Hey! I appreciate the comment. Yup, it's ready to play out of the box. The Custom OS that I installed isn't necessary, but a "nice to have" with some quality of life improvements and a slight bump in performance.
I am fully convinced that one of the reasons why the Miyoo is successful is because of the name. It just sounds like a legit product not a random number code.
This is my first handheld emulator ever, and I love it. I had to muck around a ton more to get it doing what I wanted to, and I found out there's something called the "Tiny Best Set", which is basically a collection of good games and it's associated BIOS files and everything else, and it's designed to work specifically with OnionOS and GarlicOS. It was what finally got FFVII and FFVIII on my MM+.
i grew up in a poor household, i never had the majority of games i wanted to play. i got into emulation as a gift for my younger self. i might be too old to spend this much time playing games and tinkering with this stuff, but the child inside of me isn't and he deserves that joy. i'm finally going to play modnation on PSP 😂
I was the same way. I grew up in a poor household. I'm grateful for what my parents got me, but there were a ton of games that I missed out on in my childhood. This all has allowed me to experience games I would've missed out on entirely.
I bought the original mini (the small one) and fell in love with it so much that I bought extras just to give away. They are excellent gifts for friends and family. Just set it up in advance. I used MiniUI because it is very simple and barebones compared to OnionOS
Incredible video! I just so happened to order mine last night, I got the 128gb version since I don’t know how to mess with adding games etc so I’ll just enjoy what’s on there til I know how to mess with that stuff. It’ll be my first mini console since the GameBoy Advanced SP so I’m absolutely excited for it!
Thanks! It's a really nice little handheld. I'm hoping that Onion OS keeps getting more updates. The custom OS is a much better experience for me, personally. And it's easy to install.
@Baldly Rudy No problem! I absolutely love the OS, as well as how convenient it'll be to update, so that was a huge plus for me. Do you also by any chance download your own games and if so what's a reliable site you'd recommend?

Yuuuuup. People mentioned that in my other video and it's crazy how much better the D-Pad is on the Miyoo Mini Plus when compared to the RG35XX. It's a night and day difference.
@@baldlyrudyI think my unit was particularly bad, anything that registered diagonals was pretty much unplayable. But yeah, it's a widespread issue. Shame as I liked everything else about it.

Not a dumb question at all. To answer your question, it does. The two that I've purchased came with thousands of games. I'd definitely recommend going with a new microSD card though (SanDisk or Samsung are great). The cards that they ship with tend to fail easily and are pretty slow.
@nofinglimit you're going to have to transfer the old files to the new card. But everything should work just fine. If you're up for it, I'd also recommend installing Onion OS.

I kind of half agree with you. Once the Dual Shock was introduced, developers really started utilizing the analog sticks. I think that was in 1996 or 1997, IIRC.. Before that, the PlayStation was a D-Pad only console. There are PSOne games that can be perfectly played with just a D-Pad. That being said, I do prefer an analog stick whenever 3D is thrown into the mix of things. I use the Miyoo Mini Plus mainly for 8-Bit and 16-Bit gaming. I rarely push it past that and don't recommend it otherwise, but that's just me.

