Hey Rudy, I really wanted to thank you for this video. I was really having doubts about my Miyoo Mini Plus. But after watching your video it helped me to understand it more. I’m grateful for the way you broke everything down and gave your opinion on each handheld.
I own both devices. The onion OS team + wifi capabilities on the miyoo mini make it leaps and bounds better. HDMI on the 35XX is cool but I’ve tried it once. Miyoo with onion has multiplayer, trading, OTA updates, retro-achievements and you can add roms literally from your phone with FTP. Onion team even got DS games now working on the Miyoo. Really the only thing the 35XX has is a better build quality imho.
I'm amazed that no one has talked about the fact that the RG35XX can play N64 and DS at decent speeds. To me, that overwhelms the very little improvement that the Miyoo mini + offers.
I'm leaning towards the Miyoo Mini+. The fact it has wifi means updating the system will be less of a hassle. Also a better d-pad for platformers. The only drawback I feel like is the ergonomics where the RG35xx comes ontop being slightly larger. I don't imagine myself playing for more than a hour or two at a given time though so I could get used to the size of Miyoo Mini. As far as annoyances, the Miyoo Mini has that annoying green light LED at the top but the RG35xx has the rattling shoulder buttons. Pick your poison they both would equally annoy me.
I have bigger handhelds but the portability of the miyoo mini plus is just amazing, screen and depad is wonderful, onion os is easy to install, and its just beautiful, i also like the battery cover because if your battery is broken its so easy to replace, i also found a 4000mah battery that fits in the miyoo mini plus and a better speaker, the xx just looks so cheap, I only bought this primary for playing tactics games and rpg and it does its job. cute little device you can bring anywhere and you don't have to worry where you gonna put it if your finish playing, just shoot it in your pocket. ❤❤❤❤

I hoped I was able to help you come to that decision. There are so many pros and cons to both of these, and they're not that expensive for what you get.
I already bought the Miyoo Mini + for my kid (9 yo), and I couldn't be happier with my choice! 😂 Yes, I'm already using it more than he is (he's more into modern games). Oh well... His loss 😅
Thanks for your detailed review. It helped me make my decision. I would say the biggest reason that I decided to go with the Miyoo Mini Plus was due to the fact that it has Wi-Fi and Onion OS seems more refined than Garlic OS. Also, I was able to order it for $37 with taxes and shipping included from a tiktok shop. I can't even be mad if I don't like it for that price.
Yeah I mean at that price you could probably get both for under $100 and give the one you don’t like as much to someone else, that is a full out steal.
I see lots of people saying the Miyoo is superior. I find this funny how this works. I’ve never used a Miyoo personally but I can see why it’s the gold standard. I personally like my 35plus quite a bit. I even tend to play it more than my RP2S which is insane cause the 2S is objectively a better device. Personally I’m not really enticed to buy the miyoo. Go with which ever one you like. They’re all quite great in it’s own regard. There’s a certain x factor each of these devices have and they all hit a bit differently to each person.
Great review. I also have both of them in the original dmg color. The miyoo feels more comfortable in the hand and also is smaller. But I still prefer my psp go or psvita to play these retro games. Psvita bigger screen, Psp Go smaller and also can play psp and ps1 titles
@@baldlyrudy modding the vita is is very easy, you can watch video of Blaine Locklair for the discription. I have only tried psp gba snes ps1 on it and this goes flawlessly. I also have a handgrip with l2 and r2 buttons which makes it fit better in my hand. You look a bit like Mounir Toub. A Dutch cook 😂
Thanks for the video! Really helped me make a choice between the two consoles. I’m going with the MMP, really excited to dive into some pokemon nostalgia heh
The Miyoo Mini Plus, for sure. But the RG35XX Plus that just came out adds a lot of the features that pushed me over to the MM+. There just isn't a custom OS out there for the RG35XX Plus as good as Onion OS on the MM+, IMO.
I like the 35xx that I got, put garlic and a ton of games on it. Everything up to ps ran great. But honestly the biggest issue I had was that my hands were way too big for it. I ordered a retroid pocket a few months later and gave the 35xx to my son.
