically already on drugs naturally 24/7. Also, take studies with grain of salt, because for every one that says "A" you can find another that says "B." Just do what feels right for you. (:

I wake up with pain and brain fog (probably fibromyalgia). By the afternoon I feel much better. So I skip dinner, and keep eating a breakfast in the morning and lunch at noon and this way I also feel much sharper by the evening. Just leaving it here as a variation ;) . (Due to the pain, I must admit that even with all the tricks, I just can't get myself to concentrate, but that's fine too, life is what it is. Stress only makes it worse :) )
Yea, I can relate, I've been dealing with Lyme for the past three years. Being in pain all the time can definitely drain you, so every little trick helps.

I could see applying at least one or more of his remedies. The psychedelic thing was interesting. I dropped acid maybe six times in my life over a 4 year span and there was a sense of renewal afterwards that lingered. I was 18+ my first time using and generally it was positive.
I found that Magnesium also helps. I do intermittent fasting and drink a glass of water with 2 tbl spoons of apple cider vinegar. It helps for the food cravings in the mornings. I removed sugar from my eating plan as well.
Yea, brain fog is rough. But if you pick one small habit and work on it daily, you'll get sharper real quick. Morning fasting, especially. That's why it's called a "fast." (:

I wear vivo geocourts in my day-to-day life. I’m currently running in Merrell gloves! I’m extremely happy with barefoot running and I wouldn’t have known where to start (or probably even have started in the first place) without your videos! So kudos to you, your videos are an automatic watch.
Niacin can also help, especially with long cid 19 Also breathing techniques and anxiety relief can actually help too. As for me, these two things provided some relief so far. Also, eating low glycemic foods helps. I guess in some ways that's similar to fasting, because your blood sugar is stable.
I was helped with the iodine also but (I have low thyroid) I also added a Potassium supplements. I must take a few per day.. It helped a lot. I now can go all day without falling asleep.

Yea, I stopped eating gluten for about a year and it definitely helped. Couple months ago, discovered Einkorn, which is an ancient, un-hybridized variety of wheat, and it has much less gluten. Been making sourdough with no ill effects.

@@fumanboy try going gluten free for a week & see if you feel better. Try it for another week, then a third week - if you're feeling much better by this time then make it a lifestyle choice! I don't have to avoid gluten completely but I can't have it more than twice a week or it "settles" in my joints & it'll feel like arthritis all over my body. It was such a relief to find out the cause of my pain & it's such an easy remedy. No arthritis doctor will tell you this information as they want your money $$$$!!!!
I would add two things that did the trick for me, one is stop worring, just stay sit for a couple of minutes thinking only in what is going allright in my life, even the simple things like my survival is garanteed makes a huge relief in the subconcious mind. also, and kind of tied with the previous one, meditation, empty your head and for a couple of minutes stop thinking you are a programmer, dad, son, citizen, just relax, enjoy the feelings of your skin with your clothes, the sounds, the fresh air, etc. god bless you all !
On point! Simply pausing for a few seconds or a few minutes is such an underrated tool for dealing with stress and brain fog. Sometimes I even crawl in bed and just lay there, so as to bring my body to a place of rest, so I can put all my energy into sorting out what's bothering me. Cheers!

Hey Matthew, usually I'll drink a little water, then go for a walk or run. After that I work until noon (fasting gives me clarity) and eat a big lunch for my first meal.
I went on the ketogenic diet last 50 lb of fat it was the best thing I ever did I have 10 times more energy than before everybody should try it it also has intermittent fasting which is great
Thanks, yo! I switched back to a balanced diet for winter, it was just impossible to generate enough energy on raw food living in NY where it's freezing cold. I've been on a low-carb type diet for four years and it certainly helps, although the two things that help more than anything are fasting and kelp (for iodine). Carnivore intrigues me, but every time I try it I end up feeling sick with acid reflux and slow metabolism. My body seems to crave more alkaline foods (celery juice, low-sugar fruit, leafy greens, etc) to balance out the acidity and lack of fiber.

Organic leafy greens and other alkaline (non-acidic) veggies and fruits, like pear, apple, green beans, squash, avocado. Sprouted (soaked) nuts, seeds, and pseudo-grains, like quinoa, buckwheat, lentils, chickpeas, walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds, etc. Those would be a good place to start and then try eliminating groups on at a time (like seeds, etc) if you still have problems.
@@AndrewFoltsNice, you planning on going raw again in the spring?The main thing I believe with reducing fog is what most of these diets do which is what you leave out that is the main thing. The main allergens dairy, gluten, eggs, and the all processed foods. I even think things like white/brown rice and other grains is worse on digestion than meat. Also there is definitely something about fasting which helps as well
@@legoninja2468 Yea, I try to avoid heavy starches, like white/brown rice, because they gum up the digestive tract without providing much nutrition. It's pretty common to do a raw vegan type cleanse in the spring for a lot of cultures, so yea, I'll probably play around with it again.

