This dude is looking into my soul
Yous people suck...
Uncle FESTER The car doctor you must blink your eyes, Is very good video😊
Every time haha
Thanks Car Doctor! Save me a $250 diagnostic fee at my local Ford dealership and, who knows, whatever they would tack on to replace a $40 part.
Had a the fuel inlet msg for weeks, then last week came the Check Engine light - AutoZone told me I had a code P0457 on my 2012 Ford Escape. Bought the part number mentioned in the video and installed it myself. FYI - the light and msg didn't go away at first after installation and turning her on but after driving for 30min, then shutdown for 2hrs, and start up again - both fuel inlet msg and Check Engine light were gone. Thanks again.
We must protect this man at all costs
You save me tons of money. Had code P0455 and P0457. Purge valve was stuck closed. Took it off and used WD40 with the Straw, and sprayed in the enter and exit holes, washing out all the dirt. I re-installed it and ran an OBD2 code check. The code was still there. After driving city and hyway to complete a drive cycle, I ran an OBD@ code check and the permanent codes were gone. Point is that the purge valve can be cleaned by flushing it out. It was the moist dirt that caused it to be stuck . Hope this information will help others .Your video did gave me the idea.
I really appreciate the simple diagnostic procedures to test the purge valve, as well as checking and cleaning that cheesy cap less fuel inlet. Thank You!
wow! amazing video, dude! Thank you SO much for taking the time to make this video for the masses! Much much much appreciated!
I have to say thank you for taking the time. This was very informative and helpful. Thank you from the little people out here!
No problem. Glad it helped.
Thank you for the help. This was very clear and easy to understand. I just picked up a Blue driver Scan tool and this code came up. I did have debris in my capless gas filer and it cleared up from the system. I feel like a pro now. 👍👍👍
Thank you for the video was driving on a four-hour trip and the icon came up so I was able to listen to your video and avoid stopping at a Ford dealership
Awesome
Excellent video Sir. This allowed me to fix my neighbors vehicle, after running the vacuum tests you showed. Thank you very much.
Thank you for your video on 7:15 2017 I experienced the check engine light on my 2010 Ford Escape XLT after researching and coming up with code P0455 I found your video which at which time I went out to my local auto parts store and purchase the purge valve after installing and not forgetting to disconnect the battery to clear all previous codes I was happy to see my problem was solved many thanks you saved me at least a hundred fifty bucks.
Great tips. Honest mechanic. I do my own work and what you provide here is spot on. Thanks
Thank you for your video! I'm not in the least bit a mechanic, but I was able to follow your instruction and fix the problem!
Hi Tim, Great tip I haven't had any of these to my shop yet but I will keep it in mind. You must be get ready for the winter by now.Keep up the good work .Jim
+jimthecarguy I get the feeling we will see a few of these in the years ahead. Don't have my snow tires on yet but ready on rims for when it happens. I little frosty this morning but nothing to get worried about. Thanks for stopping by Jim!
Great Video - Thanks!! I changed out the solenoid in 15 minutes with your video as my guide. The light is out, the "Check Fuel Fill Inlet" message is gone - here's hoping they stay that way.
Thank you, Car Doc.... and the one who mentioned went to Auto Zone.. Just bought 2011 Ford Escape . P0455.Have warranty Thank you,God😅 Great Video
Thank you for mentioning Auto Zone. Went there, and they were more than happy to check my 2011 Ford Escape out came up PO455. Thank you again. God Bless you and yours
This video was exactly the issue on my 2010 Ford fusion. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for your excellent video. I just had "check fuel fill inlet " message yesterday. I simply bought a new valve to replace the old one, even without the diagnosis. Then after only 1 full drive circle, the annoying message has gone. Your video is really helpful. Give you 10000 thumbs up!
What did you change
Great information.. Greatly appreciated. I also found that in the filler neck there are two plastic release buttons (1 on each side) that your fuel filler nozzle hits to release the filler flap. Mine was stuck so I sprayed a little WD on them and freed them up. Now the flap fits snug and the light went out.. Hope this helps...
That video and advice was spot on. You are a credit to your profession.
+Mark Karvinen Thank you! Glad it helped.
I'm glad you have this video, my sister has an escape and has code p0455 now I know where to start thank you:)
Another very helpful video! Thank you and take care
Perfect video. Explained so well and so much.
This was a very informative video. Thanks.
