Eddie: Picks up guitar
Guitar: We can talk about this...
Most underrated comment by far
I second that notion.
. . . NO
Lol
It's Eddie doing a bad ass great guitar solo! It never gets old!!😀
Who's all here after the passing of one of the greatest guitarist ever known? Rock in Power Ed.
Tears fall like rain. . .
Best memory of the great one being reacted to by the best eruption video on youtube....(shaq has the best reaction of the reaction vids). Rock In Peace Eddie
Had to listen to first time reactions from one of the greatest ever. Indeed Rock in peace EDDY
One of the best but yes. Was shocked!
I am
"That guitar was innocent 3 minutes ago" that's when I lost control of my body from laughing
Yeah. On that day Eddie Van Halen made literal guitar porn. I'm surprised he wasn't arrested for that violation

Shaq: "Never put this guy on guitar hero"
Guitar Hero: "Van Halen saved our franchise"
"How is he doing that" you ask? Well, some of us have been asking that question for 40 years.
Right 👉 🤘
Lol
Living proof of making a deal with the devil, or, aliens
Amen!
Tapping is what EVH started with Eruption.
Eddie passed away today. We lost a legend. RIP. 2020 truly is the worst year.
rip very great guitarist i hope we can all come together and realize how good this was
Rip
man i really hate this year, there's so much going on
I saw a meme which joked that aliens came to 2020 and gave us foresight. Hence, 2020 is hindsight.
Let's not forget about Neil Peart either.
just so you're aware, Eddie was completely blackout drunk during this performance, to the point that he doesn't even remember doing this. That's how much a legend this man is, literally did one of the greatest guitar solos of all time and he was completely out of it the whole time; also having his eyes closed most of the performance showing how much he was just playing from the heart and his pure skill was carrying him to glory.
He said he was drunk dawg not even that deep lol
even if he was just drunk it's still incredible! if he was black out drunk that is a man playing from the soul and his soul saying nawwww I know you drunk but we still gonna show these people some incredible music.
Bro was jamming while the world spinning
Little bullshit. He probably was toasted but definitely wasn’t blacked. He’s been on staged blacked before and plays absolute shit. This is one of his best solos of all time, actually this is his best live solo in my opinion. He definitely wasn’t blacked out here. Go look up a video of him being blacked on stage
There was nothing "blackout drunk" about that. Was he under the influence, most certainly. But drunk, no. His actions don't bear that out.
"How is this even possible?" That's what everyone else in the world is still asking themselves.
Very much skill and talent
@@KentuckyHunter_7 Indeed
Excuse my French but it’s fucking ridiculous. No human should be this skilled in any particular craft. Rare class of human beings he’s in
If jimmie hendrix and steve vai and him played guitar all at the same time together the world would implode
I would put blackmore in there with rhythm...
A fine price to pay
We won but at what cost
I’m pretty sure that was how the Big Bang happened.
and then explode
I saw Van Halen perform Eruption live and he sliced his finger about three minutes in and still played flawlessly all the way through. Blood all over his guitar and everything. Legend.
That’s what I call amazing guitar playing
How he slice his finger?
David Heller electric guitar strings are hard asf lol
He's not a legend he's a god.
@@HardKore5250 probably on the guitar since it was a couple mins into the solo 😃 those strings will fick ur fingers up
That moment when Eddie Van Halen leaves Shaq speechless at the end of the video and he just walks out of the room. That's the reaction I was hoping for. RIP Eddie. One of the BEST guitarists that ever walked the earth.
No the greatest to ever pick one up. Sorry my opinion, changed everything about how they play today. Most influential.
The best*. Absolute god 🎸
who else to name the E string after ?
It's totally Eddie ate dynamite good bye Eddie. Or E A D G B E for standard tuning. Best guitarist ever.

@@seanoconnor5730 thats fucked up
@@Matt-ej7sl how so? I'm saying I'm sad he passed away.
@@seanoconnor5730 im on ur side. OP's comment was a little ridiculous. EVH was EVH.... not a show off... simply a virtuoso musician who absolutely loved what he was doing in life.

