Beautiful conversation, thank you! I had my own encounter with the LDS Church being a strong charismatic Evangelical for many years. And whenever I shared my faith and experiences with God, sometimes very powerful testimonies of His intervention, my Mormon listeners were in full agreement with me, often reacting with true tears out of spiritual touch. One of my most powerful memories goes to such a wonderful conversation in 2003 with one of the LDS Church leaders in Salt Lake, Elder William R. Walker, one of the Seventy at that time. Anyway, the dedication to Our Savior lived by most LDS members is impressive and should be taken as an inspiration by many other Christians.
Thank you for saying this. I know the leadership and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are Christians who love Jesus Christ, putting Him at the center of all worship. They have been a persecuted and misrepresented people since Joseph Smith received revelation regarding the church. I am pretty sure the LDS Church is the ONLY FAITH in American History whose members had an extermination order placed on their heads.

Yeah! We all worship the same God and his son Jesus Christ. We Latter-Day Saints just have a supporting book to the Bible, and it guides us on how to live during these latter days and gives us the fulness of the Gospel. Why can't we all just get along?

Even their own prophet Gordon B Hinkley said that the Jesus of Mormonism is a different Jesus than Christianity! (Look it up)
2 Corinthians 11:4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus different from the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the one you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it well enough! (Just as this false prophet speaking)

(This is speaking of confessing the Jesus of the Bible.. which they don’t, as their own “prophet” said.. a different Jesus)

(Weird how an “angel from heaven” came to Joseph)
The ONLY reason this is even a conversation is that they say they serve Jesus but their “Jesus” might as well be named “Bob” or “Frank” it’s not even the same person, not even close. So according to… you know… Gods Word… and not this “man’s word” … Mormon doctrine is a doctrine of demons and does not have any power to save only the power to condemn.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the “power of God that brings salvation” to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Interesting interview. Just want to mention that the discussion of Mormons lacking theological knowledge and therefore struggle to communicate their beliefs is I feel an inaccurate assumption. Firstly one should look at the Mormon ( The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ) conference talks online and you can witness for yourselves the knowledge they have. And yet our Saviour, Jesus Christ, use simple fisherman , etc to be his apostles not any of the Sanhedrin or Pharisees. Why? Because they were humble and teachable and had no agenda of their own, therefore were ideal to teach only the Saviour’s words. Was not Moses one who declared himself ‘ not eloquent’ and ‘slow of speech’ , and yet God used him . Was not King David a humble little shepherd boy, yet God used him. Was not Joseph a humble carpenter , yet he was tasked to be the Saviour’s earthly father. Time and again God has used the meek, humble and less eloquent of the world to achieve his purposes on the earth. I feel that God would continue to use this pattern even today. I appreciate the desire for us all to understand each more and really listen...listen to understand.
King David was a double crossing murdering blood thirsty ambitious person glorified by the Jews as a hero. He was not and I cannot accept God was with him except perhsps in his early youth.

The majority of mainstream Mormons are simply unaware of the core beliefs of the church.
It is not until a member has been in the church for a few years that those more hidden beliefs come to light, but usually one is too far invested, too afraid of the spiritual consequences of breaking free and too consumed in the church's community and infrastructure to leave. It is a brave step indeed to step out of the framework that is a main part of Mormon life.
But a gilded cage is still a cage.

Prayer seems very unreliable as a source of truth.

I’ve only ever felt hatred for my LDS beliefs from the hands of ex-Mormons (they just can’t leave it alone, no matter what, they just go psycho for some reason) and also Calvinists (like Allie Stuckey, with her sweet innocent persona UNTIL she starts machine gunning the LDS faithful, it’s so weird!!) and some baptists. Most other people are like us, trying to get along and unite to fight evil and endure to the end. This gentleman is a peacemaker, may he make an impact and be blessed!
As a member of the church my family has a history from the church from the very beginning.
However I have my own testimony of the gospel! As a Temple worker I so enjoy the gospel and feeling the spirit of God !
But I grew up knowing that other churches hate our church and feel we are going to hell for the things we believe in.
David Alexander on UA-cam was an evangelical, but he converted to our faith he is a wealth of knowledge!
But he confirmed what I have always known, the evangelical churches typically do not like us at all , along with Calvery church and many others. But I guess it all comes down to,down to people fear, what they do not understand!
As a member myself of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I want to personally thank President Mouw for his kindness and his great efforts to build bridges. Hearing about his efforts, the first thought to come to my mind was that he is a Christian in the truest sense.

@@42apostate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has extended the olive branch through humanitarian aid, supporting the rights of gays, lesbians, transgenders and many others that have differences to the religions. President Nelson has emphasized love your neighbor.

Can you explain to us why the Mormon church hasn't/won't produce a video (LIKE THIS ONE) with an LDS apostle/prophet ON CAMERA, apologizing to Christians and their various churches for the many HORRIFIC THINGS LDS apostles/prophets have said about Christianity and other religions....specifically calling them "Satan's Church". This can be found in the Book of Mormon @ 1NE 13:5 & 6 & 1NE 14:10.
This idea has been taught FROM THE PULPIT in General Conf. as well as in all LDS Wards and Stakes.
If God was really leading Mormonism, this would have NEVER happened in the first instance...and would have been apologized for long ago if it had accidentally slipped through.
Joseph Smith started it all 10 years BEFORE his church was even organized!

Disrespecting a neighbour's beliefs is not goodness, I disagree with many of my neighbors' beliefs but that doesn't make me force them to believe the same as me or criticize their choices.
As a practicing Latter-day Saint, I'm so glad to have found this video. I hope Evangelicals and LDS members can continue to build on our commonalities.
I wish the same, by doing so we can all testify to the world Jesus Christ lives and is the world's Saviour and Redeemer.
Additional to that, we could even teach them the laws of God by example.

Please give me an example of where LDS members (MORMONS) have EVER built "on our commonalities" with the Christian community?? You LDS have 60,000 + missionaries attempting to convert Christians to Mormonism, around the world. They are doing so by proclaiming to represent "The One And ONLY TRUE CHURCH of CHRIST On Earth".
Meaning....ALL OTHER churches are FALSE.
How is that "building" anything but resentment and division??
**The ONLY WAY Mormonism can EVER build a relationship with Christianity would be to first...drop the stupid claim of "The One And ONLY..." BS.
**THEN, have the LDS prophet (Nelson) go on public television and apologize for all the nasty things representatives of Mormonism have said about Christians and Christianity over the years since Joseph Smith called them "corrupt and abominable" and "the church of Satan" and the "Whore of the Babylon".
**A third show of good faith would be to call ALL their missionaries home...OR...instruct their missionaries to leave Christians the hell ALONE!
Maybe THEN LDS Inc. might have a chance of establishing a better relationship with Evangelicals.
I'm pessimistic that the Official Mormon church would EVER apologize...for ANYTHING!! Their track record says not a chance in hell!! They have never APOLOGIZED for anything. Why would they start now??
These 3 steps would be perfectly in line with the LDS Article of Faith # 11 that allows all men/women the "privilege of worshiping how, where and what they may".
(Embedded in that A. of F., of course, is the assumption of *W H O* they may chose to worship, i.e., Buddha, Mohammed, Allah, David Koresh, L. Ron Hubbard, Warren Jeffs, or the Spaghetti Monster. *THEIR CHOICE* )

This is a beautiful example of a Christian putting their Christianity into practice when interacting with and discussing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The best way to move in that direction is for you to encourage your LDS leaders to abandon their bigotry toward women and homosexuals...and to have those leaders apologize for their past and current bigotry.
As long as THAT bigotry is in place (NOT just in Mormonism!) you are shackled, blocked, damned from progressing toward that spirit of love and healing you speak of.
Thus far, all I see/hear are platitudes, smoke and mirrors and window dressing..... and *NO ACTION!!*
Mormonism is KNOWN for making changes and adjustments to it's theology, so...making THIS CHANGE should be a piece of cake!