Excellent info, thank you very much! I was t-boned in an accident 8th May and had this fuel fill inlet message shortly thereafter. I was also gone for a period of time and didn't drive the car until the 24th. I have to wonder if it's out of the realm of possibility that something got jarred in the impact. The visible damage didn't make it as far back as the gas door and the door seals well. After the first error code on 5/26, I cleaned the area, used the included fill funnel to insert it in and out of the fuel fill area multiple times. The code cleared the next day. Today, I had the error again. Ugh! I'm definitely NOT a fan of the capless system. Clearly Ford knew it was going to be problematic or they wouldn't have included that fill funnel. Next stop Auto Zone tomorrow to see about codes. I did call my Ford dealer's service dept. It was suggested that I clean the fuel fill area very well (there was no debris that I could see) and disconnect the positive cable on the battery to clear all the codes. I'll see what Auto Zone says first.
Great tips thanks for taking the time to do the video. Oh and thanks to Steve for sending me over. -John
+The Plow Guys Thank you for stopping by the shop!
Thanks for this video. 2012 Fusion, 3.0L V6, same fuel fill message, 455 & 457 codes on the scan tool. Based on this video went straight to the purge valve and sure enough it was leaking. Quick trip to car quest and 20 min later the job was done.
Sweeet!
such a simple fix even for the not so mechanically inclined, i have the same issue, this engine is so reliable only issue in 6 years 2011 fusion so i cant complain Great Video pal
I very much appreciate this video doc!
Thanks for help, doc!;) Great content!
Thank you so much for this video! I cleaned the fuel inlet and replaced the rubber seal on the fuel door. These codes kept persisting and no mechanic ever offered a resolution. I replaced this part so easily during a trip in July and the "Check fuel fill inlet" message and associated codes never returned. The car runs a lot peppier than before. Again, thank you for such a helpful video!
I would like you to inform me as 'How to replace the rubber seal on door" as mine is now a week seal and water is entering as drive thru washing.. thanks
Dude, thank you soo much! You saved me a bunch of money. I bought the valve for $23 and fixed the problem. Thanks!!!
So glad it helped you save some money. Blessings
Part number
good stuff as always
Thank you brother this helped out alot and I fixed the fuel fill inket problem
I'd like to say Thank You as well, your video was very informative to someone like me that doesn't know anything about car repair. I drive a 2004 Ford Expedition and I'm having error code P0455 show up. Thank you again for the help.
Dwayne I have a 2004 expedition as well, did you fix it yourself or did you take it to the dealer and if so how much did it set you back?? Also I have a brand new fuel cap and Ford reset the check engine light and then a few miles down the road it came back.
Thanks for the video! It really helps. 👍
Thank you for taking the time to make that!
No problem. Take care.
I changed the canister purge valve and the message went away. Thanks, had this message for almost 2 years and couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Thanks again!!
Glad this helped! Take care
Thanks so much........you are the MAN!
Had to say thank you and a thumbs up! you helped me help someone! thank you!
excellent video great job
Great video !
give us more videos.
thank you.
Thanks, good tech article
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Thank you sir for this helpful video i have this problem with my 2011 escape 3.0 L , I will fix it i have this issue for about 3 minutes ago , after I checked it or changed the part I will put anther comment on your video. Thanks again
Thanks for posting your videos and helping out , I do have a question I have a 2003 escape with a p0443 and the evap purge valve connector has not electrical power at all. The evap 5A fuse has electric power however there's not continuity to the connector... My question is, should be a break in the wire somewhere or should be the PCM that is bad?
My little 2011 ford escape suv just started signalling the 'check fuel fill inlet' about a month ago and then the service engine light came on soon thereafter. I went to my 'go to' car shop and they did a diagnostic (evac issue) and identified that the gasket was pinched on the door. I was sent away with the code reset and instructed to clean the fill inlet with a wet cloth. After traveling on a gravel road for about 150km the light continues to come on when I start the vehicle. I suspect small particles of dust have also aggravated the situation. I will inform my 'go to' car shop about your recommendations. This was a very informative video for the none mechanical person that I am. Thank you
Sure, hope they figure it out. Take care
You really are the car doctor
Hi Doc.
Would you know where the canister purge valve would be on a 2006 Ford Escape 3.0? My wife's escape has the same two codes you mentioned in the video. But the canister valve is not in the same location as what you showed in the video.
Great video. My 2012 ford mustang 3.7L's cap will not open. The little rubber next to the vacuum fuel cap area that is shaped like tiny pointed "thing" on the right side when opened seems to be damages within the fuel cap area. Is there an easy fix to replace the immediate inside of the fuel cap area of the top area instead of replacing the entire fuel filler neck area that will require taking the tire off, etc. Thanks. Dr. Helen
Good job man 🤙
Thank you!
Hi I had a tune-up done on my car a week ago and the check engine light in the code and everything that you were saying start popping up on my car I had the purge valve replaced but the check engine light still come on what is the next step do I need to do for my vehicle
Thanks for posting this. I blew out the fuel inlet using a funnel and air compressor and then replaced the canister purge valve as instructed. How long does it take for the check engine light to go off if that was indeed the issue? I've seen some message boards that say as high as 80 keystrokes... If its high, can I get the codes cleared using a code reader? Trying to figure out if I'm going to need to take it in or if I should just wait it out a few days/weeks and see if it clears itself out.