Hey Ashley! I've tried microdosing with LSD and psilocybin before, but I found it too distracting for every day life. Like you said, it just kind of gives you brain fog. Personally, I get better results doing a full trip once every six months or so, then integrating those insights sober. You might have better daily results with herbs like ashwagandha or lion's mane mushroom, which give an energy and concentration boost without the chaotic nature of psychedelics.. (:
I think chronic stress and sleep deprivation are two main causes of brain fog. It feels like i can’t think or i have lost my mind. Currently i’ve been having headaches without reason too.
Yea, it's crazy how fast the fog comes in when you're sleep deprived. Headaches might be dehydration...or over-hydration (i.e. too much water without enough electrolytes).. Caffeine and sugar can do it too.
Very helpful, intermittent fasting is a great idea. Another thing that helps with energy for some people is potato starch, a tablespoon a day dissolved in water. It is a resistant starch that is a prebiotic, which causes gut bacteria to produce energy typically used while fasting. Rob's red mill can be found most places.

Years ago I was forgetting procedures that I wrote 😮. I saw a brain surgeon on TV discussing Omega Oils ~ specifically HCA and Krill Oil ~ I got immediate results within a week when I started taking them. I recently started fasting and can’t agree more. I’ve been waking up naturally at 5am with lots of energy and no requirement for lots of caffeine to get me going.

Interesting! Perhaps you have some kind of circulation issue going on. Rosemary, especially, is known for thinning the blood so it can most more easily throughout the body.
Psychedelics are world-changing. Your reality will shift, but please don't take too much especially if you have bad anxiety or aren't in a healthy place physically AND mentally during your experience. Microdosing or low doses can get you where you need to understand what you need to understand. Taking higher doses just adds confusion, anxiety, and possibly temporary depression, as everything you were going to feel anyway is still there but enhanced by 10x
Very true, set and setting, both on the day of, and in the days/weeks before/after, are super important. The one time I tripped without sufficient time to reintegrate, it wasn't a bad experience, but I accomplished nothing, as I had too much exposure to stress too soon the next few days and slipped back into my old patterns.
Through working with computers all day I ended up with a constant dull ache just under the back of my head at the atlas joint so, thinking my brain stem was being pinched which caused the fog, I went to a chiropractor. She started unlocking the joint and I got better gradually through that and various exercises. I recommend chin tucks and the latest discovery for me is nerve flossing.
Really enjoyed your video. I had a stroke last fall and was immediately pug on atorvastatin. Within days I was suffering muscle pain like I had never experienced before. I stayed on it for three months before realizing my memory and balance was really going down hill. Saw a video by Dr. Berg that made sense. Got off the statin and it took several months to finally get over the muscle pain. My short term memory loss and brain fog problems began to improve almost immediately.
Yea, most meds end up having worse side-effects in the long run, but I'm glad you were able to move in a better direction naturally. Keep up the good work!

I had brain fog in addition to digestive issues and GERD. I’m also non celiac gluten sensitive. I started a Keto diet and felt better within a week. I then added intermittent fasting. I eat at 11am and 5pm. I do not eat cane sugar. I use Stevia. I feel like a new person. No constant hunger pains or cravings. No digestion issues or GERD. I feel full eating wholesome foods. So, low carbs and no sugar have changed my life giving me energy, no brain fog, and weight loss.

@@beautybunnyy I felt better in about a week. Two weeks after starting I felt fantastic. My husband and I learned a lot about keto and intermittent fasting from Dr. Eric Berg on youtube. I highly recommend his channel. My family doctor even told me he was jealous of my blood test results. I hope you feel better. Let me know if you have any questions.
I also have celiac disease. I started taking L-Glutamine because it supposedly cured "leaky gut." I was sort of skeptical whether leaky gut actually existed, but I figured "why not?" Within days I was thinking more clearly. It cut down on my acid reflux, but the most amazing thing was that it helped with my high blood pressure. I had been taking 40 mg of Lisinopril, and within a few months cut it down to 5 mg, because my blood pressure kept going down. I think this was all caused by healing the intestinal lining, which prevents molecules from getting into the bloodstream which cause allergic reactions, inflammation and anxiety. It's an over-the-counter supplement. Since it is just an amino acid, it is totally safe, in any quantity.
Remedies:
1. Sleep - bed by 10, reduce blue light
2. Exercise
3. Diet - Less carb, whole food, replace caffeine
4. Stop procrastinating
5. Psychedelics
6. Iodine (seaweed)
7. Intermittent Fasting

