  • @topangasunrise
    @topangasunrise 6 місяців тому

    Baffles me how it doesn't just come untwisted being as it's only two strands as opposed to a braid of three! :). Great video, thanks much.

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  6 місяців тому +1

      It's because both strands are twisted the same way...so they end up twisting around each other..
      Have a look at some garden string.. it's the same process exactly.
      Or..the same as when your thread twists up whilst you're stitching. You have to keep untwisting your thread to keep it smooth.
      🙂

This was over 40 years ago at a 17th century living history museum. I don't remember the fibre, wool, linen or other. We tied it to something across the room.

    • @marionsworld24

I get so many compliments on it from all ages and sorts of people. I am always looking for projects to use my twine yarn for. I like your idea of using it as a necklace - I have some sari silk yarn and a few lovely lampwork beads that need to come out into the world. And, I'm looking forward to watching your shoes video. I'm watching this thinking about how I anchor my cordage, and then at 12:16 you mention it! I wrap it around my foot as I build up length. I use my second toe.

    LOVE the thrifted silk scarf! Wondering how a satin or grosgrain ribbon would look🤔🤔🤔👍🌹

      You'd have to try it, but I suspect it would be too stiff at the edges. 😏 But...that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try and see what happens!

    I learned a long time ago by using an old-fashioned round door knob

      👍 that's good too..but you'd have to be standing up to do it...

    Love this two handed method of yours but I prefer to avoid such a thick joining area your method causes. I have a needle and thread nearby and just pop in a quick couple of stitches to strengthen my join and carry on. 🙂

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  6 місяців тому

      Yes sewing definitely makes the join smoother. 🧵🪡

      Both methods are good. The twine is identical too. I'm just giving you a different option in how to make it where you don't have to be holding it all the time keeping it from unraveling... I hope it works for you 🤞