I am truly sorry for any hurt or pain a leader of my church caused you. If you are looking for answers to your questions please see the recent October 2019 confrence. Those questions were directly addressed in the women's conference held Saturday evening. I personally found great leadership and direction there. But, I would also encourage you to go with a open heart to the spirit of God and try to put the hurt behind. I do know your answers are there and I pray you will find them. I also know that if you go looking for discontent and conflict with the spirit of hate and revenge that comes from the evil one, you will find that also. I was teaching an Institute class in a small community of LDS in a small township. I was not totally versed with ALL of what is taught in the church, yet I enjoyed learning as I taught. This lesson would be one that opened my eyes up to a particular topic that never had an answer that brought peace to my soul - until THAT night. As I studied I saw that - an item I felt rather miffed about and very sensitive about - was included in that week's discussion. I knelt in prayer and TOLD the Lord, I am NOT going to touch on that item as I am ill equipped to teach it. We had in our class a non-member and I was NOT going to be able to respond to his questions effectively. After my prayer, I went off to the class confident in what I was going to teach. All went well and I was overjoyed to be moving on and avoiding THAT question, when suddenly, our non-member friend asked - THE BIG QUESTION. Why weren't the black people allowed to receive the priesthood? Well, I just swallowed deeply, wondered where the Lord was and then breathed a sigh of relief when the men in the group, who held the priesthood began to respond, as gradually my mind tuned out of the conversation and was all of a sudden receiving a response and instruction from the Lord. Wow! I was shown something I had NEVER HEARD OF in ANY discussion on this topic, and it opened my eyes to see an understand WHY it was so. I was shown that when the Israelites were taken out of Egypt, they felt overwhelmed regards their future and lack of food and lack of homes, and their immediate response was to return to Egypt to their slave owners because at least there they had shelter and food. They did not yet trust in God and had to wander in the desert for 40 years until the last of the remaining SLAVES were passed over and the NEW generation was FREE of the feeling of being slaves. This dilemma had also faced the Slaves in America. When they were freed from slavery - they had nothing. They went out into the wilderness - though a different wilderness - still - one they did not know, and most were split up and there was no one to connect to, so they were looking at going back to the slave owners because there they had shelter and food. They too, were left to wander in the wilderness for many years until the last of the original SLAVES had passed over before they would turn their hearts fully to the Lord and trust in and follow Him. I still feel the peace which came from that understanding, and as I explained this to the class, an immediate response of - YES that makes sense, came from them all. HISTORY often repeats itself. In our times, we can relate - especially in this time on the planet - that we are walking in the same paths of Sodom and Gomorrah and can expect severe calamities as the Lord strives to turn people's hearts back to HIM. They will come thick and furiously and if we have done our time in the wilderness and have come back to God with a much greater strength and determination to serve HIM. we will find ourselves on the right hand of God. Each of us - Evangelical and Mormon, and many who do not tie themselves to either party, yet still seek the Lord and all His goodness, will find Him a loving and gentle and forgiving Lord who says - come unto me and I will give you rest. We are ALL on the same page. We all seek God, and Him crucified. We find our answers and we strive to live HIS way. We ALL want the best outcome. Be true to HIM, no matter where you are on your path, hold to the Word of God, and as someone said recently, buckle up your seatbelts and HANG ON FOR THE RIDE - IT IS GOING TO GET BUMPY. Let us ALL STAND TOGETHER, PRAISE GOD ALWAYS, and STOP contending with each other but do as OUR LORD AND GOD WANTS US TO DO - love one another.
That truly was a good explanation and seems to match up when in the 1970 hit . The government changed . Laws changed . It was more safe . Persecution stopped At one time it was even against the law to have interracial marriage . Things just got better and better everywhere and safer .

If you want to "get along" with others, you avoid talking politics and religion...esp. with Mormons.
They have a very sensitive "persecution complex". If you DARE disagree with them, *IT'S PERSECUTION!!*
In my not insignificant experience, most Mormons are not bigoted, but they don't DARE stand up to their church and object to the official position of Mormonism (RE: Women and homosexuals) for FEAR of being disciplined/ostracized/humiliated and shunned....AND, the very real possibility of losing family and friends. Those that do have the balls to speak out either leave or are EXed.
I experience it all the time....I guess because I disagree strongly with nearly everything about LDS theology....AND, I don't tread softly.
How does one "get along"with a religion that is systemically as bigoted as Mormonism--EXCEPT BY LDS Inc. modifying their BS?
I can smile and be nice--as long as they keep their bigoted theology to themselves. THEY DON'T!!
As long as LDS Inc. maintains 68,000 missionaries (I was one of them) in the world, teaching their deceptive nonsense, and flooding UA-cam and other Social Media with their bullshit, I'll be there to object....where and when possible.
LDS Inc. is LOSING ground to their critics, placing LDS Inc in *desperation mode!* You can see the evidence of that desperation by the huge increase in their PRO LDS videos and ads....and their refusal to deal with their problematic
positions (doctrine and history) honestly, publicly. If they would do that, I'll disappear.

I've been accused, and have seen others accused, of persecuting LDS members while simply asking questions.

I also applaud the respectful and the civil manner by which Richard Mouw explains the faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richard is a wonderful man and has the ability to think very progressively about the relationship between the two faiths-"we've often told what you should believe, instead of ask you what you believe."
It's sad about the poor reception he received from some of his own circles because of his apology. I wish nothing but the best to my Evangelical brothers and sisters and there are more similarities between us than differences. Again, thank you for this wonderful interview.

The more our churches share their insights about the scriptures we can learn more that we haven't learned yet, I want to share one of my favourite scriptures from The Book of Mormon.
2 Nephi 28:30
30 For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.
I love how it explains the Lord will reveal to us more of his word to us at a rate we can understand, if we are willing to receive more.
There's a scripture in Matthew 13 sharing the same teaching that the Lord will give more to those who receive.
As Paul taught in Ephesians 1:10 that in the fullness of times God will gather all as one in Christ, the more we learn from each other the more unified we become, and eventually we will be all one in Christ in the Lord's timing.

I'd like to share MY 2 favorite Book of Mormon scriptures.
1. 1st NE 4. Nephi cuts off the head of Laban as he lay dead drunk on the street.
2. Alma 30. Korihor struck dumb for teaching a different story than Alma taught...and Korihor is eventually murdered by the good people of Zarahemla.
I also like Jacob 1 and 2, where GOD, through Jacob the prophet, denounces polygamy...like the polygamy of David and Solomon.