You missed the importance of the barefoot running/earthing. Earthing balances the body to a cellular level and decreases inflammation ( including in the nervous system ).
Fish oil, avocado oil, MCT oil, and olive oil are also helpful in decreasing brain fog.
I tried an experiment once, just gently walking barefoot for 30 days, then another 30 days in 3mm rubber barefoot shoes that weren't grounded, and I didn't see difference in terms of inflammation. Obviously, barefoot feels better, which can improve your mood and make your more aware, so that's the most important benefit for me. But yea, love me some avocado oil!

Being a boomer, many, many of our generation became very debilitated with chronic fatigue syndrome. The brain fog was a consistent symptom reported by almost all people experiencing this condition. Like you, I also went many years with this illness, and I ended up trying all kinds of health regimens to try to overcome it. Anyway, there will be different remedies and regimens that will work for one person, but not work for another person. One bit of wisdom I could share is that each person carries a certain propensity for food and/or environmental allergies (for ex mold or mildew). This correlates with fasting as being a big key, because when u are fasting then u are not ingesting the food or foods that trigger the allergic reaction. Also, another thing to consider is that nowadays, after petrol-based chemical manufacturing began to come on strong in the early part of the 20th century, many of these petrol-based chemicals that are added to foods (for ex preservatives) could also trigger an allergic reaction. It is a known fact that all petrol-based chemicals are carcinogenic, except that it's in varying degrees. The govt allows them to be added to foods, but only those chemicals with a lower risk of causing cancer.

I will just say that mold or bad indoor air is often the biggest unknown culprit for brainfog etc. If you feel stuffy, have hard time breathing trough the nose for example in the mornings, your house might be moldy. If you feel better on vacations outside your home, this might be one clue. If you have a mold problem, you might often get an allergic reaction even from your clothes for a while if they have been always in the apartment.

Yea, I know just what you mean. When you're burned out the last thing you want is some ultra serious life-or-death type video. Keeping things fun/playful is the best way to get out of a hole, in my experience. Just focus on one small habit at a time until you get it "hammered down"" and then move onto the next one. If you have hypoglycemia, or any other issues that give you trouble keeping even blood sugar, you should still eat breakfast. Don't wait until you're already crashing to eat. Intermittent fasting is good for some people, but you have to be careful. Personally, I eat breakfast when I wake up, and start my day slowly so I have time to wake up and digest my food. If I don't eat breakfast, I'm far more likely to have brain fog, depression, and anxiety.

For me I have to decide if the brain fog is worse or better than being fat. If I don't intermittent fast, then I gain weight, and get a fatty liver. This happens because I have a low thyroid.
All I had to do was go gluten-free. :) Took a few months to notice the brain fog was gone, but with that and all the other benefits I got, I'd never go back.

You can do it yourself and see if it helps, but you have to do a lot of research beforehand, because gluten is in a lot of things you wouldn't expect, like soy sauce, and if you are going to do it, you kinda have to be perfect, because even small amounts can pull you back to square one/have symptoms that last for days, negating the prior work you might have done. So you really have to commit, as there are no cheat days or half assing with a gluten free diet. You don't need a doctor, you can try it yourself and see if it works, but you really need to commit to it.

Do 45 min hard aerobic workout 2x per day 2-3 days per week. It seems to hammer out the cobwebs in my brain whenever I do it. I go from being dumber than everyone else to smarter than everyone else which lasts around a week. I first noticed the effect back in jr college when my grades went from B- avg to A+ honor roll effortlessly just by riding my bike to/from school 11 miles each way 2 days per week.
Right on! Yea, exercise has a hugely positive impact on your ability to think clearly/efficiently. I go for a run in the AM and a walk in the PM and always feel jazzed afterwards.

I agree about exercises. I am 80 year old female and walk every day. And rowing machine. Today I walked 10,000 steps. If I dont go out and walk I feel so sluggish.

Yea, there are so many factors that can create brain fog. Unfulfilling careers, toxic relationships, systematic abuse, technology addiction...the list goes on. But you just keep making little tweaks every day, and bit by bit the pieces start coming together.

