This song did pick me up at some of the lowest points in my life, but I never watched the video until this week. I kind of want to see it cut into the end of the road to make the entire movie just a background seen setting for the music video.
I got to meet Meatloaf at a convention earlier this year and he had signed autographs for hours and it was towards the end of the day and when I got to him, he still took the time to talk to me and my 14 year old daughter. He was such a gentleman and he genuinely loved talking to his fans. I felt like he was a family friend and I thanked him for producing some AMAZING music. He was a delight!
I spent my whole childhood growing up with the “bat out of hell 2” album on repeat, playing it to death in my Dads car on the old cassette player as I was only just discovering what real music even was, songs in which I grew to adore & still do 20+ years later, even spending hours & hours writing down the lyrics on a piece of paper as I didn’t have the internet back then - my first genuine hero… & someone i’ll love forever. RIP Meat - you made my whole upbringing undoubtedly a lot happier for me, & for that i’ll forever be eternally grateful.

When he learned it was due to a neck injury almost identical to what he endured lifelong pain from a similar due to a fall off a stage in Australia, he reached-out, send me gifts and even had his own physician guide me through some homeopathic treatment for the pain (It bought me 10+ years before a second neck fusion surgery.) He had no need or incentive to do that, to follow-up and provide care to a guy who was "just doing his job". For all I know there were 1,000 like me that he did this for. Most of all the biggest names in Rock were genuinely humble and caring people... some putting "gift lists" together after tours or shows... when Meat sent me personalized autograph gold-plated CDs, photos and follow-ups on checking on my health, it showed the true man of compassion caring for someone else living in chronic pain. "You're never alone / 'cause you can put on the phones / and let the drummer tell your heart what to do." Every time I hear this song, it gives me goosebumps. Jim Steinman's musical wizardry and Meat Loaf's magical voice were a once-in-a-lifetime combination, and I will always be grateful to have been alive for it.
There will be no one who will be able to write lyrics like Jim Steinman could for a long time. He could sing, too. But...No one can sing a Jim Steinman song like Meat Loaf can. A match made in heaven as far as music is concerned. Jim Steinman always had a Charisma and a charm that made interviews and everything really interesting. But Meat Loaf had a charisma that made interviews interesting as well. Somehow both had a totally different personalities and charisma, imo. But it worked...and boy did it work!!
Looks like a big budget video. Not all artists are given that much money to make videos...or the video producers don't have a clue how to make a good video. They should watch this to see how it's done properly.
Both "Meat" and Jim gone to soon. More talent than 100 years could hold. I was glad to have seen Meatloaf in concert a few years back. He joked about having another cardiac on stage. I totally get it, he put ALL of his heart into his music.
Alive, sane, functioning, and happy for 3-5 minutes at a time Once upon a time was a backbeat Once upon a time all the chords came to Life And the angels had guitars even before they had wings If you hold onto a chorus you can get through the night……..You're never alone cause you can put on the phones And let the drummer tell your heart what to do……..
You made my rock and roll dreams come true since I was 9 years old. That was when I first heard "I Would Do Anything For Love". Everyone else was listening to BSB and I was blasting "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights". He had some hard times and so many health issues but despite it all he really left his mark. I'm so happy I saw him in concert in 2016. His voice wasn't as strong any more but he was still iconic and he put on one helluva show. Rest easy Meat. ❤🦇

It is now *2021* I just turned 67 yrs old; this man's songs and his *voice* (omg! his voice!) are still my Rock and Roll Dreams coming through. Blessed be, Michael. 🎇
I think it is more of a psychopomp/spirit-guide thing. He's this magical elf-thing living in a magical realm of rock and roll, stepping across time and space, sometimes by using a magical motorcycle, to find the lost and broken and desperate. He rips open holes between worlds by exploding the musical connections (the jukeboxes) between them, and he guides the people who need help with the power of music, saving them from their own despair and confusion.
I played this for my late wife, shortly before she died, because she knew I was a troubled youth, who evolved. To watch her health fail was troubling to say the least, but this song helped us connect again before it was too late! :D
You can't run away forever But there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start You want to shut out the night You want to shut down the sun You want to shut away the pieces of a broken heart Think of how we'd lay down together We'd be listening to the radio so loud and so strong Every golden nugget coming like a gift of the gods Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs I treasure your love I never want to lose it You've been through the fires of hell And I know you've got the ashes to prove it I treasure your love I want to show you how to use it You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt And I know you've got the scars to prove it Remember everything that I told you And I'm telling you again that it's true When you're alone and afraid And you're completely amazed To find there's nothing anybody can do Keep on believing And you'll discover baby There's always something magic There's always something new And when you really, really need it the most That's when rock and roll dreams come through The beat is yours forever The beat is always true And when you really need it the most That's when rock and roll dreams come through for you Once upon a time was a backbeat Once upon a time all the chords came to life And the angels had guitars even before they had wings If you hold onto a chorus you can get through the night I treasure your love I never want to lose it And you've been through the fires of hell And I know you've got the ashes to prove it I treasure you love I want to show you how to use it You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt And I know you've got the scars to prove it Remember everything that I told you And I'm telling you again that it's true You're never alone cause you can put on the phones And let the drummer tell your heart what to do Keep on believing And you'll discover baby There's always something magic There's always something new And when you really, really need it the most That's when rock and roll dreams come through The beat is yours forever The beat is always true And when you really, really need it the most That's when rock and roll dreams come through for you (The beat is yours forever That's when rock and roll dreams come through) (The beat is yours forever That's when rock and roll dreams come through) (The beat is yours forever That's when rock and roll dreams come through) (The beat is yours forever That's when rock and roll dreams come through) (The beat is yours forever That's when rock and roll dreams come through) (The beat is yours forever That's when rock and roll dreams come through)

