  • This fix can't take literally 10 minutes to have it back up and running. We have a 2000 PSI Ryobi electric pressure washer that won't turn on, so I purchased an inline GFCI plug to fix the problem. These electric pressure washers are super handy because they are improving in their pressure without all of the noise from a gas powered unit.

    "If you guys have a Ryobi pressure washer that's not turning on it's very possible that it's just the GFCI.
    You take this off, and you purchase one of these guys at Home Depot, or on Amazon for about 20 bucks and it's an inline GFCI. Nine times out of ten when you change that out, you will be able to
    plug it in here if this light's on and this lights on then it's going to work."

    Thanks for the info. I did that with a new gfci . Both lights came on, and then the circuit at the wall tripped

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  4 місяці тому

      It could be that the pressure washer is pulling too much amperage for that circuit breaker.

    But if you take off the original gfic it won't have a green light no more will it?
    Or after removing the original gfic does the inline gfic come with a green light to go by?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  10 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, they usually have a new green light.

      Might just be a faulty switch. Can you check current to it past the switches? With a multimeter?

    What if both the gfci light and the washer light is on? But when powered on it doesn't actually work? Mines a 3000psi electric, I bought 6 months ago. I take very good care of all my tools.

      If the GFCI light is on and the washer light is on, then it is likely something internal, and probably not the GFCI. If you don't have a warranty and are comfortable opening it up, it's possible there might be a sensor or something inside of the washer enclosure

      It might just be a bad fuse. What if you’d replace the fuse

      Overheating causes mine to shut down. I unplug it wait 15 min and it starts back up for another 30 min or so.
      Seems to shut down after washing for about 30 min when you let off the trigger.
      Then I wait 15 min. And it starts back up.
      Nice washer,. but it can't keep up with a large job.

    I received a brand new 2000 psi, 1.2gpm Ryobi Electric washer yesterday, tried to use today. Green lights on both GFCI and washer. Turn it on, runs for 2 seconds and it turns off. I am not tripping any breakers and have tried 3 different outlets. Advice?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  3 місяці тому

      Well, sounds like it could be overheating. Was water flowing through it at the time?

    The green light on my GFCI plug comes on but the green light on the pressure washer does not come on. Does that indicate that the pressure washer itself is bad?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  4 місяці тому

      Likely, but it might not mean the whole thing is bad. Maybe just the switch.

    What does it means if my GFCI plug led lights up, but the start button on the unit does not?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  Місяць тому +1

      Not sure. Could be that the start switch is bad. If you know how to use a multimeter, you can check the switch on either end of the connection to see if it has continuity or not

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  10 місяців тому +1

      Good question. Could be that the motor is burned out, or maybe replace the switch for the pressure washer? Sounds like the GFCI is okay. Is the light on the machine turning on?

    • @Kbarstill
      @Kbarstill 10 місяців тому +2

      @JasonSipe16 no. The gfci is but machine no. I took apart the switch part where the spring, white plunger and washers are and cleaned per a video. Still nothing.
      Should the GFCI plug make a loud buzzing noise though ??

      Any solution on your end?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  3 місяці тому

      It's probably the pressure washer. If you are getting a light on the GFCI reset, and on the unit itself, you try taking a multimeter on the power going past the on/off switch of the pressure washer. If you have power, it's possible that your motor is not functioning anymore

      Clean the brushes and armature with emery cloth Both green lights were on it would not run. Especially if it stopped running after several hours of use which mine did. It runs perfectly now

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  Місяць тому +1

      All kinds of reasons. Sometimes, a serious reason that needs to be fixed, and other times, could just be a surge, or some moisture.