We're one of the least in number churches since we're less than two centuries old, and so many members leaving as signs of the Second Coming is not far.
We don't have many tithe payers so tithing alone is not enough to obtain all we need to build the kingdom of God for the Second Coming.

Ask Oaks to apologize to Christians for all the horrendous, DOCUMENTED STATEMENTS Mormon leaders have made, over the years about Christians and their churches and their theology?
I'll wager $1000 that Oaks (and ALL the other top 14 LDS leaders) won't do it. Why won't they?
Because THEY HAVE NO CONSIDERATION!! They are sociopaths!!
Doing so would infer that Mormonism had done something WRONG...something they would never and WILL NEVER admit to.
So much for creating a mutual "understanding in peaceful respectful ways".

They may be endorsed by Oaks and others of the "BIG FIFTEEN" leaders, but, nothing short of an IN PERSON appearance of one of the "15", ON CAMERA, apologizing to Christians/Christian churches, will do....because, in none of them was there even a HINT of remorse, sorrow or an apology....OR even an admission of wrongs done.
IMO. The "Big Fifteen" are responsible...because they are the root of the original disparaging remarks by the Fifteen of earlier times.

No Mormon person EVER said or did anything "harmful" toward me or my family. IOW. I was never *offended* by any Mormon. I've always found them to be happy, intelligent, fun and helpful...much like you've been here. I have, right now, family and friends like you, who are devoted Mormons and GOOD people.
I decided early on that I would never judge Mormonism (THE CHURCH) by the negative human actions of it's members. (The exception to that would be LDS leaders, the "FIFTEEN"...tho none of them ever offended me in any way other than being deceitful toward ALL LDS members...which included ME...tho I didn't know it at the time. Only after leaving was I able to see it.)

@@daveyjones9930 I can see the value in wanting an apology. It felt wonderful hearing this apology from the video. I find it doesn't matter how much proverbial fire this gentleman went through for doing such, because, like you said, one cannot judge a group by the acts of the members.
I can think of times where Apostles have specifically talked about the culture of the Church and how it is shame based and has no place in the Church. I have heard times where people speaking in General Conference have apologized. I felt I needed that from them, too.
Sometimes you need to feel that someone cares, and nothing else matters until you do. And, quite frankly, you will know His disciples that they have love one for another and in 1st John 4 we read that if anyone knows God, they will love - among many other references that love is the ultimate fulfillment of the law.
If you wanted to talk on Insta, I would be willing to see if I could find some more references and send them to you.
I contacted some people in my congregation and said that I would like to find some references for when Apostles have apologized - specifically the Apostles and Prophets. They said they would look.
Again, I do apologize for the ways that fellow followers of Jesus Christ have been treated by the Apostles and Prophets in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I recognize that they are not perfect and Elder Uchdorf stated in General Conference that they are not. They really are not perfect and it was never Church Doctrine that they were. They have made statements that other Apostles and Prophets have re-said in ways that take out their human weakness from the words they said. Most specifically, Elder Oaks made a statement that people in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were to always follow a Church leader even if they are wrong. Later, Gordon B. Hinckley stated that when interacting with leaders, one should ask questions and not stop asking questions until they felt they understood. It was our duty to ask questions and know what we devote ourselves to. What I could feel from the talk is that it is our proper duty to agency to do so.

So the belief itself does not matter- What does matter is how they treat you. Do they treat you like you are equal to an insect- or do they treat you with common decency and even kindness. Mormons are instructed to treat everyone else a children of a Heavenly Father- period. They don't have to hold your hand and tell you how wonderful you are but they are not to treat you with contempt either. Mormons on the whole treat others better than they often get treated. I know this first hand, I was raised in the LDS Church but walked away at 19 years old... and even then, I was treated with hostilities because I wouldn't join in on "hating" on Mormons to prove myself to the anti-Mormon crowd. I just wanted to be left alone.

As a latter day saint( LDS, this is how we mormons call ourselves), I am tremendously grateful for this video. Mr. Richard Mouw is a remarkable man. The honesty, care and truth in his remarks could not have been guided by nobody except God. Inspired leaders like Mr. Mouw, like our prophet Russell Nelson extend those bridges of communication that the devil himself have brought down purposely long time ago. I served as a missionary for 2 years. I encounter evangelicals who looked down to Mormons, as wells those who respected and listened to us. They never received a free copy of the Book of Mormon as a gift (as if they were told at church to never receive one) but I saw we have more in common than we think. To all the evangelicals brothers and sisters who read this, may I invite and urge you to read the Book of Mormon, not with the intend to convert you, but with the intend to get to know each other more, to use the bridge of communication between us extended by these inspired leaders. This brief comparison should help you see the difference between the two view of Christ. Jesus cannot be both the literal sexually begotten son of god and not the literal sexually begotten son. He cannot be both one of 3 gods and not one of 3 gods. They are different.

If I "respected" other beliefs, I may still believe in Santa Claus the Tooth Fairy or an egg-laying Easter bunny. Instead, I junked those beliefs at about 6 years old.
Why would/SHOULD we respect the Flat Earth beliefs, or Islam or Scientology? The only way to rid the world of false beliefs is to mock, ridicule and verbally "attack" those false beliefs.
As G.F. stated, the LDS church is actively attacking other religions by sending out an army (68,000) of missionaries who are telling Xtian that their churches are false---which is exactly what Joseph Smith taught.

THAT is an *attack* !! A blatant attack....whether YOU think it's true or not!
Another "attack" common in Mormonism is the statement constantly made by all Mormons, "Unless you are baptized by a Mormon holding the Priesthood, you CANNOT live with God in the CK."
That is ALSO an attack.
The best course of action for Mormons is to throw OUT those claims. They are incendiary and divisive...as well as UNPROVEN!

This video is over 5 years old. Noticed how many Evangelical leaders today have either renounced their former statements on the Mormon cult or denounced the Mormon cult in its entirety. Including prominent Evangelicals who wholly disagree & disapproved "President Mouw"s comments. Romney was running for Prez at that time. It was either "the devil you know, (Obama) or the devil you don't know (Romney)". Praise Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Jacob, & Isaiah that many Evangelicals were educating their fellow Christians on cultic theology of Mormonism. Which is why Romney lost the nomination to the POTUS. God willingly.

I have been to many churches both evengelical and traditional and also to Mormon churches both LDS and non-lds... I really do not see major differences... They both believe in God... Jesus... And the Holy Ghost... Hi-5 the Catholic Church much more diverse... Then the evengelical and the Mormon churches... So it looks like the closer you get in theology... The more anger it produces...

