I tried your fix on my 2013 Explorer but the error message remained. A couple days later I was cleaning out my car and found the yellow plastic ring that fits around the opening of the fuel inlet. (It has the words "E85 / GASOLINE EASY FUEL" on it.) It had popped off when I knocked it with a fuel pump nozzle a few months earlier and I threw it in the car. So I reattached it and after about 12 miles, the error message disappeared. Apparently that little piece of yellow plastic is important and not just an E85 advertisement like I had assumed.

I have a 2013 taurus, the fuel filter inlet comes on,what should I do?
Mine is stalling and then comes on. Why?
Can this cause your check engine light to come on?
Yes
Mine always does this
Funny I looked up the inlet light for my mustang and all mustangs pop up