This is my first retro handheld and, while I played a lot of retro games growing up, it is my first time revisiting them like this. Really enjoying the experience.
lol that ramon comment was funny. build quality is worse on anbernic than miyoo? if i remember correct, there where dozenz of people dropping their miyoo mini from 20cm and the screen broke. also many reviewers stated the build quality on the rg35xx was better than miyoo mini/+. and since i own both rg35xx and og miyoo mini, i agree with the thesis, that miyoo mini just feels cheaper. i still love both since the mini is so much smaller, but its definitly less durable.
I got my white on on ebay for $196AUD with the 128gb memory card, carry case etc. Its coming in the mail tomorrow. Then i found the purple one on temu for $128 aud so i have ordered that for my brother for his birthday, his comes with 64gb sd card and a case also. Lucky i found his as ibe found purple is sold out everywhere. I dont mind spending more on mine. Ive also found out a few have bought a new brand name sd card and installed onion os on it and transferred the games from the cheap sd card over. As the sd card it comes with corrupts very easily.
It looks cool but I bet my 20 dollar psp does everything that can. Plus I installed a 4400 mah battery. So many hours of nostalgia. Great video. Maybe I'll find one on ebay in a few years cheap. 👍
it's not THAT hard to get. and the markup for amazon is usually worth it to get it in under 2-3 weeks, but i went through a few of them buying them on ali-express when one broke(because i dropped it) or i gave one away
The Plus is way easier to get than the original Mini. Getting it through Amazon is a much more convenient way of getting it, but that's why there's a markup, yeah?
@@baldlyrudy i really never had trouble with original minis. there were some times of scarcity, but i was soon able to order one, or find one available via amazon or a reasonably priced reseller. what was infuriating was being completely unable to buy replacement screens when i broke two of them, instead of just replacing the whole unit
If you don't like the transfer speeds, a good use of wifi is the http file server. It's also the only way to transfer files from a phone unless you have some wacky adapter
My son had the Rg35xx for 3 days and he dropped it and the screen broke. He didn't drop it from high, like couch height. It didn't land on the screen, but somehow the center of the screen was broken.
in Amazon at the description of the product where says "Brand". It most say miyoo? or its something that doesn't matter like in the vid at 1:38 ????? tnx
I always wonder why these devices always use such crappy specs compared to mobile phones. a second hand galaxy will perform better than this. Its really a shame as I would love to buy a normally priced decently specced device because of the physical buttons. But this aint it chief. Im not going to hawk a listing or paying 2x the price for an emulation device.
I was able to grab one off of Temu for a significantly cheaper price of $33, along with another item to be able to get the deep discount. I was so sad to sell my modded GBA plus my GameBoy series collection when I was going through tough financial times last year, but I'm happy to have the Miyoo Mini Plus to fill the void of not having my GBA and games around anymore.
Just received my miyoo, can confirm, it's the real deal! I did forget to mention that I did opt-out of the cheap memory card, hence the cheapest price. Ended up adding my own games myself and installed OnionOS while I was at it. Still got a ways to go with adding the CD-based titles, but I'm happy with the result.
Bought a miyo mini + a couple of weeks ago, the retro colour one. I love it updated it to onion 4.2.3 and it,s been great very stable and games work flawless
I got my miyoo mini plus a couple weeks back and it did come with a case that holds the device plus all the accessories. It’s not some cheap case either, it’s molded specifically for the unit.
Loving it although they have a basic issue, the card that comes with is not formatted to fat32, after first start miyo will stop reading, you will need to reformat and all the roms will be gone, you have down load and flash again, but love it
Idk. The Miyoo Mini Plus already feels small in my hands. Anything smaller would be rough to handle. If you've got small hands then I get it. Enjoy dude. 👍
Like I said If you have one you'll know and I'd you don't you don't. It's special for a reason, you need to physically use one all this cramped up bs, especially on Reddit is from non owners. Should of spent that extra £20 like I did from a 'scalper" y'all sh*t out 😂
My comment made it into a youtube video ! look mom I'm on youtube ! \o/ but yeah I also would prefer the Miyoo Mini Plus over the 35XX, even though I actually think both are great, the Mini Plus just wins out slightly in terms of features and comfort for me. I'm glad u like it !

