RUSH toured with KISS way back in the day and Rush said, "Those guys know how to talk to girls." and Kiss said, "Those guys know how to play their instruments."
🤪🙄🤣😂🤣😂
@@andrewpetik2034 I saw an interview with Gene Simmons about the tour and he said like, they would stop by Rush's dressing room asking them if they wanted to go get some groupies and they were reading books. LOL.
@@JColeComedian
That's great!!
@@JColeComedian I saw that too thats awesome
Yup, authentic
when he said “these niggaz is music nerds”
*i felt that*
What, - is there something wrong with music nerds...?
@@johnparker1290 Not at all, and if you pay attention to the way Shaq spoke of them it was a compliment. Said in a way that clearly implied that he identified with them in regards to how much they love the craft of the art of music.
@@steve86sabas - I've got to work on my insinuation skills. I meant I too am a music nerd and that I really find no offense in being called such. I meant it as humor, not complaint...
@@johnparker1290 Oh, I see that now, the big issue with the written word. Oh so hard to get meaning across with out tone and facial expressions.
😂😂😂😂
Yep three minus one now. Brought tears to my eyes. RIP professor
Same my dude. Only other time I broke down and cried was when Dimebag Darrell passed. Legends never die.
When I first heard Neil passed I was in shock--more than saddened. It's been a week and now I am hurt more than I am shocked. I've reached the point of watery eyes. Goodbye, Neil. A lot of people will miss you, your words, your rhythms, your books, your travel stories, your feelings sang in choruses and verses.... I am devastated.
They are starting to leave and it hurts.
RIP Neal, you will always be remembered, and will always inspiring!
"One, tow, three, add without subtraction
Sound on sound

No flow without the other...."
Goodbye, Neil. You were incredible.
Saw nobody had posted the lyrics so figured I'd help out:

