I also thought about his OCD and how I hope his cell gets tossed often and that someone goes in there and spits a giant lugie on his bed and or pillow or all over... The more, the better. I hope his showers are especially fun... For the other inmates...
I saw the resemblance between her and the model and wondered if that wasnt the dealio... That poor girl... I cringe... His disrespect to he and her family in the courtroom... Well, I hope he gets extra special food when it time to eat! Like maybe roaches in it.. not to be noticed by him until he has already ingested a substantial amount. I'm so glad that they were able to find her though and that they found him too. Smh... Depraved, gross, waste of our O²!
The situation with you and your friend and what to do if you go out again!? I would t go out with her again. She refused to leave with no thought to either of y'all's safety. And if you had left her and something had happened to her you would have had that on you for the rest of your life. Certainly there are more reasonable friends for you to go out with.

I'm 45 years old now, and I sometimes am surprised that I'm still alive. I was reckless in my late teens/early 20s, thought I was invincible. There were 3 instances where I look back now and am SO incredibly thankful that I was ok and wasn't harmed like I could have easily been. It seriously haunts me to this day. Things that a normal person should be able to do! Now I have a 17 year old daughter, and I am SO glad that she's a homebody. It scares me to death thinking about her going off to college, but I have told her about things in my past so hopefully she has learned from my mistakes. I'm so incredibly sad for India, she absolutely would have made this world a better place 😢 ❤

People rarely learn like that, sad part is that you have to through bad things to understand how world works 😔 hopefully your daughter will be careful and drink up your words like a sponge cause at that age all you care about is having good time which isn't a bad thing but you should always be careful no matter what and that's the truth, getting wasted outside is dangerous..so having atleast a person u can count on when you're heading back and or having troubles..like some sort of a back up plan yeah?

I was once super drunk in a club in a new city with new friends and lost them during the night. I sat down on a sofa alone. A guy came up to me pretending he knew me and telling me if I went outside with him he knew where my friends were. I told him no I didn’t know who he was and wouldn’t go with him. He was very persistent but I remember I kept saying no. A group of other guys saw what was happening and came over to ask what was going on. They asked me if I knew the guy. I said no. The other guy kept up with his persistence that I did and i was just playing a game. Luckily the guys didn’t believe him and stayed with me until my friends found me, but I know for sure something bad would have happened if I had left with the other guy.

Looking back, my best fiend who I always partied with and I are both lucky to be alive considering all of the stupid and very dangerous situations that we put ourselves in. Like going to random strangers houses when the bars closed just because we didn’t want to stop drinking. So many things could’ve happened to us. It scares me to think about. Although we have some fun memories to look back on.. in the end, it’s just not worth the risk and although most people are genuinely good and don’t want to hurt you.. there’s always one bad seed hiding amongst the many.

The Sarah Everard case proves that a woman can be doing everything “right” and still become a victim. The fault is the perpetrator’s, not the victim’s, and the question is not “what can a woman do to avoid being killed?” but rather “what should a man do to avoid killing women?” Some would have men exist in a state of permanent adolescence, absolved of all blame, while women shoulder the entire moral burden of their society.

I also read a surgery about men. If it’s a man who says to the criminal you did wrong and tells him off it makes more of a impact than women telling him ….. it’s that male ego thing. Most men want to look good with their fellow men. So maybe that’s something to keep in mind when they start out as young boys so this can be prevented. Adding to the discussion of how we can protect ourselves: I've never had any issues asking the guy my friend is staying with to show me his ID. I know it may sound like too much but I honestly think is one of the best things we can do for each other. Whenever I'm in that situation, when I go and say bye to my friend I'll turn around and I'll seriously ask for this person's ID or social media. 100% of the time, they've showed it to me. I've never come across a guy who has said no. And if the time does come where I'll get a no, I'll push my friend to leave with me.

I’m sorry, but it is easy to say “she shouldn’t have gotten this drunk, blah, blah, blah…” the saddest thing about this is, she tried to ask for help repeatedly and no one heard or helped her. Like she said, all she wanted to do is go home. It is awful that the bouncer/doorman didn’t offer to find her friends or call someone to help her. If people would only treat others as we would want to be treated the world would be a better place and beautiful souls such as this lovely woman wouldn’t loose their lives. Too many folks are “too busy” to care or too interested in their phones to care about others. Such a shame, and for our own selfishness beautiful souls are lost each day.

"Never let your friend out of your sight when night out" is an unreasonable and unrealistic term. Why go out if you have to be looking over your shoulder and that of your friends as well? Why can't women just go out and have fun the way men do and not be a potential murder victim by the men. It sickens and infuriates me when I see such phrases. Why can't society be putting such emphasis on the men not to kill rather than constantly telling women to always be "looking out on each other".

