I absolutely love the fact that Baroness never conforms to a typical song structure... normally you get verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus... baroness might give you a five minute intro, two lines, and a three minute outro
Same with intronaut, you’ll get a long intro, they’ll sing a few lines, they’ll play for a couple minutes with no lyrics at all, then you MIGHT get something resembles a chorus, and then another couple minutes of music with no lyrics 😂😂
I am really late to the party with this band. I just started listening to them two weeks ago. Now I cannot stop listening to them! I love their entire discography!
Same for me. I kinda passed them up when I first heard them a few years back but just recently got really into them and I can't get enough! Guess I just wasn't ready for it back then lol.
This audiophile bullshit needs to stop. This is experimental sludge metal. Don't like the mix, go listen to something else. It sounds this way intentionally. No need to shit all over someone elses art.
Except for the drums. The beats are killer but the recording is muddy. Really doesn't do Sebastian's fills much justice. Bass is nice and punchy though.@@GrymgaRPG
I have been a fan since the Blue Record and I have to say you guys, along with Mastodon and Opeth, have created the most beautiful, inspiring, and uplifting music I've ever had the pleasure of listening to over the last ten years since discovering progressive metal. Thank you for all the wonderful tunes!
Preach. These bands have been helping me overcome a lot of stuff, and I kinda think they added color to my life and music practice. I'm so thankful too !!
@Nicky Bruce tbh Red is the only on I like from front to back, but to each their own. The fact that Neurosis inspired all of these bands doesn't mean that they will have greater impact on every listener
One thing I really dig about Baroness.. Is they're so good at writing tasty hooks.. but they don't grind them into the dirt and rely solely on that one hook.. It's like.. here's a little tasty nugget.. Oh.. now we're going this way.. Ohh. there it was again.. bye.. now it's onto something else.. Definitely keeps you engaged and guessing where the song's going next.
Same. My favorite solos among their catalogue only go for a few measures; enough to feel it, but not so much it drags on, and always leaves you craving more. So good.
My local record store had a listening party for this masterpiece. They also had shirts and lithographs to give out for people who purchased the album. I got it on CD and cassette. Love every minute of it
More record stores should do that. My local record store did it for the first time recently and it was great. They played a new album twice really loud and sold coffee as well as beer. It was packed.
Every Baroness album is simply a weapon of mass joy, you won't feel more free and glad to be alive with any other record... or, if you know others please let me know 'em!!!
I’m not trying to be that guy but I have heard this song alive yesterday in baroness concert at Mexico City and it was simply amazing. They’re so passionate when playing live. That new record have some really good songs. Gold & Grey and Purple are simply top notch.
Definitely be that guy! I saw them for the first time back in March and it was the best show I've been to. I'm jealous you got to hear more songs from Gold & Grey. Looked like the crowd in Mexico city was awesome too.
I'm so excited that this record is finally out, been waiting since Purple dropped haha and im not disappointed in the least. Another Masterpiece from Baroness.
Play the whole epic album loud on your real sound systems and enjoy the awesome full production. Been waiting for months for everyone to get the full experience. Fucking REAL
I have so gotten into this song lately. Diehard fans, please forgive me. Hahaha I really got into " shock me " and " if i should wake up " but i didnt bother to dig deeper into the albums. I have since made an on the spot correction and did so. Hahahaha Again, diehard fans forgive me. Cause now i see how awesome these guys are.
I actually discovered this amazing band thanks to my reply on a post in everskies that said “giving you a song based on your avatar” last year and I got this one.. decided to actually listen to it a few months ago and still can’t believe how they’re so underrated
This is what makes a band great. Unique style and sound. Much like Korn or KSE, you know who it is when you hear them. Hard to achieve but rewarding to listen to. Also cool video on this one.
I lost my grandma 8 days ago, and this song is helping me going through all the pain that the situation brings. You speak to my soul, always. Thank you guys. See you in Milan next october.
The real hero here is who ever mixed this bad boy. This album is hands down the best album I've ever heard, everything is so clear. The fact that I can listen to it on my 3ds and lose none of the audio quality is amazing
I love everything this band has done. First started listening to them 2010 and the entire experience of watching you guys grow and evolve has been a sincere pleasure. It's things like this that make life worth while.
Can't wait for the pink and blue marble vinyl to be delivered! I'm sure the artwork will be as stunning as usual. And I'm loving this song. It's an exciting day for Baroness fans
like the way they just ignored the fans reactions towards album mixing & the fans still blown away.. true musician with artistically vision.. hail baroness
This intro is just so beautiful. Kind of wish it was it's own full song, then joining the next part in a separate track, á la Steel that sleeps the eye/Swollen and Halo.
One of the most beautiful examples about something so ugly, the way the lyrics describe the incident is really powerful, I've never heard a song where such thought and love was put into the structure of this song. Baroness, hope to play with y'all soon🤘
Saw you perform this at louder than life. Truly a dream come true. I could not of course afford to see you overseas. So proud of your growth but, so sad that it took me three years to see my favorite band
I can feel the hurt in his voice 😢. Makes my heart want to jump out of my chest. My sweet amphetamine, needles and tourniquets where my friends for a while. I am done with that shit! I hope for good! Peace, love and respect to all of you, like me...
This song is unbelievably good. Strong songwriting and techniques combined. I listened to it first. Listened to it the next day. And the next. And everytime I thought - let's see if it is as good tomorrow. It is ;D
This album gets a lot of flag for it's sound, but I love that they dare to add a new colour to the palette of rock sound. Some of the parts on the album sound really broken and weird, and I think that they were having fun creating those sounds. With a master like Dave Fridmann on the dials, they knew what they were doing. The rock/metal world can be a conservative space, so thanks to Baroness for stretching the boundaries. Great song btw.! :)

Probably my favorite song on the album, Just gave it my first listen. Really shows the chemistry between Gina e John on this new era of Baroness

Don't ever let me go, my sweet amphetamine
Holding on, all alone
[Verse 1]
Somebody throw me a tourniquet
I'm open-hearted
I took a shot in the dark and I'm wasted
Start it all again
I tried to save myself from a heart attack
But I had it coming
Another shot to my cardiac
Did not start it up
[Verse 2]
Wake me up on the ocean floor
A storm's passing overhead
Warning me to come ashore
In the blink of an eye
My heart still breaks
My blood still waits
I'll never sleep alone
LOVED IT, Cheers from El Salvador!
