    After a whole night of waking up to panic and trembling, i got so tired of anxiety i said screw this, and got up and did whatever i wanted to and ignored anxiety that morning. As soon as i stopped focusing on it, it immediately left, and i was myself again. This proved there is nothing wrong. Now we have to do this each time we feel panic, until it stops coming.

    • @Jo00399
      @Jo00399 3 місяці тому +17

      @sciencetest8 yes. It comes back until you stop being sensitized, but at that point you know it is only nerves so you wait it out until it stops coming. I noticed I was soooo much worse when I played into all the tricks. Going on with your life is what reverses it

    • @Jo00399
      @Jo00399 3 місяці тому +13

      @sciencetest8 yes it is simple, sensitive nerves bluffs us, it's a false alarm!

    • @BELG1994
      @BELG1994 3 місяці тому +11

      Idk if its that simple..it becomes so high and fast that i lose control in my mind. And acting like its nothing does not work. I have chronic hyperventilation also.

    • @Jo00399
      @Jo00399 3 місяці тому +11

      @BELG1994 we get stuck in panic and feed into it. Going on with your day loosens the hold it has and you focus on your life instead of the panic. That's what makes it go away, even if relief comes gradually, it comes.

    • @Jo00399
      @Jo00399 3 місяці тому +13

      @sciencetest8 trust that it is a false alarm and nothing more. Nerves don't kill people, they just rattle really loudly when we are stressed, that's it.

My main ones are dizziness off balance and bad eye problems. Ive bad bouts of anxiety and panic attacks which have led to health anxiety and agoraphobia. I think we can all agree it sucks and we wish it would all just go away. It can really bring a person down day after day. Like i said dont give up. After everything ive been through i had my first bout of derealization today. Scared the hell out of me. Just gonna try to throw it under the umbrella the best i can. Its hard. Its all hard. I had an absolutely terrible crash 4 years ago, recovered and then had a "replay" a year back. Same symptoms but way worse . I have listened to a huge range of therapists, life motivation speakers,trying to find a way to heal but have just felt increasingly overwhelmed by the content.
    I stumbled quite by accident upon this video and thought ....what the heck, let's take a listen .....oh my goodness, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH, I have to date not heard it explained so simply but concisely, with totally attainable "handles" to real recovery. It was like a HUGE weight was lifted as I heard you telling me I don't have to fight it, fix it, fear it but recognise all the overwhelming emotion to be simply symptoms.of ONE, singular issue ....anxiety....and practice ALARM and the five F's again and again. I cannot tell you what this video has meant to me and I am so very very grateful for your making this intelligence available to the public. Bless you hugely.

    Excellent Video Shaan. Very well done. Ive been dealing with anxiety, derealization and depersinalization, and panic attacks for a long time. 10+ years due to drugs. Now i fear for my health due to long term smoking and cancer/thanatophobia. I had an xray and it came out clear and my blood was normal. I found i have a chronic cough but dont know its origin, this spurred my most recent bout of anxiety, which has lasted for roughly 10 months so far. I still have the cough, but im younger and witht the clear xray i doubt it’s anything serious. My anxiety does cause heart rate increased and shortness of breath at times which only exacerbates my fears. Very unfun.
    You hit the nail on the head. I hope you make more content. This video is currently helping me through one of my episodes right now. Thank you.
    To anyone else experiencing similar, i love you, and know that youre not alone. Hopefully anyone who reads this leaves a comment as a reply and we can see theres many of us, and we are together in the challenge.

