- Official Music video for Drop D.
Preorder/Stream: lnk.to/matteom...
I had so much fun shooting my first official video In Sicily! This magical location is called "finestra sul mare" and it is part of a series of artistic buildings and sculptures called "fiumara d'arte" (the pyramid you see at 03:17 is one of these buildings!) Drop D is one of the first original songs I wrote, I wanted to do a tribute to my first blues-rock influences, with an healthy amount of prog elements that I absorbed during my musical journey. A huge thank to my brothers Giuseppe Bruno on Drums and @StefanoIndia on Bass for their excellent work on this tune, but most importantly, for their precious friendship! Many thanks also to Antonio Presti for letting us shoot the video on these marvelous places, and of course @YamahaGuitarsOfficial for their constant support!

WTF....fingers?! The level of articulation, precision and nuance here...boys and girls, here is a MONSTER player for you.
Well, thank you for presenting him to us O_0
This young man is very impressive. He composes music that is really easy to listen to. So many virtuosos are incapable of doing that.
Have you heard of plini? Particularly handmade cities album. It's sonically similar to this song
I can hear satriani melodies too ❤
@jooohan Satriani is my personal favorite. I own all of his earlier albums. I love Paul Gilbert and Vai but I don’t find a ton of melody in Vai’s music. To me his playing is to eccentric and just weird. Saw Malmsteen back in the mid eighties with Alcatraz and was absolutely blown away but his solo offerings were boring and if you heard one you heard them all. I’m a huge fan of Lynch and Eddie but they’re pretty much of days gone by. Some of the jazz guys like Govan and Tosin just don’t do it for me. Matteo is a throw back and is so easy to listen to.
@jooohan to me, personally, Emmanuel is the GOAT. Just amazing and works unbelievably hard on his craft. His version of “Classical Gas” is phenomenal. Gilmour never gets mentioned on the “so called” greatest guitarists lists. His first solo effort was outstanding.
Agreed. He did nothing abrasive. I'm tired of sounds that hurt my ears. God Himself created beauty and harmony, not dissonance.
Time to support the new music with a USA tour!
The USA still supports good musicians?
I don't mean USA musicians, btw. I'm talking about USA in general. Not a good track record as of late.
I would buy tickets to see Matteo in person in a heartbeat! I know a lot of other musicians who would as well!
@@somjrgebn ...;)
@@somjrgebn LOL
@@LevelUpWellness I would too. Valeriy Stepanov would be another in fact they should do something together
Ignoring the absurdly high level of skill, this is actually a really nice song.
I agree, IMO that's the hard thing, when you're that skilled. You usually see huge displays of technique but never really appealing to the 'common' listener, in this case the track is surprisingly pleasant.
Ignoring the main idea you’re trying to convey with your comment, this is actually not a song but a composition.
This is the young generation virtuoso I’m waiting for.
Your use of space is brilliant and and your phrasing is beautiful! PLEASE do a USA tour! I have a son (23, guitarist), who also plays with his fingers. He is battling autoimmune disease and there are days that his hands hurt too much to play and he struggles physically and emotionally. Yesterday was one of those days. I visited him and let him hear your new music. I havent seen him smile that much for that long in months. You are such an inspiration to young musicians like my son (and older ones like myself). We hope to see you play here.
God bless you and your son 🤟🏾
Pezzone totale. 5 Minuti che sembrano 3, riffacchioni che fanno battere il piede pure ai morti e un botto di frasi cantabili. Il Mancuso discografico mi piace un sacco.
Matteo played this as an encore in Sacramento Feb 2. It was icing on the cake, what a show...
The best food, the best cars and now the best guitarist. Italy kicks ass 😁
Can't argue with any of that, your football team's not too shabby either and let's not forget the women 😆
Greetings from UK 👍
@@Killadey Oh I'm not italian haha I just happen to be a fan.
No kicking ass anymore. As Italian I sadly report you that all main cars and motorbike brands except Ferrari and Pagani are no longer Italian. Also the production was moved somewhere in Africa or North Europe. So for most of them only the name or the flag on the bodywork of the car remained Italian.
@@antonionovi1706 That's unfortunate. How about Alfa Romeo?
Purtroppo devo rivelare un segreto, Matteo è un esperimento genetico degli Annunaki.
The phrasing! The musicality! The multiple techniques! The passion! It's alive!!!
Ho appena preordinato il vinile, voglio supportare questi ragazzi, daje!!!