Great video thanks I keep getting code P0455 EVAP system leak 2001 Ford Escort I changed the gas cap that didn't fix it. So tomorrow I plan on lifting the car up and inspecting all the fuel evap hoses and that canister and the purge valve... and I'll get back to you find the leak...wade
How did it turn out?
i have a 2012 Ford F-150 has the same problem. do you think replacing the canaster value ?
Thanks, Doc!
+SteinOnkel Thank you for watching. Hope this helped.
Car Doctor, hello. I have a 2006 Ford Escape Limited 3.0 FWD. The PCM alert says to CHECK THE SYSTEM EMISSIONS. I replaced a loose gas cap. Where else can I start to fix it?
Please help!
Have these codes with the fuel Inlet warning. Changed the purge valve . Now my escape stalls when slowing down to a stop.
So..I recently replaced the throttle body on my 2010 ford escape with the 4 cylinder engine. Now I'm getting the p0455 code. Could I have damaged the part you're talking about while changing the throttle body? While moving the tube that connects TB to air filter box?
Thanks You sir,
Thanks
I have a f150 2009 same message came up on my dash you think it could be that valve as well ?
What if it works intermittently? When I started the car (2008 mercury mariner hybrid) it would not suck even after warming up. The car was higher than normal on idle and the p0455 code came in. I have checked voltage on the connector and I was getting 14v. When it went down to 13v I plugged it back to the valve and it started sucking. The engine light went away. Is the valve the issue or should I look elsewhere?
I have a Ford edge 2014 sport utility limited AWD 3.5L V6. Bought it used from the dealer at 52000 miles.Drove it 2000 mile
and the engine light came on. Stopped at Auto-zone and they came up with code 456. Would your fix work for that code also? Should I spend the money buying a filler cap?
Car doctor I have Ford escape 2003 ,and I replace the cap of fuel ,and still show replace the cap ,and my dash don't work the fuel
Good video but I found it amusing that you never blink your eyes lol. Amazing!
Hello, your video was helpful. when I go in for a test for my car. What is a good estimate price for this job.
Hi Dr.
I have the same case for a F150 lariat 2010. What is the name of the part and part number that I would have to change? Thank you
Thanks mate
Thanks bro
Hi Tim, We have a code P0456 on ford focus 2013 but can't find the to solve the problem.
hey, i had my check engine light turn on yesterday and the check fuel fill inlet just turned on this morning. could this be causing both of those issues? the check engine one kinda freaked me out
My 2010 Ford Escape has check engine light on had check code read PO453.How do you fix?
Good luck 👍
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion V6 SEL 3.0L. I have codes P0455 and P0457. I checked the capless fuel filler but didn't see anything in there but used the funnel a few dozen times to verify the door was closing fully. I also tried removing the canister purge valve and blowing into it since I don't have a vacuum tester but didn't detect any leak. Is that a valid test? Is there anything else that is common for my cars model that I should investigate? TIA!
I replaced the purge valve and cleaned the fuel fill inlet but still get the p0457 code. I was getting the p0456 off and on and changed the vent valve. What else could it be?
thanks bro......A+++++
No problem!
I unplugged a sensor for my truck and then check engine light comes should I can erase?
Nice tips. 👍
+Steve Rob Top Notch Premium Tips?
Haha Brother Tim I'm over here laughing at my own vids. I bet you do the same :)
I laugh at your all the time brother! Had a great hunt by the way...Lots of bambi action.
Are we going to see the action in a vid?
very possible
Thanks dude! That just saved me $135 just to look at the issue! (Ford)
right on!
I know one thing , I'll never challenge you to a "stare down contest" !!!! ..... Thanks for the tips , fuel inlet light is on , pain in the ass techy crap on cars drives me nuts ..... hate it
Hi I have 14 Ford escape 1.6 eco boat.i have no engine check light or any code but have a problem that every time I fill up gas .it wont start it takes longer self and couple of tries. After starting the problem goes away.and come again when ever I fill gas .Please help me
I have a 2000 ford focus and im about to replace it . hopefully it works out
thank you.
Ford Escape 2011 4 banger.. my baby. I call it the glorified grocery hauler.
+christina tuttle They make a very good grocery getter! Thanks for watching.
What about a 2008 ford escape. The light stays on. This model is different then the one your showing here
my Ford Mustang is doing in this identical thing giving me the same error messages. how much should I pay a mechanic to fix this problem
Maybe $300
wow this was very helpful.. Do you know if there's a recall for this exact issue?
