I’m a Japanese fun of Baroness, and see this video to know about them deeply. What a surprise is that they chose GAUZE, which is the band of hardcore in Japan. It’s hornorable!!
So good to see Baroness on the channel. They deserve to be so much bigger, such a talented band with a great back catalogue of work spanning different lineups but they consistently deliver
LOVE the Oranssi Pazuzu pick by Gina. Anyone bored with your typical black metal needs to listen to them. Album I would recommend is Värähtelijä. Awesome guitar tones, beautiful yet heavy production, and super fucking unique compositions. Their songs are gorgeous, psychedelic, and demonic
I discovered this band literally just because I saw the album cover for the album she picked out in this video in a vinyl store's metal section one day, and I totally loved the artwork. So I bought the album based off that alone, but the music is banging too!
I absolutely adore this band! They're fantastic live. Gina is a super underrated guitarist. Her work on 2 Minutes to Late Night really opened my eyes. Very much worth checking out if you havent seen it already!
I was in the front row for their Hellfest set last weekend, it must have been 40C+ in there, it was HOT! I don;t know how they managed to put so much energy into their show, but they gave it 100% from start to finish. I was still chanting long after I left the tent. Great to see that King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are getting some love, fantastic band!
I love seeing the eclectic influences and inspirations of these bands. And yes, the story mentioned about Tim Maia is correct, in any case this album is very good, a mix of funk, soul in the Brazilian style.
So I was working on a small record store in South America last year and one day suddenly Nick came in looking if we had some Baroness records. Such a nice guy!
I love Baroness. When my brain chemistry makes it difficult to listen to anything else, I can listen to them. It's so gratifying to see so many of my other favorites from other genres (Judee Sill, Tim Maia, Charlie Haden) show up in their picks. I don't need to feel like I'd be friends with the artists whose work I admire, but it's nice when I do.
The King Gizzard concert was definitely one of my top concerts. The place was electric! Fugazi is also a great band that I still listen to all the time.
I am a zookeeper in chicago and I regularly feed the hippos day old sausages so they have a taste of their home. I put strings on the sausages and swing them around the hippos they get so mad at me and scream but it's an obsession sometimes the hippos try and break out of their cages but I keep swinging those hotdogs in wide circles over their heads. Luckily my boss doesn't know I do this or my coworke
Hey..... Great to see Judee Sill getting some attention....... She came & went a way to soon... Her album catalog consists 3 LP's ...2 from the '70's and 1 released posthumously . Highly recommended LP to look for it can find it is "Heartfood". It has a little more production but it only enhances the listening experience. Great musicians and songs that you'll come back to many times. Andy Partridge does liner notes....a big fan of her music. Vinyl probably hard to find...... simply because it hardly sold back in the day. I picked up reissue Cd back in the late '90s. Well worth checking out...... Keep searching! Cheers.
I just love the music this guys are making. Awesome awesome band. To see what they are currently listening to and where they drawing their inspiration from is so interesting. Can't wait for new stuff from Baroness. Thanks for having them on the show!
Tim Maia transcende! um olá aqui do Brasil, bom saber que uma das melhores bandas da atualidade, tira um pouco da sua inspiração que seja, de alguém como o Tim.
Awesome band, so many good times their set the soundtrack to my life. Saw em with Deftones in Salt Lake city and they were on friggin point, not surprised that they are on of the very few who record live. Also saw em with Genghis Tron at a teeny tiny Grey Whale record store which felt like being invited into their practice space and we were all just friends of theirs. King Gizz, Blood Incantation, Oranzzi Pazuzu..........also not surprised they love interesting stuff... This band should be a household name. They have earned it by now.
Might be the best episode ever. So many cool picks. I think! Everything they chose that I knew was a great selection. So yeah! New stuff to check out. Great! Thanks.
some truly great picks, very eclectic too (from tim maia to oranssi pazuzu, wow). love baroness even more now (and i may have to steal that amenra tee).
Holy fuck balls , i didn't know Blood Incantation had this new cool synth album out!! So glad i clicked this video. Thanks guy from Baroness! 👍 And yes Hand of Faith is an amazing song. I play it at partys , so good to dance to when you are feeling fine :)
More views! These people can play almost any kind of music & it's super cool to see some mellow vibes ... I'm a huge Radiohead fan & always wonder how super heavy rockers feel about stuff like.... piano?
to see how important an interpretation can enhance a listening experience, please listen to a recording of J.S. Bach's masterpiece "The Well Tempered Clavier" harpsichord recording Trevor Pinnock" preferred, and then Daniel Barenboim's "almost" romantic style and you'll probably want to revisit Herr Bach again. Peace, can't wait for your next disc!
This is the first one of these I've seen where the band are actually getting stuff they want, stuff they are getting into, stuff they've heard a little and want to explore more, good on Baroness

