I gotta say, it really hurt my soul at 45:38 when you hovered over the emergency aid ability that would've made using a medkit a free action, and then DIDN'T use it when you healed Ji Lee. This has been a great campaign so far, but taking some time to get acquainted with all the new abilities would've saved you a ton of action economy and headaches throughout the missions.
Guess what? I installed XCOM2 again... Put it on Expert, Ironman, with all the mods (thanks for the list on steam by the way) and... I was beaten until I cryed! Another great video by the way! Thanks for share!
You usually love the Reaper intel, but it's good to remember that you can also scan at the Templar HQ to get double the healing rate if you have some wounded soldiers! :)
We've done that a few times, but we're okay on health at the moment. We're almost always a little tight, this is actually better than usual becuse we have more higher ranked guys available and it's the lower ranks where we're really tight.
I don't think I've ever seen you fighting so many enemies at once. Nice recovery. Shame about the advent recruit but he gave up his life nobly in atonement for past actions etc. (Note; say that with small grin). In any case, good vid
I was really pleased with how we did that turn. It took a while to mop of the rest but we would have been looking at some real trouble if all those guys had been teeing us up on their turn.
Honeslty, taking the shot on the Codex with the Bluescreen rounds, even with a lower chance to hit was a good play. It's hard for any other character to hit that guy plus teleport is a serious problem. You missed, but it was worth the try...
Even when I watched the replay, I had no regrets on that one. I see other things that make me wince a bit, but I agree that it was a risk worth taking.
Elite Striker: "Were surrounded, theres multiple pods" Heather: "They really don't want us here" Andersen: "At least it can't get any worse" *Andromadon pod and 2 more codex pods trigger* Elite Striker: "You were saying?" Andersen: 😮 Heather: "So what's th plan?" Andersen: "So were definitely using a mimic beacon...and" Elite Striker: "Will that be enough?" Andersen: "Well no but we also have.....you" Elite Striker: "Me?" Andersen: "Yes, you can take on an Andromadon can't you? I mean tought guy like you-" Heather: "-Not to mention, that Andromadons can't aim "That" well so he probably won't even come close" Elite Striker: "You're right, I GOT THIS! FOR XCOM!" *Elite Striker runs ahead and gets shot immediately by the Andromadon* Heather: "He's dead isn't he" 😑 *Elite Striker's corpse twitches* Andersen: "Yup" 😮💨 Ray knew how nasty that one was gonna be, great job keeping our soilders alive
Yeah, that scripted intro really falls flat unless you do this mission early on and the idea of fighting a gatekeeper is genuinely new and scary... at least in that campaign.
I'd say this was the most intense map of my run. Loads of pods close together, each pod rather strong on their own. The layout is quite odd too (I think I had the same one as you). I was lucky to go in with my reaper though and got a fair bit of scouting.
The weird thing is that I tried using it before a shot a few missions ago and it actually gave me another shot. Maybe it was just the hair trigger and I didn't see the message.
"86% is not 100".
Truer words have never been spoken.
We've all learned that lesson the hard way
The pod activation from hell. Good lord.
wow... just wow!
For real!

Lol, it's a lot to take in all at once. But think how easy the game will feel if you go back to vanilla XCOM!
It’s like the Lost… but Advent!
XD
Lol, that's a pretty good summary.
Wow what a turn TapCat against the whole map, who wins? Obviously our endearing commander always comes on top
Confucius say: " When being sandwiched, eat one slice of bread."
That was extract right away territory for sure

I have watched a ton of your xcom videos. I think that was the biggest pull you have ever had. Big fun to watch.
It's up there for sure, and the fact that they were all around us made it a lot worse.
Impressive result considering how many enemies you had active at the same time at multiple points in the mission!
That was a tough one, no doubt about that!
This mission was a big movie moment. Good on you.
RAY!!!

Thanks, I've had a few missions with a similar number of enemies active at one time but it's certainly not common and I'm grateful for that!
Ok, yeah, you really got surrounded by way too many enemies but you did well that round.
I was really pleased with how we did that turn. It took a while to mop of the rest but we would have been looking at some real trouble if all those guys had been teeing us up on their turn.
That pod casually strolling into the already awful activation was *chef's kiss*
Indeed!

Honestly, after you fight Gatekeeper Primes in other missions it feels cute sseing the game reveal the Gatekeeper as if it's a big new threat...

Love reaper scouting, it's just so darned helpful
It’s not really weird that the sectoid was on his own. Everybody in advent hAtes sectoids they are the biggest jerks
Even with everything on this mission, I'd still play it instead of the "normal" version. I just hate burrow lids that much lol.
Adrenaline rush is Run and Gun with a damage reduction. Works the same AFAIK
The weird thing is that I tried using it before a shot a few missions ago and it actually gave me another shot. Maybe it was just the hair trigger and I didn't see the message.
I have this mission coming up in my own campaign. Not looking forward to this one at all.
I have faith in you! For me in vanilla XCOM2 the first retaliation mission is always the hardest.
You'll be fine, if you move up slowly and carefully it's fairly rare to get that many enemies converging on your all at once.