    I write this advice after watching all of Shaans videos and reading Dr. Claire Weeks' book because it helped me recover. You can overcome this. The main thing is if you made it past 1 month with anxiety, then you already know nothing is going to happen to you. You'll be fine so try not to avoid work, outings, traveling, etc. Keep on living. Don't fight the symptoms. Don't use teas, herbs, weighted blankets, meditation, don't let your body know you're fighting. Think of a time when you were most relaxed. For example, you were watching a movie, sports, just sitting down on the couch, looking at the sky. Think hard on how you were breathing when you were super calm. For me it was soft breathing. No deep breaths, no long exhales. Now, from now on to when you're going through anxiety symptoms and difficult moments, where your adrenaline and cortisol are high, and your symptoms are out of control, BREATH how you would when you were in that calm state. No deep breaths, just calm breaths. All the time. At all moments. Eventually your nervous system will pick up on it, that you're safe and there's no threat and you'll get better. It's easier said than done but it took me a few months to drastically reduce my symptoms. Now they're non-existent. Slowly you'll start to build confidence and reduce fear to when eventually you recover.

      I don't think I ever even had a panic or anxiety attack until perhaps I was in my early to mid 30s! Those things can definitely also come and go, or onset at a certain point
      in one's life. I'm with you, I have some semblance of white coat syndrome too, mainly from actual medical stuff than anything else. But I have had mixed and terrible
      experiences before with psychiatrists or counselors, so I'm wary. It's ok to be wary.

      Recognizing and addressing whitecoat syndrome, especially after a history of panic attacks, is a significant step towards recovery. Your journey from not understanding panic attacks to actively seeking help and guidance is inspiring. Overcoming the fear of medical environments will likely be a challenging but rewarding process. Your determination to push through and the progress you’ve made so far are commendable. The fear is something that can be overcome. Know that what you are experiencing is a symptom of anxiety, and know that you are actually OK, and as someone who is on the recovery journey, Know that you can with practice, some day feel great. You got this my guy, I'm working hard too. I'm very healthy, and anxiety is a liar. Know that anxiety is lying to you, you are healthy and strong, flex your muscles, look at yourself in the mirror, look at how perfectly fine you are in the mirror. I started hiking, trekking and visiting small mountains and hills, even challenged myself to climb some difficult small mountains (not recommended) to face and fight my fear, started playing sports (cricket) and that's how I got rid atleast 80% of severe panic attacks. And still I'm an introvert, highly sensitive person with a little of social anxiety but I'm so happy that I got rid of those scary panic attacks. Now I'm planning to work 8-10 hours a day, to exersise (breathing and stretching exercises, running etc.) at most 2 hours a day (1 hours in morning and 30-60 minutes in evening) and to eliminate digital screen time before going to bed.

    oh damn...My 12 years relationship ended 2 months ago. After she left and i understood i am alone now, my world collapsed. i have always been skinny and i lost my appetite. have been lost a lot of weight (15 lbs).., self confident went down. scared about future, stressing, anxiety, overthinking everything. what, how, if, when etc... I cant find the joy of things i used to. Feeling like i lost ME with the breakup and just being STUCK. basicly a walking ghost who has no destination.
    I think one of the big triggers to these is the thought of my ex being happily with some1 else while i struggle and this thought is very very very often in my head. Its just so hard not to think about her...
    I have done small walkings outside, breathing techniques, meditation, tapping. Going gym actively to gain my weight lost back and constantly thinking about forcing myself to EAT. still just losing weight and stressing about it. Asking my self "WHY I DONT HEAL, HOW LONG THIS IS GOING TO TAKE"
    been watching your videos now like 3 hours and i think something clicked in my head. Now i realise I have tried to fix it by forcing these things and HOPE it will do it. That leading to deeper hole cause i dont see the results witch just give me more stress and anxiety.
    Instead just understand the cause of these and just let it be and figure it self out. Not by FORCING or OVERTHINKING about it. accept it.
    I just ate without worrying over it, my stomach didnt feel twisted. i went to a walk with a thought "this wont fix it but makes me feel good" and it felt GREAT!. and same with the other techniques.
    Its just your body mechanic and survival instinct.
    Your mind will make you sick if you let it take over you and you keep feeding it.
    I know this is not going to be easy, but i found a little bit of peace in my head already!
    Thank you Shaan!

