Bingo. I would argue that it really all comes down to "you over did it in whatever situation you were in." For a beginner having one full cigar might be over doing it. For someone that smokes all the time having 5 cigars on a hot day might be overdoing it. Just have to know your limits.

I’m glad you mentioned the teaspoon of sugar-there’s a medical/physiological reason for that, but the explanation is a bit lengthy. In short, nicotine toxicity depresses the amount of glucose in your bloodstream, and you’ll feel the same way a diabetic does when his blood sugar level drops too low. Even more effective is a teaspoon of honey, simply because it’s absorbed more quickly into the bloodstream. So, if you feel that nic hit coming on, reach for the honey. Also, tea, sweetened with honey is a good beverage to sip while you’re smoking your cigar because it feeds your bloodstream at a steady rate while you’re smoking, and can prevent that nic hit from ever occurring.

  • @dabbidaa1547
    @dabbidaa1547 4 роки тому +20

It may be helpful to mention that nicotine tolerance is something your body builds up over time (fairly quickly actually). That means, if you smoke rarely or are new to cigars (or pipe smoking also), you really wanna start out careful and work your way up, so to say, once you notice you can handle it.
Nicotine metabolizes fairly slowly, over hours, so if you overdose you just have to stop smoking, recover and try again until you can take it. Until that you can minimize the absorption of nicotine by puffing lightly, less frequently and also by blowing the smoke out faster.

Besides diet, accompanying beverage, and rate of puffing, also consider location when choosing your stick. I love large ring gauge, heavy, oily maduros when I am enjoying a stogie outdoors. However, once I became a regular at a favorite cigar bar I saw my preference shift to milder, lower-gauge smokes as the additional smoke circulating from other patrons, even with decent ventilation in the bar, began spiking my instances of nicotine sickness (after having gone years without a bout). I'm sure this seems obvious, but consider the surroundings as well when choosing the potency of the leaf you're about to enjoy.

When I was younger. I am thinking 12 years ago now. I smoked two premium cigars in about an hour and a half. That was the most unimaginable nausea in the world. Safe to say the borderline between this is great and nicotine OD is very thin. But will for sure happen if you do something as dumb as I did.

I’ve read that it’s a good idea to keep your favorite candy bar handy as not only the sugar helps, but the chocolate aftertaste can compliment the cigar. I’ve also read to keep a Dr. Pepper on hand for the same reason, sugar and flavors compliment the cigar.

I had this with a camacho machito Connecticut the other day... so even dimensions don't matter... simply smoked too fast and boom, a very unpleasant sensation. Luckily, my wife bought sugary stuff, and it helped reduce the effect a little bit.

I remember for my brother’s 30th birthday, I had been drinking heavily and our friend brought out a bag of cigars. Me not being versed in cigar-smoking back then, I smoked it as I would’ve a cigarette, taking puffs constantly. I had the absolute worst hangover of my life the next morning.

Sir, your video was spot on. I have been a cigar smoker for about 20 years and every time I made myself sick....I smoked 2-3 cigars back to back to back and always on an empty stomach. Again like you mentioned, just use some common sense and you will be good to go. Cigars Up!

Happened to me once while smoking one of my favorites, Camacho. Very good cigar but very strong. I made the mistake of having my usual cup of espresso with the Comacho. Was sick to my stomach & sweating bullets. Drank a Coke & cured it very quickly.

I was already used to Copenhagen when I started smoking cigars. I prefer the stronger cigars myself. I've never been sick from them , but probably would if I was running on an empty stomach. Still , nice tips !

Usually I always drink something while smoking an occasional cigar. Iced tea, coffee, an occasional coca cola, bourbon etc. It also helps you pace yourself while smoking one so that you dont smoke the cigar too quickly and get it very hot which makes for an unpleasant harsh smoke usually.

I sometimes get nauseous smoking a cigar down to the tiniest nub. I found just being outside, and breathing fresh air, ie away from any other smokers, campfires etc, helps, and almost always passes.

