Thank you SO much! I knew it was the GFCI plug, but I didn't realize that I could detach it from the cable. I was already looking at buying a new $300-$400 power washer when I found your video. I followed your link, got same-day delivery, and I now have my power washer back good as new. Really appreciate you!
Thank you for this it worked perfectly! I’ve had my Ryobi power washer sitting in my garage for YEARS and this literally took 10 minutes.. thank you again!
This was exactly what I needed to get my power washer back up and running. The light on the GFCI came on, but the light on the power button did not. Replaced the GFCI and it's working as good as ever.
This pressure washer is great. I've used it in so many circumstances and many hours. The GFCI plug went out so I hardwired it temporarily. That lasts a while until the motor started sounding bad and smoking so I think it's done. I was hoping to be able to buy a replacement motor which I've not been able to find a new motor. I would have also properly repaired the wire. Home Depot is selling the upgraded model for $100 atm. I buy this years ago for Black Friday for $60 and besides the wire and hose issue this thing has surprised me for how much I've used it.
I have the same pressure washer, and had the same problem. Bought a replacement GFCI on Amazon, got it overnight but decided to get the three wire instead of two in case one day the unit dies I can use the replacement GFCI for something else that does have a ground. It was the same price. And of course after I got the unit working, the wand decided to spring up a major leak. Couldn't fix it. Had a tiny pinhole in the Lance.
Just purchased the 1800 PSI 1.2 gal per hour electric power washer. Used it twice and worked perfectly. Now, when I hit the ON switch it shuts off immediately. I've checked the GFCI and no problems. I'm lost. Thanks for any suggestions.
My ON button doesn't light up, but my GFCI light is on, but when I hit the reset button the GFCI just blink and stays green and you can hear a click and the machine wants to start but it doesn't start, and when I tried to hit the test button nothing happened. I don't know what to do, if you can help me that would be awesome Thanks..
My Ryobi 1600 PSI 1.2 GPM GFCI LED does light up green and there is not buzzing sound. When I press the start button on the washer, the LED on the button doesn't light up and the machine doesn't start. Does this mean the GFCI is broken?
You need to have a GFCI on there because if you get electrocuted, it will short out out real quick and prevent you from being electrocuted and shut the electricity off.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw those wires and thought at first they were backwards.

Thanks for posting this, I'm currently having the same symptoms and am going to try replacing the GFCI plug before digging further into the machine

I've been really happy with it. Strong enough to wash cars and equipment, but not so strong that you have to worry about blasting paint off!
Easy fix how many people would have thrown that out. Good job saving it from the landfill!
Thanks! Yep, much better than throwing it away and buying a new one!
Hi
Time is flying
Have a great week
Thanks! I hope you have a great week too!
Thank you parner
Always welcome

$20! Thanks I was trying to find the plug but I’m an idiot and had no idea what to get.
Did you find the right one on Amazon?
@@livingon80 ya. Used your video link. Hope you got the amazing $.03 from the affiliate link. 🤣
🤣 I'll put that $.03 to good use!

I'm in the exact same boat
I'm not sure. Is the breaker the outlet on overloaded maybe?
thanks for explaining this. mine just stop working
Hopefully this will do the trick!
@@livingon80 it worked. thanks alot
Oh that's great! You're welcome!

My pressure washer is a year old do you think I need a new plug
I wouldn't replace it if its still working but if its not working and buzzing like mine, it's definitely worth fixing!
@livingon80 mine just died when I was using it and it doesn't make any noise

It's very possible. The good thing with Amazon is if it doesn't fix it, you could always return it. Best of luck!
@@livingon80 Yeah, that's what I thinking as well. Thanks.
@@livingon80 Thank you so much, I've replaced the GFCI and it work.
@@cyprezz excellent!!! Glad it worked for you! Take care!
Is that really neded or will work on a normal plug

Agreed. It's something that technically would work but like @RobertoBeretta148 said, that's a bad idea.
I changed the GFCI and still doesn’t start
I would double check the wiring and make sure the breaker in the house isn't tripped. Good luck!
It has a 3 year warranty. Take it back for a replacement.
Thank you for letting us know there is a 3 year warranty! I've used Ryobi warranty before on a 40V battery and they were great to deal with.