My wife got me the miyoo mini, no idea if it's a plus or not, but it's been fun. I had my tech buddy put a rom hack on it and it works flawlessly. My only complaint is the button feel and reaction. I love retro games and when the buttons are off, the game play suffers. Other than that, I love the thing. 👍 Nice review BTW 👌
Did you try changing the warmth and saturation of the screen in the Miyoo's settings? Don't remember if the stock firmware has that but OnionOS has many screen settings and if I recall correctly (I stopped playing the Miyoo for a while) I think I remember that I changed the Kelvin to be warmer but could be misremembering
Hmm is the screen similar to the Miyoo mini? I have the Miyoo mini and I guess I forgot how bad it looked. I justified it for myself by saying that the screen is still way better for Gameboy than actual Gameboys. I personally only played Gameboy on it currently because the screen is so small and the games are designed for small screens. Wish we could have a Miyoo mini plus OLED
I’ve been trying to get an impression on build quality for these 2 (since 11.11 might have some discounts) and it’s so inconsistent between channels. I winder if quality control is just crappy on both and it’s a lottery.
I saw an ad for a keyboy inlighte for $188 Australian dollars, with 20k pre installed games. Is the price difference between the above and the two consoles in the video due to the pre installed, likely pirated games? Or do the two in the video also come loaded with pre installed games?
Just got the RG35xx, and I'm a bit concerned a hard selling point for a lot of chatters is the WiFi capabilities of the mini... why do you need wifi? Beyond that, I def don't want a foreign manufactured emulator with wifi connecting to my home network! Just my 2cents. Safe Sailing.
Wifi allows for multiplayer on compatible games, cover scraping without a computer, makes system updates easy, etc etc. theres nothing bad with a foreign manufacturer connecting to your wifi. Apple products are made in another country but no one has an issue with them
I am pretty sure you can customize the screen colors, so if you know what you're doing, you can have the rg35xx color or more brighter than the stock colors.
Yup. You definitely can adjust things. Like I mentioned in the video, screens will have to compensate in one area to push another. Even getting two exact iPhones will have slightly different variations in color. They're barely noticeable, but it's there.
At around 6:50 the Miyoo screen is flickering. I understand it doesn't do that IRL, but I'm still curious, why does it flicker while the other screen does not? (ua-cam.com/video/2BmNUrxZqpc/v-deo.htmlsi=c7SIOTp0bt4wLcAJ&t=410)
Wow this is the first review I heard someone say the miiyoo felt sturdier. Like I've watched tons of videos and read reviews and everyone said the rg35xx feels way better and it doesn't feel like cheap plastic like the mini plus, the main grip tho has been the d pad, that's pretty universal opinion. I have the rg35xx on the way now but I almost wish I'd had gotten the plus....btw I got mine from tik tok using a coupon so it cost me 32 dollars altogether with shipping and everything. So I'm excited about to get it.
Expecting 100% sRGB Gamut on a handled less than $100 is a crime , however i liked your video , it's informative , i own both RG26S & Miyoo Mini Plus and i would choose Miyo Mini any day if i had to choose between both
It’s a give and take between both. I bought the 35XX on a whim. I’m not a huge gamer but it’ll be something that I can carry around. When you said that anew one with WiFi is coming out I felt falling into a wormhole yet again. You think you got something new and bang! lol
Some video shots were recorded at 120fps and slowed down to make the footage smoother. Also, I've heard horror stories for both handhelds. They're fragile, but not that fragile.
I've got a Steam Deck as well. Having the Steam Deck can be a great option as your go to for A LOT of things. These are cheap and can play almost anything from Atari all the way to PS1. The biggest pros are size, portability, price to performance, and battery life. They're ROMs, so it's similar to installing EmuDeck on the Steam Deck when it comes to game ownership.
@@baldlyrudy uh... that's the problem for me as well, this answer is great, but I'm still trying to get the games on the EmuDeck. Where I live piracy is legal, do I actually need to own the games that I'm playing or can I just pirate them? I googled that lots of times and I still couldn't find anything. Tysm for the helpful reply tho, it's much appreciated!
@@TheSpiritedFendron The act of Piracy is in itself the act of taking a property you haven’t paid for and playing it anyways. If you’re not going to get smacked around by the local authorities then you can download Emudeck, raise the black flag (wink wink), and then play your games on the steam deck through emudeck. Does that answer the question?
Have been tempted to get a Miyoo Mini Plus, despite having less power, since it seems to give the best overall experience and feel. OTOH, I have a raspberry pi just sitting here, and a full screen and controller are a lot more comfortable... so I've been setting that up instead.
Miyoo mini is very easy to mod compared to rg35xx and with the wifi you update the firmware easy. The RG95xx but with the system they emulate it barely matters unless you use a different OS and at best you can run some games above ps1 which is not really worth in IMHO.
