"LAST WORD" LYRICS:
Farther from oblivion
Closer to the end
Will I become the setting sun
Will I fall when I wake up?
I remember every last word
I remember it all
I remember every last word
I remember...
When I am wired to oblivion
I’m closer to the end
We all become the setting sun
We have nowhere left to run
I remember every last word
I remember it all
I remember every last word
I remember...
Oh, my sweet oblivion
We are drowning in paradise
I guess we'll need a deeper gutter
A higher levee
To slow this tide
I remember every last word
I remember it all
I remember every last word
I remember
Do you have any last words?
I remember it all
Do you have any last words?
Because I remember, I remember it all

BARONESS - Last Word [Official Music Video]
this is a good day
I been waiting!!! Exciting day
Perfect.
This is the way.
Such crazy musicianship. Gina-Era Baroness is next level.
It sounds so different from the early red and blue albums that I just can't get into it. Mostly the vocals just don't do anything for me
Gina is a monster of metal, 100%
@@kennykenny8576honestly thought I was the only one
@@ap0oth3karynope. I was such huge fan of those eps and red. They lost me after that. I actually walked out of they’re set at psycho las vegas
@@kennykenny8576 I don't think it sounds that different, just a little more evolved.
I’m just happy you can hear the guitars again
Dude, I dismissed Baroness for like 7 years until I saw them live because of how bad the mix was on the recordings.
@@maxdangle1 I had to nope out of G&G because it literally HURT my ears to listen to it - I don't revisit Purple a lot for the same reason. But this - this is what those albums could have sounded like. This is like the mixing of Red Album and those two albums' songwriting.
@@paulsawchuk9934 Someone ripped the live show they did where they played the entire record and it sounds SO much better. I wish they’d do an official release of that.
@@zachiswayposi1 Ooh I'd love to give that a listen.
Credit to Nick with that heart of the sunrise level bass work.
he's an absolute beast to play in a band with. top notch musician
@@johnbaizley5568 Hell yea! Can't wait to see y'all in Tampa!
@@maxdangle1I just moved from Tampa to Salt Lake City. Let me know how it Max! See you in Salt Lake John!
the bass lines on this song are just mindblowing
Makes me wonder what Metallica would sound had Cliff survived.
Proof the telecaster can master every genre
Jesus, that guitar solo is the best solo I've heard in years. So glad to have y'all back!
It's average at best. Standard scale wankery
Anybody know if that’s John or Gina?
@@Foxywaterable I don't, but I would put my money on Gina.
I’d have to say that it is the most raw and forward mix guitar solo I have ever heard.
And I think that’s what makes it great!!!
Seriously. Angular, exciting, and some awesome uncomfortable moments as it develops that adds great tension. Just killer. Stoked that Gina got to lay down some shred. It adds such an awesome vignette-within-a-vignette aspect to the song. Man. Wow.
I'm grateful the mix has some breathing room this time around, it sounds great, as does the song. I'm excited for more, thanks Baroness.
Now, if we could just get the last two albums remixed and remastered, everything would be great....
It feels to me like they tried to capture the sound of their live recordings, the low mids pulled back and even Gina is more forward in the mix. It's beautiful
Yeah. Mix is just the way it's meant to be for our hungry ears!
I preferred the aggressive sound tbh
@@cavezombie83 they do sound awful. This one still sounds odd/loud, but we'll see....
That opener, those guitars
🔥🔥🔥
🔥🤘🔥
Reminded me of the First/Second and Grey Sigh eras!
All the colors and sounds of Baroness in one song. What a fucking wonderful song. You have set the bar very high and I am looking forward to hearing the full album. The guitar solo has really blown my mind, it goes from good to better 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
Thank you!
That was everything I had hoped it would be. Pounding, pulsing, relentless, soaring, screaming, bloody, brilliant, and beautiful. Thank you.
Thanks, Rich!
While cliche, my day was going to crap but this really gave me a badly needed lift. Gina's playing is an incredible addition to the band, as well as her voice. Looking forward to the shows!
She’s obviously a great guitarist but the songwriting hasn’t been the same since green and gold imo
Best teeth in heavy music.
If there doesn't end up being a "Making of Stone" series of mini-docs, I'll understand. But if there is, I'M HERE FOR IT.
I got "Red" album vibes from the beginning. Then the rest of the song is just the perfect moulding of everything that the band has done. Excited to hear the entirety of the album, which will no doubt be brilliant
As I said in another reply, the opening had me thinking of First/Second and Grey Sigh eras.
As I hear the song progress, I hear hints of Blue and the Gold half of G&G.
This can't sniff a fart from Red, sorry.
Maybe its just me, but for me the Red album is their best sounding album, great production.
Serious Randy Rhodes vibes in that guitar solo
Brilliant from the first to the last note. I feel there's a lot of confidence in every musician's performance here. I don't know how to put this into words. It all feels very "forward". I love it!
thank you, John!