Thank you for all of this information and a great list! Another detail to add to your list is B1 Thiamine plus all the B vitamins. I got this advice from a nutritionist online. When you are deficient in B1, you don't have the spark plug to ignite your energy. A - B Complex vitamin - really helped me out when accompanied with your many items on your list. I shared all of your brain fog problems for 30 years! It wasn't until I was 45 when I started solving the brain fog issue. General doctors did not see this as a problem that could be solved 20+ years ago and I didn't have the funds to go to a naturopath or nutritionist (fields where practitioners do have solutions for this problem). Consider yourself lucky you are young at a time when there is so much information out there. When I was your age sonny (kidding), even doctors had little advice that would move the brain fog needle.
Yea, it's funny, I sometimes think: "Damn, I'm so far behind in life...I should have started figuring out this health stuff ten years ago!" But the reality is, you're still ahead of the game starting at 45, because most people don't even begin to take their health seriously until they're 70+, and other people never do it at all. Ive had brain fog for 10 years. It almost took my life a couple of times but i managed to keep going. I came from a lifestyle with drugs, alkohol and a ton of girls and fame from tv show in Scandinavia. I remember now when i heard you talk about fasting that i had moments of clarity and fokus that gave me a hunger for life again. My mentor told me that he felt something about interm fasting. I tried it for a few weeks which helped me. Then i stopped and have not tried since. My point is that ive had suicidal thoughts this summer because the fog has been terrible. I haven't had such a hard knox life as you have had but to me it seems that you're switching back and forth between your old life style and your new one, which is perfectly normal. In my personal opinion everyone wants to aspire to something. So the only thing you need is some sort of inner force or drive, a good, well thought out plan that helps reach your goal and a good mentor or guide to help you remember why you want to reach that goal and to guide you through tough times. @Milan Velky Yea, we had the same thing in the US of r awhile. Ironically iodine in table salt is basically pointless, because almost all of the iodine is gone by the time it reaches a person's home. Better to get it from sea veggies, like kelp.
Mercury in the blood stream also causes brain fog. We've got to look for the causes too.

It has been over a decade that I was also like this without being aware of what it is. I just have this gut feeling that something is wrong with me and I have to fix myself. I watched another UA-cam video by a neurologist where she said that her sleep apnea patients were all deficient in vitamin D3 and B1 (Benfotiamine) along with other B vitamins. I started taking the D3 and B vitamins in the morning and this was a big game changer for me because evidently this combo creates melatonin all day long as long as you have early morning light (evidently early morning light is a different wave-length than sunlight later in the day).
At night I take Magnesium before bedtime and these 3 supplements (D3, B1, and Magnesium) are the big brain repair vitamins. Huge game changer for me. You have to take the D3 and B1 (Benfotiamine) with fat in the morning as this helps these vitamins absorb into your system. But Wow! Huge changes for me.

Interesting video. If you take iodine (preferably bio kelp algae) in the morning, you need to take selenium in the evening to avoid damaging your thyroid.
But the main key besides fasting is: carbohydrates are the worst for us. We need to eat more fat and less carbohydrates. But no seed oils!

A great idea for the morning: Instead of fasting completely, try fresh pressed juice. It's got tons of nutrition and is extremely easy on your body to digest. It takes almost no digestive energy but will provide your body with vast amounts of nutrients for the day. Don't have sugary artificial juice though. Try juicing at home!

My understanding is that brain fog is just inflammation, so anti inflammatories will usually do the trick. Fasting yes most definitely, but also stuff like turmeric, garlic, and especially ground/earthing (via a grounded bedsheet) which for many people is literally life-changing, as it was for me as well (cured my life-long persistent life-threatening allergic asthma). Grounding is the ultimate anti inflammatory, and there's no shortage of scholarly research proving that as well. Facts.

