This is so amazing to me about the pastor giving a sermon at the temple complex. You go Steve.
I grew up in one of the groups that believed the RLDS church went into apostasy in the 1980’s. This is a pretty accurate history lesson from two non members which is a pleasant surprise 😂
My only correction is James Strang actually claimed he was visited by an angel the exact moment Joseph was killed and that is what gave him authority. He also translated another set of plates during his time as prophet and “King”.
I’m now a believer in Christ alone and attend a non denominational Christian church. Each of you had a role in my understanding of who Christ is. All praise to God!
Thank you for what you do and thank you for being kind and understanding toward those in the restoration. They love Jesus too!!
That's my hometown, growing up around many of these groups.
Audio great.
There’s a quote from Joseph Smith that pertains to succession crisis: “Always go with the majority of the twelve.” (Referring to the apostles, of course.) The only group that can claim having done that was the church that followed Brigham Young.

Of the 11 apostles at the time of Joseph’s death (Brigham Young himself being the 12th), 6 followed Brigham, and 5 didn’t. That’s an awfully close margin. As I said in a different thread, some of the other groups have just as compelling arguments, if not more so.
@@honder1866 no they don’t . And as of now they don’t even teach resurrection . They now are not even close. I heard they changed because they needed money and help from other churches . So they changed a lot to stay afloat .
@@lindamartinez7006 Yes they do. Also, every doctrine currently taught by the Utah LDS church has been modified from the original doctrine. See Charles Harrell’s book, “This Is My Doctrine.”
We in Community of Christ no longer believe that the Reorganization is "the true church". We are only part of the universal body of Christ that makes up all Christianity. Community of Christ no longer claims that our priesthood is the only vaild one.
And James Strang did meet Joseph Smith Jr in person in Nauvoo but did not live in Nauvoo
I have mad respect for Community of Christ. I think your changes are in a wonderful direction.
Not all Congregations believe this yet they remain within the body of the church.
So. Of course you are no different . You are a break off .
@@lindamartinez7006 community of Christ has been a separate church for over 150 years. Completely unlike the Mormon church.
"By their fruits ye shall know them". Brigham led the saints to a wasteland and built a thriving kingdom of settlements and cities across the west.
At the same time the other LDS "churches" that didn't even try anything that difficult are a failing joke by comparison.
The term “splinter” is inaccurate. It implies a legitimacy to one group, with the others being break offs. We refer to the different groups as versions or expressions of the Restoration. Just because the Utah church is larger and richer, this doesn’t mean that it is the “real” version, and the others are “splinters.” Actually, many of the groups have quite legitimate succession claims.
I agree! I'm sorry if I wasn't clear about this in the video
Witnessing something with those "spiritual eyes" is no witness at all.
the full higher priesthood is done by YHWH's own voice, and considering how everyone claims they got it from laying on of hands, shows they are not successors of what they claim to be.
But that is the thing they do not claim they got it by laying on of hands . They say by studying and getting a degree.
@@lindamartinez7006 in the restoration they don't claim by getting a degree, they claim by laying on of hands. But JS and restoration scriptures state by YHWH's own voice.
@@StevenRetz I’m not talking about our true church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I’m talking about out the other churches not ours .
@@lindamartinez7006 FYI I'm not a member of the LDS / Brighamite church that does things by laying on of hands for the full MP where JS, JST, BoM teach it's done by YHWH's own voice. FYI the LDS / Brighamite church has changed how it is given in it's history.
@@lindamartinez7006 We learn the Truth from the Bible taught by Godly men: something Joseph Smith and Brigham Young know nothing about!
Next talk about the 30,000+ protestant churches. I won't hold my breath...
Check out “Ready to Harvest” and “Useful Charts.” They’re doing a great job tackling that one.
Unfortunately, you probably caught this lie from David Alexander. Check out the video on "ready to harvest" about 45000 churches and why this is a misleading number.
Hint: there are over 160 LDS Churches.
@@charlesmendeley9823 I already recommended to him “Ready to Harvest” and “Useful Charts.” My comment mysteriously disappeared.
So how many protestant churches are there? More or less than 160?
@@charlesmendeley9823who care how many churches there are or what fools think . At Joseph Smithx time they’d wrrd6churches all abominations .
Fakes.
What a waste of time when the border issue is more serious.
Wow, two non members talking about the history of the LDS church for clicks.
Steve and Jeff are great guys. They love the LDS church and its people, and they are trying to present them to the world in a positive light. What’s your problem?
@@honder1866 they love making money from the members and the celebrity.
I think everyone has to make a living doing something. Building bridges among Christians is a worthy work, IMO. It’s not like they’re getting rich.
@@honder1866 grift on their own faith then.
@@ShawnGordon You seem to be a very judgmental individual. It’s a free country. They’re not committing any crimes. I suggest you spend your time with something more productive than trolling on the internet.
