Years later, more victims are coming forward, yet the identity of this camp still remains unknown. Please, let this Redditor know if you have any helpful information or know of any other victims.

If you honestly believe that its really an easy choice to send your child there, even if you know the place is fucked up, its way better than spending eternity in hell. This is why we should get rid of religion... It is extremely harmfull to society to have people walking around believing in fairy tales, they aren't living in reality. People aren't being taught to think critically, their morals are completely backwards and worst of all children are being indoctrinated and abused! (not saying that this happens in every religious family but these believes do enable people to do fucked up shit, i'm all for freedom of religion but religion has to stay out of our schools/government, churches need to pay taxes and we shouldnt give religious folk a free pass to do some fucked up shit because it is part of their religion...)

Well to be fair The experience can be very painful of try to be with another man I won't go into too much detail because I assumed you catch my drift but trust me I've been there and depending on the type of person you are it can be painful.

- tell them as little about you as possible
- as far as they know you live in a happy family and had a perfect childhood don’t tell them otherwise
- try and remember you’ve done nothing wrong what they are doing is wrong

my mom tried to send me there when I came out as ftm. It also serves as conversion therapy, though this is secondary. They take in wlw and ftm teens and (as of ~2018) spoke to my mother about how they could "help lgbt-identified teens with the word of god"

This really put my views into perspective, yeah I'm harassed for being gay. Luckily my family is accepting, I know so many other people that aren't so lucky.
Edit: I’m not the stereotypical flamboyant type. I see this had to be stated as people are using stereotypes to justify their bigotry. And keep in mind I’m open about myself, but I don’t go and actively tell people. I let them come to me and ask questions.

I'm a recovered heroin addict. The first rehab I went to at 17 was a faith based program for addicts and gay people. Yeah, it's pretty common. Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, and many other states have this issue of covering up horrendous and heinus acts against minors all for the sake of the church they're covering for. There's even a story about a 7 year old girl getting married to a 37 year old pastor in Florida just because their parents and the church consented and allowed it.
If you search on UA-cam, there's also stories on boys getting sent to these "rehabilitation camps" in Georgia and Alabama and how much physical/mental/emotional abuse they went through. Problem is, whenever a bombshell like this drops, major news stations refuse to cover the stories because they expose the churches behind the abuse.