Sir, your letter touched my heart. You must have been a sweetheart for Meatloaf to have singled you out for such caring with love. Thank you both for your letter and being so good to the man. I hope your pain is manageable. Unfortunately I know how it is. PK
RIP. A giant leave us. Jim Steinman, composer who gave great songs to vocals in and out of rock. From Air Suply (Making Love Out of Nothing at Nothing at All), Bonnie Tyler (Total Eclipse to the Heart) to Celine Dion(t's all Coming Back to me Now). His summit work he achieved in the voice of the great bread of meat with the tragedy and drama that imprints in his particular voice on those lyrics and music so theatrical.
It took brass balls and mad passion for a big man like Meat to get up on stage and belt ‘em out like he did! He had great hits & even greater hidden gems! Underrated always and so many times dismissed…but a true legend to his many fans! RIP.
Rest in peace Meatloaf, you've made our rock and roll dreams come true.

I love my happy hardcore but I still have an odd notion for roxette, meatloaf, reo speedwwagon & Brian Adams
"You're never alone / 'cause you can put on the phones / and let the drummer tell your heart what to do."
Every time I hear this song, it gives me goosebumps. Jim Steinman's musical wizardry and Meat Loaf's magical voice were a once-in-a-lifetime combination, and I will always be grateful to have been alive for it.
Song gives hope. Well to me anyways 😂
That's one of my fave lines from the song!!
His music videos were like true productions with a theme! Kids, this is what a true storyteller looks like.
Rock opera
Michael Bay loves him some exploding motorcycles! :) And Jim writes very operatic songs.
He's just the singer lol
And JIM STEINMAN'S amazing music and arrangement
Looks like a big budget video. Not all artists are given that much money to make videos...or the video producers don't have a clue how to make a good video. They should watch this to see how it's done properly.
This song hits hard whenever you’re a child, parent or hitting rough path in your relationship
My favourite Meatloaf song such a powerful tune...
Rest in Peace Meatloaf a true Rock icon who will be much missed
I'd forgotten Angelina Jolie was in this video. Been many years since I watched it.
RIP Meatloaf. "The beat is yours forever". No matter how much talent someone has they cannot outrun time.
Things will never be the same with Meatloaf gone. We miss you mate. RIP
Rest in piece, Meat Loaf. You will never be forgotten. 🥺
I am 54 have listened to his music from childhood I will never stop what a legend and brilliant artist rip 🙏
72 and still rockin to Meat Loaf
Both "Meat" and Jim gone to soon. More talent than 100 years could hold. I was glad to have seen Meatloaf in concert a few years back. He joked about having another cardiac on stage. I totally get it, he put ALL of his heart into his music.
I just can't get over that line "someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs"...'
Man, this is music 😎🥺❤💥💫
RIP Meatloaf
Jim Steinman had a way with words. ❤️
Video is like Therapy for some of us.
❤
This song gives me chills. RIP Jim and Meat. Keep on writing in heaven.
With Judith Durham, Olivia Newton John, and Meat Loaf joining the Heavenly Choir this year, the angels will be truly rocking Heaven!!
ohh he will 🤟
@@SparkiGal Add Jim and Janis and Jimi, the OGs who are welcoming him!

Well said brother an absolute legend Jim and meatloaf unstoppable great music and great friends RIP JIM
👋
Alive, sane, functioning, and happy for 3-5 minutes at a time
Once upon a time was a backbeat
Once upon a time all the chords came to Life
And the angels had guitars even before they had wings
If you hold onto a chorus you can get through the night……..You're never alone cause you can put on the phones
And let the drummer tell your heart what to do……..
2024 still here!!
Of course 🤘🤘🤘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Me too, November 24.
Yes 🎉
Am here 2024
You made my rock and roll dreams come true since I was 9 years old.
Hi Megan I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this compliment. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….🌹🌹
It is now *2021* I just turned 67 yrs old; this man's songs and his *voice* (omg! his voice!) are still my Rock and Roll Dreams coming through. Blessed be, Michael. 🎇
Not far behind you and still belting out his stuff on vinyl, yep that shows my age.
Meatloaf as an avenging angel, vanquishing evil with exploding radios and jukeboxes. Gotta love that.
Right. I love how he rips the kid from the backseat of the car
I really like this explanation of the meaning of this video
No, he's a messenger. What is helping the people is MUSIC.
The song is essentially a hymn to the power of music.
@@Johnny96ri thank you for your explanation
I played this for my late wife, shortly before she died, because she knew I was a troubled youth, who evolved. To watch her health fail was troubling to say the least, but this song helped us connect again before it was too late! :D
RIP Meat Loaf. When you really really needed it the most that’s when Rock ‘n Roll Dreams come true!
"There is always something magic" when we listen to your songs...RIP ❤
❤️❤️
“HIS NAME WAS ROBERT PAULSON!”
Rip Meatloaf, your songs got me through the night too many times to ever count. 😿
And she s Angelina Jolie♥️♥️

"Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs." Indeed. RIP Meat Loaf, you will be missed.
Rest in Peace Jim Steinman, thank you for giving us the music to get us through the night.
You can't run away forever
But there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start
You want to shut out the night
You want to shut down the sun
You want to shut away the pieces of a broken heart
Think of how we'd lay down together
We'd be listening to the radio so loud and so strong
Every golden nugget coming like a gift of the gods
Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs
I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
You've been through the fires of hell
And I know you've got the ashes to prove it
I treasure your love
I want to show you how to use it
You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know you've got the scars to prove it
Remember everything that I told you
And I'm telling you again that it's true
When you're alone and afraid
And you're completely amazed
To find there's nothing anybody can do
Keep on believing
And you'll discover baby
There's always something magic
There's always something new
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through
The beat is yours forever
The beat is always true
And when you really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through for you

I'm with you brother, I'm in my 50's and this song comes a long way...what a great performer he was
Listening to Meat Loaf's songs just because he Has left this World, but He's not forgotten and will never be. RIP
There will never be another person whose voice carries more power, nor emits such pure heart and soul behind every lyric as Meat Loaf. He sang as though every song was his last, giving it his all in the name of rock opera. God bless you, Meat Loaf, you will forevermore leave us all awe inspired by your immense energy which gave way to a wonderous exhibition of raw and beautiful emotion that richly flowed through your music.
Rest in peace Meat Loaf Your songs, Your Energy, will always be a part of me Thankyou
Nobody else could sing Jim's song like meatloaf
One of the first music videos I really remember watching as a kid. It really hits different rewatching as an adult. RIP Meatloaf.
There's always something magic,
there's always something new...
The rock n' roll dreams continue,
WE MISS YOU! 🙏
Love from Sweden ❤
Every song of his, was my favorite. His voice was unique and powerful. R.I.P. Meat, you will definately be missed.
Rest in peace Meatloaf, you are loved and missed Terribly by all... BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
Meat Loaf vocals at it's best. Jim Steinman lyrics at it's best. Pure perfection. Keep on believing and rest in peace Jim
And now they're together, doing their magic again!
I’m 52 years old and feel nothing but hurt in my heart !! This song sends me back to 1986 with my high school sweetheart .
Don't be sad it's over, be happy that it happened ❤️
Me too. So many hours listening to this in make-out spots :)
Didn't this song come out in 1993? ;)
@@xlpraetorianlx Yes, I discovered this song and the whole album back in 1993, while living in the US for a while
@@xlpraetorianlx the original song came out in the early 80s, by Jim Steinman / Rory Dodd. This one is a cover. Perhaps that's it.
Rest in peace legend 😭
🌟27.09.1947-✝️20.01.2022
Thank You Meat Loaf
I’m 40 and this man brought me to this how I call it theatrical rock and roll! Off all the missed opportunities I’m sad I haven’t had a chance to see him live!
R.I.P Jim, without you things wouldn't have happened
RIP Meat Loaf. Great Singer. Rock and roll dreams come through, my absolutely favourite song.
RIP Meat Loaf. Your hits will live forever. Thanks for all! ❤
You blessed us when you gave us your songs. RIP legend
"Every golden nugget coming like a gift from the Gods, someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs" Thank you Meat (and Jim) for blessing us with hundreds of golden nuggets, we are truly blessed. Thanks Meat for the live concerts, great songs, amazing memories, and a beautiful voice. RIP Sir your legend and music will live forever
My children know all of the Bat Out Of Hell songs they were the ones who told me of his passing, we all listened to Meatloaf today even though we're miles apart.... Rest in peace sir... Rock on!!!!
Rest in peace Meat Loaf. You will continue to be a part of rock and roll history forever.
Definitely one of his best, extra bonus points for introducing people to Angelina Jolie before her movie career.
You could have Meatloaf sing off a road map and each town would sound like its own wonderful adventure.
Can we say he is the Ultimate God of Rock and Roll. I have been loving and listening to his music since I was 14 years old.
Well I’d put some people over him but he definitely near the top
Robert Plant. Meat Loaf not far below.
Not one song by meat loaf is bad, but this one of my favourites. Just love the talent of this guy, he is a legend.
RIP.
