Finally here’s the third official music video! This time we chose the opening album track called “Silkroad”. It is a song that I wrote years ago while I was listening a lot of whammy bar masters like Scott Henderson and Jeff Beck, so my go to guitar was a Yamaha Pacifica this time! It is also a tune dedicated to my beautiful home town Palermo, I tried to portray the beauty of his Arab influences with this middle eastern vibe, while maintaining my rock soul, and that’s how “Silkroad” was born! A huge thank to the Superintendency for Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Palermo for letting us shoot the video at the beautiful Castello Della Zisa, and also to the Archeological Park of Solunto and Iato for letting us into the Arab baths of Cefalà Diana! Thank you @YamahaGuitarsOfficial for your constant support, and thank you @mascotlabelgroup for everything!!!

I am 63 years of age, I have heard and seen them all. I mean all great guitarists of the last 50 Years. Son, you are by far the best. What you are doing is beyond genius.
Idk I think Buckethead is the exception
Said by an old man, I believe that ❤
Nope. U r totally missing out but u r 63
I live in 5 km to Matteo's liveplace. His father is a legend, he plays many years for Sanremo orchestra, when the music was Better with no simp, autotune etc....from a legend is born another legend, and I'm very happy for this. In the states Matteo has got his own deserves, while in his homecountry the 90% of the people use to listen shit like neomelodical singers or new Little singer from music industry. I always dream taking guitar lessons from Vincenzo Mancuso, but his son Is reinventing the instrument. Proud of him!
This kid is simply astounding. It's not just his chops, it's his entire approach to music. Phrasing, lines, voicing, the feel. Brilliant. He is the real deal.
he knows what music is, unlike >99% of the others. he also has incredible skills on his instrument. music is a language of emotions in the first place and a solo tells a story without words, but with the connected emotions of the story, whatever the story is. music induces emotion in the listener if it is a good piece of music. and it has nothing to do with fkng speed. Most of the Malmsteen stuff for example induces a story and visuals in my inner eye of 10 thousands cockroaches running around looking for food. it's also music, but,...no.
i can play better than him and i dont have to hit my vibrato every few seconds to "make it sound cool" like hes doing in all his songs.
@@Runescape. So upload your videos buddy
No, you don't! 😅@@Runescape.
Jeff Beck is looking down from heaven being proud of Matteo.
Add elements of early Satriani, and the fluidity of Holdsworth. This kid is certainly the brightest star burning on the horizon.
Different league to Jeff Beck
@@colinpadley8938 J.B. is so overrated I have no words. I don't say he is a bad player who am I to judge that, but there are plenty of other players who are not even mentioned when it comes to great/best players meanwhile Beck is praised like a God. he has a unique style, but, that's it for me. I think he was there at the right time with the right thing. nowadays if Beck were a new player, he wouldn't even stand a chance to get into the business.
My thoughts exactly.
@@keep_walking_on_grass what he's doing here reminded me straightaway of parts of 'Guitar Shop' by jeff Beck. other parts sound like someone doing scale runs ..
Guthrie X Matteo is what we need.
The Aristocratics featuring Matteo would be sick!
YES! Or Mancuso x Gambale
Now you're talking
Oo hell yeah!
Matteo & Kotzen
- battle of the fingerpickers 😅
Words no longer suffice when describing this young man's musicianship.
The best "new" guitarist out there. Matteo has shades of Eric Johnson, Scott Henderson, Allan Holdsworth, all without a pick ala Jeff Beck. His textures are as varied as Steve Morse or Guthrie Govan. His sudden bursts of speed with legato and tapping is what really sets him apart. I never got into fusion yet this guy uncomplicates it and makes it melodic and easier to follow. At :45 and 4:16 its like a whole new song with tempo and time shifts similar to Joe Satriani and Dream Theater. Truly jaw dropping as somehow it totally works cohesively.
and the best part is that all of these influences mix up smoothly and consistently. It doesn't feel like pure randomness or a tornado of ideas just put together for the sake of it. It sounds natural, concise, and brilliant.
@@fabioragone22 Strange that you one doesnt mention the most obvious of his influences.... Stanley Clarke.
I'm surprised it works too, but I like it
@@heru777mediaI don’t hear the Stanley Clarke influence. His approach to tapping is totally different than Clarke’s.
The DNA of Jeff Beck! I LOVE THIS GUY ! Peace from Detroit MI.
He's truly as good as everyone says.
🎯 !!!
Inarguably true.