Wtf is wrong with you, you are not Matteos sister. Lying about it for likes and views? You should be ashamed of yourself.
He really knows how to build and tell story with his solos. He can shred like no other but it’s the arc of his playing which is really captivating.
You Got Me, Matteo! I’ve been listening to you for a while now.. just ordered the CD this song appears on! I ordered the CD to help support you, the artist.. Unlike those who do not!! Play On!!!

@@efrainmusic What?
@@jamesragsdale8202 mencionas que Rick no habla de Mateo ,
Te repito, tal vez su video ya estaba preparado . No es porque haga de menos a Mateo y tampoco es como que Mateo necesite que Rick le mencione
Finger picking taken to a new level? Damn 😮
This guy absolutely rips. I've never seen anyone play guitar like that. It's like the next version of EVH. Tone is killer and song is outstanding. This cat is a true virtuoso.
A modern version of EVH, but playing without a pick, using different languages and vocabulary of jazz and fusion, and playing every genre of music with a superior class.
Many envy people said : "very good, but him not compose his own music..."
Now the answer is arrived. He compose, and is able also to construct good music
@@consulentecomunicazionestr3072 Sure. All that too.
Yeah, but it's nerd rock. EVH was for the masses. Big difference.
@@sgraider2425 I think I was referring more to his picking style; that it is a novel technique in the same way Eddie's tapping was novel when he came onto the scene. No guitar-based rock is popular these days the way it was in the 70s and 80s, so that's not really a fair critique, in my opinion. It is nerd rock, though. Only guitar players really listen to this stuff. Ha!
@@TheRodge2112 I feel like Van Halen mostly qualifies as nerd rock, although Van Halen had a wide range of fans. There is a section who listen to it because of EVH and what he brought to the guitar.

John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss
Matteo Mancuso.... Hold my Pick!
Best instrumental rock I have heard in a long time..
I agree, except for one little detail... MM dont use picks, so to give him your pick is useless...🤣
😂
@lanzicavalli6453
I think that was the joke my friend.. ;)
FINALLY! Matteo Mancuso beyond the covers (all SO remarkable!) takes off towards the stars with his own compositions . The String Gods are smiling at you.
Falcon flight, Time to leave, Past language, Paesaggi siciliani (or Campagne siciliane), Silkroad, Polifemo, Steak-yo...these are all Matteo Mancuso originals already present on YT. He don't played only covers. Some of this songs will be included in his first album, The Journey, out in 21 july 2023
Polifemo : ua-cam.com/video/SE4q9Hy0Fjc/v-deo.html
@@consulentecomunicazionestr3072you are right: not only covers in the past for Matteo, but finally he decided now to make his first album (vinile and CD) with its own compositions (the ones you mentioned, Falcon Flight etc). Anyway, it does always worth to follow him. And the other musicians with him, of course. All top level. In Drop D most appreciated the bass solo, for example. Cheers
Yesterday I saw Matteo and his band playing in Cervignano del Friuli. They were AMAZING.
After the show he stayed to sign autographs and take pictures.
He Is a very open person as well as an extremely skilled musician.
Wow.. Dave Weckl, and Jeff Porcaro would have loved to have played on these tracks..💯💯💯👍👍👍
Bravissimi e canzone stupenda complimenti!! Nell'ambientazione il video👍💪💪👍
The next generation is here... And the good music is still alive... What a player I can see why Vai and Di Meola speak very good about this amazing guitarrist
The MOST important thing is MELODY!!! Matteo knows this. Neal Schon...Eric Johnson...Pat Metheny...Tom Scholz...Steve Lukather and now Matteo Mancuso.
Visto? MM non tradisce
Correct
Really? I mean yes he is an outstanding musician, incredible guitarist but his melodies have no direction, very scalic, noodling.
I concur about melody. It is what makes music so communicative. I don’t see any aptitude for melody from Matteo yet though, very unlike all your examples. He’s really young. He needs to be challenged by a cowriter.
@@ace8ball391. You are correct.
The progressive is back, finally ! I find it so refreshing to listen to it.
Brutha..your backing drummer and bass..were right there with you and in sync.
This year's

