Ed Norton is probably the most underappreciated underrated actors ever . He should have won numerous academy awards.
Totally
Completely agree!!
He's not underrated nor underappreciated.
Such a dumb ass take. He is by no metric underrated haha. Dude has been an A-lister for for nearly 30 years has been NOMINATED 3 times for Oscars won golden globe and SAG awards. Save for Daniel Day-Lewis nobody really wins two let alone MULTIPLE Oscar’s. Not being historically great is not an indictment on his talent or appreciation. T
He's on MY top list.
Not a single film with him disappointed, and that's a legacy! Brilliant guy, such a likeable personality.
What's farther? Chicago or by train???
he and richard was the best
The incredible hulk though.....
Ditto, always thoroughly enjoyed seeing him in anything. Brilliant - yes, dazzling, likeable - hell, yes!
Knives Out 2 is terrible
Ed Norton is on my best top ten actors ever.❤
I think he's a Method Actor.
fascinating
Whhhhhhhhat?
He's great in every role I've seen him. And we should recognize the uncanny timing of the bassist at 12:06 who landed Norton's joke perfectly.
Ed Norton is a brilliant actor. I love watching his films. His performances are the best ever. He is in a class of his own. ♥️
But not an impressionist, as advertised!
Edward is the most underrated actor ever. He deserves so many more awards than he ever got.
Underrated? His net worth is 380 million dollars and he makes 10 million dollars per movie ... And just look up his list of awards and nominations. It is quite impressive.
I gave him several awards to make up for the ones you owed him.
Always amusing to see people rip off the top comment by only slightly rewording it a year after the original was posted.... It's amazing what scrubs will do for absolutely meaningless likes. Maybe one day you'll actually have an original thought of your own... then again that's probably a longshot anyways.
That uNdErRaTeD actor literally got an Oscar nomination on his first film. LMFAO He's one of the most respected actors of all time.
The word underrated is one of the most self explanatory words in the English language and yet Gen Z couldn't use the word properly if their life depended on it.
I couldn't agree more.
Refreshing to listen to someone so articulate. He is simply on a different level intellectually than most other actors/celebrities.
Seems to be.
Well back then lot of them were similar actually. Because acting is a real art and profession. Nowadays they cast based on body etc, the movies themselves are not made where acting can shine at all. It is not in focus anymore...sadly
Sad to think of this guy as somehow intellectually superior in any way, shape or form. When the C students look like A+ you know you are in trouble.

One of the greatest performances of all time - Edward Norton in PRIMAL FEAR. Incredible.
Still cant believe that was his first acting gig!!
100%
Freaky ending
Absolutely.....NEVER bettered
I still get blown away by his performance in that. He's impressive in just about everything. Norton is at the acting top of his generation. Imho.
We were classmates/friends in high school. Great guy and very very bright. I don’t believe anyone saw at that time the level of success he eventually unleashed on the acting world. His role in American History X is uniquely one of the best performances I’ve seen.
Amen.
Wilde Lake?
Do you have any story that you can share?...
Are you close to him now?
Best movie…everyone should see it once
Primal Fear
Ed Norton in Primal Fear was mind blowing!!! Deserves the academy award for sure!
I thought so , too!
He was great in it.
Agreed! Anytime I think of him that's what I associate him with because I was the first time I ever saw him. I've not left a movie theater many times in my life being out astounded by the performance on screen but his did that to me
Absolutely mind blowing! Don't miss the end.
Edward Nortons role in Primal Fear is one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. Truly underrated. He’s class.
Completely fooled me with the ending of that one. He was excellent.
I agree
Truly legendary.
"There was no Arron"
I completely agree, it was amazing and I got the chills when he revealed to Richard Gere’s character his hoax…Just Wow!
At 83 years of age, I have had many favorite actors and actresses. But I'm here to tell you that. Edward Norton is my very, very favorite. He is excellent
He definitely got my vote when the very first time I've ever saw his work in Primal Fear I was awestruck for real
Then I watched him against Robert DiNiro in Score. Robert DiNiro has been my favorite actor for a long time
Ever since The Deer Hunter,
never heard of him even though I had seen The Godfather 1&2, that's also the movie that I fell for another actor and he was
The Incomparable Christopher Walken😅 another great actor. I admire d his work in The Suicide Kings but I felt so sorry for him when He had the hottest Feevah in the World and searched for the only cure for