🤣
Under rated comment right here lol
you forgot bass solo
👍👍👍👍👍🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
The lyrics were written in Rio by the greatest fans ever.
Watch YYZ live in Rio, Brazil. The crowd sings every note of the instrumental!
100% this video.
🔥🔥🔥
Yes! Watch a massive crowd sing along with THREE GUYS making this beautiful noise!
stretchwith, That is the best version!
Everyone recommends Rio, but I like the Exit...Stage Left version of YYZ better. two words...drum solo
Alex Lifeson is arguably one of the most under-rated guitarists ever.
So fucking true!!!!!
Amen.
How abput Martin Barre then?
Correct!!!
Def keeping up with the time changes is no joke and he’s clean live too
This dude is awesome. Everything he points out is 100% on point. As a long time Rush fan, it's great to see someone else experiencing their music for the first time. ;o)
I have to believe that Geddy, Alex and Neil would love this guys videos and his appreciation of their music.
It's nice to see another side of the fandom spectrum who gets out of his usual comfort zone and interprets the music honestly to his audience. No Life Shaq is very true in his reactions and I can see why he has such a large audience. At first I was a little put off when I first watched one of his videos but if you stick with him, he's right on and he has a great sense of humor too.
Daniel Hogan you're exactly right bro I'm so thankful that I found him in my feed because I had subscribed to Lost in Vegas and those guys are really good too but Shaq is just pure gold bro pure gold. Pax. As in peace, in Latin
Daniel Hogan he is cool!!
I think there is an obvious reason you're surprised.
"Who is on the drums?..." - Sit down, son. Let me tell you a story...
I’m a year late but damn...
😂🤣
Too funny! Love this guy
❤😢❤
RIP Neil. I hope you're up there chilin with Buddy Rich.
Oh, the joy of discovering Rush. Never gets old. LOL
@James Wimer That's awesome, especially considering 2112 was released in 1976. If someone handed me a Rush album from the future I think I'd change forever too! ;)
My daughter went to a Waffle House and loaded up songs on the jukebox including "Tom Sawyer." There was a family eating in there; one of them was a boy of about ten. That first note hit and his fork stopped moving. The eyes went wide. Welcome to the tribe, kid - welcome to the tribe.
IKR? I've literally spent hours this weekend watching people enjoy bands I've enjoyed for over 30 years. Many of the songs I haven't heard in over a decade or so....it's been a great weekend!
Music Nerds! Greatest compliment you can give to these guys!
I agree!
Yep
Perfect!!
Here here. A genius insight. Never thought to describe them that way until Shaq said it, but now I use it all the time.
'who is on the drums' is the funniest thing ever.
roof pizza imagine if he saw his 30 anniversary drum solo
Neil Peart is saying, "welcome my brother". RIP
Nothing else need be said...lmao!
LoL
It’s just “your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer”...that’s who
“It's always a happy day when YYZ appears on our luggage tags,” says Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for the band.
R.I.P. Neil
Every time I transit through Pearson (YYZ), I feel the same, for I'm back on Canadian soil.
the airport give'th the airport take'th away
Rush is from the Toronto area. YYZ is the airport code for Toronto Pearson International. The cymbals at the beginning is Morse code for YYZ. They used to listen to the flight radio and would listen for the YYZ Morse code to know they were home.
Thanks for that, RR954. I never knew that!
And because it is Canada. It is pronounced Y Y Zed! 😉
How awsome is a story about how just a code signal at an airport in Toronto, Canada, became and evolved to be an amazing instrumental rock song by RUSH. Great song to dance to as well...lol
Also, FYI, It's not Cymbals. It's a mini Xylophone that has a German name: Glockenspiel.
Wow!👍
You know... every reaction you have a Rush fan smiles and silently says... yes. (You get it now...) lol.
Hahahaha yep
Exactly!
KC Burns Amen
That was how I felt the first time I heard them! Then I had the privilege to see them live!
KC Burns EXACTLY!!
YYZ is what happens when you have MUSICIANS instead of "recording artists"
Not a lot of craftsmen like those three around these days unfortunately
Buddy!!!!! SO WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
say that louder for the 3 cord progression pop idiots in the back....
So much talent musically. Perfectionists of they're crafts!
Every "recording artist" across every spectrum has a role to play.
You may not like the "3 chord progression pop idiots in the back", just don't listen to them. Now you're good...
"Is they gonna talk, they gonna say somethin, or just give us this greatness with these instruments?", PERFECT!
YYZ is the Airport code for Rush's hometown Toronto Canada.
MonkigunMkII Flash and the rhythm at the beginning is the Morse code for YYZ
You two have educated me more than anything else has today.
Damn rush knowledge nerds! Lol.
We learn something new everyday..
Thanks monkigun and john.
Was hoping somebody would say this. LOL
YYZ is the transmitter code for Toronto’s international airport. The intro to the song is actually Morse code for YYZ.
HAM radio station NV6R approves this message.
On his Album "Amarok" Mike Oldfield uses Morse Code to spell out "Fuck Off RB" in a dig at Virgin Records boss Richard Branson.
Which is why they are music nerds.
@@starsailor9774 Wasn't it Branson and Virgin records who pretty much ok'ed him to make Tubular Bells when nobody else would?
@@Neuromancer2112 yep but Oldfield was only 19 and didn't realise Branson was basically ripping him off on the contract... The Album was selling millions of copies and he was getting only £25 a week from it.

This is great! "Who is that drummer?" Why it's Neil Peart, sir.
No doubt. Or as us long time fans know him as "The Professor"...

Rookies like Mike Portnoy try to ascend to this level of drumming
He's no Lars Ulrich.
It was wayy funnier when he asked if Bowie and Freddie M were friends or if he just did a cameo in Under Pressure XD
You are cracking me up!! Tears from my eyes!! Rush has been my favorite since 1978 and I love seeing people discover them! Keep it up
Dave Hooper first concert I ever saw. Liked it so much, they’re my concert record holder at 11.