Good video, could see a collab between you, Tech Dweeb, Joey's, and Retro game corp. Perhaps a discussion similar to this one about entry level retro handhelds.
Hey. I'm losing my mind. I have a Retroid Pocket 3+. I want a vertical form handheld. I play N64 sometimes, but not essential. What do I buy? RG35XX, Miyoo Mini + or R36s. PLEASE HELP
Out of the two, I would go with the Miyoo Mini. The OS is better. They both play the same games. The RG35XX is slightly more poetry, but only by a bit. You probably won't notice it unless you're going for PS One games.
I have owned the original miyoo mini since launch but jumped on the 35xx when it was on offer. I played it for one time and now it won’t charge! There is literally no recognition on the charging light. It is definitely not the cable as the same cable will charge the miyoo. I am now back to playing the miyoo and wondered why I bothered with the anbernic device!
Iv been seeing it and have been wanting it, this helps but I would like to know which of these 2 have a sailor moon game I saw someone have it and iv been wanting to play it for the longest time

I haven't modded the PS Vita yet. How does it perform with emulating games that aren't PSP/Vita games?
@@baldlyrudy modding the vita is is very easy, you can watch video of Blaine Locklair for the discription. I have only tried psp gba snes ps1 on it and this goes flawlessly. I also have a handgrip with l2 and r2 buttons which makes it fit better in my hand. You look a bit like Mounir Toub. A Dutch cook 😂
@Najj85 I'll take it. 🤣
Awsome Video Mate I'm going to get the Miyoo mini plus thanks for helping us out. Happy Holidays.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it! 🍻
Thanks for the ridiculously thorough review.
You're welcome.
This was definitely one of the best review videos I have EVER seen. I love his character and how he explains things. Definitely Subscribed.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
You said “go ahead and” about 300 times in this 30 minute video and it drove me absolutely insane.
Go ahead. There's 301. 🤣
I have both. Honestly couldn't pick a favourite, they're nigh identical. Just pick whichever is in stock/cheaper/faster delivery
The biggest differences are the HDMI, WiFi, and processor.
Lovely video, thank you
Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated. 🙌
Sehr gute Arbeit hier in dem Video, wirklich ein klasse Vergleich!
Dude this is just the video I was looking for!
Haha! Thought of you as I was publishing.
@@baldlyrudy let’s go! 🔥….I am for sure ordering the Miyoo Mini Plus on Amazon for my birthday in a month! Can’t wait!
Thanks for the video! Really helped me make a choice between the two consoles. I’m going with the MMP, really excited to dive into some pokemon nostalgia heh
Let's go! My son and I love it.
Thanks for the review. I just bought the Miyoo based on this video
Glad I could help. Happy gaming.
Great video and ordered the Miyoo Mini Plus right off the bat
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it!
so which one do you prefer ? Miyoo Mini Plus ?
The Miyoo Mini Plus, for sure. But the RG35XX Plus that just came out adds a lot of the features that pushed me over to the MM+. There just isn't a custom OS out there for the RG35XX Plus as good as Onion OS on the MM+, IMO.
Literally on the cusp of purchasing a RG35XX then i watch this video 😅 god damn it! Brilliant btw 👏
Thank you! I appreciate it. Sorry for making the decision tougher. 😅
I like the 35xx that I got, put garlic and a ton of games on it. Everything up to ps ran great. But honestly the biggest issue I had was that my hands were way too big for it. I ordered a retroid pocket a few months later and gave the 35xx to my son.
I'm considering picking up the RP4 Pro. Which one do you have?
I ended up going with the flip. The clamshell is perfect so I don't have worry about scratching the screen

Great video man. I watched it all. Bought myself a Retroid rp3+ and kinda want a mini version. Think I’ll go with the motion! Thx!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it. 🍻
Amazing in-depth, objective and unbiased. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment! Much appreciated! 🙌
This is becoming one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.
I'd say go with the Miyoo Mini Plus, but it all depends on what you want out of it. I love being able to have my Retro Acheivements sync up OTA.
and this is why I got both lol
The miyoo has wifi. The anbernic has HDMI. I think the miyoo is far better (I own it) the battery life is far better than the anbernic.
This is becoming the hardest decision I’ve made in so long. I want to but one for me and the kids and I want to make the right call
Honestly, you will be happy with either. But I get you haha. @@MasteredMirages
As you have more than one rg35xx, is the screen color/quality consistent between the units?
Bought the mini plus 2 days ago, SD card slot spring wont hold..