Ed Norton is one of the most versatile actors working today. He deserves much more recognition than he gets. One of my favorites, hands down.
All the statements by fellow fans !! We are all in agreement and Im so happy to add my humble agreement he is a treasure to the entertainment industry.
Mr. Edward Norton is such a class act and a true gentleman. When you see Dave reading out all his movies and accomplishments, just look at Norton's reaction. He was feeling so proud and humble at the same time. He's always been one of my favorites.
How old is this Norton on Letterman Show? Letterman has been off TV for years. Your comment is listed at 12 hours ago.
Help. I'm confused on the dates.
@@obrewsky i'm too😅
No he's not. I live in Jersey City :) (1:33)
Yeah, I agree. I, like many, have watched Fight Club I just don't know how many times, my favorite of his. But he really gets to act alot as the lead also in American History X. Amazing movie, seen that too a number of times. I would recommend 25th Hour also. As far as being humble. He seems that he is. But when Dave was checking off some of his career highlights, I think Edward was thinking more along the lines of "have you seen any of my movies(?), and would you care to comment?!". But nope, nothing. Dave overall, seemed dismissive of Edward and at the very least just tolerant, and I think mocking when he said you're a regular Rich Little. If anyone didn't catch that, then you haven't watched enough of Letterman. I honestly thought Letterman was overall indifferent to edward. I. on the other hand, appreciate him a great deal, and have, since he started way back when..I think he's excellent.
@@obrewsky Dave Letterman and his business partner(s)[I'm assuming of the original show and agent(s)] recently started a UA-cam channel for the fans to bring the best episodes from the past for the fans, old and new. So just enjoy and keep it respectful. Thanks.

Yes, yes he is.
Super good looking?, you north American sure have very low standards!
I was told I look like Edward, ladies…😊

he should have been awarded an Oscar for American History X, another one for Fight Club and one for Red Dragon
Let’s not get carried away- red dragon was not Oscar worthy in any way lol
And The Illusionist.
@@tetonnate1993should be primal fear instead
Alyssa forget that these things are not awarded in a vacuum. I think it’s almost always a hard call between two or three of the nominated people and sometimes all of them.
yes, i saw American history, he was great and red dragon also
The Score was awesome. Brilliant cast.
Ed Norton is one of the best actors. He gets into character with such ease and believability. After I saw him in Primal Fear, I was sold. I flipped out at the end of the movie. He is so convincing. I try to watch all his movies because he is such a superb actor. He has such range, convincingly playing either a good guy or a bad guy. One of the greatest actors.

Love Edward Norton. Such a charismatic individual. So down to earth and humble. Truly is one of the best in Hollywood.
I miss you, David. Thanks for these fabulous memories.
Me too......Stephen Colbert is very good but there's only ONE David Letterman and he is so special!! :) I have a flashlight that says in big letters on it "I FLOAT!" & everytime I pick it up, I sing the "Will it float ~ will it float?" from that odd segment he did occasionally where they'd drop all sorts of crazy things in a huge round tub of water that was on the stage!!! Silly but fun....stuck in my brain!! ;)
🤧🥴
We need more films with Norton, great actor
Glass Onion: Knives out he is in. I know that's not what you meant, but it's good😉
He is phenomenal is all his movies - in the Keaton film Birdman he was amazing. He takes over a scene like a more flamboyant Sean Penn.
Great Actors talents being wasted past decade when Hollywood went all-in on Woke Agenda. Hollywood just makes Remakes Last 20 yrs now - 70s 80s 90s favorites get rebooted. But Mostly it’s animated CGI Comic book genre churn.
Where’d all the great writer’s go?
yes plz more Ed Norton movies.
Das ist unglaublich!!!
Edward Norton is one of my all time favourite actors. I just love his very special demeanour along with the film roles that he tends to fit so well into.
For a moment he actually transformed into Robert DeNiro. His facial expressions were spot on.
In mid 2024, that moment was like an AI trick! Unreal!
What a great guy...
He absolutely reeks of intelligence and awareness… One an incredibly gifted and switched on individual🙏
Ed Norton wins hearts! Much bigger than any Oscar/Academy award!
Wow. This is one of the greatest talk show interviews I’ve ever seen. Edward Norton is so quick and smart. Dave, of course, is a complete genius. He knows exactly when to lay back and exactly when to inch forward. This is gold star entertainment that was thrilling to watch.
Definitely one of the greatest interviews ever! I've always admired Edward Norton, as a performer and as a human.
Genius? Letterman? Ummmm... no.
Check out Michael Parkinson, guy was a genius interviewer.
Graham Norton's show is pretty good. Look him up.
@@howardsternisbatman I think he's a bit hit and miss. Gets some big stars on there, definetely funnier than the American late night guys but it's more informal/entertainment than say Parkinson.
Really like Ed Norton, and would watch his movies many times. He is one of most talented and brilliant actors.
@jess...I agree 100%