Not crushed in mastering. Nice. Good song after a long hiatus. Thanks!
I'm a big fan of Baroness's rhytm section - Sebastian Thomson with Nick Jost both always do amazing work and make big platform for beautiful guitars of John Baizley and Gina Gleason. I'm waiting for the 15th of September!)
Eat your heart out, Nuno. I think Gina just took the “best guitar solo of 2023” title. Christ, that was intense.
One thing i love about Barness are your outros. This one and "if i wake you up" comes to mind.
we'd never stop those outros if we didn't have to
Who was the mastering magician on this? It's utterly brilliant how much separation and room each instrument has...
True skill doesn't need power, but when a talented team lean into it as an expression of their art, it's a sublime result.
I love how everyone in the band just gets to shine in this song in a very elegant way. This is such a cool mix of styles, can't wait to hear more!
Never been so excited for stone.
So cool to have Gina's vocals a little more up front. Their voices meld wonderfully. I kept re-listening to the guitar solo. Love the tone and phrasing.
Thank God it's all coming back.. For real rock and metal. It's been so long thank you thank you.
First Skalmold, then Baroness. Today is a good day.
For what it's worth, Baroness won this "battle."
As someone who originally became a fan of their sludgy origins, the thing about Baroness that always impressed me the most is that while most bands shift genres to sell out, it really felt like they were breaking out instead. Like they had incredible songwriting ideas that just couldn't be confined to one sub-genre of metal, or even necessarily metal at all. One of the extremely rare cases where I love every era, and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.
John said in an interview fairly recently something about wanting to turn over those stones that haven't been turned over yet. Some may work and some may not. I like the idea that they are really trying to branch out and try new things. Things that haven't been done yet or aren't done often.
That guitar tone and the runs in the solo makes me think of golden era Ozzy, like Jake E Lee on Bark at the Moon.
what a riff!
what a beautiful guitar solo!
and the double voices? amazing!
what a powerful bass!
what a fantastic rhythmic lead of the drums!
Long Live Baroness!
what a comment
So good, feels like such an interesting and natural progression from G+G, stoked to see what the rest of the record has in store.
Yes, I also felt a lot of G+G vibes on this song. Truly amazing
Que música é essa, cara!!!! Sensacional! Que solo de guitarra!
I literally let out a “holy shit” after that solo, I’m so in already got my preorder on the limited vinyl
A bit of Randy Rhoads there...really good to here.
I'm so glad Gina joined the band. She's an amazing guitarist AND her voice perfectly compliments John's. This song is fucking rad. Can't wait for the album!
Love this band.
The bass melts my heart
Gina’s solo gives me strong Randy Rhoads vibes. Fucking awesome song.
Thought the same!
Even the tone.
More like Brett Hinds actually...but I get it.
this is the perfect backdrop for more stories to be told. the video reminds me of how plants can perceive us (with sound/light) and gives me the feeling that the land around my house knows some secret STUFF I don't want to remember
Those subtle guitar leads through the chorus amidst the frantic and relentless bass and drums, atmospheric rhythm guitar, and gut-wrenching vocals - just perfection. Face-melting guitar solo, riff that gets deeper with each listen, heavenly outro - so much to chew on in this song and I can't get enough of it!
So many high fives for this piece of brilliant art.
Baroness and QOTSA putting out new music this year is certainly delightful!
Not to forget Haken's Fauna as well
Dang, Gina. That solo 🔥.
This absolutely sounds like it belongs in a Baroness set list. Well done, gang!
That Solo has Kings X guitar tones to it! Lost in Germany anyone!? Hell, i just aged myself but Ty Tabor would be proud!
That solo is killer! The song is great too.
This is the most innovative, haunting, groovy, captivating song i've heard lately. 5x on repeat. Wow.
What a wonderful song. Gina's solo is in line with Rhoades / E Lee, simply jaw dropping. The outro reminds me of classic edge playing from U2 which is awesome.
So ready to see Baroness live. I remember reading about them in a one page Washington DC newsletter in the early 2010s and decided to look for them at a music store. I bought The Blue Album and my life changed. Thank you Baroness for the great music and amazing live experiences.
Guitar solo of the year candidate fshoo
Another epic Album Cover from Dyer Baizley with all album colours in one what a legend
The solo sounds like Randy Rhoads, awesome!
Production quality sounds so good! I think they heard the gripes. Gina killed that solo!! See yall in Abq
the mix sounds great
Just listened to the new record front to back, and it absolutely kicks ass. Musicianship is top-notch as always.
The production already sounds like it's back to the pre-purple mixing \m/
Absolutely! I noticed this as well.
They pour so much into their art. I'm so glad I bought The Red Album all those years ago and started this journey with them.
My journey started with Yellow and Green. Love the entire catalog and kick myself eternally for not checking them out earlier when I was a late teen with Blue coming out around then.
