Mastodon is a hard rock band renowned for their hits "The Motherload," "Oblivion," "Asleep In The Deep," "High Road," "Show Yourself," "Steambreather," and "Curl Of The Burl." They worked with artists like Gibby Haynes, Scott Kelly, and Neil Fallon - amassing billions of global streams and headlined sold out shows around the globe.
Lyrics:
Running outside the Nazca Lines
You know I see you all in white
Hoping you'll grow the fruitful vines
And the rain to give us life
Violence born within my mind
I know it always takes its time
Climbing inside the cosmic eye
And forgive the enemy
I wonder who I am
Reflections offer nothing
I wonder where I stand
I'm afraid of myself
Watching you crumble to the ground
Made me want to run away
Helping you find the golden crown
Made it easier to stay
I wonder who I am
Reflections offer nothing
I wonder where I stand
I'm afraid of myself
At the bottom of the mountain
Unaware of my surroundings
Separation from my spirit
Let the trees fall where they may
I wonder who I am
Reflections offer nothing
I wonder where I stand
I'm afraid of myself

Mastodon: creates thought provoking music with meaningful lyrics
Music video: *noses*
this noses nonsense makes sense if you use drugs :)
To quote Ms. Frizzle here: The nose knows.
I wounder who I am, who KNOWS?
Sometimes
@Less Than Nothing... The videos ROCK
"Hey, you know that song Steambreather? How should the music video go?"
Brent Hinds: "fuckin noses"
*snorting a joint through his nose*
That's Dirty B. Hinds for you. Brann is a jokster as well.. go find him in Asstodon shorts.
Yup
Dick Baguette I ask me what kind of drug they take, what they inhale
... Maybe only steam who knows
the next ones probably going to be about horse jerky
The band never has any say in their music videos. They said they want their videos to be funny and memorable and not really reflect their music, because they get really serious writing each song. They don't want to be seen as pretentious prog-musicians. The videos are usually directed by their director friends and most of them are from that "adult swim"-type indie circle.
I know you guys are joking but I just wanted to point that out.
I love Brann's clean vocals. so addictive.
for reals....2 1/2 weeks til them and primus...likely with scott Kelly sitting in...he lives down here...
Evan Davidson Saw them live the other day in Ohio. I wasn't much of a fan prior but they are pretty enjoyable. Also, Primus was kinda underwhelming because half the show was playing through The Desaturating Seven, which felt like a lot of filler. So, if you liked their newest stuff you'll be cool but if you hold your breath for the og Primus hits, you may be a bit disappointed. Overall, pretty fun and not bad for my second concert ever.
My Evan Davidson
I love primus, but I am there to see mastodon...this will be my 4th time seeing primus, and 1st for mastodon...
do we know eachother?
I don't always listen to Mastodon, but when I do, the neighborhood does too
hell yeah
Another great tune!!
fuck yes.
Lel
lol awesome
Not only are these guys helping save rock & metal, they're also preserving the art of the music video as a gift to be watched late at night while baked af.
This vid on acid melted my core
Well said!
@Seeing Through reflections offer nothing
agreed
Far out. I'm baked at 8:18 p.m. but I get what you're saying.
Damn, Mastodon really nose what they're doing.
Brady Jameson think they'll get an award for best music video? Who nose...
I think he nose better than to think that.
Hiyo!
Eye sea what ewe did their
🤣
Seven albums later, still not a single bad record. Growth, change and good shit, LP after LP. Much love.
MetaLegionnaire I know, right. I love all of their records, they're all vastly different and that's something I respect from any musician. His ability to change and grow.
Bands like Qotsa, Baroness...And Mastodon. No bad albums, no ba
ad songs.
Are you a Tool fan? Their music has also evolved brilliantly over the years. I actually learned about these guys by reading the biography of Tool. MJK is a big fan.
MetaLegionnaire Hunter was shit
@@gojira8249 Hunter was brilliant mate.