Holdsworth too!
Totally agree
Matteo is my new favourite guitar hero 😍
He is also gay. You two can hook up in grinder
This has such an amazing Jeff Beck/Scott Henderson vibe. Just wow. Incredible.
Thank you for mentioning Jeff...
I was a hard core devotee from 99 on.
Even though i enjoyed all his previous work, i actually drove many miles to see him play with numerous excellent drummers.
Much heart is destroyed from his untimely illness and death.
Also, was lucky to roadie for Scott Henderson and Tribal Tech after a gig.
Super super duper player, interesting toe technique on a floor volume knob. 🎸
Vai also
@@malsawmtluangahmar6040 Holdsworth too !!!
He's So Good he'll go Right under the Majority of Radar, just as Jeff and Scott and Alan have.
I heard a bit of Al Di Meola as well.
There are so many great guitarists in the world that it really takes something extra to stand out. I think Matteo has an incredible understanding of incorporating all his techniques to achieve something spectacular beyond the rest. To be a great guitarist you too have to become a great musician and i think Matteo proves the ability to express himself in ways that gives meaning to his music.
when Steve Vai comments on how amazing your playing is, us mere mortals snap to attention. He couldn't have been more correct! You've got a fan for life here, I'm blown away by your talent!
Matteo is original cutting new sounds and new ground, taking off in his generation standing on the shoulders of the great ones like Jeff Beck and Steve Howe. He is a virtuoso in the truest sense.
Thanks for remembering great Steve Howe. He surely listen to him, but nobody never say this
I once got to shake the hand of Steve Howe, his body gaurd/assistant was not happy with that move.
Supposedly he never shakes hands, too many strong men have damaging grips. 💪
This lad is the first one I've come across who makes me feel similar levels of mind blown amazement that Jason Becker did when I first saw his playing.
Glad to see Jason still getting recognition for his contributions to the culture
Don't forget Buckethead he's come out with some amazing pikes the last year
A guitarist's guitarist. For me, what defines an extraordinary musician is their ability to tell a story, or make you feel like you're on an exciting journey or adventure. Mateo does all this and more with such ease and panache. What can I say? This is too good. Bravo maestro.
Anyone can play fast and melodic but this guy told us a wonderful story using his guitar.
I sort of agree, except that definitely not just ANYONE (or just any guitarist that wants to) can play fast or play melodic or both. Those things do mean different things to diff players, but both of those things, to me, are something that VERY few players can do well. But anyways I think we probly agree overall. Just a matter of terminology probly. Like for me I always say that "note dynamics" are the most important thing in lead guitar. Without it, melodic playing just sounds lifeless to me and then in fast playing, (I dont like the term but it'll have to do ATM) , "Shredding" sounds horribly robotic and boring without some note dynamics to accent and steer the series of notes in a musical way. And omg does this dude GET IT! He is absolutely amazing and I love it.
Playing fast is not easy, playing super fast with perfect melody and tempo is miraculous. Matteo doesn't miss a beat. And he makes real good compositions too, his music tells a story.
@@paulmakinson1965 exactly, I had a similar take. Idk what makes ppl say ridiculous things like that. Being humble is one thing, but pretending that anyone can just pick up a guitar and play fast is almost too stupid to warrant a serious response. Nothing about it was easy and nothing about playing slow is easy either. Playing well requires dedication. I'm quite sick of players downplaying this stuff as if they know something that nobody else knows. The only thing they know is how to sound like a pretentious jhoke.
Agree he is a total package, he has a such a tasteful ear everything seem right an correct.
@@jasonjones7461 Playing well requires dedication and effort - playing regularly, every day, for a good amount of time. If you want to improve and advance you have to push yourself and expand your knowledge base. It comes a little easier for some people. Some have to wok harder at it than others. But almost anyone can do it if they really want it and stick with it. I had to put in 4 hours a day as a teen, many decades ago, to play as well as my friends. Now I play to treat my arthritis. Sloppy and slow isn't so bad if it's all you've got left, lol.
Finally the first album. The beginning of a great career for the one who lays the foundations for new criteria for jazz guitar
Folks, the hype is real with this guy.
Yeah, this guy is no joke. He's up there with Holdsworth, Lane, Beck and so on.
Exquisite from start to finish. Matteo is in a class of his own.
Great masterpiece and wonderful places of Sicily!
I like the Jeff Beck feel with the tremolo bar. This guy is a master musician and makes beautiful music, blending jazz, rock and classical into his own unique expression. The scenery and production of the videos is perfect for the music.