There is a group called "Believers Building Bridges" started by Dr. Lynn Ridenhour, a Baptist minister from Missouri that is doing amazing work in this field. This is from their website, describing an interfaith event:
"I saw a miracle last night! Bible-believing Christians and Book of Mormon Christians loving and laughing and hugging one another-over 300 of us! The gymnasium was packed with men, women, and children from various Protestant, Pentecostal, and Latter-day Churches. Emails and phone numbers were collected and exchanged, and we went home happily in one mind and one spirit. Forty-eight Protestant churches were represented.
Our group, Believers Building Bridges, joined together with “Independence is Alive and Well” last evening to join the Lord’s people in some good food at the LDS Independence Stake Center. Last evening hearts were mingling, brothers and sisters sitting around tables were laughing, there were moments of acknowledgment and applause.
What an evening of bonded hearts, love and unity. Mike Brown said to me, “Brother Lynn, there’s such a sense of love and a spirit of unity in this room. People are sensing it. The Movement is Growing! The Time is Now!"
Made me think of this verse:
1 Cor. 1: 9 - 13 "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided?
And in unity can all agree -- that in this we all speak the same thing:
2 Nephi 25:26 [Book of Mormon] "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."
Wow! What a great event and movement!! There are so many opportunities to join together on common ground for the common good. The forces of evil and growing and its time for followers of Christ to also band together to help each other and look for the good.

If you're willing to listen to God you would know just because someone believes different to you they will not go to hell.
Now we'll take a closer look at life after death, that hell has two meanings.
Revelation 20:12-15
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Notice in verse 13 people were delivered out of hell to stand before God, they were in hell before they were even judged, so we can say with certainty the final judgement is not straight after death.
Verse 14 claims hell was then casted into the fire, since everyone was delivered out of hell to stand before God no one was casted into the fire with hell, everyone is now standing before God.
Revelation 20 doesn't say a single thing about faith or grace, but does say everything about our works in the book of life and that we will be judged according to our works, not according to our faith.
So whether someone is casted into the fire or not is dependant upon their works, not their faith.
The second death is "outer darkness", the other meaning of hell.
When Christ was crucified he filled the gulf in between paradise and hell to create a bridge.
Luke 16:26
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
"there is a great gulf fixed:"
Then Christ preached to those in Spirit Prison/Hell.
1 Peter 4:6
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
Ephesians 1:10
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
"both which are in heaven, and which are on earth;"
The gathering of Israel is on both sides of the veil, a prophecy to be fulfilled in the last dispensation of the fullness of times, that was not 2000 years ago.

All people want to be happy because God wants us to be. Life is full of growing experiences to prepare us to meet Him again some day. Having friends make the journey sweeter! "You don't put your best case against somebody else's worst case." That's so true, but I think it is something we can all slip into. There's never any reason to tear people down, you can try to meet people where they are at and lift others to the degree that you can. I'm sure I said plenty of ignorant things in my life. I grew up in South Texas where the vast majority of the people knew were of many other faiths. So I understood quite a bit about other faiths and even though I had been told I was going to hell on occasion, I knew it came from a place of love and concern. Sometimes our applications of the gospel can be clunky. I've had absolutely wonderful experiences with other faiths that far outweigh the negative. I currently serve over interfaith and service efforts for our stake (a collection of congregations similar to a Catholic diocese). It is the most wonderful thing to engage people and talk about our religious beliefs in a manner where we look for the strong things that unite us and seek to build each other up. I appreciate Richard's approach and think it is something we all can learn from.
I do get tired of being told that I am not a Christian. We all need to stop the hate and stand together in these tough times. Thank you for this video.
@Hermie I can kinda see what you are saying but I hadn't notice that we weren't understanding when it comes to Protestants and Catholics but that could be the area a person is in. In my area we all get along pretty well. I think there is plenty of room in this world for any Christian religion and those who are not Christian but teach good things. Like loving your neighbor and doing good. I can see where people of other faiths may not understand the Moroni on the temple. We in the church realize what he represents but others might not and would think it should be Christ. Please trust me when I say we are Christians. As Mormons worship a different God and a different Jesus to true Christians, they have introduced the reason why they are not regarded as Christian. If one creates the problem, one can hardly then complain when people notice it and point the errors out. The Jesus I worship, found in the Bible is not the son of Lucifer. He is God manifest in the flesh. The ETERNAL Son of God. He was not made or thought up. His Father is the ETERNAL God. He was not once a man who became God. There are no gods having endless sex in heaven making spirit babies. That is Mormon tales, not of the Bible. There is your first big problem.
@Hermie The "I'm a Mormon" campaign was policy at best, not doctrine. Nowhere in any scripture has the Lord called His people "Mormons". It was a slur made up by detractors of the church during the days of Joseph Smith. As far as the angel Moroni goes, not all temples have that on top, and while it was a symbol that we used predominantly in the church, it was not a focus of worship. to my understanding, the angelic visitations (starting with Moroni) were fulfillment of prophecy found in Revelation 14:6, since what they brought about was the restoration of the everlasting gospel, including priesthood keys and clarification of doctrine. Certainly, angels can, have, and will appear unto men and women through all time, declaring the everlasting gospel of faith in Christ and repentance until the Lord declares His covenant made to Abraham fulfilled, or else He would be a God that we could not trust to keep His Word.

His Son, also our Father because of choices we make to be born of Him spiritually in this life, is also eternal because He takes after the Father perfectly. He does His Will without hesitation. Lucifer is the opposition, and even the bible teaches in several places that he was cast down from heaven, meaning he had to be there to be cast down from there. Not that he was a good guy just because he was there, though.
As far as how spirits come about, your guess is as good as mine, and the "endless sex in heaven making spirit babies" is not something we teach. You would have a greater understanding of us if you tried to ask us what our core beliefs are, not our fringe theories and statements. I've answered you because you, like most people I've met with misconceptions about our faith, have likely only been told what people wanted you to hear, and not what is actually true about us, and I wanted to highlight that what you've heard and what we are are two very different things.

This was beautiful! I left the Mormon Church--my family still very involved--and will never forget that Evangelicals were often incredibly cruel and always telling Mormon missionaries what they believed (Being equitable, Utah Mormons can be a cruel bunch to non-Mormons.) I commend this man for his tenacious honesty. It's like the moment Pope Francis and President Nelson met; putting aside a prejudice hinged on the doctrine of "authority." It's my personal belief that the actions of this man show the strength of Christ. It was the rigid and inflexable of Jesus's day who caused suffering.

As he ticked off the four bases of evangelical thought, I saw that Mormons align pretty closely with three of the points, except the Bible as the only scripture -- Mormons of course accept other books as scripture. And respecting the cross, I think there may be some misunderstanding -- Mormons do not focus on the cross per se, but do most definitely emphasize the atonement, for which the cross is the symbol in evangelical thinking.

How do we decide which meaning of "firstborn" is the Bible using, I see symbolism in the commandments the Lord gave at the beginning.
The people were commanded to sacrifice the firstborn male animal, which ever one was given birth to first.
That's aligns with Christ been sacrificed.
If firstborn in the Bible means "the first one born" it fits that the Father sacrificed the firstborn lamb to atone for our sins also explaining where the name "The Lamb of God" comes from.

The early Saints didn't seem to find Joseph's behaviour as problematic or wrong as people today.