What I love about this band is that they never take themselves seriously. Their music and lyrics are top class -- deep, profound and contemplative, and yet their music videos are an absolute riot. The contrast is hilarious. They know how elitist and self-important many prog-rock/metal fans can get, and they keep trolling the fuck outta them with every new video. 😂
people who get into it later or get led on by has-beens forget that it was always 'take the music seriously, but don't take yourself seriously'. like, you notice how nobody worth a shit is ever arguing if something has a high enough bpm or not enough blast beats?
reminds me of primus music videos
Like 12-foot ninja. Crazy talented. No ego.
philosophy and humour ;D
Saw them live last year. They bring every bit of that candor and selflessness onto the stage with them. At the same time, it still felt like some dudes playing music they love and sharing that love with the crowd. In short: they rock!
Replaces All-Seeing Eye with All-Smelling Nose.
Well played Mastodon, well played.
Dan Wright Well, failures happen. Hopefully they will be forgiven
Lololololol!!
Dan Wright it's a human horn!
Yeahh
haaaaahahahahaha xD yes!!!!!!!
I'm glad that Mastodon is using this music video to raise awareness and social commentary on nose cults.
Thankfully I'd never succumb to them, I've got a nose for these things. But very important to spread awareness
@junkpunkstore 😂😂😂
Mastodon is the Pink Floyd of metal. Possibly one of the most talented bands of all-time. I just love these guys.
Sorry bro but Tool is the Pink Floyd of metal. Mastodon is The Beatles of metal
- No offense but it is a bold and ignorant opinion.
(...)
Love them myself anyway.
We can agree to disagree and that's ok brother
@@dimebaguno - Hey. I have addressed my message to Kyle, just to be clear. Peace
@@sandordula5207 gotcha. All good bro
This song is catchier than COVID-19
Lol
Top comment
It gets to you through your nose too!
Some people hate this era of Mastodon for that reason.
ha
How are we not talking about the cult leader's name being Master Dan? That's an amazing pun
It's Master DON Thank you very much!
or about his armpit stains 1:28
@lessthannothing...2086nah it’s funny as hell
I can't help but admire the balance Mastodon strikes between taking their music very seriously and being as carefree as they want with their music videos. It is evident in their interviews that these dudes are just as hilarious as they are class act musicians. Serious music with serious music videos can be bleak. I love their humor.
-Why is there smoke coming out of this room Seymour?
-Em, oh, that is smoke? It’s steam. Steam from the steam rituals we are having.
Alright everybody, I slept on this album for WAY TOO LONG! Mastodon has pulled me back in!
Me too! Their new album led me to give this one a listen and in totally underestimated how good it is .... Damn
This new mastodon song is a breath of fresh air.
This new mastodon song is like a breath of fresh smoke! LOL
I can't even listen to Roots Remain with getting chills. Good music all around.
What a cliché comment. I wonder if you ever have your own opinions or you just live life repeating what you hear.
@@soullessSiIence Funnily enough, millions of people throughout time have repeated both that very sentiment as well as the one I'm conveting to you right now. Let the guy enjoy his Mastodon lol.
As long as it's not from.the lead singers nasty ass mouth
This song smells good
Lol
Would it make me too much of a fanboy to remark on how stupid good the acting and editing are in this silly little video? The frustrated bald guy, the hippie chick, the angry punk, the businesswoman in her power suit, the almost involuntary seduction of the older punk guy. Everything is played perfectly. You FEEL something for each of these lunatics.
Such a banger. This one blew me away live. Brann absolutely killed rhe vox and ofc his drumming is just otherworldly.
Mastodon's music is a legal hallucinogen drug
Doc Dave I am thinking that too!
I feel transported to another dimension of consciousness when i listen to this song and jaguar God and the full album :p
So nice of David Draiman to help Mastodon out by appearing in this video.
I have only recently discovered Mastadon, and mannnnnnn I have been missing out.
Godspeed to Mastodon on your ever-evolving journey through time and space. We love what you do. Thanks.
They always deliver with their music videos, rarely a disappointment. This one reminds me of the video for Curl of the Burl.
Either way, another one to go into their great list of music videos.
