Still Love Sammy, a true renaissance man. So happy to have been alive when entertainers had to have REAL talent. RIH Sammy Davis, Jr., you opened the door for so many Black entertainers to walk through.
Sammy was a class act all the way. A part of me is sad when I watch videos like this because old Hollywood (as my generation would know it) has a certain glamor and humor to it that todays stars can't even hold a candle to....
I just said the same thing them people should have been losing their minds Sammy Davis Jr. Are you fucking kidding me?? They should've been cheering and standing the entire time he was on there 😂😂😂
Sammy looked classy as always! I love the way "STARS" used to dress like stars!!! Unlike today, where they show up as if the just came from a BBQ wearing jeans and tennis shoes. He was truly an all around 'ENTERTAINER', that's why they called him "Mr. Entertainment'! RIP Sammy.
Sammy would have loved some of these cooking shows we have now. I've read he was an excellent cook. How can one man have so much talent? Aren't we blessed? Thanks for posting this show, Joe.
That's awesome! I love Sammy and Im 26 years old and also loved Johnny Carson! I used to watch The Tonight Show with my grandparents... Thanks for sharing your memories!
I was with Mr. D on his last "Tonight Show" appearance...with Johnny Carson.... He was such a gracious man and rehearsed in all red sweats....with Doc and the guys... An amazing memory !
as a kid I had to go to bed before 11pm. So, I didn't get to see this, never caught the OG airing. Thank you for posting this. Sammy is one of my Fav Black pioneers. Legendary entertainer!
Arsenio really had the best show back in his time...His line-up of guests reads like a "Who's Who" in the entertainment business, plus he had Bill Clinton as a guest, before he became president, to boot...Sammy was a fantastic interviewee and has the best stories, because he has experienced so much throughout his life and career...His guest appearance on The Cosby Show was very memorable...Had he not smoked, did drugs and drank as much as he did, he would've lived way past 65 years of age.
Cigarettes absolutely suck. My Dad just died July 8. His only and I mean only health problems were directly related to cigarettes and nothing else. End stage COPD is a terrible thing to see a loved one go through. He basically smothered to death. Go smoke some more cigarettes.
Trying to get the man I love to quit it has already caused mild damage, and I don't want it to get worse and lose him. Taking care of yourself is not just for you ,but the ones who love you as well.
One word to describe Sammy, LEGEND!!! Although i never saw him in person, I was very fortunate that I was old enough to witnessed the talent to one of the greatest entertainers of all time whenever he appeared on a television show. Thanks for the memories Sammy.
...and he 'checked out' almost a year, to the date of this show, later. I consider him a genius...one of entertainment's TRUE geniuses. And he was actually way ahead of his time, because he was ELITE in several skills (dance, singing, impressions, acting and hosting his own show). The public also seems to forget how much of an excellent tap dancer, he was. The World wont see another Sammy Davis Jr. But for him, we wouldnt have accepted Michael Jackson or someone like a Gregory Hines.
Sammy Davis Jr was to real of a person he was a entertainer but when he was off stage a real person. We so need a real movie of his life I mean a real blockbuster.
Sammy was so sweet and has such an amazing sense of humor. I love Candy Man a lot and I'm glad the crowd gave him his props. That's really nice of them.
With classic show biz folks, you never know who they really are, but judging on this appearance (performance) here, he seems like a real class act and a giving man.
KajunMs39 back in the day, he was on from like '88-'95 or '96.. CE back in 2014 but it didn't last long.. Idk why. Arsenio was the best talk show host in my opinion
Sammy is great, so honest about the stuff he did, he doesn't give all the usual celebrity hogwash about how " I had to do drugs, it was forced down our throats" etc etc. He tells the truth, he did it because he wanted to do it, to get high, none of this "I've got an addictive personality, and people around kept saying, try this try that" Just god damn honest truth, the man deserves respect and not for just being a great all round entertainer, but for admitting and accepting when he did stupid stuff it was his own fault, nobody elses. He mentions in another interview about not spending much time with his kids because he was more interested in being up on stage and entertaining fans and making money, he already had more than enough money age 30 to just sit back and live the rest of his life in luxury. He admitted he has a few regrets, but didn't try to put the blame on other's for his mistakes. Very rare for a celebrity to not blame agents, doctors, everyone around them when things go wrong, but to man up and say " it was my own fault, I chose to do it
For Those that Don't Know When Sammy Said "I Hope you're Not Upset Paul" He Of Course Refers to Iconic Actor Paul Newman Who Of Course has His Newman's Own Food Products. Dressing, Frozen Pizza and More. So For those who don't Know What He was Talking about in the Beginning of The Interview There You Go!!!

This generation missed out on all these folks like Sammy...this man went through a lot and in the end almost got homeless because he "forgot" to pay taxes.
Having lived in Indonesia for a time I got used to spicy food and when I came home I had to put Sambal Oelek ( Indon chilli sauce), on everything because western food was so bland. LOL. Love Sammy, always have, always will. He was the greatest. ❤❤❤❤❤
Was not called " The world's greatest entertainer " for nothing. He earned it. One of my biggest heroes❤
I had forgotten how distinctive his voice was until he started speaking in the interview. What an awesome talent all around!
Not only a superb entertainer he was an absolute gentleman...
OMG!! I LOVE him. A TRUE entertainer, unlike the majority of crap out there these days
Sammy NEVER missed a fund raiser for St Jude's hospital! Danny Thomas loved him for that dearly.:')♡

Sammy is a legend. I was born in 88, so shortly before he left this earth, but thats a very biased opinion. Many talented performers today too.
Sammy was one cool cat man.
He took a lot of bullshit coming up! God bless you Sammy! Thank you!
He was the greatest all around entertainer of all time, bar NONE: He could do EVERYTHING.

Pure class and sophistication. A true gentleman. Rest easy, sir.
He always presented himself well. With class.
Sammy Davis, James Brown, Miles Davis...men small in stature, who were giants with Ginormous talent. R.I.P fellows and thanks for the memories.
What, no standing ovation for this legend? That’s beyond messed up!