But, I'm still glad to be a fan. I absolutely adore to death First/Second and Grey Sigh, along with Red. Onward from that is just as good and innovative!
Same, Red album at first sounded mastodon-esque to my young ears, but the further I delve into baroness they are so much more
I remember not just the words, but every last sound. Give me more please
I just got into baroness literally 4 days ago, was like OH DAMN this is beast, where have they been? and BAM new release lmao
Amazing track. This has everything a Baroness song should have. The chuggy riffs, beautiful melodies, great harmonies and killer drums. Probably why the artwork isn't one colour. Best production yet. Love the duel vocals between Gleason and Baizley. The solo is the cherry on top!
So glad to hear from The Almighty Baroness again ! Missed you so much ...
The Mighty Mighty Baronesstones
Don't remember the last time a guitar solo gave me goosebumps like that. Gina you fucking rock!
Guitar solo is pure Randy Rhoads. This is such an amazing song. Love the rest ofthe album, too! Glad to have Baroness back!
This is absolutely wonderful! Baroness is in my top 5 artists of all times for a reason. Not only that but this announcement could not have come at a better time for me, as I've had a string of unfortunate events envelop me. I'm genuinely so looking forward to the new album. Gold & Grey is one of my all time favourite albums full stop.
The solo is amazing omg
So damn good. Thanks Baroness. Such an amazing style, can't wait for the album. Great job.
phenomenal. september cant come fast enough.
Solo is perfect!. Great song, my second favourite after "Borderlines" Thanks for your art!
Heard this a while back on XM radio and made a mental note to check them out and I'm glad I finally did. My new fav band. Guitar playing is top notch. Bass player is incredible. Drums are killer. Vocals are perfect. Best band I've heard in a long time.
I like the current production sound for this album. Looking forward to it!
I get to see these guys tomorrow in Oklahoma City!!! Can’t….. wait!
The buildup from 3:18 into the distorted guitar harmony then into the vocal harmony/passagio/slow melody part back to the chorus...Gah damn Baroness, I'm gonna listen to that for breakfast cause it taste so gooood.
That solo rips!!
nice mix. gina is the goat . love it !
Holy F... I'm crying, speechless.
Yes! New kick ass music from Baroness!
Anyone else here get one of those special postcards from Baroness? Can't wait for this album!
Get the vinyl
Yup. Pre-ordered the vinyl.
The last note on that guitar solo was goose bump inducing.
Glad to have you back guys!
Baroness doesn't know how to make a bad song. Can't wait for the album!
This song goes hard af. Keep up the great work
that's prolly the best guitar solo of this century
Baroness is that band you can always trust to drop something amazing! Super excited for the new album!
Baroness was THE musical discovery of 2022 for me. Such great songwriting, so much power, such a distinctive and unique sound. I am so much looking forward to the new album!
That makes 2023 even a better year for music than it was before.
Sounds amazing
Beautiful, gritty and multi-layered... fantastic! Give us more!
Thank god the production actually sounds good
The vocals in the later half are so cool.
Just going to say they don't need a vocalists. The sound of the vocals makes this!
I try not to listen to singles released before an album - I am an old man who likes to listen to an album as a complete statement. But I made an exception for Baroness and I am glad I did. It's everything I want Baroness to be. Well done, guys (and gal)! Cannot wait to see you perform this live and hear the rest of the album!
I hope you can hear this song Steve - RIP
the reverb in the guitar solo is fucking awezome !!! nice work
As soon as the intro riff hit I knew it was going to be Banger and it delivered.
John and Gina’s voices harmonize perfectly. Baroness is back!!
This band always finds that perfect balance of new territory and familiar ground. Awesome song, looking forward to more!
God damn the HOB Chicago show is one of my favorite memories of this year. Watching the band explode into this song at the beginning of the set was just perfect.
The musicianship in this song is just unbelievable!! Really liked it from the first note to the last!
John? Gina? Sebastian? Nick? You really did something here ... I don't know what in particular, or how to discripe but ... this song goes even beyond mark and bone ... it itches a corner of my brian, actually i cant exactly locate the mix of emotions i get while hearing this song. i'm 37 and i love tool, mastodon and whatever has a name in this industry but in 11 month this song jumped into my personal top 3... and it stays there for 11 month... every day my head goes "do you have any last words? i remember it all *solo* (even thou its not the exact part xD)all day)
Postcard team checking in! This is everything I wanted and more. Great job guys. The guitars, Nick going nuts, everything is perfect.
Yes!! So stoked to get the postcard!!
Hey I got a postcard too.
This is the sound of a band in their absolute prime. Everything slays performance wise. Production is outstanding Drums are huge yet natural sounding. Bass playing is grooving and melodic. And that fuckin' solo!!!!!
Just discovered Baroness a few years ago. A special & unique band. Go N.Y. Jets.
video reminds me of Boisvert's work, incredible stuff as always