@@muratsenturk83 Inflammation can strike anywhere and cause all sorts of symptoms. Inflammation in the head area specifically, when it goes acute, can also result in headaches. If you feel "full" in your head, like congestion, and you're confused and a bit depressed, it's likely inflammation. Easy way to find out: get some cold medicine with pseudoephendrine and if that clears your head then you have inflammation.
Brain fog is a big feature of Gilbert's syndrome, which is a liver function illness. You end up with high levels of circulating Bilirubin, which causes brain fog and fatigue, plus memory and concentration problems. There are always big lists of symptoms on various Gilbert's syndrome websites. It isn't curable, but knowing about it can help. After any blood tests, doctors always advise cutting down on your alcohol intake, even if you are tee-total, because your liver function blood results are usually all over the place.
Yea, liver function is very important for detoxing and brain function. No doubt anyone can benefit from cutting down on alcohol, because it's a disinfectant, not a beverage.
I use 2 drops of Lugals iodine in my coffee in the morning. I love fasting!
Nice! Wouldn't recommend coffee on an empty stomach, though, since it's extremely acidic and can damage the lining, plus mess up your pH level. I'd go with something gentler, like mushroom blends to start the day, then have your coffee later with a meal.
I really liked how you presented your video with your discovery information. I have a rare disease that can cause me to crash, collapse, have a fully body(not brain) seizure, followed by periodic paralysis for hours or even days when severe. Can't move or talk. So I did a lot of research. Doctors didn't have a clue... well, it was rare like I said. Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis. Here's what I've discovered. My body energy can only last for so long then I can crash. It's like having a bad battery that doesn't hold a charge. It depletes quickly, so I can't expercise because it uses up energy. I can't get too excited or anything that causes my heart to race or adrenaline to pump overtime. Then crash. So, my discovery was... Raw Foods. When I tested out eating pure 100% raw foods I had natural energy empowering my cells and enabling my body to retain energy much better. It was like day and night. If I eat cooked foods it doesn't give me all the nutrients and enzymes like pure raw foods. What I also discovered was that i do not need three meals a day and all the snackies. I cannot eat anything with white sugar or caffeine or I will crash. Only purest of garden foods and no processed anything. So, now I know when I eat only one meal a day I actually function much better. That one meal is loaded with nutrients. My system is not taxed with extra food that my body does not require. Fasting is such an important thing to do. It's like rebooting your computer. Our systems need to shut down for three days to be rebooted. There was a film put out about a boy having seizures, that the remedy could have killed him. It's called, First do no harm. In it the doctor told the mother of the child to not allow the boy to eat for three days. It's interesting because the bible talks about fasting. There are reasons for this. Our bodies need a rest from the chaos and it needs to remember its original functions. For me, this is what's worked to keep me sustained. It's helped me function better and get the very best I can get, energy-wise, from my body. I wish I could say I am healed, but that's going to have to be a miracle. I believe in miracles, and will keep searching for that key. God knows what it is... now I just need to discover it. Raw foods... it's all God-created food, so I know it is good. Right from the beginning... the garden of Eden had it all. Simple. We don't need supliments, we need real raw foods with all the nutrients already in it. Why raw? Because heat kills enzymes and depletes a lot of the nutrients. It's like secondrate supliments rather than toprate... raw foods. It doesn't get better than that.
Yea, I've struggled with the same themes, though not as severe as you. Lyme disease and thyroid issues, which both result in energy deficiency. I wanted to brag how growing beautiful beard cured my brain fog but I shaved this morning. Anyway, tip for those who's affected by coffee: drink it with a proper amount of good fats. Coffee is rich of polyphenols that kind of needed to be consumed with fats. Dark chocolate that is being mentioned is already balanced because it contains cacao butter in itself. As for coffee, you could enjoy it with coconut cream, nuts, avocado, lactose-free cheese, buckwheat with coconut oil... That's soooo good, I drink 2 espresso every day and it never ever ever ever affects me. And of course, drink enough water with it, too. That's what I've discovered for myself so that may be useful for someone. Of course we are all different but my sisters f.e. take coffee badly. Guess what? They never compliment it by healthy fats.

@@AndrewFolts Yup! I am joking around but actually you nailed it. Especially iodine. I myself take kelp, fucus and roll my food in nori. No beard without iodine. We all know iodine-selenium relationship but not many people know that eating too much cruciferous vegetables will throw your iodine levels to its lowest.

@@AndrewFolts no, it's absolutely not much. If it's not Giant Alice in Wonderland's CUP! when I ate 500-1 kg of raw broccoli/cabbage a day that was a lil' too much, I guess. Now as I am back to my extra-mini-portions again I won't encounter such a problem but for those who eats a lot well I guess it'll make sense to increase iodine intake to compensate. Apart from interfering with iodine, cruciferous are cool f.e. Indole-3-carbinol helps us with estrogen metabolism and hormones functioning is well I'd say one of the most important thing for both sexes. Btw broccoli is paired with healthy fats, too))))))) If I wasn't an artist, I'd open NORIneria ) lots of staff rolled in nori. cool

It used to be the same for me in college, super stressed out, caffeine and smoking. I didn't realize what was wrong with me, but you coined this term 'brain fog'. So that's what it was.
I have begun quitting a few months back and it has made all the difference. I do everything you just mentioned in the video, running(barefoot sometimes), e-ink reader, sleeping on-time, procrastinating less. Except for fasting, I can't not eat in the morning.
I guess these come naturally as a way of better lifestyle.