I'm assuming Amazon? If so, contact the seller and get it replaced.
Are you going to a review of the data frog sf2000? I have it and I love it, I Would like to see your take on the console
Funnily enough, it's literally sitting on my desk right now. Lol.
Baldy drinking game: Take a shot every time he says “go ahead and” 😅
Go ahead and get ready for the next vid. 🤣
@@baldlyrudy jokes aside, great videos. I’m just now sipping my toes in the ABC gaming world
@jon02129 thanks dude. There are a lot of things happening in the ABC gaming world. Too much to keep up with at times. 😅
Does the Miyoo automatically come preloaded with games no matter where you purchase?
For the most part yes. You just need to make sure that it comes with a card.
12:30 bro is speaking facts
🍻
@@baldlyrudy I’m 16 but 🧃 cheers 😂
Did you try changing the warmth and saturation of the screen in the Miyoo's settings? Don't remember if the stock firmware has that but OnionOS has many screen settings and if I recall correctly (I stopped playing the Miyoo for a while) I think I remember that I changed the Kelvin to be warmer but could be misremembering
I did and it does work, but it's similar to the Steam Deck LCD screen.
New one (rg35xx) coming out with hdmi, bt, wifi! Bigger battery and better sloped shoulder buttons!
Cannot freaking wait to get my hands on it!
Could you make a vid on how to add games on Anbernic RG35xx
I’ve been trying to get an impression on build quality for these 2 (since 11.11 might have some discounts) and it’s so inconsistent between channels. I winder if quality control is just crappy on both and it’s a lottery.
I saw an ad for a keyboy inlighte for $188 Australian dollars, with 20k pre installed games.
Is the price difference between the above and the two consoles in the video due to the pre installed, likely pirated games?
Or do the two in the video also come loaded with pre installed games?
Ordered a Miyoo Mini Plus and it just looks like the coolest thing ever and the main reason for me was that it can play DS games now
So freaking cool!!!! Congrats on the purchase!
@@baldlyrudy I hope your son has as much fun as me and my peers when we played these games
@itsfarhan0.024 he's been enjoying it, that's for sure. And experiencing games from my childhood too. 🙌
Hence the sponsor. 😉
Wifi allows for multiplayer on compatible games, cover scraping without a computer, makes system updates easy, etc etc. theres nothing bad with a foreign manufacturer connecting to your wifi. Apple products are made in another country but no one has an issue with them
Good review Rg35xx vs miyoo mini plus . Mini HDMI rg35xx Victory 😎
Thanks! 🙌
Can you recommend a hand held that goes super dim? To play next to someone sleeping
The Miyoo Mini can get pretty dim. So can the Miyoo A30.
Miyoo Mini + with onion OS is awesome :-) plus tiny best set
as of now, in my country RG35XX is half of MM+. so it is absolute steal, to pick RG35XX.
it around 35$ if converted to USD.
Expecting 100% sRGB Gamut on a handled less than $100 is a crime , however i liked your video , it's informative , i own both RG26S & Miyoo Mini Plus and i would choose Miyo Mini any day if i had to choose between both
Great video
Thanks!
Could you connect Bluetooth headset ? Or is that going to be possible for the next model?
No, so hopefully with the next iterations.
It’s a give and take between both. I bought the 35XX on a whim. I’m not a huge gamer but it’ll be something that I can carry around. When you said that anew one with WiFi is coming out I felt falling into a wormhole yet again. You think you got something new and bang! lol
Why dose it look like the screen flickers on video for the mini also what about durability which one has a more durable screen
Some video shots were recorded at 120fps and slowed down to make the footage smoother.
Also, I've heard horror stories for both handhelds. They're fragile, but not that fragile.
@@baldlyrudy thank you so much for there reply that 120fos thing makes sense I wonder why the other one didn’t do that
I have no idea. The naked eye won't spot it though.
I've got the Steam Deck and idk if getting one is worth it. How do you get the games? Do you have to own them?
I've got a Steam Deck as well. Having the Steam Deck can be a great option as your go to for A LOT of things. These are cheap and can play almost anything from Atari all the way to PS1. The biggest pros are size, portability, price to performance, and battery life. They're ROMs, so it's similar to installing EmuDeck on the Steam Deck when it comes to game ownership.
@@baldlyrudy a tactical answer indeed 👏
@@baldlyrudy uh... that's the problem for me as well, this answer is great, but I'm still trying to get the games on the EmuDeck. Where I live piracy is legal, do I actually need to own the games that I'm playing or can I just pirate them? I googled that lots of times and I still couldn't find anything. Tysm for the helpful reply tho, it's much appreciated!