@@jamesbenchimol1537 deNiro doesn't have that much range, in my opinion.
Do not call him Ed! He hates it!
@@mariaroldan4200 , OK, thank you. nice to know. Actually when talking about his way of acting different characters in movies very well with friends, I do say Edward Norton. :)
Ed Norton himself is one of the greats. He's an exceptionally talented artist.
T-Ruth :0)
The man is also almost astonishingly normal.
Edward Norton is one of top ten best actors in the world. Unbelievably talented.
Ed Norton is one of my very top favorites. His acting skill is second to none of all times, in my very opinion. Some actors got great roles that made them stars but Ed Norton makes every of his role memorable. He brings his characters to another level and even in an ensemble cast his character outshines others.
This guy is constantly stuttering and stammering. Sign of a big liar
I will never understand how he did not receive an Academy Award for his performance in American X.
You must know Hollywood's corrupt.
I love Ed Norton acts, just give him any role , he can do it amazingly.
Edward Norton is one of my favourite actors of all times, he's so realistic in his acting roles and sympathic.
Ed Norton is my favorite actor. I love his voice. Very gifted man.
Ed Norton just reeked of self confidence in that interview. Both him and Gary Oldman are two of the biggest underrated actors in Hollywood.
I know right
Exactly what I was thinking. Casey Affleck has this charisma, also.
Both he and Gary^
Sorry, Norton isn't even in the same class with Oldman.
Agreed
I loved Edward Norton in The Painted Veil. A brilliant twisted love story. I instantly became a fan of his.
Everyone always talks about his big, showy roles like Primal Fear, American History X, and Fight Club. And deservedly so. He was brilliant in those.
But what convinced me that he was top 5 of his generation were the smaller roles, the subtler ones, like The People vs Larry Flynt, Kingdom of Heaven, and The Painted Veil.
The Painted Veil ........... fabulous. My favorite Norton.
He speaks in such a soft, gentle, relaxed, and yet masculine manner. Soo engaging and endearing.
It's not only amazingly weird to hear Dave say the titles "Fight Club" and "Keeping The Faith" back to back, it is also a testimony of Norton's versatile talents.
Fight club was amazing. Loved it!
Ed Norton is amazing in Primal Fear, with Richard Gere as his defense attorney. 🖖👽🤖😎🤓🧐
I think that's one of the best interviews I've seen in a long time and it looks like David really enjoyed it. He's an interviewer's dream because he puts the interviewer at ease and makes him laugh.
I honestly think Dave usually hogs the conversation and seems to have a huge ego. Not as much in this conversation, but based on most "interviews" of his I've seen. Interviews in quotes because it often seems less like an interview, and more like the Dave Letterman performance with some other guy or girl there.
@@emilejanse2672 Agree, never have been able to stand Letterman. Only watching this for Ed Norton even though it's from July 2001.
He is such an amazing actor! He made me laugh uncontrollably with his guest appearance at Modern Family, and he made me cry several times.
How such a great actor like Ed Norton can be underappreciated ? Any movie with him is great and he 's also , One of best in my opinion .
Edward Norton is the most underrated actor. And seems like a really decent bloke to boot. Primal Fear and American History X are two of the most brilliant movies I've seen, and it was his character in both that blew me away.
He Surely handled being a "Punk' Well....!!!

Mr. Norton gives fantastic interviews.
Really good story teller with some impersonations mixed in for some extra zest.
I’ve watched this so many times. And I’m a lawyer and he was fabulous in the People v. Larry Flint. And so was Woody Harrelson, another underrated actor.
He is one of the underrated actors of all time. Very talented!
They literally said he was Oscar nominated in his first film Primal Fear. I don't know how that's underrated.
Underrated actors of all time? Have you been living under a rock? For just about his entire, long, career I don't think I've heard his name mentioned without it being accompanied by heaps of praise for his acting talent.