On est déjà dans une légende avec Matteo ! Cet ami a réinventé l'instrument, parcequ'au bout de 80 ou 90 ans, on commençait à avoir fait le tour. 🥰
Yes! I was hoping we’d get a video for Silkroad. The tune is a masterpiece in nuance, note choice, and dynamics. Can’t wait!
Matteo consolidating himself as a guitar powerhouse... astonishing! And every video he drops is also a work of art. Lit!
Absolutely MAGNIFICENT! Matteo rocks, but let’s make sure to give his band credit. They are all superb musicians and performers!
@@Username-Matteo_Mancuso Aloha Matteo! Absolutely love you and your bands music. You wrote lucky winner, and to contact by Telegram. Is this for real? So many scams nowadays…
Only a superb musician would have the nerve to show up and play.
A mix between Satriani, Jeff Beck and Jason Becker 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
Yes, beginning right out of the Joe Satriani songbook
When a 5 1/2 minute piece feels like a 2 minute piece, you know it's good.
Oh my....
After reading all the comments and listening a few more times....wow...
Definitely a tribute to Jeff Beck...
And the ending sounds like King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra together with Jeff Beck playing on top.
This tune is bringing out big emotions...
Wow... love the magic fingers on the odd time signature...
Very moving, would love to see someone dance to that 👍
"LLM" 🎶
This guy has it all, awesome! who wouldn't be influenced by Beck, great technique and style.
Also shades of Chris Poland's work in Ohm, and very reminiscent of Shawn Lane, e.g. on Michael Shrieve's album "Two Doors".
The whammy work literally controls my spine .. can't help but sway to it .. Unreal.. So happy I stumbled upon this great band ❤
You know it man
I just got his debut cd.
It came from Germany & took 6 weeks but worth it.
His acoustic work really shines on Cd.
His technique and song writing are great and shine in Hi Fi
Best debut instrumental guitar cd since Via’s Passion &Warfare IMHO 👍🏻
So many commentors mentioning Matteo sounding like this or that influence, but there is no need to diminish his accomplishments. Matteo is the purest guitar player I've ever seen or heard. Whereas most of these influences are great in their own style with maybe an occasional foray into another genre, the really incredible thing about Matteo is that he can legitimately perform so many varied musical genres...including jazz fusion, Bebop jazz, rock, blues, country, flamenco (spanish style) and classical. There are examples of all these on UA-cam. Plus he covers and puts his own twist on tunes by Holdsworth, Carlton, Metheny, Pastorius, Weather Report and more. Who else has shown this amount of ability?
After doing these covers, we now finally find out he possesses his own very advanced compositional skills. So many interesting chord changes and done so beautifully.
One additional thought...what Matteo does with his novel technique is so much more advanced than your typical pick player, because each of his fingers acts as a pick and he has to coordinate all those compared to just a single pick to think about. It's truly phenomenal. Plus he looks so comfortable playing and makes it look effortless when it's obviously not.
Great comment, at last! Lots of envy people and incompetents here
"Who else has shown this amount of ability?"
Guthrie Govan: though I've not heard him on nylon classical, he's even better than Matteo on electric guitar. This sounds like it could have come off GG's _Erotic Cakes_, which is high praise.
@@skierpage My comment "Who else has shown this amount of ability?" could have been more complete. I should have included "for so many genres at the highest levels". When Matteo plays any genre each sounds like that is his particular forte. Check out his videos, or better yet buy The Journey and hear his range.
Although there is a lot of merit for Guthrie Govan being a great electric guitarist, after you comment I watched videos of him playing acoustic with a pick and some attempts at jazz standards like Donna Lee, and those sounded like a rock guitarist visiting other styles.
But this is not a contest, and music should never be. Matteo is exceptional not only for his advanced musicianship, but also that he has developed his own approach to playing the guitar...one which lends itself to clean articulation, efficiency of movement, avoids the difficulty of string skipping with a pick, has the notes of the chords literally always at his fingertips, etc). I would hope that upcoming guitarists adopt was Matteo has brought, and unlock more of their potential.
@@paulmahfinger9101
As a lifelong eclectic guitar player of 60 years I agree.
Matteo and Marcin are all together in another league. Another level. More will be inspired by their technique and the future of guitar will evolve.
Best I’ve ever seen or heard.