That one and 'Asleep in the Deep' as well
ŢHƏ_ÇŘØMŮŁØŅ I like what they got
ŢHƏ_ÇŘØMŮŁØŅ So, does that mean that you like what they've got?
Me too, I was thinking Curl of the Burl 2.0
I don't know how the acid reached my brain faster... through my ears or my eyes
Clacho van through your nose
eyes is fastest in a car. short tripartyearoughey!
Through your nose
I didn't know sludge could be so popular. Mastodon and Ghost are really gonna lead the next movement in metal for sure.
Is mastodon a top 5 band of the 21st century?
Not quite imo
I love Mastodon.. but no.
Epic band ....hell yeah 😉👍
Easily. And Gojira
@@dkelly6492 gojira is from 90s
I bet this is exacyly what happened when Tom Cruise went to his first Scientology meeting and this is how he got all of his witch craft!
rip Tom Cruise vanilla pudding
Crap, I liked your comment, now I'm on a list. There are guys in black ties outside my house!!
Your on board or your not on board.
🤣
^^^ that's still a god, my friend.
We all serve a god...it's helpful to at least know your god
But you said make believe gods so yeah those are useless
Love this band, please don't stop what you're doing and give me more souls to inhale through my ears
Kid Goku oh man u should know that with mastodon is through ur nose now dont confuse stuff 😨
ok cocú
although they're not my favorite, mastodon is the best metal band nowadays with a unique style. They are so inventive. They are technical and still emotive, they can sound demonic and angelical, underground and mainstream. Their videos can be serious or hilarious. Brann's clean vocals are amazing, their lyrics are amazing too. I love them.
Man. One of my favorites.
Was this video good or bad? No one nose.
PelleStrandberg I c wat u did thar
Didn`t pass the smell test for me.

“running outside the NASCAR lines”and I can’t I hear it!!! 😂
All of these positive comments....such a love for a group so effing talented. I LOVE MASTODON!! BEST MUSIC EVER!!
2:15 you can actually hear the slap lol
These guys will be in Rock and Roll HOF when all is said and done
Everyone - "I bet you can't make a trippier video than Asleep in the deep"
Mastodon - "Hold my beer"
Totally
Try 'high on fire' videos
Came for the music. Stayed for the acting. I catch something new about all of the characters everytime I watch.
Am I the only one who randomly remembers this song and has to listen to it again. Its like a fucking drug at this point.
The vocal hooks on this album are 10/10 so good
Seriously. These tonguey licks are absolutely kikker
I have the weird feeling that Paul Rudd loves Mastodon
This is the track that will draw you into the unending greatness that is Mastodon.
Started with Jaguar God for me.
"Holy Mountain" vibes. Goosebump inducing arpeggios and riffs. Superb.
"Hey that video was weird as hell"
ME : YEAH, WHO THE FUCK STILL WEARS A WRISTWATCH?
Master Don
I need to quit watching this video
People above the age of 21.
Rich people
People who don't have phones. ME.
One of the last bands to consistently make great music videos.
This riff and song might be one of their most catchy and groovy ones so far, am deeply in love with how the guitars and drums work together to create that _drive_ that you just have to give in to
GRATEFUL....that music of this caliber still gets played on the radio!
Nosetradamus predicted this amazing video .!
Clever.
Ehehe *slow clap *
Script writer: "I'm going to make a very serious and philosophical video for Steambreather"
Brent Hinds while smoking a joint "I have a better idea...."
Getting high & listening to this band is celestial. We love you Bill, Brent, Troy & Brann
Marc MacDonald amen, braah
Playlists are hit + miss, but hearing this one was.... JACKPOT!!! Brilliant band!
Holy shit Mastodon has evolved SO well..
St Alfonso they’ve grown. You’ve stayed the same piece.
Beware ye
The Mastodon cometh
I cannot get over how good their music is. The videos as well are just so wild. Keep it up Mastodon!!!!!
What incredible music. the vocals, the transitions (with the haunting synth)....listen to this on repeat!
Serious Mastodon songs - lots and lots
Serious Mastodon videos - 0
These riffs are tasty af my dude
They are also quite smelly
NOT_Ezra__ hell yeah!
