Why do my threads all darken and the color is gone? The pros say not to use clolor protect as it keeps epoxy from soaking in. The threads burr up as sson as epoxy is applied. But now they have shrink wrap for guides. Any advice ? thanks!

Hi Gary...Mike here - I've recently discovered your channel and I'm fascinated by your knowledge and presentation. I've messed with fishing tackle in a 'DIY' capacity for decades...(7 of them!) and I figure if I'm ever going to get serious about the art of rod building, I'd better get crackin'! So, I've watched your vids up to #14 or 15 so far. What a wealth of info you provide. BUT, the real reason for contacting you is to ask about the tubing cutter you clamp into the vice...that's a neat tool! What is that actually called or what brand is it? I've gotta have one! Thanks again for a great series on rod building!

2.5 is too...stiff. can you make it like a 2 and 1/4 or 1 3/4 curved. Like the cabela European predator carp rods

WAVE ARMY - wow, sir can you build a rod for mahseer fishing.

I just used ProKote for the first time - this stuff is great - I am on day nine and it is still tacky following the instructions that came with it - using Denatured-Alcohol on a rag, 99% of the sticky mess came off with not much issue - I was also able to see the treads did not absorb any resin - I have seen complaints of this issue after I put it on - now what is interesting is the left over in the aluminum dish hardened just fine, just nothing on the rod did - I did this in a southeast Florida garage and that might be the issue -

I wish they would put the trim and winding checks in a kit with the reel seat handles and rod blank you purchase.

I do not like their reel seats. I do like the handles though. I do like the tails and tails 2. But I like the original better than the newer on.

Good morning. Just started watching your videos, they are very informative. I want to start building my own rods, want some special flare and details I haven’t been able to find on the market. I do have a question about the epoxy finishing. I have dome some epoxy work with wood so I am a little familiar with epoxy. I sometimes add color to my epoxy, using either dyes or Mica powders. Have you ever tried using colors to the epoxy on your rods and if so, how did it come out? Thank you. Jeff