William Law, a friend of Smith's and church leader, filed a lawsuit against Smith regarding his philandering and polygamous marriages. Unfortunately, Smith was murdered before Law's case went to trial.
3. RE: LGBT.
WHERE was LGBT condemned by God? Paul was supposedly the author that condemned homosexuality, and it was condemned in Leviticus by an unknown author. BOTH of these authors were HUMAN BEINGS. Apparently they were also BIGOTS! God had nothing to do with authoring that bigotry. Jesus (the guy who's name is on your buildings), *NEVER CONDEMNED* LGBT people! Your Book of Mormon doesn't condemn them either.

4. LDS racism had nothing to do with what people were calling black Africans/African Americans. Instead, LDS racism had to do with the way they were TREATED in Mormonism. They were not allowed to hold the priesthooy

Being lds, you will experience it all the time, others telling you what you believe. Its funny sometimes, but can get tiresome. I usually try and find out what the other person believes, but usually they are guarded and scared to open up about their beliefs, it's easy to attack any religion.
Greg, when you feel like Christians are telling you what you believe, ask them for biblical and LDS sources for what they are saying. Here's your part: if they do refer you to those, even though you may never have heard of them, find them and prayerfully read them, asking Heavenly Father to help you in finding all truth. Maybe they are wrong or maybe they're right, or maybe some are and some aren't. But God will absolutely answer that prayer.

I've seen people be crafty and use church material to give false impressions, I ask those criticizing me for their sources.
As soon as I look at their sources I always come to the one of two conclusions.
1) They're attempting to deceive me by taking things out of context by omitting text.
2) Their statements are not truth, they are just their views of the truth.
That's one of the biggest problems among today's people, they define their opinions/views about the truth as the truth.

I see too many people judging one another, they don't have a clue what is in the heart of each individual! Or you can call it speculation, you can speculate all day long and never be right. Yep. Also you have the wheat and tares, they will be divided. I read many statements, some are not very Christ like. So my question is, which one are you, I'm talking to the ones that read this statement, are you a wheat or a tear? Just in case you don't know, the wheat follow Christ and the tears follow no one except the world of Satan.
That is because the majority of LDS have only a partial understanding of what Mormons actually believe.
It is not until the new member has been in for a few years that little things come to light and by then the person is so invested int he church, for many there is no way out.
A non combative, non critical Evangelical. Thank you! As a latter day Saint business owner i have had many Evangelical employees and have had some interesting conversations with them. A common statement I heard often was how they could not understand how me and other latter day saints could be so normal and yet believe in such weird doctrine. I would tell them that perhaps it wasn't that weird. The Lord's church in the meridian of time was considered heretical then as well.

( Ironically the punishment would denote there is an opposite reward and both punishment /reward denotes that a person needs to do something to deserve either. Just that simply saying the "Sinner's prayer" as all a person needs to do to be saved is logically non -scriptural.)

In short, God speaks to ALL of us but when he speaks to prophets (historically throughout scripture and today) it has been for the guidance of the church. We are all responsible for asking for confirmation of everything spoken by modern day leaders and in obtaining personal guidance for our individual lives and learning. God is not finished speaking and we are encouraged to ask him to speak to us. He loves us and he does.

It doesn't really matter what you believe (about God speaking to others...tho I agree with you).
What counts is what MORMONISM TEACHES. Your church disagrees that God speaks his truth, doctrine and instruction to others. The LDS church claims to BE "the one and *only true church on earth* ". That means no other church/person can authoritatively receive God's doctrine. Individuals CAN get PERSONAL info and help and direction from God, no problem...according to LDS Inc.
I was LDS for 50 + years...Seminary, Elder, mission, bishopric, High Priest, GD teacher, BYU, etc.
I asked for and got direction from God/Spirit to leave Mormonism after finding disturbing information about my Mormon church. I prayed mightily and studied Mormonism for two years and came to the conclusion that my church was not what it claimed to be ...and I resigned my membership.
I also agree with you that more people need Jesus. The test is what those other people are saying/claiming/teaching.
If they teach/practice bigotry, hate and division with other groups of people, they are not "following Jesus" and should be avoided.

Firstly, I had Karen Saupe as an English professor. She highlighted some personal thing for me, albeit overly direct. But, mentionable props to her as a professor. And yes, Karen, my poetic side has grown. ;)
Secondly, being a convert to the LDS church shortly after graduating Calvin University, I enjoy the truth that Calvin is truly opening up its heart about other religions. I have seen both sides of the coin when it comes to these two communities and have praise for both. Now, only one of them (LDS) gets my commitment and unwavering support, but, Calvin will always have a place in my heart.
So cool! Thanks for sharing. This really brightened my night. I'm also LDS. My kids go to a Baptist Bible school they (and my husband and I) love it. I'm thankful they are able to also see things from another perspective. They study the Bible every day.and know it so well. 💕💖

Daniel Moore agreed the Mormon concept of the trinity lasted until the council of Nicea where Eusebius, ACKNOWLEDGED BY ALL IN HIS OWN DAY AS THE LEADING SCHOLAR, was nevertheless shunned as a heretic for Arianism, and so Eusebius “converted” to what is now the “true” trinitarian concept. But it was not always so.

That's exactly what I believe, both before hearing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and believe it still, I've always denied the Trinity and various creeds.
I've always believed the Father has a body because we can't be created in his form or image if he has no form or image.
I do not believe I have the right to a glorified resurrected body if the Father does not. Since the Father is greater than Christ or equal according to some, the Father will have a body just like the Son.
I believe the Holy Ghost is a god that dwells in us. I'm fine with you believing in the Trinity even though I disagree, for I have alternative beliefs about what happens after mortal death.
We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and in doing good to all men. Indeed we may say that we follow the ADMONITION of PAUL. We believe all things, hope all things, have endured many things and hope to be able to endure all things. Absolutely, the apostle Paul admonishes us to do that and many other important things. Not to be mean, Heather, but the LDS denomination doesn't acknowledge or follow 95% of Paul's other important teachings, such as the nature of God and Christ and how we reach salvation and eternal life. The main disagreement we'll have is we believe in continuous Divine Revelation from the power of God while every other church upon this earth denies the power of God.

As a Catholic convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 2003....this was spot on!!!! I can remember the Baptist protests at General conference on 2003 wondering what were the Baptist thinking???
I recall being shunned elsewhere when all I have seen is Love in Action within the local church wards and if needed they help outside state boundaries where someone is in need. I never saw that in Catholicism, even a a lay Carmelite, unless it was their own controlled program. These people walk the talk that Christ taught and within Old/New testament. They did not add to the Bible, they testify to the Truth in it. Standing together on this earth helps us all, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Wow, you left Roman Catholicism for Mormonism. I understand leaving the Roman Catholic Church, if you left because you read your Bible and understood what you read. However, this must not have been the case, since the Mormons believe in many "Gods", and that Jesus was just a brother of Satan. They also believe that all the "Gods" were once men. There are countless theological problems with Mormonism. The problem is this: Will Mormonism ensure your eternal salvation, or will Mormonism ensure your damnation. The opinions of mankind do not matter. All men are but dust and their lifespans are but a vapor. God has set His parameters for Salvation, entry into Heaven, in His Holy Scriptures, the Bible. Mormonism, as all other non-Christian religions, deny the Holy Trinity and who Jesus is. There is NO salvation in Moronism.

