If Amy Lee sang happy birthday to me, in my living room, I wouldn't know it was her. "Unmistakeable" voices are women like Aretha, Gladys Knight, and Patsy Cline. No disrespect to Amy Lee, but the best version of this song doesn't even have Amy in it. Amy is awesome, but she ain't that awesome.

Thats because he was going to rehab. She wouldn't let him do inpatient, so he was driving so much for out patient. It wasn't working, but she would b!tch constantly about him being gone all the time trying to get help. Rough brakeup, and then she wrote that as well as others about him. Made her career of trashing him. While he never once did that to her. That smirk at the end of call me when you're sober, was a snob look directed 100% to Shaun.

It wasn't her fault that he was a drug and alcohol abuser, you can't tie yourself down to people like that because they will eventually take you down with them
@@jasont4670 he was like that before they started dating. She was manipulative, and is the one who kept messing up his rehab with an ultimatum. Of course music can be about life experiences. But she is very toxic, and was mad in the end it didn't turn out how she wanted. She is a narcissist, and revenge was writing songs about him, and the situation. She controlled and played him for years and when he walked away, she had a fit. It was also more then 1 song, its just that most people know that as her hit, and don't know the background behind it. It was her way of getting the last word, knowing he wouldn't stoop to her level and write songs about her. He tried bettering himself, and she wouldn't let him unless it was her way. When he finally had enough, she wrote trashy songs about him.
@@staciehalcomb7580 I had a ex-girlfriend like that I knew she smoked weed before I got with her but we love them so much we think we can change their ways but we can't and she finally realized that that she was being held back by his demons and she couldn't change that but for you to sit there and say that she bashes him and she made her living through all of their misfortunes she only made one song about him she was great without him and she's great after him

Originally it was recorded by Seether without Amy Lee and it actually wasn't meant to be a love song (even though it's an amazing love song). It was actually written about the lead singer, Shaun Morgan, missing his daughter. Then when Shaun started dating Amy Lee they re-recorded the song together. They eventually broke up largely due to his drinking... but Shaun didn't know their relationship was over until Evanescence released the song Call Me When You're Sober (which I also highly recommend checking out) and he heard it on the radio.
