    I have an ammo box that I bought many years ago at JR Cigars. I have tons of cigars in that for like close to 10 years already. They are still good to smoke. The cellophane is still on them and have discolored over the years. I guess I've been fortunate enough to still have good cigars to smoke from time to time from my ammo box.

    I have them in like a desk top cigar box they don't have the cellophane on them though and I just seasoned my humidor I'm waiting but they've been out for a while about twelve cigars I'm keeping them in my bedroom so at room temp in a box like that should they stay good?

    Old video, but a tip is a lot of wine shops carry boveda packs. Total Wine has a cigar room you can get supplies and sticks from. Even local head shops/tobacco shops carry them as well.

      Thanks for watching. Unfortunately they will dry out pretty quick. What we do is put the tins in a ziplock bag with a Boveda pack to keep them fresh.

    I just got some cigarillos from Davidoff but I do not have a humidor nor do I have any of those humidifier packs.
    Is it safe to store the cigarillos for few days in just a lock & lock container in their original box?
    Or will the cigarillos go bad or will "beatles hatching" happen in few days of poor storing?
    And my room is pretty hot through out the day and pretty warm through out the night, which I'd assume is less than ideal for the cigarillos. I'm also in CA so it's pretty dry out here.
    I got these cigarillos unexpectedly as a gift and I really want to preserve them the best I can as I know that Davidoff is a premium cigar brand so the cigarillos are premium too.
    Thank you.

    I also think climate plays a huge factor, I live in South Florida and even with central ac on 24 / 7 the humidity is so high here it can hover around 60% average... so cigars can last much much longer. Now if your in a dry climate like say Nevada, Utah, Southern Cali... your cigars will dry out very fast. If you live in the northern states and have a basement, keep your cigars, humidor etc. In the basement, same as wine!

    I just bought some rare cigars amongst some more common ones. I was wondering about storage and aging them long term? Can I keep the rare one´s in a plastic bag or tupperware with a boveda pack for say 6 months or more? If not how should I store them so they wont turn dry, get mold on them or becomine otherwise bad? Grateful for any advice!

    • @CigarAdvisorMagazine
      @CigarAdvisorMagazine  3 роки тому +2

      You should be fine storing them long term in a Tupperware with a Boveda. The ratio is normally one Boveda for every 25 cigars. Let us know how it turns out.

      HOLLYWOOD GROYPER some tube cigars are sealed airtight so those would be good even outside of your humidor unless you leave it in direct sunlight or in a very hot or cold place.
      Other tube cigars aren’t airtight and the tube is basically for protection and not actual preservation. I still suggest taking your cigars out of there tubes and placing them in your humidor for acclimation though.

    I'm not a cigar smoker, but I used to be a cigarette smoker. I wanted to try cigars. I found a couple of recommendations for the Baccarat Rothschild because they are supposed to be light. So I bought a couple at $9 each. It was the worst smoking experience ever. It was disgusting. It was like someone dumped an ash tray into my mouth. Two days later and I can still taste it. There is no noticeable fungus on them. Is it me, or the cigar?
    Was it stale? What does a stale cigar taste like?

    I have a whineador thermoelectric and I recently inspected my collection that's in there. For some reason two of my sticks are extremely dry on the outside there's no cracks on them. I don't think it was like that when I bought them they are I believe 2012 limited-edition EP Carillos. I'm just wondering why those two seem to be very dry and yet all the other cigars seem to be okay. I hope it's not a warning sign but I have three hygrometers and I never let them get below 65 percent rh, so I don't understand, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

      @@CigarAdvisorMagazine I do have 1 more question. A friend of mine soaked a paper towel in tap water, placed a boveda pack in it wrapped it up and instantly placed it in a humidor by doing so will this cause harm to the humidor?
      Note: He removed it after a 4 hr. time span due to uncertainty even so has the humidor been.... tarnished?

    • @CigarAdvisorMagazine
      @CigarAdvisorMagazine  3 роки тому +1

      @@b.millsj2401 Thanks for your question. Was the Boveda dried out? Let us know if there was a reason he wrapped the paper towel around the Boveda. You definitely want to avoid using tap water, there are (in most cases) chemicals in the water that you don't to have in your humidor. An example would be if the water was treated with chlorine, you don't your cigars to absorb that chlorine aroma/smell. Leaving the paper towel in there for four hours probably wasn't long enough to do any harm. If he does that again, we recommend using distilled water for the paper towel. Hope that helps.

    I remember two old timers that used to do that in San Diego, they would bring in their own cigars, order food and drink from the bistro next door and sit there for most of the morning and afternoon. The owner charged them 5 dollars a stick I believe for bringing their own which is more than fair. I just always thought it was silly but to each their own.

    How long will these bovida packs last? Can i just put one bovida pack in a box like you had and stash my cigars away for like 5 years?

    • @CigarAdvisorMagazine
      @CigarAdvisorMagazine  8 років тому +2

      If the box is opened often, it will probably last about 2-3 months. You'll know its used up when the pack gets stiff and can no longer bend. If the humidor or container is very well sealed and rarely/never opened, it could last over a year. It won't make it 5 years though. It will have to be replaced at some point, but luckily they're only a couple of bucks. Just keep an eye on the humidity, and when it starts to drop or fluctuate more, it may mean its time for a new pack.

    Hydrogen peroxide.
    Brush your teeth with a gulp of captured H2O2 But not open mouth & sloppy-wise.
    Just keep the H2O2 captured while you brush your teeth & you'll not only have healthier Gums & teeth but they'll whiten over time.
    I've been using H2O2 for over a decade (No more Toothpaste for me) & I've had the best of Dental Exams, no issues at all, less build up & VOILA?? White WHITE Teeth.
    Try it.
    You'll thank me later for it.