I'm also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and we have thoroughly enjoyed our frequent interfaith gatherings with members of various churches in the area. Whether it's sharing Christmas choirs or doing humanitarian work side by side, it's been a wonderful blessing be warmed by the faith of so many followers of our Savior. In this world of growing darkness, let's hope we can always light a candle and stand together in love and respect.
Interesting discussion, and I applaud Mr. Mouw's efforts to be fair minded, honest, and Christian in his dealings, but as a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints, I feel that there are still matters that are expressed in this interview that reflect incomplete and/or inaccurate understanding of some things about us. I won't take the space to cover it all, but I'll make just a couple of comments:
First, in this interview it was stated that our doctrine changes, which I think is inaccurate. We see a distinction between doctrine and policy. Doctrine is rooted in eternal principles, but is implemented through policies and procedures, and policies & procedures may change when God says it is time, but eternal principles remain, and so does doctrine. For instance, the Law of Moses forbade certain foods and required certain ceremonies and practices, which God no longer required after Jesus Christ accomplished his atoning sacrifice in our behalf. After his resurrection, he revealed to his church that the old Jewish law had been fulfilled, so a policy change was made to stop adhering to it. There was no change of doctrine, inasmuch as the principles behind the Law of Moses in the first place were rooted in symbolically pointing the Jews to Jesus Christ, which is eternally valid. Likewise, changes to our practices via policy change are also not doctrinal changes. Policy changes in our church are not correcting some error in how we did things. Some of the things about which God instructs us through his prophets, he doesn't tell us why, he just says do it that way, or stop doing it that way. When the Law of Moses came to an end, however, he did tell us why (through writings of Paul the Apostle), and we know that it was the right time for the change; before Jesus's resurrection the Law of Moses was required, but after that it wasn't. It's the same with some changes in our practices, whether or not we are told why changes are made. The distinction between doctrine and policy is real.
A second point is this: the interviewing lady Karen S. (I won't try to spell her name and get it wrong) called us "The Church of Latter Day Saints" twice in this interview. That is inaccurate, and some of us perceive that to be an unfriendly gesture, although we strive not to take offense. Unfortunately it is all too common among leaders of Protestant faiths to intentionally misstate the name of our church, for their own motives. We perceive that to be a technique for denying our Christianity, by omitting the name of JESUS CHRIST from the name of our church. We are not "The Church of Latter Day Saints", we are The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. Huge difference. While it may be correct to refer to people in our church as Latter Day Saints, it is never correct to call the church "The Church of Latter Day Saints". We worship Jesus Christ, and we believe that he is the head of this church, and that he created it by restoring the primitive Church of Jesus Christ as its doctrines and priesthood authority existed when Jesus was on the earth. We believe that Jesus Christ is governing this church, through his latter day prophets to whom he reveals what he wants us to know and to do, as well as through prophets of former times who wrote the books of the Bible and other sacred texts. We believe that this church is the instrument of Jesus Christ through which he deals with mankind in many vital matters, including much of the effort towards preparing the world for his Second Coming, which is imminent.
Also, calling us Mormons because of our belief in The Book of Mormon is using a mere nickname that doesn't adequately communicate who and what we are. That nickname originated shortly after the restoration of the church in 1830 as people of other faiths called us that as a term of derision, which we embraced as a badge of honor as a persecuted people. It was similar to how the Americans in the Revolutionary War were derisively called Yankees by the British, but embraced the name. But it has become clear that the nickname denigrates what our church actually is, and the church needs to be called by its correct name, particularly emphasizing that we are The Church of JESUS CHRIST. The correct name of the church indicates a covenant relationship between Jesus Christ and his people on the earth. The covenant is offered to us by Jesus Christ through his grace and mercy, and is accepted by us through having faith in him, repenting, and living his commandments and partaking of his ordinances and embracing his atonement for our salvation. As we become the covenant people of Jesus Christ, we become Latter Day Saints, but Jesus is the benefactor and administrator of the covenant, hence the name, The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. To leave out the name of the most important One in the covenant is to entirely miss the point, and to do a sad disservice to all concerned.
All that being said, Mr. Mouw seems like a genuinely good man with sincere Christian intent. and we welcome friendship with people of good will. We have a lot of common causes and common beliefs with other Christians, and it behooves us to embrace each other as brothers and sisters in Christ as the world is increasingly becoming more hostile to believers in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for this interview. It gets very tiresome being misrepresented and told what I believe about my own Faith. So, thank you for asking us. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) love the Lord and our fellow men.
I am grateful for these things. My mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, and my dad was a member of the Baptist Church. Back in the 60’s, unfortunately sparks flew one evening...but my parents stayed together after thinking of splitting up. Because of us kids probably. But now they are glad in heaven that they did, I bet.
I don’t recommend marrying someone who differs in some beliefs, though. It was hard for me to see the conflict...like with my dad, who is one of the best people in the world.
What a wonderful man you are just for wanting to get to know us and learn what we feel, believe, and what our different but real motives are. Thank you and bless you. As an older Mormon Missionary couple serving in Sicily for two years. We worked on Sigonella our Military Base with three Protestants Ministers , a Catholic Priest and my husband and I the Mormons. I can’t begin to tell you of the love and respect we had for each other. We didn’t make it about our differences but our commonalities like our love and devotion to our Savior Jesus Christ! His stoning sacrifice for all of us born into this world must be understood, pondered, and studied. It must have a deep meaning to each of us individually. Until we understand our own individual need of repentance’s can’t have a meaningful relationship with Jesus. He invites us all to Know him and receive the spirit as he gives us knowledge, blessings and love. I still cry when I think about him suffering before and on the Cross. For me a sinner he suffered and bled and died! Once we are secure with him, the Bible and other scriptures we gain the knowledge, love and desire to reach out to others of different beliefs.
I had the privilege of studying the Bible with my amazing evangelical friends. One year we studied Daniel and the next Revelation. I learned so much about their beliefs and genuine love of Christ it was exciting to go the following week.
They were skeptical of me because I was a Mormon but in a few weeks we began to enjoy studying the Bible and feel the spirit! What a wonderful two years. We all cried when we left to go home because of our mutual love a respect for each other.
I tell my fellow Mormons today my friends were some of the most spiritual, loving and wonderful people I’ve ever met.
Thank you for working to get to know us. We got to know you several times a week. I loved the Catholics as much. Each time we saw the Catholic Priest we had a respectful genuine hug for each other as we did with our Ministers. I love them with all my heart and soul still today and know they are going to be with Jesus right along with all heart felt Christians! We will rejoice together with love and praise for God. I found we really aren’t that different. We all need God in our lives and hearts, need love and respect and desire to leave this world a little better place as Jesus changes our hearts through his atoning sacrifice and we come to deeply know and love him. I didn’t want this to be a sermon but felt the need for my Mormon family to know why they should reach out to all others despite different belief systems. I love today to get to know members of all different beliefs in our town and not to put my beliefs on them but love and get to know and serve each other.