@@N3cr0m4nc3r-5 one of the best I've gotten ^^
@@TheSpiritedFendron The act of Piracy is in itself the act of taking a property you haven’t paid for and playing it anyways. If you’re not going to get smacked around by the local authorities then you can download Emudeck, raise the black flag (wink wink), and then play your games on the steam deck through emudeck. Does that answer the question?
I see the miyoo mini plus has the easy Pokémon trader, does that same function work for battles?
Have been tempted to get a Miyoo Mini Plus, despite having less power, since it seems to give the best overall experience and feel. OTOH, I have a raspberry pi just sitting here, and a full screen and controller are a lot more comfortable... so I've been setting that up instead.
Miyoo mini is very easy to mod compared to rg35xx and with the wifi you update the firmware easy. The RG95xx but with the system they emulate it barely matters unless you use a different OS and at best you can run some games above ps1 which is not really worth in IMHO.
Great video! Can you do a comparison between the Powkiddy rbg20s and Miyoo mini plus? Im trying to find a retro handheld and those are my two options
Hey there! Thanks! I don't have a Powkiddy RBG20S, but I definitely plan on checking it out in the future.
Good video, could see a collab between you, Tech Dweeb, Joey's, and Retro game corp. Perhaps a discussion similar to this one about entry level retro handhelds.
Wow. That's a huge compliment. Thank you. 🤯
We'll see. I always feel like those guys are all years ahead of me in terms of everything. 😅
If the rg5xx had wifi, instead of hdmi out, it would be perfect, good review thou
The RG35XX Plus will add Wi-Fi!
@MegaFinalRound yeah just recently, now going to have to upgrade and it plays psp and dreamcast 😁
Can the miyoo trade Pokemon between red and blue and yellow or does it have to run both copies of the same exact game to trade between?
What one can play Pokémon best ?
What has the better internals ?
The better Internals go to the RG35XX. Both can play Pokemon games with ease.
Good review, but you didn't show any games being played. So we still don't have any idea how they perform.
Thanks! And fair point. What are some games that you would be interested in seeing? I'm currently working on my RG35XX Plus review.
I understand Tiny. However is there a larger or even extra large with a 4x3 ratio. Looking for a bigger screen
I just got the RG405V and it's fantastic. It's definitely bigger and might suit your needs. It also has a more powerful chipset and runs Android.
What’s the best horizontal handheld with a big screen and comfy under 100

Which one is better for playing Playstation 1 games?
RG35XX, but at this point, I'd recommend the RG35XXH or the RG35XX Plus.

Hey. I'm losing my mind. I have a Retroid Pocket 3+. I want a vertical form handheld. I play N64 sometimes, but not essential. What do I buy? RG35XX, Miyoo Mini + or R36s.
PLEASE HELP
Do both of these come with the games already installed in the cards or do i have to download them
Yup. They come with games, but you can also download and add more easily.
i have the rg35xx and it's great.
All i have to say to your intro is, "ya man i wanna do it.".
New to emulation, does this thing support pokemon bank and I can transfer up my pokemon I catch and want to transfer up to the switch through it?
The miyuu mini, I mean
What would you recommend for a novice looking for a handheld with the most retro games that can be bought ready to play?
Out of the two, I would go with the Miyoo Mini. The OS is better. They both play the same games. The RG35XX is slightly more poetry, but only by a bit. You probably won't notice it unless you're going for PS One games.
@Vod_Villainous LMAO. Alright. That made me chuckle. Gotta love autocorrect. 🤣
Thank god I got the transparent blue Miyoo Mini!!
Lucky.
Would I be able to add nintendo ds games to this device?
Am I able to just copy everything to a new Fat32 formatted SDcard and just plug it back in and play on a much better sdcard?
Pretty much. I copied the entire card to a new one and it worked fine.
I got 4, 3 for kids for Christmas for 53 bucks each of the mini+ put onion 4.3 os on each of them its great.
I just bought the Miyoo Mini V2. I'm excited to see what all the hype is about.
On the miyoo mini plus be careful with the menu button. It stuck and gave me a lot of problems.
Question can I trade Pokémon over WiFi with another device to evolve the Pokémon that only evolve through trading on either device?
Yes.

Nope. All of the OSs that I talked about have the ability to speed up games. It's great for old school RPGs.