As for the woman, she should just look out for herself. Anyways,I shouldn't judge but I just can't seem to wrap myself around the idea how women should always be cautious even when exercising their giving right. Even if the other inmates only make threats and mentally torture him with the thoughts of what could happen it's only a small taste of his own medicine and what he put India through. He deserves at least that much in addition to his prison sentence!
I loved your lecture at the end reminding women to take care of themselves and each other and having a plan ahead of time on how to handle different scenarios and sharing locations is such great advice! Thank you adding that. And I agree, women should be able to wear what they want and drink as much as they want without any blame being out on them if something happens. Here’s a crazy story that has stuck with me over the years that I thought fit perfectly into what you say at the end…
In the early 2000’s I went to The Anger Management (Eminem, Ludacris, Xhibit, ect) concert in Camden, NJ with my BFF of 10+ yrs, and 5 other people. We drove up from Delaware so it was about an hour/ hour and a 1/2 drive. We got smashed the whole way there. Smoking weed and drinking a 5th of Hennessy (Gina and myself). So when we got there we had snuck another big bottle of some kind of liquor in that me and her kept drinking. Trying to make a long story short, after 3 attempts of sneaking upfront to see Ludacris we both got kicked out. The Tweeter Center is a huge outside stage on a huge lot of land. All I remember is getting kicked out and the next thing I remember is I’m by myself walking the streets of Camden, ghetto a$$ murder city. I remember going into different bars, having a good time drinking with strangers for about 3 hrs. MIRACULOUSLY I ended up back in the parking lot of the concert at the exact time the show was letting out. I ran into my friends as they were walking to the car. My BFF who I got separated from ended up back in the concert while I was walking around Camden by myself for hours. I still to this day am amazed that nothing happened to me!! It could have so easily ended different. I wish I could say after that I stopped being so reckless but that wouldn’t happen for another 6,7 yrs after that. I was 22 the end of 02’, i’m 41 now and haven’t drank in over 10 yrs. That was a blurry night i’ll never forget!! RIP India🙏🏽

Girl you are lucky! Camden was once rated the most dangerous City in the country. I’m from Philly, which is bad enough, but even I’m afraid of going there! I got lost there once by turning onto the bridge accidentally & I panicked. Glad you made it outta there! I cringe at the unsafe, crazy shit I did back in my late teens/early twenties!

Rachel, I really appreciate what you had to say at the end of this heartbreaking story. It’s absolutely NOT the fault of the friends or victim, it is only the fault of the predator. I also think you have an excellent point about making a plan with your friends before you go out. I’d add to it that there should be an agreement as to the time you’re all leaving, & that no matter what, you’re all leaving together. If there’s a guy either you or a friend is interested in… that’s what phone numbers or Facebook is for. Maybe even take turns being the “designated driver” even if you aren’t driving, just to ensure that at least one person in your group is always fully aware. I really liked what you said about the people who argue against these safety measures “because we shouldn’t have to!” Absolutely right, we shouldn’t have to worry about predators, unfortunately Nirvana is only the name of a band… here in the real world… take as much of your protection into your own hands as you can! Anyway, you did a great job on this story.

I agree with you. When my daughters were young I told them phone me no matter what. I don’t care how drunk you r you phone me at any time, I also drove many people home and I always walked them to the door got them inside and then left, I had old ice cream containers with lids,,,, for everyone in case someone vomited.,,,,,,,,,,,, I told my girls never ever go for a ride home with anyone that was drinking. And today they r in their 30s and healthy and happy. And safe. Even today I have told them to always phone me if they need someone. Driving or talking ect ect.

The moral of the story, do not leave someone by themselves. Before you go out, state a plan. Tell them “listen, when we go out, everyone has to be in agreement, no one leaves by themselves or with a stranger. If you decide to stay you have to give us your location from your cell where we can track you. Also give us the name and description of the person you are with if you can get or take a pic of the person and license plate number that is good also.” In fact before you go out allow your friends to track you from the cell phone.

    Going out rules…
    1. Designated driver or Uber/taxi/ride
    2. Code word for emergency situation - when the word is called - exit immediately- no questions asked
    3. Code word for getting uncomfortable and I want to leave ;no questions asked)
    4. Share my location with friend; family; parent…. Minimum- that way multiple people can gps you-
    5. Talk- tell at least two or three people where your going; who’s going - all important information

EDIT: my girlfriends and I had a pact in place that we followed every time we went out. We decided what time we were going to call it a night, stayed together and left together. We handled meeting guys with the hard and fast rule that if he was interesting and interested that night, exchange numbers. If it is a meant to be date, they will still be interested the next day. That also gave us time to evaluate whether WE were still interested and not put ourselves in the position of being alone with a guy we just met. It worked well for us.

When you’re married to someone like this, you doubt your reality. They love bomb you, then discard you so many times, all you see is that you’re causing the problems. Bc they’re so good at manipulating. And you stop trusting your gut.

Along with the great ideas for staying safe as possible, I have a routine I use 100% of the time when staying alone in a hotel, but wanting to leave to have dinner. On the hotel writing pads, I write on the top page in very heavy writing what time I'm leaving, where I'm going, and how I'm getting there. I estimate time of return earlier than I plan so ppl won't think I'll just be later. I leave my cell # with 2 ppl with my 360. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but life is a lot of work. Before I leave, I tear off the top page, and the 2nd page will have all my info without it being visible to anyone. Detectives know to look to see if anyone wrote on a piece of paper and left a print on the page left behind. You have a well laid out itinerary for police to know where to begin.
