I think I'd have Evacced once the beacon was destroyed. The mission was failed, and staying (particularly with a Gatekeeper Prime in the mix) was risking damage for little gain.
I’m thinking of uninstalling better advent. The packs all converge on our position when they aren’t even supposed to know we’re we are yet. It’s driving me nuts. It’s always another pack running out of the smoke to attack when you are already in a battle
I'd have to go back and read the notes for the mod, but I don't remember that being one of the effects of A Better Advent. There's a different mod called Yellow Alert that I know does that but I'm wondering if you're just getting a little unlucky with the alien movement. I know that once you're revealed there is definitely a mechanism in the game (no mods required) that leads the other pods to gravitate toward you. At any rate, good luck with the issue and let me know if it turns out that the mod was at the root of the problem or not.
A gatekeeper prime? That's tough. Seems like what Vahlen would have come up with if she hadn't stopped after viper, muton and archon. Downright fiendish. Doesn't seem fair to blame you for mission failure in that instance. Perhaps a medal for getting team out in one piece with no death's would be more appropriate. Good vid
Lol, I don't know about a medal but after having two different guys get blasted within an inch of their lives by the gatekeeper I did feel good to just get everyone out alive.
Without some kind of hard stunlock like frost bomb and stasis, I'm guessing the next best thing against a Gatekeeper Prime is probably poison to reduce its aim (assuming they can be affected by it), or go all in by grouping everyone together inside a smoke bomb and 1-turn him.
One of my great frustrations in this campaign has been that I couldn't get so much as a single venom round to use in situations like this one. But I agree that a frost bomb is a great alternative against any of the primes.
I think when you were stuck between the guy on 1HP and the Gatekeepr pod you had already lost the mission (the Gatekeeper had destroyed the relay) so you could have just pulled back to the other side of the wall (tried to prevent the Gatekeeper and the snakes from seeing you at all) killed the guy on 1HP and let the Gatekeeper pod come to you with the team on Overwatch. I mean, it's a horrible situation to be in, but since you already lost the mission you don't have to stand your ground and fight on two fronts.
What a gruesome mission, certainly primes are a little too inconsistent with their behaviour probably the best way to deal with them is to frost bomb them in advance or at least i hope so cause that Gatekeeper is truly a match made in hell not to mention those templars need a couple readjustments cause it feels really cheap the amount of reaction they can get for a "normal" unit
Agreed. In hindsight, I would have done well to put the frost bomb on the sapper and use it on the Gatekeeper Prime when he showed up. Letting that thing take shot after shot in response to our attacks was horrendous!
*The Device is on its last leg* Wei: "This is not good boys, we need to hurry before they destroy the Device" *Gatekeeper Prime laughs in the shadows* 😈 Prime: "Its Clobbering Time!" Wei: "Hey! Thats my catchphrase, you can't have it" *Prime Destroys the Device* Asher: "I guess we should just extract then?" Wei: "We can't leave" Asher: "Why not?" 🤨 Wei: "Identity theft is no joke Asher" (Sidenote: Fantastic Four reference from Ep 1) I don't see how you could have won, Ray knew and he tried to warn us, but you kept us alive in a horrible situation and healed us up for future missions so I think we did okay 👍
That's probably the best we could hope for after the templars used the device as a speedbag and then the gatekeeper nuked it from orbit. For the record, the Thing may actually be my favorite comic character and I've always loved his taglines. When the prime destroyed the device, I should have said "Wotta revoltin' development this is!" Sadly, I don't think a whole lot of people would get that at all.
From what I've seen in yours and Syken's videos, the enemy templars are really unbalanced. Add to that they got an extra turn when they were activated which they spent that turn and their following turn just to focus the device that they were otherwise ignoring. You never had a chance.
The two advent templars attacking the device after getting triggered feels like bullshit to me. Were they always able to do that? I think that's only because of a mod. Still bullshit though...
If you had sprinted your team to save the beacon, you would have lost your team. So, even though the mission is "failed" you made the right call.
Well, that's it. Can you imagine taking on that pair of templars at the same time as that gatekeeper (not to mention the other enemies)?
@@TapCat There would be no one left. Squad Wipe incoming.
It’s funny that Syken and tapcat played the same mission and it went so differently.

You're right, I just don't think that way during the missions. You'll virtually never see me leave a mission map early.

Man Tap That was brutal! Honestly I think that move from the templars was BS! I'm really glad that I didn't activate that mod. Cheers!
Those templars getting to attack on reveal is brutal, as was them starting the next turn attacking the device again.
Back at it!☕️💪🏼

At one point, that was kind of my plan. I honestly don't remember why I went away from it.

at around 14:00 if think a wall got blown out near the device. Was that the gatekeeper?
I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that you're right and it was the gatekeeper moving.

@@TapCat Dang that is good, I wish I thought of that
23 Damage!!! Ouch Indeee :D
What was sick!
No frost bomb or snake suit freeze for this team against the gatekeeper ?
Yup, and that was a big miss on my part.

Yeah, they're literally like a better version of our templars... and ours are pretty damned good to begin with!
The two advent templars attacking the device after getting triggered feels like bullshit to me. Were they always able to do that? I think that's only because of a mod. Still bullshit though...
They only exist because of the mod and them getting a free attack when they get revealed definitely feels like BS to me.