There's some great concert footage of Rush playing YYZ in Rio. Best crowd response! Rush sounded just as great live as in the studio.
It brings me joy to see someone experience Rush for the first time... It never gets old.😃😃😃

Yes, definitely watch YYZ live in Rio. I guarantee you've never seen a crowd get into it like this one.
The singer sometimes plays the bass with one hand, the keyboard with the other, and sings all at the same time LIVE.
The best thing about you Shaq is you get it! I had goosebumps watching you react. My first time hearing Rush back in 77 same reaction, WTF am I hearing? Great stuff

Live La villa Strangiato, on the Exit Stage Left Album, it's like YYZ on steroids
Agreed. It's a _lot_ tougher to play (as a drummer, anyway) than YYZ. They're both just _so much fun_ to listen to *and* play, though!
Dude I posted on his other video that he should listen to La Villa. Fuck dude it would blow his god damn mind out his head
Ill take that or the studio version if it means an actual reaction
La Villa strangiato is incredible. I'd watch it live

Unmatched in all of music. To truly enjoy rush, one must watch them in a live way. Geddy lee plays the bass, sings and works keyboards simultaneously. This is one of the greatest instrumentals ever played.
And plays Moog Taurus Pedals with his feet!
I love how he has respect for every type of music unlike everyone else. And RIP Neal
Neil Peart on drums one of the best Alex Lifeson on guitar and Geddy Lee on bass keyboard and vocals.
Another good 3 man band is Triumph
ZZ Top too :)
Triumph was good but not anywhere near the same league as Rush. Then again , Im not sure there is any other band in the league of Rush.
Also Canadian
Primus is an incredible 3 piece
MJ Pharina/Farina there are many
The facial expressions on this guy crack me up!😂👍
He was getting it on.
Let me enlighten your day with some fun facts, brother. YYZ, pronounced "why-why-zed", is the abbreviated identification code for the Toronto Pearson International Airport, which the band frequently travels through as it is near their hometown. Alex Lifeson brought the idea to the band after he heard the distinct rhythm of the letters YYZ being played in morse code, and they built this entire crunchy groove off of it. To quote Peart and Lee, "It's always a happy day when YYZ appears on our luggage tags". I think this song embodies that feeling of doing what they love, jamming out, traveling to far off places and blowing people's minds with their sound. Amazing stuff, huh? - . - - | - . - - | - - . .
Now imagine if the headphones were INSIDE your hood.
well done
I bailed out at 19 seconds, if an "appreciator" intentionally puts a barrier between him and the music...he is elevating his style over the musician's skill and talent
Now imagine if you took care of your own fucking life, you piece of shit. It doesn't fucking matter how Shaq is reacting to it.
i'm pretty sure if that was a white dude, you would be ok with that.
@@the_nautillus9176 Um... No? I don't care what race he is, it's stupid to intentionally put a barrier between you and music.

Xanadu is my favorite Rush tune
No, no, no no!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! "TOM SAWYER" Geez?
I gotta give it up to, @MarkNichols: Excellent 2 choices! "XANADU" Off the Live Lp. (Exit Stage Left)
& "YYZ" From the Live Lp. (RUSH, LIVE IN RIO)
2 Reasons- "XANADU" Live, From (Exit Stage Left) IMO! RUSH, Epically lash strapped & nailed that song to the fukin floor!
2: "YYZ" (RUSH-Live in RIO)

The most interesting part of this IMO - the main tune of the song is literally "YYZ", in Morse code.
(As others have said, YYZ is the airport code for Toronto's main airport, and the band's from the Toronto area.)
Great Observation!
React to RUSH-LA VILLA STRANGIATO, it will destroy you.

I agree 100%
Villa Strangiato is a must!

I played bass with a band in the '90s that did La Villa... The Exit Stage Left version. Talk about some ridiculous stuff to have to deal with... Took damn near forever. That part where Geddy crams about 400 notes into about five seconds right in the middle of the song took the better part of a day to piece together and another half a day to start hitting it reliably. Wish I still knew that...
If didn’t say in the comments,,the bells at beginning is the code for Toronto international airport,,code YYZ..Far I remember,Neil head that beat and stayed in his head,,starts the YYZ SONG
