Good stuff....video was well done.
Much appreciated!
Nothing highlights my immaturity more than my reaction to, "bell-end", being used in a professional setting.
I did however find this video extremely helpful. Thanks!
what kind of thread carriage are you using, could you do a review on it . It looks interesting. great video
Al engling custom made!
Your the best at this
Thankyou Mio!
Great video, very informative!
Thsnkyou 😊
Outstanding Video! Your style of Teaching is Superb! Very Thorough , giving good Info in a Easy flowing manner. Fully explaining every Step. pressure fitting grips was how I was taught in Both the Classes i took here in Cape may Nj 1994 and again in 2004 as a tune up. Will be saving these Videos as a teaching aid to pass on to others.
Thank You! Tight Wraps!
Glad it was helpful!

More to come!
Thanks Man 😊
I've seen guys years ago put shaving cream on blanks to fit foam grips like you just did.
Thanks for the great video, the question I have is about the thread carriage what brand is it and where do you get them
I love this video and helped me a lot in my future build sadly it had to end
Awesome video. I was wondering how much reaming you did on the grip as the rear slid further down the blank when you were putting your marks. Also how much smaller is the I.D. of the grip compared to O D. of the blank.
No reaming, this grip is a tapered ID, but even if it wasnt this method will work! 👍
what is that thing you used to cut the blank! that screw on thing on your vise, i love it!
It will be revealed in the tools video, but yes its amazing! Top tip: MTB handle bar cutting tool!
It's a Park Tools SG-6
Great content!!!!
When you mentioned epoxy applied to the grip is that rod thread wrap finished or the type of epoxy used on reel seat?
Rod wrap finish 👍
@truecustomrods6937
truly gerat vid mate, I just love the whole series. Could you tell us what "dirty thinner" you use?
How do you fit and align reel seats on to stand up rods. Do you fit the ferrule for trolling butts after rod guides are on? What do you do with a Heavy duty saltwater reel seat?
Hello Alasdair, i choose to do the guides first then glue the ferulle on the back with an alignment tool, tape it untill its dry.
Thank you
Can you use alcohol for the pressure fit?
What thread carriage is that?
1 question: What’s the thinner inside the grip for? Insert after completely dry or semi-dry?
Wet... it helps make the grip pliable and slip on super easy
@@BeardedWeirdoFishing thanks for the clarification! Will that not affect the hardening & adhesive property of the epoxy?
@@guamanfish not at all
@@BeardedWeirdoFishing awesome! Good to know, thanks!
Don is awesome!
what do you use for cleaning fluid?
It depends on the job, Acetone for stubborn stuff, Alcohol for most jobs
I hope i never snap my rod.shes a vintage fiberglass peice they stopped making in the early 80s
