      I always think that way....technique is important to reach your creative goals. That's hard work!! But....creativity is the thing!!! To be able create tonality landscapes in your head is where it ALL begins🙏😊and he has both👍😊

      100% you can spend years and figure out the technique, but the music and melody sense, thats talent.

      @@decomicssehablaasi Absolutely. One thing I'd like to add is that I love every time a thing like this happens. Us (the elderly :D) can always come up with names like "a prodigy", "wunderkind" or whatnot, which is NOT something I want to do here. I've always been inspired by people like this, and this is exactly that - young man Mancuso over here is only a couple of steps away from genius and every time I see that happen I just naturally get the urge to do more, play or compose - doesn't matter. I just do more...
      Yeah, that joke about burning the guitars was just a 'trendy' dad joke. :D
      I hope he continues his path and reaches greatness in the way only he imagined - we're merely the audience here, and listening closely. :)

      His technique is awesome but compared to Guthrie govan, Al Dimeola, Steve Via, there is not much new. The music on the other hand is pretty special and thats the important thing after all.

      Not really unique hahaha. Maybe for the electric guitarists. But asa classical guitarist myself, I mean he is just adapting it to the electric guitar. I actually do the same cuz I have no idea how to play with a pick hahah. But yeah he's good. It's more his musicality, his harmonies. And yeah, for an electric guitar player it's quite unusual

    As an italian myself of the same age of Matteo I can totally feel he's really a down to earth guy, can totally imagine him having a beer with friends or celebrating the national team winning euros or whatever. It's very nice cause I'm used to see always foreigner musicians and they vibe an "aura" to me, as they are great but unreachable, while Matteo is at the same time an amazing unbelievable player and just a guy from Sicily.

    Yep, this is total insanity...almost inhuman. 99.9% of us could only listen and admire, realize we likely would not be able to replicate this. That being said, there is so, so much music in the world that is as good in its own unique way. The guitar solo on Taxman, Hotel California...Eliot Easton's tasty and exciting solos on The Cars tunes, the solo on Rock Around the Clock. Blackmore's Highway Star solo on the live Made In Japan album. The list is endless of great solos over the past 75 years, let's appreciate what he's done, it's spectacular. So is Comfortably Numb.

    • @urbanizeedDzn
      @urbanizeedDzn 11 місяців тому

      @davidebasile9422 picado technique is similar in the alternation of index and middle but way more difficult, as every note must be played "apoyando" which is actually what makes it very challenging and gives it the picado tone. also, picados are played in a spanish guitar, which is way more difficult and tone-sensible than an electric guitar with distortion, which makes it way easier to play with pull-ofs and pull-ons

    • @davidebasile9422
      @davidebasile9422 11 місяців тому

      @@urbanizeedDzn Yes, as I said, it is similar but there are also differences you mentioned. I just noted that not many mention picado technique when talking about how Matteo plays. Most rather compare it with bass technique. Anyway, in the interview with Rick Beato, Matteo mentions something about how he achieves the speed and also mentions something similar to apoyando, though again, it is not the same thing.

    I knew Allan Holdsworth when I met him in 1970s, when he was in Igginbotton’s Wrench, while I was working for the Guitar shop Sound City, in Londons Shaftesbury Ave, London W1. He and his othere guitarist Steven Robinson. They came in to borrow a couple of Hofner solid bodied Guitars.They were playing up stairs at Ronnie Scots, in Londons Frith St that night. I went with them to see the band. From March 73-Jan 75, I was working for the Guitar shop Top Gear, 5 Denmark St, London WC2 and its sister shop, Guitar Village in Shaftesbury, London W1. I mainly worked at Guitar Village. Allan Holdsworth was a friend of the shop and if he was ever in the area, he would pop in for a coffee and a chat. Alan was amazing Violin player and some time he would pick up a guitar and tease the staff (X3) who were all guitar players, with some of his amazing rifts. Our manager, the late Guy Mason, left the company to be come Allans guitar tech.

    OK weird coincidence. I was just watching a video on the life of Allan Holdsworth a few minutes ago and this video premiered as soon as I finished it. As soon as I heard this guy, I immediately said "man, he sounds like Holdsworth" 🤣

    Matteo's English has improved significantly, so now he's revealing to the English-speaking fans that he's not only the best guitarist working today but also a deep thinker about music too. Interestingly enough, Holdsworth too claimed he was inspired by a great sax player, John Coltrane.

    2:44 "wow, amazing" Rick! WTF! I would be with my jaw hanging open, foaming at my mouth. How is it possible to achieve that level of mastery and clarity? Are we in front of the guitarist with the most polished technique to date? Steve Vai looks like a beginner next to him.