There is common ground between all Christian Denominations including us, I view all churches as denominations including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I believe to know restored truths.
The differences are more to do with what we believe about Christ, not disaggreements about who He is.
We all believe Christ atoned for the sins of the world.
We all believe Christ is the creator (the trouble is defining all things).
We all believe He is the Great Mediator.
We all believe He is the exempler.
And more.
If you visualise Revelation 20 carefully you will realise "Hell" has two meanings.
1) it's a place of rest while awaiting the final judgement.
2) be casted into the fire for eternal torment.
See that faith and grace are not mentioned.
See that the spirits in hell and death were delivered out to stand before God for the final judgement.
Then see that they are judged according to their works and not faith or grace.
We will be judged according to our works recorded in The Book of Life.

One was representing a Christian Minister. The ceremony plainly stated that this Minister worked FOR SATAN...

Joseph Smith called all churches "abominable and corrupt", "Babylon the Great and the whore of the earth". Similar insults were made in your book of Mormon. Some of the costumes looked similar to some Catholic and Protestant ministers' robes but they never once stated they were Catholic or Protestant ministers, they were clothes to represent men who tell most of the truth, mixed with untruths and lies, which many ministers have done and still do today. Look at the NUMEROUS evangelical and Protestant ministers on UA-cam who promised, in God's name, prophesying that Donald Trump would win the presidency. So did God actually tell them anything? No way! They were lying through their teeth like many ministers I've hear throughout my life. To be fair, I've heard many Latter-day Saints lie through their teeth also, nobody has a corner on lying but to testify in God's name that Trump was a good, decent human being and that he would win the presidency? That's another level of lying and deception. And yes, the scriptures are clear on filthy lucre and what it is, no need to spin the truth there.
Regarding Missouri and the Saints, yes, 1 Missouri militia man was killed while shooting at and attempting to kill Latter-day Saints. The Saints defended themselves and their families, just like every other Saint of God has, throughout history. Don't get rosy on the Missouri terrorists as they deliberately stole the Saint's lands, tortured them, raped their women, burned their fields and homes and killed many of them, including their leader, Bishop Partridge AND the governor wrote and signed an extermination order on the Saints, the ONLY extermination order in the history of the United States, and forcibly removed the Saints from Missouri and ordered his militia to kill on sight, any Latter-day Saint. That's disgusting!!
Re. Mountain Meadows, again, you bent the truth. The Fancher-Baker wagon train entered Utah at the same time the U.S. Federal Gov't has issued a letter saying the Gov't was sending Federal troops to Utah to destroy the church and leaders. Brigham Young declared martial law and ordered everyone in the state and territory to be extremely cautious for Federal troops as they were meant to come murder Saints for their beliefs. The Arkansas wagon trail pulled in to Salt Lake City, were treated with the utmost respect, given water, food, shelter and moved on, 2 weeks later, towards Cedar City. Multiple witnesses clearly heard the Fancher-Baker party brag about killing Joseph Smith, even obtaining the gun that killed him and repeatedly threatened the Saints, saying they were planning to come back to Cedar City and kill Saints, after reaching California. Witnesses bore record that the Fancher-Baker party poisoned the main source of water to Cedar City, killing some of the Saint's cows. Witnesses testified of numerous threats from the Fancher-Baker party and many feared they were planning to turn around, come back to the city and kill people, sympathizing with the Federal Gov't. What a few Saints did, in return, was horribly wrong and against Brigham Young's orders, against their beliefs and against the law by murdering most in the Fancher-Baker party. Ironically, the Saints captured John D. Lee, held a trial and executed him for his wrongs and murders, which he was the instigator and primary murderer in the incident. Several other men who were also responsible, fled and were never seen of again. When Joseph and Hyrum Smith were brutally murdered in IL., a trial was held, the men who testified of murdering them were given new suits, pats on the back and sent free with NO penalty. Hmm, seems the Saints were the only ones who obeyed the laws and prosecuted for wrongs. I've read extensively about the Mountain Meadows massacre that was NOT a church murder, it was an isolated murder by several men who happen to be members of the church and were prosecuted for their actions and the Saints had just come from losing their lands, homes, temple, prophet and roughly 1,000 of their brother and sister Saints in death by people who hated them and tortured them, only for their beliefs.
And yes, Joseph Smith published writings instructing him not to join any other church as they were an abomination to God. Joseph published what Jesus Christ told him, not his own opinion as Joseph Smith was the only one, since John the Revelator, to have seen and spoken with Jesus. Likewise, Jesus' apostles wrote the words Jesus said that the Sadducees and Pharisees were hypocrites and fools. Truth is truth, you can't change it. Joseph also wrote and taught, numerous times, to fully respect others and their beliefs. Yes, we don't believe your teachings are true but we love and respect you. Likewise, God doesn't accept sin but he loves the sinner and loves us all and instructs us to do the same. Do you accept the teachings of Islam? But do you show respect and love towards Muslims? We do, always have and always will. We're perfectly fine with people saying they don't believe our beliefs but expect them to show respect, not bigotry and hate with thousands of videos, books, tracts, sermons and violence, as we've experienced numerous times. I've personally been fired from 2 jobs because my managers found out I was a Latter-day Saint and one manager yelled in my face, about an inch from my nose, that I was going to hell because of my beliefs. I quietly left, practicing my beliefs that Jesus actually taught. I had an evangelical Christian pull a baseball on me, threatening me and tried to run me over with his car. I and many, many of my fellow Latter-day Saints have faced numerous bigotry, hate, torture and violence and some have been killed, for their beliefs and most have come from fellow Christians.
Also, The Church of Jesus Christ has donated chapels and a lot of money to Baptist, Jewish and other faiths and have worked to forge partnerships and relationships with other faiths. I serve on 2 interfaith councils in my area, meeting regularly with many other faiths, working on service projects and interfaith meetings. I love my Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Baha'i and other faith friends and work constantly to eliminate bigotry and hate from all religions. None of us can help what was said in the past and none of us care much about our slight differences in beliefs, we look for commonalities and friendships.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I loved every bit of this. Please, let's look for what we have in common in our love for The Savior Jesus Christ.
I can appreciate wanting to find what we have in common. There is so much good found in the members of the lds church. I myself was a member until I was 43 years old. What I miss most is the community I had in the church. I'm now an evangelical Christian and I feel evangelicals could learn a lot about community from the lds church. The problem I have and the reason I left is because of the truth claims in the lds church. They just simply put are not true. I have real concerns with the top 15 men in the church and don't think they pass the biblical test of prophet's or apostles. It is for this reason I resigned my calling in the bishopric and later my membership in the church. It was a painful realization and I compare it to losing a loved one. There was mourning process but I find rest in Jesus.

Christianity is under attack. We need to develop our relationships and understanding on our similarities and discuss our differences. We are more alike than different. I feel there is a gathering of all true Christians who hear and discern the Good Shepard's voice regardless of what religion they are in. The rest of the differences in current belief or opinions don't matter as much as that.
The trouble is, neither group are hearing him and never have.