Matteo is much more than a guitar virtuoso who use incredible new techniques and sounds, he is an amazing musician and improvising performer. We are at the dawn of a new era : the Mancuso era. You are by the far my new favorite guitar player. Thank you for this video.🎸
I wanna leave the "likes" at "69" for a while. Off the hook does not begin to describe the music. Stay funky guys!
Cleanest guitar tone player Ive heard in awhile.
I only found out about this guy today and I already know he's gonna be on my top 5 favourite guitarists soon
He's probably the best alive right now.
The best? O wow…- those are heavy words…
Sergey Golovin, Paul Wardingham, …- Guthrie Govan? Or what about Fabrizio Leo of Italy…- Marco Sfogli… same country…- Heh…!??
Oh come on…- the best…? -
Now we have an impossible situation here…- no one could be the best…(period) - or maybe yeah, someone could be for a day or two…- than the next day … there is always another amazing kid… around the block …
Just saying…- but yeah, he is really amazing…’
I'm with ya.
@@viociarnau1670I just found out about this kid from an article I was reading. The article had quotes from some of the greatest guitarists saying that this kid is years ahead of how anyone else is playing. That doesn't necessarily mean that he is the greatest, but I would argue it does mean he is already great
Oh yeah, definitely he’s ahead of a lot of us, musicians…
Remarkable player
This is a different level - your OWN level. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Whenever I think every sound that can be made by a guitar has been made, someone like you comes along and breaks all the rules to stunning effect. As a guitarist, I'm so proud of what you have done and so grateful to you for breaking the mold, doing your own thing, and introducing us to something different.
Have u heard of plini.s first record. Wow. That's pretty damn good as well . Sorta sounds like this. I thought plini was going to be the next big thing. He has worked with vai. Plini. But. Vai is impressed with this guy right now . But check out plini

It’s so great to see Mateo playing a Yamaha! They never seem to get the recognition that they deserve!
For years I turned my nose up to Yamaha guitars until I actually played one. Now I own several. I love Yamaha.
@@traviswhite6204 I think it was 1980. I was in junior High School. I saved some money from chores, my grandmother gave me the rest and I bought a Yamaha FG-335 from a small music shop in town. I had a setup done and the action lowered in the early 90s by a great luthier. Today, 43 years later, this guitar sounds absolutely amazing. I am still in love with it! BTW, right now I’m playing Seasons by Chris Cornell in an open F5 tuning and it sounds awesome 🤘
Yep. I've played Fender, Gretsch, and Gibson. Yamaha is up there with many others 👍
Love his tendencies to write in “acts”.

I'm speechless while listening to this song... it's a perfect mix of originality and traditions, I can feel both your style and the ones of virtuosos like Eric Johnson flowing together as particles of the same blood. Simply amazing. And as a Sicilian I'm so proud to see excellent young men like you to stand from the crowd and get all the success they deserve.

Matteo is my favorite guitarist here and now (not including stuff composed and performed by Holdsworth/Lane/... in the past), his improvisations and technique/emulations completely on point. I've now listened to this tune 4-5 times and I still hear a lot of Guthrie Govan (first album).
I'm sure he'll be able to step away/forward from all those influences and reach new and unique heights very soon. It's almost like AI, at first you can witness the learning process but then it finally hits that spot where all bets are off, the spaceship travelling to places truly unknown.
Since I saw him shred Donna Lee crazy fast a few years ago, I've watched most Matteo vids... He really is beyond incredible, that technique gives him amazing freedom! 🔥👏💯

Have you never heard of polyphia? I was directed to this video from an article laden with superlatives about the technique and musicality. I'm going to need to see more before I put this among the top tier
@@CnPCarruthers I know Poliphia and I know Tim Henson and his incredible technique. Their music is amazing and enjoyable, but after a while, unfortunately, it bores me. Here, there's a revolutionary technique, an unheard-of sound clarity, and incredibly refined music.
For me, Polyphia are like robots. Only technique, no emotions.

What does that mean? That music is a lot more unique and evokes more of an emotional response from me than this does. This song sounds like one of the prerecorded backing tracks on my first synthesizer. Polyphia's music IS engineered to the most minute detail, but that's the point.