You know the band is shi when you have to make up 15,000 reasons why. Good music will leave you you slack jawed with nothing to say.
Came to the comments to recommend this very album! Valonielu is also a great listen from this fantastic band.
their newer album is super sick too
Portal was a great pick too. Both bands are trippy af in the best way.
She just dont stop blowing my mind. I love Oranssi. and gina. She rocks
I discovered this band literally just because I saw the album cover for the album she picked out in this video in a vinyl store's metal section one day, and I totally loved the artwork. So I bought the album based off that alone, but the music is banging too!
Wonderfully eclectic choices. Seem like a band that would be fun to sit and chat with for an evening. Musicians loving music is always good.
Gina has a tremendous taste. Not a surprise coming from a tremendous guitar player-
I absolutely adore this band! They're fantastic live. Gina is a super underrated guitarist. Her work on 2 Minutes to Late Night really opened my eyes. Very much worth checking out if you havent seen it already!
Can't believe people still use the word "underrated"
@@orphanoforbit7588 That's the thing you can't believe?

Was not expecting a Judee Sill appearance in this episode, but so delighted to see the inclusion! Found her earlier this year and been in love.
Shes been on this show ad a selection quite a few times. Shes finally getting her due.
Tinha que ter um artista brasileiro. Viva Tim Maia!
I still feel fortunate to see Baroness live in Brazil on 23/06/2019.
I hope they come back soon!
One of the most eclectic episodes I’ve seen, such an awesome band!
So grateful for the Blood Incantation recommendation. Incredible band 👏
It is but he was wrong its not their first album hidden history of the human race, starspawn it is.
Time wave zero is a masterpiece

They're from Savannah, that heat probably was nothing
I’m really interested in listening to Colter Wall, William Onyeabor, and Blood Incantation now… love these videos! Keep it up Amoeba!
Tim Maia and Gauze in the same video? absolutely based
I love seeing the eclectic influences and inspirations of these bands. And yes, the story mentioned about Tim Maia is correct, in any case this album is very good, a mix of funk, soul in the Brazilian style.
Man I love this series. So cool to see what your favorite artists are listening to.

Wow, these guys showed me some new music to check out. Love that Blood Incantation album.
Love their musical tastes ! Open-Mindness towards many other genres !
Love Baroness, and love their picks. Covered almost every genre!
Checked out Oranssi Pazuzu because of this and they are SICK! I don't even like black metal. Also, STONE is easily one of the best albums of 2023.
HELDON Richard Pinhas, the great experimental french band of all time - Agneta Nilsson is my favorite album - Thanks Baroness for this choice 🔥
Props to the Blood Incantation pick. Can also recommend a bit of Wayfarer (the bands share at least one member).
The King Gizzard concert was definitely one of my top concerts. The place was electric!
Fugazi is also a great band that I still listen to all the time.
This is the second artist that chose Judee Sill! I'm surprised again. So fine to see recognition to her work, she's so underrated.
I am a zookeeper in chicago and I regularly feed the hippos day old sausages so they have a taste of their home. Ahaha that’s so random! And so funny because it’s so random!! Hilarious!!!!
Ryan do you know Neil Hamburger?
How’s the feeding going?
That Heldon album is pretty great. Nice picks.
John is also a killer artist that’s done artwork for so many bands!
Just today I was looking at the " What's In My Bag" videos wondering why there hasn't been a heavier band/artist in a while. This was a nice surprise

