I save all your videos for future projects! This is so cool! In Portugal, basket art is/was a tradition. People would make baskets that were used to go to the markets. It’s a tradition that’s getting lost and baskets are really, really expensive. These vessels and bowls do remind me of Portuguese baskets and I’d really love to make one. I like the big and the one with a “strange” shape. They’re gorgeous. You explain it perfectly 💙🧡💗💛♥️🖤💜❤️💚
Do you know I never realised how these bowls were made, your tuition breaks it down and makes it so easy to follow, thank you for sharing. Another project to try, I’m never going to get bored x
I love finding a new video from you each day when I settle down to craft. You are doing a fabulous job . I hope you aren’t spending too much time outside your post office to upload these videos for us, or if you are that you are enjoying your spare time to craft some more. So looking forward to your next video.
I’m with you on using a thimble, never could get the hang of it, I use my thumb nail instead. Lol. Found your channel by accident and just subscribed. Your explanations and demos are amazingly clear.
Wonderful! Thank you. I have loads of lovely cotton shirts collected over the years for quilting projects and this is perfect to do whilst sitting by the fire these cold days. ❤
I am a bridal seamstress and I have used strips from hem cut offs to make twine, ivory and random bridesmaid colours. I made a rug but I couldn’t persuade it to sew the way I thought it should go round the twine and ended up using a sharp needle and doubled thread to stitch the rows together. It was very hard on my fingers, but now I have seen your method of sewing it I might make something else. My twine was a bit wonky because I was using slightly curved strips from hems I think. Thank you 😊
I have learnt two things here - the magical knot and the art of twining a little saucer. K3N, thank you so much for such a detailed video - I actually had to replay and replay and replay various sections but it was so concise, just the brain not behaving - however, I don’t think I’ve got enough twine to finish so either I have to make another smaller biscornu or add to the existing one😊
Greetings to ya nice baskets I was going to send you a message about walnuts roast them till they burn & they are more easer to use & they make a great dye done this way for Ecco printing . Enjoy thanks again Peter Scotland xx
I've been looking forward to this video. A few years ago, I made a bunch of twine, but never could figure out what to do with it 😂 now I know! Thanks so much! I'll give it a try 😊😊
I am really enjoying making this fabric twine to go with my first biscornu pin cushion. Also have been stitching fabrics together but as usual I started my own way and ran into trouble😂 It's beautiful though. Thank you so much for all of these beautiful videos
Wonderful inspiring video, you are truly amazingly talented thank you for sharing and it made me wish I could pop in for a cup of tea and sit there twining away, then make your beautiful bowls all day! Cannot wait for your next video..xx
UA-cam recommended your channel to me and I have been happily binging your videos 😊 I am a self-taught granny square quilter. I also make memorial quilts out of clothing. I have never seen twine made out of scraps. I think I will try to make some. I would love to see some of your quilts if you ever want to share.
You reminded me that I had made some little bowls like that with sysirinchium old leaves that had blackened and flax twine. I am enjoying your videos I found just recently.
I have watched 10 or more video on tying the magic knot and still could not get it to work but your video is the Best explanation on this process and I have been able to do the magic knot for the first time ever!!!😄😄😄😄. I am so excited to make one of these baskets!!😋😋. Thank you so much for this video!!👏🏻👏🏻👍👍🤗🤗
I really enjoyed your tutorial. Not only informative but made me chuckle. I have a stash of craft materials. But never knew why I collected balls of string and crochet thread. Who knew you would tell me. Can’t wait to give this a try. Thank You for an enjoyable watch.
Thank you for that, sometimes I have been criticised for hoarding random old stuff and then when I discover a use for it and feel a little smug, that moment 😉😁... Your comment about your string and crochet thread reminded me of that feeling 😂❤️
This is wonderful and just what I needed! When my 3 girls were young, and we did handcrafts, we called that "Bodkin" a "Sacred Needle" because is was SO important to make sure to put it back where it belongs. We still call it that. :) Thank you!
Okay after a couple of tries, I think I got it! Thank you so much. I discovered your channel while nursing a virus. I came out of two weeks of misery with new skills!
All better! I've made the pin cushion and small bowl. I'm going to start tearing up more fabric today so I can make plans for a log cabin or something. You've really sparked something in me!🥰@@k3n.clothtales
what a great tutorial. I think you just saved my sanity. I’ve been working on my first little basket and am about ready to give up. The buttonhole stitches look really messy and unattractive. This looks so much easier and neater. I can’t wait to try it out.
I think the magic knot is what, many moons ago, I was taught as a Girl Guide, is called a Fisherman’s knot. Used for join 2 lengths of fishing line. Great tutorial thank you 😊
Heavens, this is marvelous. I actually have a stash of laundry cord that I want to use for baskets to sort my crazy collection of threads. But was struggling to get a neat result with the machine. This is soooo much better. Thank you! BTW, I hate thimbles but curiously get on well with a leather Sashiko version. Probably because it doesn’t fully cover my finger. 😊
I’m looking forward to trying this; thank you. I’ve previously used machine zigzag and a jeans needle with my cloth twine. I made a summer basket bag. I’m still busy doing my sideboard runner.
Yes I've done a few by machine, also gives a good result but I like this process better... 😁 If you post a pic of your runner somewhere on social media when it's done, I'd love to see it. ♥️
I made a saucer for my pin cushion the other day using the blanket stitch and it looks so untidy. But it is my first attempt so I’ll forgive myself 😂 I do prefer your way, using the figure of eight, it looks so nice. Thank you ❤
What you said, you like making useful objects, I like that too. Or at least the objects seem to be useful ... I do not always really make use of them ... I made several vessels/ baskets/bags, in different sizes, of different materials and in different techniques. I think the tiniest ones are the most useful, they can hold some very tiny things (stitchmarkers, earrings), so those things are easy to find.
20:00 i like the way you've tied this knot and the explanation of what's happening. I've seen this with s curves to do it in one action, but it's too hard for me to recall again months later when i need it. Knowing that the two just get tied and doing it in 2 steps, I'll never forget it. Thanks!
I’ve tried joining like the knot and I can tell you I have never been able to do it. Love your beautiful baskets, another thing I’d love to try. Thanks
