Absolutely wonderful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. When I was growing up (I am 64), Mom did not allow TV watching without some needlepoint or craft in our hands. Idle hands. I still watch shows and movies with my hands busy doing something! Thanks again for the great instruction.
I made mine for my Easter garland! I attached fabric decoupaged wooden Easter shapes. It looks fabulous, I am very happy with it. Tfs
What a great idea! I’m going to use the twine to decorate my journals! Thanks, you are so good in your teaching.
Lorrie ,Lorrie, Lorrie this tutorial is wonderful. I love this because I'm an antique and vintage type of lady. I made this rope for a vintage headboard using the colors I wanted. After I finished the rope, I twisted some Dollar Tree bling ribbon around it and it looks amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have made crochet rugs, back in the 90's with strips of fabric before, but WOW does that take strong forearm muscles after the first few rounds. THIS method is so much better!!! LOVE THIS!!!! Thanks for sharing.
I hate to be the one to tell you, but I think you're right-handed! At least when you're making this twine. Love the video--thank you!!! :)
Or maybe she's one of those rare lucky people that happen to be ambidextrous & is comfortable using either 1 & can switch back & 4th whenever she wants! It's rare, but not impossible..
I love these.
Lol I was thinking the same thing, I'm right handed and I would be doing this the way she's showing it on the video, it would take me forever if I had to do it the other way because I'm NOT left handed 😀
I sew pillowcases for charity and have a lot of salvage strips after I square off the pillowcases. The strips are thinner so I braid them together and do the same on the sewing machine. I love the look of the finished items. Thanks for sharing.
I'm new to rope bowls, mostly I hand spin fiber from my alpacas into yarn. You've given me inspiration to spin fabric strips on my spinning wheel and ply them together! Woo hoo! Thanks so much for the video!
I would love to see that process
Love it. Perfect for all my scraps! Can't wait to try this, thank you!
YES!!! This is something I can join in and not have to have any kind of cutting machine. LOL. One day I hope to have a Cricut. Now I need to acquire more fabric to have more scraps from other projects. Just getting started is fun because there are so many things to do. I've wanted to do a quilt for years but I guess it wasn't the right time. Now I finally start but at a much later age. It's all good. 💗😊💗
Thank you for doing this tutorial. I absolutely love your fabric twine. They all came out so pretty and colorful! 💕
What a marvelous use for fabric scrap odds and ends. Thanks for sharing.
I love this. I have lots of scraps and never know what to do with them now I know. I have a bunch of baby scraps of fabric I think I will make a rug for in front of my new granddaughters crib.
Making the snip in both pieces to attach cloth is so much easier than trying to fold them together! Your rope looks so easy to do. I ended up braiding cloth together to make a rug, but I'm going to take it all apart and redo it your way and remake the rug! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!
Cute coaster and trivet. You can make these braid easily while watching TV. Great way to use scraps. You have an awesome fabric stash! Thanks for the video. Hope you show the rug you make.
Lorrie, Thank you for great instructions. Looks like a great way to use up scraps 👏
This was an amazing video! I am eager to do this. Will definitely plan for this project. You are awesome Lorrie. Always thinking of fun projects!
HOW FUN! GOOD JOB Abby! I'm gonna make one for my outdoor round table for a table top!! Love the snip- slip- knot -add on!!😃. Then I can leave it on the table when it rains or easy wash. I think it will be heavy enough not to fly away or maybe insert some ties underneath. Thank you.
Fabulous!! Late to this demo (2023) always love Lorrie's ingenuity and detiled explanations.
I love my fellow left handers!!!! So easy to follow you! thanks for a great idea! A few mugs rugs for Christmas with a cute cup!
Love how you join the strips!! I have been using old t-shirt strips and loving it. You just made it so much easier!!!
Love ❤️❤️❤️!! And look at your stash of fabric on your shelves! 😯 I was thinking the same thing, that it would be great for one of those bowls. Thanks again for another great tutorial!
Tyfs!
I think I would undo the end knot and sew the end down 🤔
I like the idea of squares and rectangles personally. I have some old jeans that are not worth donating- but this would make a neat upcyle project!❤
Thank you so much for this, I’m in lockdown near Sydney, Australia. I did as you said and made it watching tv, a great way to pass the time. Grateful!
Love this method, I have never seen it done this way. Great job!!!! I will definitely make this rug. ❤
That joint trick is amazing! Love it.
Love the joining method you used!
So cute. I love crafts I can do while watching TV/listening to music. Thanks for great tutorial. I crochet & sew. I like to bring the fibers together. Gonna try 1 strand cotton yarn other of cotton fabric! Happy crafting!
So neat I’m left handed and can see what you are doing.🇨🇦❤️
This looks like my next addition!!!! I'm afraid to go into my fabric stash!!!!!! I ready to start ripping fabric!!!!! Thank you so much for the fanstastic tutorial! Your fabrics are gorgeous and made beautiful twine ropes!!!!!!!!
Love the look Lorrie, I’ve been thinking of braiding some of my scraps.. Thank you for sharing, Chris-Raleigh NC
This is crazy awesome! You are excellent giving your instructions!!!
Thank you so very much for your time~
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Great tutorial, Lori! I think making the twine into bowl cozies would be a great idea!
I need some comparatively narrow cord...has anyone tried this using yarn and more narrow fabric strips, held together? (One strip yarn worth one strip fabric)
Those will be gorgeous!
Great idea! Could out dated polyester double knit be used instead of cotton? Throw rugs would never wear out!