As an occasional stogie smoker, I have def experienced this a couple times. And it's always a result of enjoying the smoke too quickly. Sloooooow down. Cigars take time to make and cure, they deserve to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.

Hadn't had a cigar in 6 months, my first cigar back was a CAO Flathead 660. Empty stomach and I'm one of those constant puffers, within 20 minutes of finishing it I got the chills, cold sweats and a serious case of the whirlies, I laid down for about 5 minutes but it was to late, I proceeded to empty the contents of my stomach into my trash can. Wish I had these tips then.

I smoked a java latte by drew estates recently. Man that tasted AMAZING! Thing is, I smoked it to the very end, noticed it seemed pretty strong but kept puffing. Bad idea. I never smoke cigars, and it was a medium body. I was naseous and threw up twice. I have another I wanna try, but i'll try a milder cigar and only smoke half next time

This can happen to even a veteran cigar smoker depending on the cigar. What I’ve noticed in personal experiences when this has happened to me it always coincides with alcohol use. So if I’m already buzzed and slightly dizzy from drinking when the nicotine hits from the cigar it just amplifies it. Avoid stronger cigars after a night of heavy drinking

I smoke a couple cigars a month and I can't say that I ever got sick maybe a little dehydrated on a couple occasions and yeah you don't inhale cigars and it sounds gross but I usually spit after I take a puff and I suppose that helps eliminate some nicotine absorption. great video though.

I've never felt sick and I only smoke full strength, always down to the nub, even in the morning on empty I smoke Liga 9, La Flor, Don Pepin, etc, with no problem. But I'm good at not inhaling. I definitely feel the nicotine, but in a nice way.

Early on in my more frequent cigar consumption days, my brother in law gave a few to try and accidentally gave me a MUWAT... I don’t know the size name, small ring gauge, long as hell, and I almost died half way through. But I have also gotten nic sick on a Sancho Panza double maduro escudero, the longest at a 50-odd ring gauge if I recall, and I smoke them almost daily as they’re my favorite.

My dad took me and my brother flyfishing in Montana when I was 19 and my brother 17, and brought some high end Cuban cigars he has been gifted. I came right up to the edge having smoked the whole thing, but it was pretty glorious. My brother had casually finished up and gone inside as my dad and I enjoyed the last bit of sunlight and cigar... My brother was such a champ lol, we went inside and saw him on the floor trying to clean up, still sick as a dog. Happens to the best of us was the attitude. That and no need to mention this to mom haha 😂. Honestly one of my best memories

I just smoked a Montecristo 2 and am feeling a level of nausea similar to times I’ve been very wasted (on alcohol). Not a good feeling. Dizzy and almost feeling like passing out- gonna lay down for a bit. Not my first cigar, don’t know what I did wrong. Granted, I didn’t eat before for several hours. Had a similar feeling with a Partagas D4 a few weeks ago. I loved the Monte’s flavour so much, maybe it caused me to smoke too fast.

Funny, I only been nauseous after smoking a certain cigar. I’ve smoked a variety of sticks but for some weird reason, The King is Dead by Caldwell cigars gets me super nauseous. To the point where I leave my guests to go lay down and rest. I’ve bought a 5 pack of those and smoked 3 of them with the same results, I gave the last 2 away. I’ve commented on the review of that cigar and surprisingly got a response from Caldwell themselves. They recommended The Eastern Standard, a more milder stick with familiar flavors. I have yet to try it.

Might be 'cuz about a third of the Caldwell is corojo ligero tobacco, aka, the 'strongest' part. And >50 ring in even a mild cigar still delivers a lotta smoke.

This has legit only happened to me with a single cigar, the Olivia V. 3 different times, all three times it affected me. I just don't smoke them. And I typically smoke high strength and body cigars. Then again, I don't smoke often, so that could be the case as well.
