Actually every top team had traction control in their cars as the ECUs at the time were built by the individual teams, so they used engine modes to hide it. It was banned, but the FIA couldn't enforce it, so they lifted the ban in 2001.

I found out about Asseto Corsa from watching your channel. I got it for Christmas and I instantly fell in love with the sim. I haven’t played anything else since I got it. My fav car is the Porsche 917k. That’s the car that got me into racing.
Wow you can drive the 917k already? I have had the sim for 4 months and I still struggle to do more than one lap on Monza with the thing lol!
Monza is my fav track with that car. It ain’t easy.

You have to enable jump start penaltys for ac to let you start in gear. In content manager you have to set the jump start penalty to pits or drive through I think

@Barfman yep. I made the mistake to first try an 2018 f1 car with Halo on spa. Big mistake. Actually the Halo isn't that bad was my first reaction besides being there in 3d which is crazy itself, but my second reaction was motion Fu***** sickness from hotlaping my outlap. I mean that was faster than I thought I get motion sick xD

The reason traction control was unbanned in 2001 was because the FIA could not enforce the ban and was certain teams were illegally using it in 2000

That car + track combination gave me flashbacks, when as a kid I spend countless hours playing games like EA Sport´s F1 2001 (actually a very good game!) and Grand prix 4. Those were the days.

Jimmy, you can put the car in first before the start if you enable the jump start penalty. I usually set it to drive through.

In assetto corsa you have to turn on penalties for jump starts or it won't work, assumely so you can't just jump the start for free

Theres a sim race centre near me that let you race this era of F1 cars round monza, and my god are they twitchy! A hell of a lot of fun though.
Still my favourite season of f1 this 2000... Insane year all in all
1991, 1993, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012. Some really really nice seasons in a really really nice era of F1

@@potatogirlcultist19 100% correct. But I did forget 2008, 2010 and 2012 aswell. Hybrids destroyed the competitive balance
@@R9naldo Yeah. Ever since the hybrids have come along, only 2 teams and 3 drivers have won championships in 10 seasons. In the 10 year spell Schumacher dominated F1 from 1994-2004, we managed to still get 4 drivers and 4 teams winning championships. And it very easily could have been 6 drivers if Irvine and Raikkonen won in 1999 and 2003 respectively. The only driver and team to even get within a barge poles distance between Hamilton or Verstappen is Vettel and Ferrari.

Bought and tried this car today but I'm finding the rear tyres are around the 115-130 degrees that seems really high? Is that right?....And it just seems undrivable too? Any tips for tuning setups?

I think the FIA were high when they thought grooved tyres were a good idea. Good riddance to them.

For me these cars are awesome. I started simracing in 2001 with ISI F1 2001 and 2002 and Grand Prix 3 and 4. So, these cars mainly.

are the physics right on this game? i remember watching the telemetry on the tv graphics from those days, and drivers were pretty aggressive with the throttle. i'm wondering if these physics are bit too on edge.

I despise the F2000 V10 from RSS it is super snappy on oversteer. There is no correcting or catching it. If you go sideways under braking you will go round. If you have oversteer under change of loads, it will go round. If you have poweroverateer it will go round. It has no grip on the rear end, it is super sensitive on curbs its just a nightmare. I hate it. Whatever I tried with it I didn't work. I even went into the game files, to do more in depth work on the rear setup. It did not work. I cannot push it.

What would be the best gear for someone starting out in sim racing?
You know, cheap but has got some legs on it so you wouldn't immediately want to upgrade everything?
Depends on your budget but IMO a thrustmaster t300 with pro pedals is a good one, since it has good ffb, affordable/wheels can be swapped if you want to and you can add a handbrake and a stick shifter without much hussle.
Just bought AC and tried a race with my WMR headset.... looks absolutely terrible! Are there any video setting tips to make the image clearer, so is it my WMR that's letting me down? Any advice is MUCH appreciated!!
Have you:
- set the resolution correctly?
- set the AC settings correctly?
- set the settings of the headset correctly?
God the sounds are so much more fitting that modern cars

Great video. This looks awesome. Can anyone help me with putting together an affordable pc system that could run this setup? I haven't had a desktop in years and don't do any gaming these days (not pc, not ps4 etc) other than a few games I have on my iPhone-Real Racing 3 is pretty cool on an iPhone. What kind of system should I put together to run a VR game like this and maybe a flight sim/jet combat sim? That would probably be the extent of my gaming.