Yeah, but don't say "tasty."
"Smelly"?
wasn't listening to the awesome riffs my brain was being reborn by this fucked music video
dude on the right at 2:41 is me the whole time - at every Mastodon song
I have felt like the guy in the black beanie ever since the beginning of the 2020s.
Who else feels the same?
Same
the guy in tie is great! good actor! :)
Man this is what I love about Mastodon's music and their videos. They're all so creative and different from the mainstream... it's really a breath of fresh air
I saw this randomly on UA-cam one day and decided to check it out. Goddamn this music video is so wild lol, the music is killer as shit. One introductory music video and now I'm a lifelong Mastodon fan 🤘🏻
I've been listening to mastodon for a long time. They are an amazing group.
Cool
Brann is awesome. Drum singing is best singing
1. Open UA-cam as always
2. See Mast..
3. PLAY IT
Mastadon has really grown on me. Now I'm finding these incredible videos. It's like they're the blast from the late 80's-early 90's we need!
This is an amazingly awesome heavy song for having guitar parts that sound like they're out of sponge filled AM radio.
dominos effect 😂
I remember being at the Fort Rock festival in Florida and when I saw Mastodon Brent called out the vapers before going into this song, lol good times
Queen D Music Lol he did this in Phoenix too. It was the day after 4/20 and he made some joke about the song and vaping weed.
As a vaper, I'd relish the moment to be insulted by Brent lol
I was there too!
Great show!
I've actually never seen so much vape before that moment.
southern guys doesn't give a fuck if they want to said something 😂
Is there, like, a Silliest Video for a Rad Song category at the Grammy Awards or whatever? If there is, Mastodon should have won a few times now.
2022 going into 2023 and still listening to this group.
I remember growing up and watching these kinds of music videos on MTV I miss that.
This band never disappoints.
I heard this on the radio and was waiting for the video
You heard mastodon on the radio???? Where the fuck do you live?? My station never plays good music
probably a college town
or he heard it on sirius
Meshuggah Fan8675 95Wiil Rock in Wisconsin is my go to station even though I don't live there. That's where I heard this song first. 👌
Running outside the Nasca lines. Deep.
Love that lyric.
Hands down Mastodon has the best music videos ever.
It's so well connected to the song
Personally I think this video represented the song's themes in the classic hilarious Mastodon fashion, I already have the insane visualizer for "Steambreather" so I'm good.
So apocalyptic! The best sounding band of all time! Always improving in every way! IMPRESSIVE & imprinted my soul
Any song where Brann sings like a special gift
do one for Jaguar God too
Alexandru Papara but please make it a serious video
BU I nose right?
LOVE the atmosphere and feeling of this song.
Mastodon is that band that you love then the do what they want. This song is badass but they'll change it up on you at they're own whim. Respect. Melvins and Clutch do it to me too. If it doesn't groove with me, I come back later and realize I was wrong.
All of Mastodon's videos look like first year film school horror movie projects and I like it
Yeahhhhh 🤘🏼🤘🏼
This is the strangest interpretation of the song possible. I like it
P E R F E C T I O N 🔥⚡🔥⚡
Guitars remember me M.Manson, that particular sound..their videos at the top
Hot dogs, cucumbers, pickles, and noses. Mastodon delivers once again.
Millions of arm hairs stood in the studio the day this song come together
I'm 49 god dam this song so gets me love you guys never stop we need you
Pure escapism...brilliant!
Kevin Smith would love this.
Francisco Inácio hahahahha
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha 👍
Captain?
Director of "Clerks", "Mallrats", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back". Look it up, you'll get it.
Yeah, I know who he is, I just don't get the connection ;)
the more i watch it, the more i like it. Classic Mastodon
My three year old loves this video. Not as much as the one with the kitty, but close.
Those hot dogs lmao! XD
So many aesthetics
WTF did I just watch? = Me everytime I see a Mastodon video.
Thanks. You never disappoint.
Mastodon puts the metal in progressive metal.
To Mastadon: write an entire album like this song and keep writing albums like this.
