    I'm disappointed that bandlab has not released sonar as a perpetual license. I'm not going to throw in the towel with sonar just yet. I will wait and see if bandlab release sonar as a perpetual license. if it turns out that bandlab have no plans for sonar as a perpetual license, I will continue to use cakewalk by bandlab for as long as it will work. I also own sonar platinum if i need a backup daw for my currant projects. so if it comes to the crunch and there is no perpetual license for sonar, i will be forced to move onto Cubase

    • @XELOhh1
      @XELOhh1  7 днів тому +1

      Yea I feel ya... Why Cubase 🤔... It's definitely a good DAW but a little pricey.. you might as well pay the yearly subscription for Sonar it will be cheaper in the long run and you seem to be more familiar with Cakewalk but that's just my 2 cents ... Have you tried any other DAWs like Studio One.. Reaper... Mixcratf.. Tracktion Waveform all solid DAWs a little more affordable than Cubase and you get perpetual license with all these... Just food for thought...😀🙏🏾

      @@XELOhh1 why cubase? well i was a solid user of cubase when it was on the atari st in the late 80s. i moved onto cubase 3 for windows. today cubase is a great daw. i have no problem with the price and the license is perpetual. plus there is full integration with komplete kontrol keyboards

      U@@XELOhh1 shout-out for Waveform. I've been with them since Tracktion 4. Only started paying for Pro versions since they rebranded as Waveform. There's frequent updates, and the developers hang out in the I've audio forum for frequent use questions. There's constant sales. There's always a discount update cost when there's a major update and they change version numbers.
      I didn't record much since COVID but getting back in the game I had WF 11 in 2020 and just upgraded to WF 13 pro this summer for $99.
      I previously tried Ableton, Reaper and some other daws, but they didn't click for me.
      There's the free version of Waveform too. No limitations as far as I know. They're a great company that listen to their users.
      I appreciate your channel!

      Moving to cubase is a painin the ass. I aslohabe cubase artist, cause from time to time some client comes with a cubase project. With every new version I try toswitch...but 10 minutes later I am back in sonar. Cubase is somehow inlogical. And I am doing this since the late 80ies amd, of course, there was a time when I used it. I sitched activly to Sonar in 2009. Till then it was relativly unknown here in germany.

    XEL, the amount of work you have put into CbB is more than I will ever learn or even need to learn. It's a brilliant volume of work.
    Do people REALLY think that a latest version of any modern DAW sequencer is holding them back on their road to fame and fortune?

    IMO what has hurt CB is the waiting. Because of this many cakewalk users have switched to other DAWS that look and have a modern feel. What is the incentive? Trying to improve on some outdated features does not work for others that have switched. This does not do Sonar Platinum users justice. Adding things like concrete limiter is not new. We already have it as well as the LP EQ and LP MB-On a side note there was a sampler in cakewalk from back in the days- :D ua-cam.com/video/W7kmXnwKoGU/v-deo.html

      Agreed it took them over a year just to say subscription only...🤔 Yea I know ... I have the sampler but never used it in my videos due to the people on my channel will never be able to get it.. just like people now will not get TTS1 it no longer comes with Sonar or Cakewalk... I never got the LP EQ or the MB but they have always looked like good tools... I don't understand why they just put a new coat of paint on SLAP and say here ya go new Sonar is ready with only 2 truly new feaures.. They could have said that over a year ago when they first talked about Next and Sonar they just strung people along for the ride it seems but we will see if they can dig themselves out of this whole they have created... I have subscribed, but, honestly, I see no benefits right now to the free cakewalk. sometimes I open projects in my cakewalk and there is nothing I would miss. Clearly for the User who is not into the deep midi stuff I see no need to go to the paid version...And as a pro musician who is always on the edge its good to know that I still can use cakewalb, when money is short and I rather get my fridge stuffed than Sonar running ;-)

    So torn and conflicted with the decision. CbB is still very usuable but is beginning to feel a bit tired and dated - yet - Sonar does not look that modern either. Tough choice if you are not now a professional and cannot justify the spend. I would have gone down the constant development route but started years ago to sell plugins and Prochannel plugins specifically for CbB = and made decent money that way. You have a choice just like Luna. Sonar's plugins apart from XSampler, I have - every one. I don't see anything COMPELLING as yet.