For fasting you can try either juicing or eating a piece of alkaline (non-acidic) fruit with lower sugar, like watermelon. Gives you energy but doesn't make you crash. Great tips. I’m finishing my PhD in neuroscience… my brain fog gave a lot of trouble this semester… I’m actually in trouble I need to write an additional paper out of 4 for my dissertation… my brain fog delayed all my next year plans… it suck you can’t imagine the suffering my only solution in addition to running 10 K 3 times per week was to get out of my Appartment and write in a library in schedule (since I’m writing and finished my laboratory work I don’t have to go to the lab or university ) so home worked for 2 papers but not for 3 or 4… so that’s that… I’ll be applying getting ready for running the night before, writing from 4-7 am, running 7-9, writing 9:30-noon…. Lunch and writing from 2-5… let’s see… this is going to be my December 2022-January 2023… dissertation for February!

Yea, I start every day with a run and it does help a lot to get the blood flowing. The key is consistency. You find a couple things that work and make sure to do them every day, then experiment and build other tiny habits on top of those. Inch by inch, the brain fog will go away. (:

Yea, I know how you feel. There are lots of people I kind of use as "North Stars" whenever I'm struggling. Helps to have that consistency to follow in someone else.
Sleep, yes! Kindle, yes! These things have helped. When I had through study as well as trial and error figured out the things that caused and alleviated brain fog it still took time to get them into habit and under control. Somewhat ironically, being very busy helped me get ahead of brain fog as I couldn't not be ready for things and after a while I was forced to be a good boy

Hmm. I went down a similar path before. I started keto and then intermittent fasting to treat my GERD, but after 2 years my body crashed. Fasting or low carb made me feel worse every time I tried it. I’ve tried a bunch of things in between but right now I always eat breakfast, I get most of my energy from carbs, but besides my starchy staples of rice and potatoes, I tend to get almost all my sugar from fruit rather than pastries or other refined sources. I also eat fruit like apples and bananas along with beans and psyllium husk for soluble fiber. I’m still working on fixing my sleep and some days are better than others, but at least this approach doesn’t make me feel as terrible as fasting or low carb. I have some ideas on the mechanisms behind all this but it gets quite complicated. I guess my point is that this approach doesn’t always work for everyone.
Yea, low-carb never worked for me, either. If you're crashing after skipping breakfast it could be you didn't get enough nutrition and/or sleep the night before. But the most important thing is that you listen to your body and just do what works-no one's the same. Also...TEAM PSYLLIUM HUSKS! (:
With the coffee truck I find you have the first sip, Chuck the middle and then have the last sip. Only takes a few times and the coffee cravings go away after a few days. For me it’s the last sip that tells my brain I’ve had the coffee. Hope that’s useful for someone.

4:15 this was actually the switch that flipped for me to finally try LSD back in early December. Of course it was a confluence of things building up to that decision, but I'd been considering it vaguely for a year or two. I picked up on your videos not long before that and felt like your ideals mirrored a lot of mine, so all just made sense in that moment. I love how I can now forever pinpoint this as the moment I decided to go into that world. I've already learned so much about myself from it. Even just in terms of barefoot running, it makes it so much easier to shed the cushioning because it feels totally unnecessary to begin with, and then to gradually orient your brain and body towards that new mode of thought
The only downside is I've been struggling with a meniscus tear since last June which still hasn't properly healed, so I'm in this spot where I have all this newfound joy for running and movement but don't have the capacity to express it all. Hopefully it works itself out
That's so cool! I was trying to think if there was a moment when I decided to do LSD for the first time, but I think it was just reading a bunch of Reddit posts, ha! Can relate to the awareness that it brings to barefoot running, though. I think it tends to strip away modern nonsense, so there's always a greater connection to primal things.
I've had what I now suspect is Lyme disease for the past two years, and running has been impossible at times because of joint pain, especially now during the winter, so I feel your frustration literally. Take it slow, and you'll be back to it in now time!
dude when i go to bed on an empty stomach and in a fasting state and wake up the following day, my brain is fucking on a roll. i could literally program everything with a snap of my fingers and all the speculations as to if somethings wrong with me goes away. i’ve been fasting for the past two years that i’ve stopped fasting the past two weeks subconsciously and have realized the impact it’s had on me and how beneficial it’s been to me

Hey Andrew, thanks for your insights. After 11 years of battling brain fog, I have concluded pretty much the same list of remedies (minus taking psilocybins although I have read micro doses can be quite effective in depression etc). Fasting is indeed the "mac daddy" of the cures; I totally agree. There are two things I would add to this great list: magnesium and ice baths. Ice baths are no easy feat to jump into consistently, but it does wonders over time.
Yea, funny enough I did start taking magnesium again this year, and it definitely helps me deal with the crazy stress of this world we're in!