Hell no there's no recall for a faulty purge valve.
Great information but, what about that Tru Coat?
Hi again.I have a problem with a 2005 Mazda tribute now ! Its the 3.0 4wd model.I am getting a po456 code but no check gas cap code.Just the check engine light is on.I was told that its the canister purge valve ? I have no idea how to find that on the car.Got any ideas ? The gas cap was replaced a couple years ago.Maybe its that funky tree looking sensor by the firewall ? on a bracket ?
+pontiachotshot that's where it's located. It's a common problem and you should just replace it. Let us know how it works out.
The Car Doctor
Would you happen to know the part number for it ? I am having a hard time finding it for a 2005 but i can find them easy for a 2008.I wonder if its the same identical part for 2005 and 2008 ?The local parts stores act like it doesn't exist for a 2005 lol
HI, i have a 2010 Ford Escape. i noticed that the flap in the fuel inlet does not stay in place. It prevents me from fueling up. I also have the message on my dash for codes P0455 and 457. Can that be causing the codes to pop up?
Yes, probably need to replace the fill pipe assembly if you cant clean/repair the flapper
Whenever. I fill up it over fills, would the purge valve cause this? Or would it most likely be the breather line?
it over fills? as in it gets too full of gas and fuel runs out all over? or its har to fill and it keeps burping out gas while attempting to fill?
The Car Doctor the gas pump does not kick off. It keeps pumping when car is full .
Wifes 2013 Ford Edge had the "Check Fuel Filler Inlet"
Watched this video.
Checked wife's inlet, looks clean, door seals like new.
One week later, battery dies out with NO warning after driving 3 blocks to the gas station.
Give it a jump, still getting "Check Fuel Filler Inlet"
Replace battery, no more "Check Fuel Filler Inlet"
"Check Fuel Filler Inlet" must have been the "Battery Low" warning.
Hi! I just had my purge valve as you showed in video but I got that message 'check fuel filler inlet' again few days after. I have a 2011 ford edge. Do you know what else could be causing this message?
Did you do all the tests and procedures in the video?
first I had went to AutoZone to do the scan tester which indicated some type of leak. gas tank doesn't have a fuel cap but we did do the whole funnel in and out to clean it with compressed air and that didn't work. my coworker who used to work for a mechanic shop thought it might be the purge valve wish that's how I found your video so we changed that out but no we did not do any of the tests.
My car is having this problem They have replaced parts - claiming leak, flushed cleaned. Any other ideas? I have had the car in the shop for five days (not consecutively) trying to fix the problem. Sure would appreciate some input. Thanks'
+Nancy Alain What parts did they replace? What codes did it have? Was it at the Ford dealership for repairs? Have you checked to see if it is under extended coverage for a filpipe assembly?
hello, good night, I'm watching your videos, can you show me where that pieaplos is?
And like why did you do that to the gas cap, well it's not the cap it's where you put the gas,
my 2009 ford escape has this code i am going to replace this part without testing... hoping it's the fix. is it a normal symptom to waste gas with this problem?! i used a whole tank in two days 100 miles. Urgh! I hope this will be the fix. what do you think? Thank you for the advice?
+Camron McClain Shouldn't cause excessive fuel use. Maybe you have a hole in your fuel tank?
My fuel fill inlet just lit up in my 2011 Ford Explorer. How soon should I take it into the Ford dealership?
Before the warranty expires.
I have a permanent code P0455 and P0457 on Ford 2010 fusion huh how much does all this cost with parts and work they tell me to keep driving the car doesn't drive the same smells like gas too. Feels frozen not fast no more too etc. I'm tired help.
Less than $100
Hi 👋 I’m getting fuel intent message on my 2013 mustang v6 - check engine light is on pulling p06b8 & po455 codes. Any advice?
I’m sorry but I have no idea what “fuel Intent” means.
@@ThecardoctorTV “check fuel fill inlet”
I have a 2013 F150 the light came on which of course generates the check engine light, I have the cap less system... I've check and rechecked it, what do I do?
Nate Booker If you ever fine out PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I'm having the same problem. My remote start doesn't work because of it. If I find out anything I'll let you know... Thanks Sir...
Hey my friend, so I followed the recommendation of cleaning the fuel fill inlet with compressed air and making sure there is no debris and that it closes properly but I still had the stupid message and it was driving me bananas... So I cleaned it again and after I did, I disconnected the battery terminal for about 5 minutes and reconnected it and that cleared the error code from the computer. I let my truck run for a while and did a vehicle diagnostic in the settings and sure enough, it was cleared. After that, my remote starter works again. I hope you have similar success.
I'm confident that this should be a recall. It'd be much easier to just replace the fuel cap if it had one. Thanks Ford... what we owners really needed was one more headache!