That guitar needs therapy lol
That guitar was squirtin'!!!...lol.
That guitar was having a real good time lol
That’s a show that every single person in the crowd remembers the day, time, venue, smell, and exactly what was going on in their life when they were blessed to be there.
Roanoke, VA, May 1986, Roanoke Civic Center. Blew me away.
Back in those days, when you went to see Van Halen, you went to hear Eddie, everything else was just a bonus. Love the reaction

I'm grateful I was able to see this man live four times. RIP Eddie.
Your a Legend 🐐🐐🐐
Two times for me, once on this tour in 1986.
90% of your reaction was jaw drop. The other 10% was stank face. That's 100% accurate when it comes to Eddie on the strings.
team stank face

It's always jaw drop
Shaq: why is he making those faces
Also Shaq: making the same exact face

Idk why but it brings me so much joy to watch ppl discover this Art. My guy said “this is murder”😂😂
I only got to see VH live once, and even though I was just a 13 year old girl who knew very little about music, I remember just standing there in awe of Eddie. It literally took my breath away. He's a legend. Period.
"Never put this guy on guitar hero"
Guess he didn't know there's a whole GH game based on Van Halen 😂
Facts
But notice they needed to make a separate game.
I think he meant if eddie played GH he would blow it up.
Anyone coming back here after the sad news? :(
I am man... Bruh fuck 2020, like fr. We been losin' the best of us for a while now. I'm sad to say this, but this makes Eddie just the next hella famous person to die tragically. It's a damn shame that this has become a trend lately (Kobe, Stan Lee, Karl Steffanson, etc.), but that's the way things are shaping up for us it looks like.
Captain Midget yeah 2020 sucks ass
Awful
Yeah 😢
I’ve... listened to this solo like 10+ times in the last 3 days... I passed up a chance to see Van Halen for free in 2004, because I was on a drumline and had a half-time field show to perform that night. I played 5th bass. If I was playing snare that season... I may have ditched. But playing on the Bass Line, 5th bass drum-if your are missing any bassdrum it’s like you are missing a finger while playing guitar... So... I didn’t take the last minute invite from my BF to see Van Halen in late 2004. Also...-I DID not want to get chewed out by my percussion instructor, a former member of the Blue Devils Drum Corp., whom I respected Ed immensely, and always will... But especially with this weeks tragic news regarding Eddie... and me reflecting on how I was ultimately, unexpectedly (renditioned by “escorts,” in the middle of the night [and not the type that sex you... :-/] ) and then sent to an “Elan”-type school owned by WAASP in La Verkin, Utah-just weeks after having turned down that last minute invitation to a Van Halen concert in 2004, having no idea I would be in an overpriced, fraudulent, “behavioral modification center” for teens just weeks after-literally taken in the middle of the night, early on a Wednesday morning-with 20/20 hindsight I wish I had made myself regurgitate lunch, feigned a stomach bug, and had my friend pick me up... sigh... (c” ತ,_ತ)
Edit: Likely considered to be “depressing details” added.
RIP Eddie.
“Why is he raping the guitar?”
Best comment!
The witchcraft one was pretty good too.

"That guitar was innocent as shit 3 minutes ago!"
And now it's smoking a cigarette.
"I'm sorry to keep pausing, but I'm in disbelief.." -- He had that effect on us all. Truly the GOAT.
Eddie was undefeated! u will never see another like him. He wasn't just a proficient guitarist, the guitar was an extension of himself. It wasn't about notes and scales, he knew every square inch of a guitar and knew how to make it speak. That is something you can never teach.
It wasn't just about techniques and tricks, it was also innovation. He built his first guitar from Fender and Gibson parts. The Frankenstrat is immortal.
"that guitar was innocent and shi* ... 3 minutes ago." Nope. That guitar has seen some shi*. That guitar has been places. That guitar lost it's innocence a looooong time ago.

It's guitar wizardry I tell you! No human should be this talented!
Actually tho, this brand of rock is magic
Remember the song "The Devil went Down to Georgia"? Its really about Eddie and his guitar and not some dude named Johnny and a fiddle. Names and events were changed due to copy right laws.
Tenacious D covered it. He used the Pick of Destiny.
Alan Gibson it make sense 😬😬 scary
man back then guitar solos were longer then most concerts today....
You have just been privileged to listen to one of the legends of our times. RIP EVH, you were the best.
"How is this even possible?" that's the same thing everybody who played guitar said in 1978 when eruption came out.
True that Craig. Most of us gathering around the stereo to listen to it together bac in the day thought there must be some kind of synth in there somewhere. Nope.
Rip Eddie Van Halen without this man we wouldn’t have greats like Mustaine, Marty Friedman and others (too many to name). A truly genius guitarist.
George lynch
psnpanuch basically every shredder wouldnt exist without Eddie
A generation of guitar heroes all inspired by the Edward Van Halen. Without him we wouldn't have any of them. He changed the way we play guitar and in fifty years he'll be spoken about with the same sense of reverence and awe as Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