Maybe I took too much, man, but everytime I tried lsd and shrooms it kept me up for days and I would just be paranoid, get socially anxious, and cry like a cranky baby. There was some study that came out that said early intermittent fasting had some superior benefit than later intermittent fasting, which sucks because I'd rather skip breakfast. Thanks for the video. My brain fog is due to mold at work and home and a naturopath put me on dessicated thyroid. That seems to be helping
Yea, could be it was too much. If you're already an HSP (highly sensitive person), then you only need a very small amount of psychedelics, or maybe none at all. I remember Bjork in an interview saying she never takes drugs, because she's basically already on drugs naturally 24/7. Also, take studies with grain of salt, because for every one that says "A" you can find another that says "B." Just do what feels right for you. (:

I wake up with pain and brain fog (probably fibromyalgia). By the afternoon I feel much better. So I skip dinner, and keep eating a breakfast in the morning and lunch at noon and this way I also feel much sharper by the evening. Just leaving it here as a variation ;) .
(Due to the pain, I must admit that even with all the tricks, I just can't get myself to concentrate, but that's fine too, life is what it is. Stress only makes it worse :) )
Yea, I can relate, I've been dealing with Lyme for the past three years. Being in pain all the time can definitely drain you, so every little trick helps.

I could see applying at least one or more of his remedies. The psychedelic thing was interesting. I dropped acid maybe six times in my life over a 4 year span and there was a sense of renewal afterwards that lingered. I was 18+ my first time using and generally it was positive.

I found that Magnesium also helps. I do intermittent fasting and drink a glass of water with 2 tbl spoons of apple cider vinegar. It helps for the food cravings in the mornings. I removed sugar from my eating plan as well.
Yea, I try to get lots of mg in my diet and take a bit of mg glycinate as well, which is excellent for digestion and relaxation.

As for me, these two things provided some relief so far. Also, eating low glycemic foods helps. I guess in some ways that's similar to fasting, because your blood sugar is stable.

I was helped with the iodine also but (I have low thyroid) I also added a Potassium supplements. I must take a few per day.. It helped a lot. I now can go all day without falling asleep.
Heck yea! Potassium/sodium is another common imbalance, and it can definitely cause brain fog if you're low.
Totally agree with K+....i take them one in the morning and another around midday to keep me going.

Yea, I stopped eating gluten for about a year and it definitely helped. Couple months ago, discovered Einkorn, which is an ancient, un-hybridized variety of wheat, and it has much less gluten. Been making sourdough with no ill effects.

@@fumanboy try going gluten free for a week & see if you feel better. Try it for another week, then a third week - if you're feeling much better by this time then make it a lifestyle choice! I don't have to avoid gluten completely but I can't have it more than twice a week or it "settles" in my joints & it'll feel like arthritis all over my body. It was such a relief to find out the cause of my pain & it's such an easy remedy. No arthritis doctor will tell you this information as they want your money $$$$!!!!
I would add two things that did the trick for me, one is stop worring, just stay sit for a couple of minutes thinking only in what is going allright in my life, even the simple things like my survival is garanteed makes a huge relief in the subconcious mind.
also, and kind of tied with the previous one, meditation, empty your head and for a couple of minutes stop thinking you are a programmer, dad, son, citizen, just relax, enjoy the feelings of your skin with your clothes, the sounds, the fresh air, etc.

On point! Simply pausing for a few seconds or a few minutes is such an underrated tool for dealing with stress and brain fog. Sometimes I even crawl in bed and just lay there, so as to bring my body to a place of rest, so I can put all my energy into sorting out what's bothering me. Cheers!
Yep! I can attest that fasting is the main pivot point; that'll start to change a lot of physical ailments. Couple that with time-restricted eating and just a LITTLE exercise and you'll start feeling better all over...not just brain fog! Thanks for the video. It was very entertaining.

Hey Matthew, usually I'll drink a little water, then go for a walk or run. After that I work until noon (fasting gives me clarity) and eat a big lunch for my first meal.
I went on the ketogenic diet last 50 lb of fat it was the best thing I ever did I have 10 times more energy than before everybody should try it it also has intermittent fasting which is great

Thanks, yo! I switched back to a balanced diet for winter, it was just impossible to generate enough energy on raw food living in NY where it's freezing cold. I've been on a low-carb type diet for four years and it certainly helps, although the two things that help more than anything are fasting and kelp (for iodine). Carnivore intrigues me, but every time I try it I end up feeling sick with acid reflux and slow metabolism. My body seems to crave more alkaline foods (celery juice, low-sugar fruit, leafy greens, etc) to balance out the acidity and lack of fiber.