Actually it's called 'Finger Picking '. All Flaminco and Classical Guitarists do that. All Bass Players not using a pick also...here is a great closeup view of what he does on Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. You can see him rest this thumb on his neck pickup and use his first 2 fingers straight exactly as Bass players do. ua-cam.com/video/2m3i1JGF3tM/v-deo.htmlsi=NrDTJi3HgKvAT8x1
Also check out people playing The Chapman Stick...also interesting. 👍😁
What's left to say? MM is one of the finest musicians of all time and the guys he chooses to play with are at the same level. Finally, the promise of McLaughlin, Beck, Holdsworth, Vai, Zappa and Eddie have come to full flower in the person of Matteo Mancuso. There is NOTHING this guy can't play, and it transcends technique. He IS music. Bravo!
Well-put. I'd have to include Eric Johnson in the mix, Mancuso reminds sooo much of him in the way he approaches composition and tone.
Not forgetting of course Al Dimeola who has played with Matteo. Al certainly pushed Matteo's formidable technique to the limit.
And don't forget about Kurt Cobain, Neil Young, and Jerry Garcia!
Satriani
@@howdoyousoundSì infatti lui è stato appassionato, lo ha affermato nelle varie interviste che ha fatto in giro
First time coming across this guy, and I'm blown away. He plays with so much feeling and class
I’m new to Matteo Mancuso and this is the first time I’ve listened to his music. Easily one of my new favorites. I hear a lot of Steve Vai in his playing but that right hand is something else.
Pezzo che sale e scende in modo incredibile, uno spettacolo 🎸🎶💥
The legacy of guitar player continues 👍
Youngest guitarist who is able to give me chills.
That nylon string section at the end was really beautiful stuff Matteo.
Your melodic scale phrasing is absolutely mind blowing.
Incredible music.
Le sonorità della tua musica e la capacità nell'eseguirla sono degne della bellezza sconfinata della tua terra, la Sicilia!
Not only is he beautiful to look at but he’s a stunning player. I’m a big Jeff beck fan and this gave me similar chills down my spine
You are not too bad to look at yourself 😅👍🏻
@@threeamigos842 thank you ❤️
This dropped my jaw to the floor (as a classical guitarist but also keen on jazz, heavy and world music)!!! You got a new fan.
The influence of Al Di Meola's polyrhythms is clear but, as usual, the final product is 100% Matteo Mancuso style 💯❤🔥❤
lots of Jeff Beck influences in tone and composition
Hearing shades of Satch too!
And Nigel of Spinal Tap
Thank you for mentioning Jeff Beck,
my heart is broken from his death.
Even though he lived a full life at 78 and created such great diverse music. The local radio station that is "where the music matters" community station in a major city here in the United States doesn't play any hidden gems from Jeff.
Even though they play Stones and Springspleen over and over, yes of course they play great independent music from many artists and styles but for some reason they slag Jeff's incredible interpretation of beautiful music... WTF 🤔🔥🎸🎶
yep I also hear tons of Beck and Satch too, but also someone nobody else has mentioned - Eric Johnson, the Ah Via Musicom era, I think it may be due to a very similar tone with that album and Eric is well-known for string skipping licks so maybe that's part of it too.
"Spirit" of jeff beck..mystique intuition ! Omg 😂❤
If a human heart could play a guitar by itself it would be Matteo.Such a joy to behold..thank you
Hello Matteo, just wanted to say how much I am impressed with your playing and your band is magnificent! As a lifelong musician I can appreciate how much time you spent developing your skills and your style. I absolutely love how you combine so many kinds of music in your playing. It's like a breath of fresh air. While I'm impressed with all your technical ability which is stunning, I am more impressed with your compositional skill and your sense of melody. I am looking forward to following your career in the years to come. I wish you all the best in your musical endeavors!
What a beautiful and heartfelt message John.
I agree.
this young lad - is otherworldly!!!...an absolute brilliant composition !!!....the cosmos is his future! ...congrats MM !!!!
Hands down this kid is the best guitarist on the planet. It’s not just his technique. It’s his sound. His ability. He’s the future of guitar. And he’s so young and can’t imagine how much better he could get. It’s awesome to see him and be able to look back on this. He’ll be talked about for years upon years, future generations.
I do like him alot but still has alot of room to grow..His solos are manly scales..Needs more passion..
Let the music play him, not the other way around..
Not even close, but he's definitely talented AF.
Guthrie Govan!
