Ok! I was about to cry when you mentioned that I had to go to the dealership... BUT then that RAP!!!!!! That was great!!!! Thanks for the smile and the great info. Will try your trick until I can get the stereo fixed. Thanks. Amanda From MT.
Very helpfull information, after following your instructions, I had to pull out the fuse, waited about two minutes, and luckily found the 5 digits code written on the manufacture 's car manual, and got my 2000 Honda Odssey back to normal God bless you that took time for this vídeo
Fantastic...... saved me a headache, my 2007 Chev lost it's programming to the radio yesterday... right before a road trip! This work-around worked like a champ.
I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS. Just yesterday my radio stopped dead and showed "LOCKED" What the heck I said .. I tried everything pushed all kinds of buttons.. so I googled 2002 Monte Carlo Radio showing "LOCKED" well it guided me hear,, Well after watching your video I went out to my car and did as you said , I got nothing . I just turned my key on and off . and everything would work windows, radio an things like that , well I got no results . So I thought i'll START the car and try it .. And bingo I had my 200 watt stereo back again ... I was all smiles .. Turned the car off and started it back up again and My 200 WATT Stereo was blasting away playing my favorite Pink Floyd tunes.. THANK YOU Jennies Garage, If it happens again i'll know just what to do to get my music back. You da Man JG. you saved me $150, For people who have tried to change the spark plugs on a 3.8 engine , you can't get to the rear of the 3 plugs by the fire wall, But their is a little trick. leave the car in park , take off the motor mount bolts on the top of the engine push the car forward about a foot, the engine will move just enough from the fire wall to reach the 3 plugs in the back. Change those plugs in the back push the car back and the engine will line up with the motor mounts ,, blot it down and you got your 3 plugs that you think only a special mechanic can do .. Job done.. Hope that helps you's who want to change your plugs .. don't get cheap on your plugs, get the best you can it'll be worth it . that's if your keeping the car.
I have to do it everyday.. Some times I just wait for it to unlock itself.. My elec. System is all messed up..I took my car in for the recalls an made it worse... I'm SICK of this car now my drivers window HAS to be locked with wedges of wood.one of the cables broke in side the door.. It still runs but it'd getting old to ,2002
IT WORKS FOR MY 03 MONTE CARLO!!...but only when the car is turned off. Once I start the car, it resets and goes back to the "Locked" screen. Thanks though.
Lol man your little rap was actually really good! That was unique and totally turned the video around for me whether it works or not this video gets a thumbs up. I got to hear that again
Found this video while looking to add an auxiliary port to my 2004, but nice trick to know anyway. And the bonus tunes - Better than the commercialized cap on the radio now. Nice vid!
If you ever get tired of making videos, you can take to the road with your RAP talents! I used to unlock radios all the time when I worked at a Chevy dealer. Unfortunately, I lost the paper that had the phone number and the info I needed to do that. I would have a radio unlocked within 10 minutes!
Sooo tell me what Im doing wrong? I have an 03 GMC and trying to install an 04 with Radio, CD and cassette deck combo like the one demo'd. Naturally the unit is locked. With ignition on, pressing 5 button, seek forward as video shows, I get nothing. Any help?
Also important to note that this is not a permanent solution. It will only work while the car is not turned on (assuming you are still using it in your car) and it will shut off when you start your car. Also, it will only allow you to do this 10 times before you need to detach the battery to reset it.
If you know someone with a decent bi directional scanner, they can do the vin relearn for the radio. the only thing, when I used my snap-on scanner, I had to built a 2006 avalanche with the navigation radio for the radio option to come up. It still worked and that was done on a 2002 chevy s10.
That's very clever. I'd like a cd/cassette in my 2001 Tahoe. I remember when cassettes came out, guess that makes me older than dirt! Thank you for posting.
I bought an aftermarket radio on eBay and it does come on for your video. Just fine with the ignition off. However, when I turn on the car it goes back to locked mode. My issue is I have the Bose amplifier in the back. So even if the car is off and I can get the radio to tune and change channels. I can't hear anything because the car accessories needs to be on to hear the speakers but it was worth trying
Or go to bestbuy or Wal-Mart and spend 45-100 bucks on a stereo and a wireing connector and say screw em. You get more features going aftermarket anyways.
Question: If the eeprom chip in the old radio is the same as the new radio why can't you just remove the chip from the old original radio and use it to replace the chip in the new radio? Old chip has the VIN number of the vehicle. Unless the socket for the chip in the new radio is different then it should work
There is a simple fix for swapping out the radio. I have done this in my 2002 Envoy. You must have your old radio. Take the metal cover off from around the radio after removal. Do the same for the new Replacing Radio. Swap the complete board where the VIN chip is located. It is easy and only one board. The radio VIN information stays with the Board. Replace cover and reinstall. That's it!
@@joshmatthiesen4552 I'm not sure. The tape player's VIN memory board would likely have to be the exact same size and type, but maybe it is worth a look at them to see. Especially if you can return the one with the tape player if it's not. My swope was a like for like. The CD player just locked up. A lot of times they design boards around the housing. If the vehicle is close enough in year. I think it would. If the housing is the same size then you have a shot.
I broke the face plate on my stereo so i went to a salvage yard to get a replacement stereo. Worked fine with key on engine off but as soon as I started it, it locked the stereo. I swapped newish one to my original stereo so I lucked out having g to go to the stealership to reprogram it. You can get a way better stereo for how much they would charge to reprogram it... who in the heck would even steal a crappy stock radio anyways😅
CONT... At the Radio screen, select: Module Setup. At the Module Replacement screen, select the appropriate module to setup. Press EXIT on the scan tool and cycle the ignition.
This would not work if my 2007 Chev Express Cargo van was running. I had to do it before I started and then I could not change from AM to FM or to CD and no preset channels worked etc. This works but limits the use of the radio etc. Thanks for the tip.
hey jennies your track is great, but i did the sAME press three buttoms but when i start the buick rendezvouz aint work. it works with the truck off but not when i turn the truck on.
This was designed into the radios so they could be tested to be sure everything works ok before installing it and learning the Vin into it, which can be costly.
Could it work and not be the correct one? Im asking since some oem radio will lock if power is disconnected, even if they are the correct radio for the car. Since this one is coded with the vin number via a chip I guessed it would not lock, but wanted to make sure. If I could prevent it or pull the code prior I would have. Thank you for your precision on the matter
I bought a radio/cd player for my chevy Colorado on ebay. the directions they gave me didn't work. Your direction worked, but as soon as the key is turned on it locks again. Is that normal? Should I return the radio???
doing it this way, does it retain the presets/last station you were on? the used dealership i bought my truck at replaced the radio, but they did the mod where you solder the IC instead. i don't really care to much, but my wife does. the radio defaults to 98.1. i'm looking for options, i might go grab a shit radio from a junkyard if it will at least keep the memories. i don't mind having to push 3 buttons to turn the thing on. might just scrap the whole thing and toss in a cheap walmart radio, but that seems like way more work than it needs to be.
I got a 2002 GM radio six cd will this work I got it and I'm aware of the theft lock, I broke the knob on my kia's factory radio and I hate the clock. Thanks for the tips
So using your method I was able to get the radio to turn on (with no ignition on). However the only functions that worked were volume and tuning knob ( not seek or scan buttons) . pushing the presets didn't do anything. Also the cd player did work. Is this normal if the vin number isn't forced into the radio? I don't want to pay to have the radio programmed if those functions still aren't going to work.
Question on switching radios idk if you anything about that but I have an 03 envoy slt xl with a Bose stereo and was looking to swap it into a non Bose 2002 slt envoy for the cassette deck would this work?
not a thief. just want to help someone out who removed a stereo from his car to his truck. How long does the fix work for and why if he bought both vehicles does he have to pay for some dealership to fix the problem?