Can you explain how to save games in your favorites? I've been trying to figure this out with no luck.
Can I play the old Pokémon games on this one? Like ruby red and sapphire. All those goodies??
Oh yeah. Definitely.
It looks really cool but I'm afraid it's going to be too unconfortable to play, my hands are really big
I really hate scalpers/resellers they really are the worst bro I wish most companies would stop the same person from buying more than one
Ooof. Yeah. I'm assuming there's scarcity for spare parts. It kind of makes repairing it disheartening.
Are there Pokemon games out of the box?
Yup
do Any of these have actual android web browser? or even 5g so i can just use one as my phone?
Nope. This runs a version of Linux and doesn't have an actual browser per say. There may be a way to hack it to do so, but I haven't looked into it.
Can the brand displaying in the corner be turned off? Thanks!
If you don't like the transfer speeds, a good use of wifi is the http file server. It's also the only way to transfer files from a phone unless you have some wacky adapter
Looking to invest in my first ever hand held. Looking to play games from the early days of 8bit all the way up to DS and PSP. Any recommendations?
Hey! Right now I'm messing with the RG405M and RG405V. Both are pretty great with PSP and DS. They're around $140-$160 IIRC.
My son had the Rg35xx for 3 days and he dropped it and the screen broke. He didn't drop it from high, like couch height. It didn't land on the screen, but somehow the center of the screen was broken.
Damn. Do you think a case would've helped? I'm asking because I'm afraid of my son doing the same thing.
Does it have California games? That's what I want to know
Who plays these stupid handhelds, i've never seen one in the wild ever. Meanwhile gamers are reviewing 50 per year...What the hell.
You alright there bud? You sound really unhappy.
@@baldlyrudy not even a little bit 😂I’m just pointing it out, seems like a fad 👎🏻
Ah. Cool. Whelp, c'est la vie.
Been playing Pokemon unbound on the Miyoo Mini + at home and at work. It's great. Its like a 3rd option for when I don't want to bring my Steam Deck
Yeah dude! It's a no brainer for playing older titles in a smaller form factor. I love mine. I might get one for my son.
The RG35XX is better
in Amazon at the description of the product where says "Brand". It most say miyoo? or its something that doesn't matter like in the vid at 1:38 ????? tnx
It's a third party reseller. To buy directly from Miyoo, you have to buy from their storefront on AliExpress.
Bought mine off Temu using a 50% coupon I found online for new users. Costed me $33 and is currently on its way
I always wonder why these devices always use such crappy specs compared to mobile phones. a second hand galaxy will perform better than this. Its really a shame as I would love to buy a normally priced decently specced device because of the physical buttons. But this aint it chief. Im not going to hawk a listing or paying 2x the price for an emulation device.
Enjoy the second hand Samsung Galaxy. 👍
so the real question is, can the emulators run the cheat codes like game genie and whatnot
Imagine having this device in the 80's 🙂
It would've been mind-blowing.
thps screen size is tiny
Just get from taobao
It’s been two weeks since I got the mini plus. With onion OS installed on a Samsung evo sd card, it’s heaven.
Heck yeah! Such a fantastic device.
Soo many GB copies, waiting on GBA form factor emulator.
$33 is a heck of a steal. Glad you were able to get things situated.
That's pretty awesome!
Bought a miyo mini + a couple of weeks ago, the retro colour one. I love it updated it to onion 4.2.3 and it,s been great very stable and games work flawless
Nice video!
Can you save in game for example PS1 or GB games?
Thanks! And yup.
didn't bother to show us how to get games? Like the most important thing for the less tech savvy
Yeeeeaaaahhh. No one on UA-cam will show you how or where to get those games. Go to Google.com and search for it.
The card that comes with it is terrible. I got a nice brand-name one and all data transfers got much faster.
Agreed! I always switch out the cards for better ones.
Why does every bald youtuber have to mention that they are bald. Is it a defence mechanism?
I don't know any other bald UA-camrs. And here I was thinking I was original. I guess originality is dead.
This is dope! I already have a steam deck with emulators, and a homebrew 3ds that i use. 😊 love playing old games
Hello,
Does the original Mario Bros from NES come installed on the stock os?
Yes, but it's the 25th anniversary.
I got my miyoo mini plus a couple weeks back and it did come with a case that holds the device plus all the accessories. It’s not some cheap case either, it’s molded specifically for the unit.
Did you get it from a third party seller? Mine didn't come with one.
Where did you buy?
You can now buy a grip for the miyoo mini plus
Does this have Gameboy Color Rumble?
Great review! I love my Miyoo Mini Plus :) I subscribed! Keep up the great content :D
Thank you! Much appreciated. Currently working on that comparison video.
Turn down background music. Distracting
👍
Loving it although they have a basic issue, the card that comes with is not formatted to fat32, after first start miyo will stop reading, you will need to reformat and all the roms will be gone, you have down load and flash again, but love it
Whoa. That didn't happen to mine. Where did you get yours?
@@baldlyrudy I ordered from official site from aliexpress , fairly common problem people sharin on the net, regarding reading issue.
The custom OS,. i.e.: OnionOS, already has wifi multiplay, retroachievements and OTA updates.
I'd probably just be playing Pokémon games. 😁
I don't blame you at all. 🙌
Is this real? I da play Pokémon sapphire?
Yes and yes.
@@baldlyrudy wow I can play any GBA game even yugioh wow
@UltimateD755 yup. Even Yu-Gi-Oh.
Original miyoo
Mini ftw. All the others meh 💩 if you have one you'll understand, and if you don't you never will.
Should of spent that extra £20 like I did from a 'scalper" y'all sh*t out 😂
r36s>all
7:08 uhhuhuh uhhuhuh you said "Unit"
🤣
My comment made it into a youtube video ! look mom I'm on youtube ! \o/ but yeah I also would prefer the Miyoo Mini Plus over the 35XX, even though I actually think both are great, the Mini Plus just wins out slightly in terms of features and comfort for me. I'm glad u like it !
Eyyyyyyyy! I agree. They're both awesome, but the comfort definitely makes the difference for me.
Sold.
many people often saying "must have!" in every videos when they trying to shill something, but i can say this is literally must have
I mean, you get that sweet OnionOS and you're set. 🤌
@@baldlyrudy yes😎
The question is: is this better than PSP which costs almost the same?
I sadly have never owned a PSP, but I do have the PS Vita. Shouldn't that be better automatically?
Picked one up off amazon for £68 last weekend
Nice! What are your thoughts on it?
Turn brightness down to get 7 hours
once u install onion os, do you lose all the roms that come with the console?
Technically, no. But I would still create a backup of them in case you run into any issues.
