Is there any way to automatically remove gaps between clips? In our radio production when we record speech we would like to have clips next to each other after the silence is removed. Logic has a function called "Shuffle Left", what about Cakewalk?

Hey X, I was wondering when you are going to review the new sampler that's been added to Sonar, XSampler? I know you and I have been begging for one for quite a while now. It's pretty basic, but it's something they can build upon in the future.

I was one of the very first to get Cakewalk 6.0 I wound up having to use SONAR, which I don't like, because it's a battle to get anything done, I get the impression they were more concerned with looks, than anything else.

New viewer, new to the DAW/production scene. I picked up Bitwig Studio and it is super powerful but not intuitive to me. I don't want a subscription. What would you recommend for a complement to Bitwig?

XEL I know you said that Cakewalk has been working on this for a year - well at least the BETA version with pricing and such not being revealed. Now then, I KNOW you know that it's been going on three and maybe four years since the announcement was made. Frankly, I'm tired of waiting for it. BUT I AM going to stick with the updates to the Cakewalk version they keep rolling out. Then after that, I'm not upgrading to Sonar much less Next. I'll stick with the free version since I have no intentions of updating my computer which is only about 3 years old now but I upgraded the memory and other features. Everything works now, is stable and there's nothing wrong with it. I have all the VST libraries I ever need or want and everything is running fine. There is nothing I'll need (at my age) so updating, upgrading especially to subscription services just isn't worth it to me. I DO sub to MUSIO but that's Cinesamples and I love that company and all that they offer. And I was among the very first to sub to it so the price is still reasonable. I chose NOT to go the lifetime because I'm 77 and who knows how much longer I'm going to be around to do this stuff. But it's great orchestral stuff and I like them. I have too much OTHER stuff that needs cleaning out. So as long as Cakewalk free works, I'm good for the rest of my time in the game.

let me throq my tqo cents here if i may : CKEWALK is a cursed daw ...why cursed : well first it got wrecked by gibson and now it got wercked by BL .... honestly sying i stoped using even the ancient old Cakewalk BBL i i am not gonna buy it even if they finaly make it available with a good efortable prise. Honestly there are a whole lot of better Options and 3 of them my absolute favorite: 1- Ableton Live 2- Bitwig 3- Cubase yes those have a prisetag on them but you know what ? what is music all about and why dooes anyone make music ? hobby ? well you have at least with Bitwig a good enough prise so that you can keep the hobby on going ...or you go grab Presonus ST 1 artist ...good rnough for making music as a pure hobby . and if in whatever way the music gathers some around you interested on your music, you can go over to Belton Suite or Cubase Ultimate : if you sell a single some 100 times or 1000 or maybe more times, you see that you actualy can make a living out of it and noone who erans some 5000 or more per month , will care about some 200 USD or EU right? there is no reason for me to stay with Cakewalk allthough its still free and less a reason for me to actualy pay em any sort of money for doing the same shit as did gibson back in the day. Right now i own ST1.6 Artist and you know what ? i can do all i can with the free cakewalk and more for those 89 euros i spent on it and if at any given time i come to a point where i can effort Ableton or Cubase or Bitwig i am not gonna give any money to a daw that is and will be available only via sub. im done with cakewalk for good and the last time i used it is more then a year ago....

Cakewalks downfall was not going Mac/Windows. Best DAW on the market possibly forerunner definitely first to go 64bit. First to drag and drop.

Which DAW do you think would be the easiest to transition to from Cakewalk?

I paid for the subscription for a month to check it out. Sonar is Cbb with added features. It worked just fine. But I totally agree with you about this year's long wait. A year ago, Cakewalk said Sonar was coming soon. Soon? I've been saying that this wait is like being spaghetti-fied into a black hole, just getting strung along. I don't know if they miscalculated how long it would take or they ran into unforeseen issues or what. But as far as the pricing, you gotta feel like they know what it will be. If it's a one time license, I'd say $199-$399, with maybe a studio and producer options like the old Cakewalk used to have. But I'm with you, I'm not paying for a subscription. I did it just for a month because I was curious. If it is a subscription, I'll use Cbb until they take it away and then decide where to go next. Thanks for keeping us up to date and being a voice for all of us in the community.

I just installed cakewalk by bandlab 2 days ago, and I really like it. As long as I can continue to use CBB after sonar releases, I'm fine with it. I don't really care about these new ai features. Coming from FL mobile, CBB is kinda of an upgrade. Its kinda funny how FL mobile has a sampler and CBB DOESN'T😅 I'm still getting used to CBB, and I'm enjoying it.

Tracktion Waveform is my bread and butter. It is capable of everything I need and is full featured. Would be dope if you did some content on it.

Why so sad? Xel, you know that Cakewalk has a very loyal following and even as it is, it's freaking amazing! I would seriously not care at all if they never release any update. Mate, I don't give a crap! The understanding that you have for Cakewalk and the tutorials that you put out are enough to keep us - WHO KNOW how valuable you lessons are - very satisfied. The latest cakewalk is still asking you to upgrade. If I upgrade it will I have to pay for the next version. I'm confused because everyone keeps saying this is the last upgrade and then they offer another one and I'm not sure whether I should do it in case I lose my work.

I didn't find the Cakewalk configuration as useful as I had hoped. 😞 I miss the Smart tool/ I guess that I rely on the mouse too much and not really a Key Command guy.

I'm glad I went a different direction and didn't wait on this. Although, I'm still interested to see what happens with Cakewalk. I won't be shocked if they just stick to this membership business.

I think FL studio producer edition is best DAW in terms of what you get and pay , Reaper is as well, but i give it to FL for the things it comes with out of box (features and plugins ), the amount of tutorials and the fact that you get LIFETIME upgrades

Good idea to explore other DAW. Personally i'm trying to synchronize to DAWs (audio and MIDI) on 2 different PCs witn Bandlab cakewalk as master on the PC1. So i'm looking for the best "slave" on PC2. One main problem is making slave follow tempo set in master . Untill now best results are with FL studio, n-Track Studio Suite and Ableton Live. So tutorials about these DAWs are welcome. Thx for your work.