I love your videos since I’m also a lefty. But you know what they say “we use the right half of our brains.”
I love this. I will definitely be making these. Thanks so much!
As always, great tutorial! Wonderful idea for scraps!TFS!🌴😎
Great video Thank you. I can remember my grandmother doing this she made chair pads and rugs.
At the end I would cut the night off and reach through with her crochet needle and grab that end and pull out in through a couple previous stitches or circles or twist and then do my stitching you wouldn’t even be able to tell where that ended if you did it that way leaving the night on there makes a drop off
We did Sharon. What do you charge for the bowls tc?
Fantastic joining method, can't wait to try this!
You are amazing at whatever you do. I learned how to do pouches from you . And so much more .
Fab tutorial well presented, easy to follow and a great idea. Thank you
I love this! Always looking for something to do in front of tv or when I’m traveling for business
This tutorial was amazing you really did a good job explaining in a way that I understood it I hope to see more of your videos thank you
This is sew cool, yet another project to do!
Love this ... I see a rope bowl. Get it to large coaster size then pick up sides as you sew to create sides. Thanks.
I have made rope bowls but I gotta try this. It is much more colorful! I’m starting tomorrow!
Happy to see another lefty demonstrate!
Love it! A great use for scraps!
I really enjoyed this video, like the joining method !! 😍thank you !
Great instruction. Thank you💕
Love this for scraps!
Thank you so much! I'm enjoying making a little bowl.
Thank you for this tutorial. Very easy.
Thanks for the join idea, watched several of these how to's but didn't like the idea of the join, this would work brilliantly
Thank you for this! It's brilliant.
Those turned out beautiful!
So cute! I need to make placemats.
Love this idea. Thank you.
this helped me a lot! Thank you!
Making several coaster-size then attaching them around the edge of a trivet size for a door mat.

That is amazing. I have alot of fabric just sitting in my closet, cause I can't sew any more. So if we don't a sewing machine I guess we can sew it by hand also right. It would be nice to make a bunch of coasters. I had some but little by little they disappeared. You know you can also make some to put your hot plates or pans. Thanks for sharing this tutorial with all of us and for giving me some ideas on how to use all that material I have. Thank you. Take care and God Bless you 👋.
Awesome tutorial wz strips.. THANKS 🙏💕💕
Extremely good tutorial. Many thanks
Thanks. Very good tutorial.
Excellent directions. Thank you!
I love this. I tried to use old t-shirt scraps to crochet a rug but I wasn’t happy with the results. The knots joining pieces were too big. The making snips and join would resolve that. I like the idea of making the rope and then crocheting the rug.
Loved this video I will sure give it a try thank you for sharing 👍
Gotta love that automatic thread cutter....
Love love love this idea ❤
Very good lesson and an amazing result!
Super duper, Lorrie!
Love your tutorial I will make a bowl. Thank you for sharing!
That would make great cording for the drawstring bags.
I’ll bet the three step stitch would also look nice!
I learned another method to do basically the same thing, but I think it's easier on the fingers: Wrap the cloth strips [flat] around clothesline cording (or whatever size you'd like from hardware or fabric store), then zig-zag stitch to form flat or bowl-shaped items. You wrap as you sew so no special joining. I learned this in a Bernina sewing machine class. Enjoyed learning your method. Interestingly, I notice your sewing machine progression has been the same as mine (Singer->Janome,->Bernina)! Would enjoy a video tour of your new craft room.
Gaila Spreen I have a video from last year on that method. Another fun way. I like the look of both methods but they do look differently
That's great if you have a couple hundred feet of clothesline around the house, but not so much if you don't. And even worse if you can't expand your budget to buy it
Very thorough. Thank you!!
Good idea, will be trying it.
Thank you for sharing! So cool!
Similar to the Clothesline Rope projects, great way to use up scraps.
Beautiful! Thank you!
I've got a rope I'm working on but I'm doing a simple 3 strand braid and I'd sewn my strips together. Then I got a board from the hubs shop and put a cup hook at one end making a board to hold the knot by looping it over the cup hook. (a nail or screw could work, too).
I like your twisting method, that's different and I'd like to try it as well.
Do you have photos you could share with the braided fabric?
Love it ❤💚💙🧡💜!!!!! When sewing did you have to change the needle ? I want to make some twine to knit up some chair pads for my porch
Thanks for sharing, I love this!
Very fun. Love your sewing machine
Love them
looks great cant wait to try
Cuuuute! I'm going to try making tiny bowls for succulents.
Love it. Thank you.
You tutorial is very good. Thank you .
Thank you for this tutorial
Very clear tutorial
LOL!!! Oh my godness- this is practically my HAIR routine!!! Minus the sewing of course. Seriously, I rope braid my hair into pigtails on the days that I wash it, let it air dry, and take the rope braids out- it tames my natural curls and waves, and eliminates the need for heat styling...
I guess I could learn to make a coaster next! 🤣
Awesome video! 😊❤👍
What a wonderful way to tame my curls! Great tip ❤️😀
@@rachelperkins9721 oh yeah, for sure Rachel, the rope braids totally works wonders in hair!!! Gives it shape, hold, and smoothness, and without using any heat!
The rope braided pigtails also ensure that you have noce spirals, and not crunky crinkly crimps like regular braids would do to the hair lol
@@thethriftyfawn do you braid just like the fabric? It sounds fantastic
This looks easy like you said. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love it, thaaaank u for sharing
So cute!
Great video. Thanks!
Love these!!
Thank you!
I have made 15 of your triangle pouches, and zipper bags too!
So pretty.
