Paul is a local boy made good. Started hearing about this kid who lived down the road who was amazing. By the time I started getting more pieces of the puzzle as to who this "Kid" was, off he was, for California. He turned out to be one of my biggest guitar influences.
Paul came into Five Star Guitars where I work and we had a great conversation and he played and sang Doobie Brothers for me. It was pretty surreal to say the least but what an incredibly kind and warm person he is to be around. I love the hell outta that guy!
I'll never forget getting to have lunch with him in person and he was literally making guitar sounds and talking about cool records in between bites. What a guy.

I have been a fan of Paul since his and my hair metal days in the late 80s. It is amazing to see him now analyzing his sound in detail. What a time we live in.

Also: Mayo goes on the bread because it has a flat topography and rough texture (essentially "bubbles" in the bake) that accommodates an even and controllable distribution with a knife. Putting it on an uneven and impermeable surface produces inconsistent results. Mind, if you're applying mayo from a squeeze bottle without the assistance of a knife afterward, the results are probably "good enough" AND you don't have an extra utensil to clean later!
Been watching Paul since his earliest days, lagging just a few years behind him in age, and I am impressed endlessly by his musicianship and technique, but most by his pleasant disposition and sense of humor. The planet needs more Paul Gilbert's everywhere!

I used to be an electrician. I stole my first pedal board out of the freezer of a popeyes I was working in as an apprentice. It was just a wire rack that I ziptied and stapled a few pieces of wood to so it would sit at an angle.