At the Vehicle Identification screens, build the vehicle. At the System Selection Menu screen, select: Body and Accessories. At the Body Screen, select: Entertainment. you need a scan tool for this all the dealer ship has to do is plug a computer into your OBD 2 port enter a few things into the computer and they are done it only takes minutes dont let them rip you off
dude ! you gotta a hit 💿 ! tnx for vid , i will try it. As for the " mental help " comment down below , he cant think " out of the box " like our kind 😂
Do you use some kind of adapter to turn these Class II units on? You show multiple videos of these units working, with the display not dimmed out, and the back lights on. The modification I talk of in my video only lets me turn the radio on, and requires taking a chip off. While the only successful way thus far for me, seems like it massively degrades the radio. Also a very limited amount of these radios even accept this. I'm just looking for another way to turn these on that doesn't damage the radio. Honestly, I just simply collect GM Stereo decks. These were always the decks that escaped me because I can't do very much with them on a bench as I can with the old Theftlock series previous to these. Any info would be awesome. I would love to start gathering up more of these Class II head units and adding them to my collection with out having to destroy them.
II tried doing every that you said on here to do and my radio still don't come on. have to take out to dealer and get it programmed. unhappy. no tunes.
thanks for the information....the radio did work when i entered ur code...but the radio wont play when the ignition is on...is there a way around that? i want to ride and listen to the radio instead of parking and listenin ....please help.....

FUCK YEAH!!! it worked for my used 05 cavalier that I just bought. The factory cd player wouldn't work so I went to a junk yard an bought the same type for $65. @@dwightdodd3734 I sold that 05 cavalier cause it was getting too rusty and immediately bought a 04 Pontiac sunfire that had 55K miles and no rust. That was 6 years ago and the cd player stopped working on this one and the red lcd is going out. It’s got around 130K now and it’s time to let it go unfortunately

Luckily, the mechanic who reprogrammed the BCM called the GMC dealer for the codes and unlocked it at no additional charge.
Man that little dog hesitantly barking in the background of the rap cracked me up

better than 180 to 230................