@@legoninja2468 Free range grass fed elk and bison, along with wild caught salmon for meat. Organic leafy greens and other alkaline (non-acidic) veggies and fruits, like pear, apple, green beans, squash, avocado. Sprouted (soaked) nuts, seeds, and pseudo-grains, like quinoa, buckwheat, lentils, chickpeas, walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds, etc. Those would be a good place to start and then try eliminating groups on at a time (like seeds, etc) if you still have problems.
@@AndrewFoltsNice, you planning on going raw again in the spring?The main thing I believe with reducing fog is what most of these diets do which is what you leave out that is the main thing. The main allergens dairy, gluten, eggs, and the all processed foods. I even think things like white/brown rice and other grains is worse on digestion than meat. Also there is definitely something about fasting which helps as well
@@legoninja2468 Yea, I try to avoid heavy starches, like white/brown rice, because they gum up the digestive tract without providing much nutrition. It's pretty common to do a raw vegan type cleanse in the spring for a lot of cultures, so yea, I'll probably play around with it again.

I started microdosing psilocybin a couple weeks ago and have had a very noticeable increase in brain fog during the day. Did you experience this, at first? I'm hoping it's just an initial reaction. Only taking 0.2g every few days...
Hey Ashley! I've tried microdosing with LSD and psilocybin before, but I found it too distracting for every day life. Like you said, it just kind of gives you brain fog. Personally, I get better results doing a full trip once every six months or so, then integrating those insights sober. You might have better daily results with herbs like ashwagandha or lion's mane mushroom, which give an energy and concentration boost without the chaotic nature of psychedelics.. (:

Yea, I think it would do a world of good if everyone stopped eating all the time and tried a bit of weekly/daily fasting.
I think chronic stress and sleep deprivation are two main causes of brain fog. It feels like i can’t think or i have lost my mind. Currently i’ve been having headaches without reason too.
Yea, it's crazy how fast the fog comes in when you're sleep deprived. Headaches might be dehydration...or over-hydration (i.e. too much water without enough electrolytes).. Caffeine and sugar can do it too.

Very helpful, intermittent fasting is a great idea. Another thing that helps with energy for some people is potato starch, a tablespoon a day dissolved in water. It is a resistant starch that is a prebiotic, which causes gut bacteria to produce energy typically used while fasting. Rob's red mill can be found most places.

Years ago I was forgetting procedures that I wrote 😮. I saw a brain surgeon on TV discussing Omega Oils ~ specifically HCA and Krill Oil ~ I got immediate results within a week when I started taking them. I recently started fasting and can’t agree more. I’ve been waking up naturally at 5am with lots of energy and no requirement for lots of caffeine to get me going.

Thank you very much for posting this! I noticed that whenever I take mushrooms coffee, or Rosemary essential oil (one drop in a cup of water), or when eating curried foods, my brain feels right again, and more focused and energetic!
Interesting! Perhaps you have some kind of circulation issue going on. Rosemary, especially, is known for thinning the blood so it can most more easily throughout the body.
Psychedelics are world-changing. Your reality will shift, but please don't take too much especially if you have bad anxiety or aren't in a healthy place physically AND mentally during your experience. Microdosing or low doses can get you where you need to understand what you need to understand. Taking higher doses just adds confusion, anxiety, and possibly temporary depression, as everything you were going to feel anyway is still there but enhanced by 10x
Very true, set and setting, both on the day of, and in the days/weeks before/after, are super important. The one time I tripped without sufficient time to reintegrate, it wasn't a bad experience, but I accomplished nothing, as I had too much exposure to stress too soon the next few days and slipped back into my old patterns.

Through working with computers all day I ended up with a constant dull ache just under the back of my head at the atlas joint so, thinking my brain stem was being pinched which caused the fog, I went to a chiropractor. She started unlocking the joint and I got better gradually through that and various exercises. I recommend chin tucks and the latest discovery for me is nerve flossing.
Yea, I've experienced some benefits from rolling my neck around to realign everything. Seems to help with joint pain.

Really enjoyed your video. I had a stroke last fall and was immediately pug on atorvastatin. Within days I was suffering muscle pain like I had never experienced before. I stayed on it for three months before realizing my memory and balance was really going down hill. Saw a video by Dr. Berg that made sense. Got off the statin and it took several months to finally get over the muscle pain. My short term memory loss and brain fog problems began to improve almost immediately.
Yea, most meds end up having worse side-effects in the long run, but I'm glad you were able to move in a better direction naturally. Keep up the good work!
Everyone I know who has taken statins had muscle pains & weakness or other side effects. They tell you side effects are "rare" but it's not true.
