social media. Even as I watch one video on youtube, I'm subtly distracted by all the thumbnails of other videos off to the side. Being online is constantly like this. It's constant information overload and doesn't lend to clear thinking. Think about when you were growing up and the only thing that came close to this was tv or a magazine. Even the internet back in the day wasn't bad.

For a Doctor, I’m surprised Dr. Patrick doesn’t provide more of a nuanced answer here, rather opting for the answer that “diet” is the end all be all for brain fog. As with anything in human physiology and psychology, the answer is never so simple and differs tremendously between individuals. Off the top of my head I can think of multiple factors besides nutrition that can possibly influence brain fog such as stress, lack of sleep, social jet lag (look it up), emotional/psychological issues, etc. personally I had the WORST brain fog of my life from overtraining syndrome. Diet was dialed in, sleep was dialed in, but the overtraining without adequate made me live in a state of perpetual brain fog for months. Something to think about

@@Lost4llenwelcome to us healthcare. It's shocking how little doctors know when you provide them an issue and their first go to (I'm my experience) is therapy, anti depressants and anti acid medicine. I ended up, over the course of two years, using 3rd party blood work tests and testing which food made me tired and discovered I had hypothyroid from gluten intolerance.
Glad I didn't just start taking antidepressants for that lmao. In my experience it's all in the blood work and how you feel and that can narrow down your issues. It's timely and expensive but at least I figured out the issue. Over the course of the years it took to do this my testosterone level went from 190 to 680. My thyroid was basically shutting down from an autoimmune disease. (All this I discovered myself, thanks to people like in this podcast and other online research). That's my experience with multiple doctors / opinions.
Also I'll add lots of people seem to be superstitious online so make sure you vet who is giving you information (looking at reddit). I'll never go to a primary care doctor again, personally.

1.) Eat a whole food diet - make sure all micronutrients are being met
    2.) Don’t overeat your calories.

3.) Exercise at least 4- 5 times a week - aerobic, anaerobic, and strength training

Make sure you know one HUNDRED percent you're hypogonadal though. If you start taking test to bandaid an issue you can make the real issue (poor sleep, diet, stress, thyroid etc) way worse. The days I get "high quality" sleep is when I'm mentally clear and just completely alert and without the need to consume too much caffeine or need to nap. Along with sleep, it seems hormonal optimization might help with brain fog as well. During periods of my life where I was physically fit, I felt alive and possessed an internal drive to want to accomplish something.

    with tomato souce
    6 grams olive oil,
    10 grams parmesan cheese
after that i will dissolve the brain fog.

@@BUJU2007 my point is, how do we know that this is true? She just said it like it’s a known fact. Additionally, how do we know that people with higher levels and insulin sensitivity have it worse? How would you even test such a thing? Subjective reports of brain fog? How would you do a blinded study? People know what they’re eating.
It will be very difficult to avoid introduction of unconscious bias. Additionally, the term “brain fog“ is not even a medical term. So my question is how do we know that this is true? Have there been actual studies done? Are these studies any good?

Post prandial fatique is well established in science. It is All about ATP , which gets consumed in a high rate. It is an energy consuming process to digest. Whether it explains brain fog. Is another question. But the body gets immediately tired after a high glycemic food.

    Brain Fog Overview:
Brain fog is described as a reduction in mental clarity, affecting cognitive function.
Dr. Rhonda Patrick believes it is closely linked to the postprandial glucose response after meals.
    Postprandial Glucose Response:
High glycemic index foods, especially refined carbohydrates, can lead to sharp spikes and crashes in blood glucose levels.
A ketogenic diet or fasting in a fasted state may help mitigate these glucose fluctuations and improve mental clarity.
Strategies to Mitigate Postprandial Glucose Response:
Incorporating "exercise snacks," short bursts of intense exercise before or after a meal, helps regulate blood glucose levels.
Considering the order of macronutrients on the plate, such as consuming protein or fat before carbohydrates, can blunt the postprandial glucose response.
    Importance of Postprandial Inflammatory Response:
Meals cause inflammation, with high sugar and high-fat meals being significant contributors.
The immune system's activation after a meal diverts energy from the brain, leading to a temporary reduction in mental clarity.
Strategies to Reduce Postprandial Inflammatory Response:
Omega-3 supplementation has been shown to blunt the postprandial inflammatory response.
Managing meal size and composition, along with omega-3 intake, can contribute to maintaining mental clarity and reducing the impact of postprandial inflammation.

I may have misheard what she said, but refined carbohydrates aren't devoid of macronutrients based simply on the fact that they are carbohydrates. Refined carbohydrates also do have micronutrients but course the total amount of macro and micro nutrients between refined and complex carbohydrates varies between them. It's also not as black and white as she seems to make it out to be in this clip - the "best" kind of carbohydrate is the one most suitable to one's particular dietary/fitness needs. For example, it is widely accepted by sports scientists and nutritionists that sugar and/or refined carbohydrates are the best type of energy source to consume immediately before vigorous or stressful activity such as a race or sporting event (this is likely assuming you've fueled properly beforehand with complex carbs and other macros).
Obviously most people aren't athletes but there's always more nuance to any given topic that should be noted.