And so you know, Eddie could not read music. He watched others to learn. So yeah, he’s a god of sorts. Self taught artist who blew the guitar world away; but classically trained on piano. Dude has it all.
With all due respect, he "played" with the piano the same way he played with the guitar. Somehow, the lines "classically trained" and NOT knowing how to "read music", don't go together.
Also ...Eddie played Drums and Alex play guitar when they were young, how about that. Then fast forward EVH goat of guitar,, and AVH is one of the goats in drums
He knew how to read music ( maybe not for guitar) He and Alex were classically trained pianists.
@@jm-rf7kl. All music is written on a five line staff.
@@jm-rf7kl Not being able to read music for guitar is practically impossible, instead of normal sheet music, which for the untrained eye looks really hard, you use a tab, which looks like normal sheet music at first, but it has six lines, which represent the 6 strings. On these lines there’s numbers which represent on which fret your supposed to put your finger, it’s incredibly easy to read if you understand it. Using normal sheet music is impractical because one note can be played on almost every string, so on harder songs it’s practically impossible to know where to press.

The innocence in your voice when you said what about stevie. 🤣🤣🤣 stevie is still the best blues rock player ever. What this guy does is literally a different kind of playing.
I just thought to myself that damn he really does remember his old reactions and doesnt just do reactions for the money like many others. Instead he really enjoys new music and remembers.
To me , Stevies style is way more impressive than this
One of EVH's biggest inspirations was Eric Clapton's fast blues soloing on Cream's cover of "Crossroads." The blues is still in there, you just have to squint a little to see it. ;)

No Life Shaq: " Van Halen, your time has come. We're gonna see if you can make that thing talk!"

Michelle Carroll Shaq's the coolest by-far in my book!!
Shaq- Unchained is one of my favorites.
The part where the lights turn blue, and everything gets all echoey, he is playing the whole part without strumming on the guitar, but by turning the volume knob and hammering on chords with the hand on the neck. That is very hard to do, and is called manual tremolo.
Shaq you are killing it!! Keep it up man!!!
Most innovative guitarist since Hendrix. Started a whole generation.
EyeSoul Correct, correct, CORRECT!!!
It’s unbelievable to hear other bands at the same time it seems like decades ahead of 70s-80s music. Though Eddie isn’t up there on my top 3, he gets my respect.
Tyler bro he has to be the #2 behind Hendrix
@@alexrepak1581 agreed
Raging Repak It depends.. if we are talking innovative,, yeah Hendrix, Eddie. If we’re talking my favorites... the list is different. I’d have Alex Lifeson up near the top. It’s so hard to rate guitarist because some may not be technical, but have amazing feeling , some are a good blend of technical and feeling. Some are just unique (Brian May) so, I find it hard to pick favorites. I just love guitar.
>"Is he doing all this by himself?"
Did you miss the part where he was called 'the greatest guitarist ever'? That's not just a boast. The dude just played a medley of EVERY guitar solo from every hit record of the previous 5 years, then re-tuned it on stage, on the fly, in front of everybody, and switched up the playing to make it sound completely different. And he did it all while wired up on half a dozen drugs, so badly he doesn't even remember how he did half of this stuff. This isn't something he practiced, this is just him playing around.
Mitch Haelann well said
G Wagner matter of opinion. he invented the genre, not the genre of rock, but the whole concept of the shredder guitar hero. of course there were great guitarists before king edward. but everyone has got to realize that his inovations in playing AND his inventions on the instrument realy shook guitar playing all across the board right to the fucking core of it. really, nearly every modern guitarist of most every genre are using evh's inovations in one way or another.
Mitch Haelann so this is to go beyond human limits.

I still can't believe he's gone. I got to see him twice and I'll never forget it.
Most guitarists have a blues influnce. U just saw what a guitarist plays when influenced by classical music
I mean it was more blues than anything, it was just really fast. Some of it was classical probably because of Eddie being classically trained on piano when he was young
Those licks came from Johann sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor
Mix of both. Pentatonics and harmonic minors. Makes for an outstanding sound.
A lot of people don’t understand the value of a classically trainee musician. This is proof that classical music is a-freaking-mazing and absolutely still has value.
