Selecting stats helps on armors and weapons since u can get the inscription or insignia back when u salvage them but amulets and trinkets dont have insignias to begin with so it didnt matter :)

However the 22nd the only one that was altered in anyway was the only that strayed from the pattern of 1-3 matrixes, giving 10. Given that stat selection was the only new variable, I'd say it was most probably the cause

Edit2: NOPE STILL DIDN'T GET IT, DEPRESSION IS BACK. Also stat selecting as far as I could tell did not influence the drops. That said only tested it 10 times.
If the odds of getting a Salvaged Excellence truly are 5%, then the odds of getting at least one when salvaging 22 amulets is 1 - ( (1 - .05) ^ 22) [ ^ = "raise to the power of" ] which ends up to be about 68%. So your chances were about 2 out of 3. Tough break.
Exactly what I was thinking. He had a sure way of converting it to a certain amount of gold and save his salvage kits, while they were free, he would have bought them if he didn't have them, so their cost should still count towards expense
@@sleepypotato123 using ice shards, which you could get from bjora/strikes, you can spend the shards AND karma, to buy season 4 currencies, like kralkatite and the sort, and then convert it. Also works great for preparing for skyscale.
I think he got about 18 gold from the stabilising matrices (not factoring in the ascended salvage kits). He'd have gotten about 58 gold converting them to volatile magic from the same amount of ice shards, except he'd have only spent 295k karma.

Where did you get the idea it is a 5% drop rate? Even if it was I think you need roughly double the amount amulets you used in the video to "guarantee" a drop.
But if you lose at gambling, you need to keep gambling. Because when you lost you were below the odds; on continued gambling it will mean your chances of winning or now much higher than before. I'm sure that's a valid way of thinking and there isn't a theory using actual probability math disproving it.

I have salvaged hundreds and hundreds of ascended gear, mostly rings from fractal runs and never got any of the higher worth materials from it. I am probably the only person who did not finnish that achviement where you need to salvage ascended stuff to get higher end material. I just given up on it.
Clearly needs a 2nd attempt but with stat-selected amulets. For science ofcourse.

The chance of not getting any is 95% * 95% * 95% * ... 22 times = 0.95 ^ 22 = 32%. So the chance of getting one or more is 1 - 0.32 = 0.68 = 68%.