1. The official name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - not the Church of Latter-day Saints as referenced multiple times by the interviewer. This is an important distinction for hearers to understand as well as the fact that "Mormons" is only a nickname.
2. The primary reason why people convert to our faith is not because of kind acts performed on their behalf as implied (though service and kindness are always important), but rather because of a witness of the Holy Ghost. This is a fundamental truth emphasized by the LDS Church that we can know the truth of all things by the power of the Holy Ghost thru prayer.
3. It's true that our Church believes in continuing revelation from God which is evidence of a "living Church". While doctrines remain fixed, procedures and policies will change in accordance with the same pattern set by God whenever His church has existed on the earth.

This is one of the things I prefer about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, rather than talking about other faiths we study the scriptures so we can learn more about the Saviour and testify him to the world, be his witnesses as we promise each time we partake of the bread and water.

*2.* Mormons believe that Jesus suffered for our sins on the Cross, yes, but the bulk of it took place in Gethsemane the night before. Therefore, we place greater significance on His suffering in Gethsemane and His Resurrection than His death on the Cross. _(we focus on the brightest parts of the Atonement, not the darkest)_
*3.* Mormons *_absolutely_* believe in a _personal_ relationship with God. _(I think this is meant as a reference to our emphasis on ordinances, but an ordinance is simply the act of making a very personal covenant with God; we make promises to God, and He promises specific blessings in return as we keep our covenant)_

Type on UA-cam "Broken Things to Mend", "The First Great Commandment", you can probably guess that's to do with how we should love the Lord.
There's one called "The Lamb of God" from April 2019's General Conference, most of Elder. Holland's are all about who we believe the Saviour is and what he did for us.
The other church leaders concentrate more on spiritual protection and how to remain by Godly standards rather than worldly examples.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (The Mormons), and I have a strong testimony developed through prayer, study and meditation, of ongoing revelation, as that was a sticking point for me. I believe that the information coming from God can come based on what people can "handle" at the time. For example, with blacks getting the Priesthood, I believe God revealed it as the common thinking changed and would accept it. God is perfect and his love is perfect for everybody on this planet (we are ALL his sons and daughters, no matter our race). Unfortunately, humans have been conditioned to not love one another perfectly. I think missionary work has taught us that people are people world wide. Thus, the revelation came to let blacks receive the Priesthood when the imperfect people in the church could hear it, and importantly, accept it. The polygamy revelation is different, but I also came to an acceptable and very logical conclusion for myself through prayer, meditation and study (I am not built to accept blindly and the Church encourages people to pray, meditate and study to gain their own testimony). Please note that these are my opinions, and do not necessarily represent church doctrine.
Becky Howard I have studied the Scriptures for decades and the consistent definition of God’s holiness that I find there is a supreme, high, and perfect standard of character and behavior. Knowing what we know of how august, majestic, and holy God is, and how God delineates light and darkness, it sounds to me like you are saying that God’s standard is adjustable, by Him only of course, depending on what standard man is capable of reaching.
However, God calls us to be holy, as He is holy. Meaning God calls us to adapt ourselves to his standard of holiness. Therefore, the only way for our standard of holiness from God to be adjustable is for God’s own standard for himself to be adjustable. If that be true, it necessarily and by definition, destroys the idea that God can be perfect.
Listen, God’s standard of holiness is consistently shown to be this way. If it is right now, it has always been right. If it is wrong now, it has always been wrong. God is not, and never has been, a being of situational ethics.
God can be merciful to whomever He chooses; I have no say in that. But either He is holy and perfect, or He is not.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn't believe God is imperfect. Ask people for their sources so you can read everything in context, I always happen to find they omit text to deceive me.
Lots of people have studied the scriptures for decades and still have different interpretations and beliefs to one another. I believed through the Bible alone what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes because of my interpretation of the Bible alone.
As a couple of examples;
• I always believed there's somewhere in between heaven and hell, since everyone will be judged according to their works I've never believed it to be a 50/50 judgement.
• We can receive the power the Father gave Christ because of Revelation 2:24-26 where Christ says he will give us all the power the Father gave him.
Christ received the power to create, so if he gives the same power to us as the Father gave to him won't we be able to create?
• Eternity has no beginning, so when the scriptures say "the beginning" they are not referring to the start of time, so what happened before the beginning?
If we didn't exist God is not an eternal God, how could he be God without any spiritual children to be the God of?
How could Satan become Satan if he was already Satan?
Something definitely happened before the creation.
Your denial of the pre-existance make God cease to be an eternal God.
Just like people can't prove their interpretation right over yours, neither can you prove yours right over theirs.

Imperfect people decided to put that practice into place, and then God revealed when they were ready to hear and accept the truth and change that horrible practice. Guess what? After Christ's ministry people refused to hear the apostles and began killing them instead of persecuting then the Great Apostasy and God forsaking them just as he did to Israel was coming.
The ancient church became more and more corrupted causing political contentions in the Roman Empire leading to the council of Nicea, since God had forsaken them for they turned from Him God did not send any messages to Constantine, especially since he worshiped the sun. The various creeds are not from God.

You have denied and rejected God and chosen the wisdom and precepts of men while rejecting the Lord's right to use his power to raise prophets and continuous revelation, you've forsaken Him.

Faith in Christ + Repentance + Baptism for remission of sins + Holy Ghost + Endure to the end.
That's it.
The beginning is Genesis 1:1, all things on heaven and earth were created by Christ. It doesn't say anywhere the universe.
Eternity has no beginning so the beginning was during eternity, what happened before when during eternity the beginning was?
I accept the power of God from God himself while you place all your trust on a book and deny him his power.
Why don't you need to know the words inside those 16 books not included in the Bible, they're God's words.
That alone is plain evidence the Bible doesn't contain all God's words, and now you're going to deny that obvious truth as you reject the other obvious truths.
Christ is the truth, since you reject truth you're rejecting Christ.

I know what I know, Christ created the heavens and the earth and all that is here.
I know what I know, and you'll never succeed to choke the Word in me, all my knowledge is from the Bible and those books mentioned in the Bible not included.
As you reject all those books you reject the Word of God for those books contain more of God's Word.
All the prophecies in The Book of Mormon made by prophets in America are fulfilled, I know the Book of Mormon is true for I trust God him very self rather than a corrupted book first and God second.

Does the Lord need to repent when he is already perfect, what did God do wrong?

Do evil spirits come from God?
No, God does not have an evil spirit.

Since you believe the Bible is God and there's corrupted scriptures like God's got to repent, God has evil spirits etc. you believe God as a corrupted God.
This man has earned my respect. Thank you. However, it is: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints", NOT "The Church of Latter-Day Saints".
Right, it would be like going through an entire interview calling evangelicals 'gelies' or some such slang that wouldn't be flattering, not taking seriously the correct title "The Church of JESUS CHRIST . . . " the gospel of Jesus Christ as in his time, but designating the timeline of these days, "of Latter-day Saints (followers)". If one were to truncate, leaving off the latter would be more accurate. It's not about members; it's about Christ. I don't think most non-members mean offense, they just haven't thought/cared about it.
I love to see these pioneering efforts to help Christians understand one another. As time goes on, I think it's easy to see how this message is becoming increasingly important. There are so many forces which seek to tear down people of faith. It is vital that we build each other up and support one another with love. Thank you for this conversation!