I have the Gold and Grey transparent green and pink colored double vinyl LP!
I just love the music this guys are making. Awesome awesome band. To see what they are currently listening to and where they drawing their inspiration from is so interesting. Can't wait for new stuff from Baroness.
Thanks for having them on the show!
Tim Maaaaaaaaaaaia. A genius and a chamaleon, he has a lot of phases in his careerr, all of them are pure gold
What an amazing range of selections.
Tim Maia é muito FODA e fico feliz em saber que os gringos curtem

Big up for John repping Amenra 🖤
Tim Maia transcende! um olá aqui do Brasil, bom saber que uma das melhores bandas da atualidade, tira um pouco da sua inspiração que seja, de alguém como o Tim.
Second band in a row picking Judee Sill. And many more overall. Actually I found out about her here, many years ago 💗

Portal? Fuck yes. That's all I need to know, I'm in love with this talented young lady.
Might be the best episode ever. So many cool picks. I think! Everything they chose that I knew was a great selection. So yeah! New stuff to check out. Great! Thanks.
One of my all time favorite bands! I saw them live in Columbus OH at the Ace Of Cups! Easily the best sounding live band I've ever heard!
I am glad I will finally get to see these guys live in a few days in France. They are so cool and talented.
Best band out there. Super sweet to see what they're into. Still have a bangover from the OKC show I went to a few months ago
great guys very nice indeed, varied tastes for sure-several of they're picks i'm going after-cheers always and GOOD LUCK in future👍🌻💙 NO WAR🌻

Many of the metal guys listen to everything. This is great.

What lovely people and some great recommendations. Thank you
Sebastião Maia, Tim Maia. S2 nice pics guys!
Everyone in this band has great taste in music, I’m gonna be looking some of this music up.
Baroness is really down to earth.
Even if you don’t like country western music, Colter Wall is amazing.
Nice pick👍
6:57 Richard Pinhaus - My old roomate had their stuff. Thanks for the reminder! Lots of interesting picks to check out this go around!
So great to see Portal mentioned. - I myself got to know Portal through "what's in my bag". - keep it up
Judee Sill was also an item featured in Chris Robinson's bag.
Awesome to see some Tim Maia in their list! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
John recommending GAUZE makes me smile and love him even more.
I love Tim Maia from my Brasil.
Tim Maia out of the blue! Awesome
John baizley loves hand of fate! Just makes me love him even more
Not my kind of metal/music, but i listened to few songs, they are a great band
Gina does a lot of work with 2 Minutes to Late Night and its how I really came to appreciate her! check it out!

i would love to hear some piano on the next baroness record.

I couldn't really pay attention to these because that Magma album that was in the background of just about every scene was completely ignored 😢
Ally Pally! Was also there for Gizz in London!
Gina's albums choice, as expected 😁
Funny that Judee Sill and William Anyebar have been chosen by totally different artists recently.
Oranssi Pazuzu, Blood Incantation AND Portal?
Stuff of legends.
This is the first one of these I've seen where the band are actually getting stuff they want, stuff they are getting into, stuff they've heard a little and want to explore more, good on Baroness
Imma Baroness fan. Nice to see them delve into the obscure.
Wow some really solid picks
Nunca esperava encontrar Tim Maia aqui, uma ótima surpresa
Blood Incantation is so dope. I love extreme metal about sci-fi topics, not boring depraved snuff film bullsh*t.
Try Xoth
Oranssi Pazuzu is such a good choice
Long live Baroness
I came into this expecting a very eclectic, slightly pretentious mix of picks, I wasn’t disappointed 😆
Too bad nobody grabbed the Fela Kuti boxset in the shelves behind them.
is that Begbie from Trainspotting?
I want the Magma record at 0:32
My words exactly
Portal, fuck yeah! It's deep, needs listening to hear everything!!
Hey, in the back i can see the EMBRYO "AUF AUF" Album. It's great - really. Check it out!
0:31 MAGMA!!!
Absolutely!!
Amazing band !!!
5:12 true, saw them in 2019 and he wore one
Man I love these guys.