Age, doesn't always bring more skill. Sometimes the more you learn, it can fill your brain with techniques that can throw your sound or originality. Contrary to this, unravelling ones self through playing, is all apart of the music tapestry. Exploring cracks n crevices unchartered. Obviously knowledge is powerful, it's the way you apply that knowledge that makes a great player. You can learn all the techniques of the world, but if you don't know how to flow between techniques, coax emotion from listeners, then it's just a bunch of ideas filling space and time. I suppose in itself, the craft of guitar playing is meant to be experimental, choreless, enjoyed by both player, and playette. Matteo, is one of those players that knows how to meld them all. I had to specify that with time, comes more responsibility of what to do with that newly acquired knowledge, but doesn't always guarantee being better.
He dooes try to get into the Satriani universe...maybe he must take some one on one lessons from the Master
Hello Mateo. My name is Alejandro and I live in Spain. I play guitar and I love Music. A bassist friend who lives in Holland told me about you. We were talking about the technique of bassists and the new generation of musicians, and this colleague told me: "listen to Matteo Mancuso." I watched your videos today and I am surprised by your technique; the scales, the use of Tapping, the arpeggios, not using a pick but your fingers... your technique is impressive!🎼🎸👏
I didn't know you and I was amazed!😯👏
You made me remember Weather Report by Al Dimeola and Stanley Clark 🎸👍
A greeting from Spain!
PS: And I see that you were born on November 22, just like me!😄 That is the day of Saint Cecilia, the Patroness of Music and Musicians 👏👍🎼
Ceaselessly amazing - a generational talent. Impeccable touch, tone and note choice all the time and musically surprising at every turn. I hadn't heard this one before. Sublime work with the tremolo. I need a new vocabulary to describe this kind of talent and musicality. Glad to be around to witness and hear this genius.
Superflous comment: i am left speechless by Matteo's capabilities. He's so talented, there is nothing he couldn't succeed at playing.
This guitar performance is pure magic! 🎸🔥 Each note is like a journey, and I'm completely captivated
From a boomer guitarist...it's refreshing to find such a humble contemporary guitarist with tone, melody and soul in their playing. It's not often younger guitarist will give me inspiration to play and learn new tricks. Well done from a new fan!!!

Excellent composition, melodic throughout, great feel, tasteful soloing and development... and a pro video. Some of the finest fusion today IMO.
Everything about Matteo is authentic and down to earth while aspiring the the outer reaches of the universe. His tone, feel, arrangement and command of the instrument is nothing less than breathtaking. It is also refreshing to see someone so young, so clear and utterly without pretense. I wish you health, happiness, well-being and a life of fullness.
Great song. Shades of EJ, Jeff Beck, and Robben Ford, but mostly Matteo Mancuso. Excellent. 🎸
Thank you for once again mentioning Jeff, i will never recover from his untimely illness.
My heart is pulverized 🚧
glad you hear Eric Johnson in this, I do as well - you're the only one I've seen mention EJ. Its certainly not derivative, this is Matteo forming his own wonderfully unique voice.
Perfetto! Congratulations. Great music and top performance! The whole album is amazing and your playing Matteo is unreal!
This Guy is a humble beast... I'm 45, I've been listening to instrumetal stuff since 1991, from Tony McAlpine and Vinnie Moore to Al Di Meola and Manolo Sanlucar, from Toto Cutugno to Tosin Abasi, from Django to Yngwie... Etc. But this "Sicilian Guy from the Next Door" is not a promise of the future, but a true statement of the present.... I'm a low-average player myself, but I'm glad to be able to admire his evolution throught the years, not just using a totally unique and uncommon technique, but translating his senso-motoric knowledge to a melodical language and natural flow which is not separated from the antropic feelings that music will rresonate forever... Unbelievable Talent
Honestly, the beginning sounds like a mix of Steve vi and Eric Johnson, then breaks into something totally different. His sweeps and licks are like butter. Very unique style my friend!
This has soooo much beauty going on that is straight inspired by Scott Henderson/Tribal Tech, Brett Garsett, Allan Holdsworth, Al DiMeola, Vai, Shawn Lane and so much. Beautiful!!!
1:56 - 2:10 is the jazziest sequence I've ever heard. That was exquisitely beautiful in a very unique way. The ending especially wraps up the whole piece in such a impactful, haunting fashion. Brilliantly written track.
This style reminds me Chris Poland's jazz fusion albums, especially for this album: ua-cam.com/video/i2h51F84kAk/v-deo.htmlsi=XEjsX8qSP797Otfm