Realizing that forcing yourself to heal isn’t effective and instead focusing on acceptance and understanding is a crucial breakthrough. Your newfound peace in small actions and the shift in mindset towards self-compassion and patience are powerful steps towards recovery. Hi!
    I wanted to say thank you for this video - your advice helped me get through a difficult episode of anxiety. My journey started with intense anxiety symptoms and constant fatigue that I couldn’t explain. Eventually, I found out I had a severe vitamin D deficiency and low B12. Initially, the improvement was gradual, but around the third week of supplementing B vitamins, I started to feel a real difference - both my anxiety and concentration improved significantly. I tested my vitamin D levels about a month after my B12 test, so I'm just beginning to see the effects of that supplementation, but I feel a little better each day.
    If anyone is struggling with similar issues, I recommend checking your vitamin D and B12 levels. For me, discovering these deficiencies was a crucial part of my path to feeling better. You're not alone - it's worth investigating potential causes!
    I want you all to know that i love you and i know you will survive this!

    This was very helpful. As someone recovering from a mind-body illness (CFS), responding well to symptoms and dealing with anxiety is key. Its always good to hear similar principles from other sources. I also believe that we can start discovering our authentic self and live our life according to our values at the beginning. It makes it so much easier to separate our true self identity from the protective patterns (anxiety is a part playing on repeat) so we don't keep associating ourselves with it or allow it to dominate our life.

      Yea anxiety makes your nervous system light up like a pin ball machine. It creates symptoms in parts of your body where you are actually totally fine. Just knowing this can help. Know that it is a symptom of anxiety, and then practice what the video says, ALARM- Acknowledge, "I am having a pain in my stomach, it is an anxiety symptom", Label it "Stomach flutters, or cramps" Accept it "I have these stomach cramps, they are here, and I feel them, I don't need to fight it, I don't need to fix it, I'm going to just let it stay here as long as it needs to, and let it pass when it does" Refocus "Ok now what was I doing, Oh, I was watching My show, or playing my game, I will refocus and pay attention to the show" Move on "I don't need to think about this any more because it has passed". Not being afraid of it coming back, because now you know how to handle it. Practice it again and again, and you will get less and less reoccurring symptoms.
      There is also the therapy in a nutshell website, at the risk of this comment getting deleted they also have a thing on this website.

    I have always been prone to anxiety. From the outside, I am very sociable, friendly and fun. If only people knew what I go through in the inside 😢 I have been having panick attacks even in the middle of the night when I am sleeping. My blood starts to boil with fear to the point I'm scared to leave my bed and stand up to check I am OK. What helps me are guided meditations but it is not a definite solution. I fear death, I fear being alive.. It's so overwhelming 😢 I don't know what to do 😢😢😢

    Been taking propanolol for one day and I feel disappointed in myself tbh, I want to overcome all of this without medication but so far it’s helped me so much, I just fear about the side effects of weight gain e.g., but it’s stopped my heart pulpatations and shakes, I’ve got therapy 20th December so once I’ve started that I’m going to try and come of the meds and recover naturally 🙏🏼

    I get it while driving. It’s been a huge problem for me. I try so hard to keep driving but eventually it feels like my body is going into extreme fear or like I’m going to panic and it’s dangerous and I’m really scared of those feelings and then stop driving because everytime I drive it comes back. It’s like being on a rollercoaster .

    You have to recognize anxiety for what it is, which is a bluff. It's your brain telling you something bad is going to happen if you do X, and the only way to show to yourself that it is indeed a bluff and a misfiring of your brain identifying something as a threat is to simply do the thing. Exposure therapy essentially. Also, every time you avoid the thing that is giving you anxiety (a job interview for example) you are essentially telling your subconscious brain, your anxiety, that it is a legitimate threat. And that just makes it worse.

    As someone who suffers with extreme severe anxiety I can totally relate to her. I would stop eating for days at a time as a punishment. I worry a lot about my life, everyone around me and pleasing everyone. It's absolutely crippling, so glad she got the help she needed, lovely young lady it's so sad that society has 1 in 3 people suffering mental health issues. I hope everyone seeks help

      People need to realise that people with anxiety disorders have oversensitised nerves, it's not a simple case of manning up and getting over it.
