After years of playing WOW I got tired of the grind. I was thinking of trying GW2. After watching your video I am about to go make an account. Hope to see you there.
It's good and definitely worth a try for the price point. My only gripes with it are the "transmog" system is a minor ding every time you use it, even if you do get drip fed transmutation stones, and the role-play elements you see in WoW and FFXIV simply don't exist. There isn't even a proper /sit last I checked.
I recently started GW2, coming from WOW that I had played for years. There is so much to explore and enjoy about GW2, I think that's where I'm going to be staying for a long time. I'm tired of grinding through WOW, only to have to do it again and again.
I discovered your channel like many others through your discovery of WoW. Like you, I (we I guess) don't have as much free time as I used to when I started WoW in 2007. I never played GW2, but I'm happy sticking around playing WoW and discovering GW2 via your videos, should be a blast ! Sending love from France.
@@moopliss Winter is spent in FFXIV. Got to let the MSQ pile up for some cozy holiday binging. Yes, tell me a story while I'm burritod by the fire, and then we will world tour the raids. Spring and Summer go to WoW, just really feels right bumming it on a druid when everything is so alive and beautiful. Nostalgia of raidlogging on summer break, and patenting future nostalgia by doing Glory runs with the guild. A KSH here or there doesn't hurt either. Fall is all about ESO and getting stupid on the necromancer during the Halloween event. Ever since TSW went offline, there isn't an mmo that scratches that spooky atmospheric itch. Definitely the season to crawl around the imperial sewers looking for someone to munch on. There are too many good things from all of them to devote to just one, but I've fallen into a comfortable routine. Feels great to resub every time.
Really hope this Guild Wars 2 small hype train keeps chugging along. Just became a new player coming from 10+ years of WoW and most recently 2k hours in New World. Really sucks I didn't try GW2 before but DAMN am I happy I did.
They still have big story plans and expansions coming out we still don't know what scared the karka, krait, quaggain, and largos from their ocean home land and if you go to the world map and go far to the left there part of a land mass popping out. The game has been having a pretty big influx of new players as well even though the game never advertises.
wow: whenever a patch droppes, everything you did up to that point is meaningless. The gear you grinded so hard? worthless. gw2: whenever a patch droppes, everything you did up to that point is still valid. The gear you grinded so hard? still there. Still the top. Still valid. wow: we do not care about your time or you. gw2: we do care about your time and you. wow: stand still and push buttons gw2: here is the action easy choice.
You got a new sub! When I realised that you would stay with GW. As a HUGE fan of WOW, played since WOTLK. Made a lot of friends in my country (Portugal) and a cross the seas... improved my english and share fantastic moments within Azeroth, I cant keep with the grind anymore. Im 29 years old now... I've a wife, I'm planning to have a bunch of kids to play mario kart with them... I do like to play some other games... like to play Dungeon and Dragons, watch some netflix with my wife and grab a beer with my friends... World of warcarft doesn't allow me to do that and still enjoy new content... I found GW recently and the only thing I'm missing is some friends to play... but I'm enjoying! Live World got me in a second... being in a world that is alive... that is not full of people stading in a major city clicking in a button to queue to a dungeon.. what's the point fo playing a MMO if it is to stand in a place killing some "Bosses"?! Isnt the idea to explore a world? To find new places so we can have a break from our real world? Guild Wars isnt perfect... I wish they could make a graphic revamp like Blizzard made with WOW, I think that would bring more players. The interface isn't appelative, but isn't a pain neither... I really understand why you pick GW over WOW... and I made that same decision some months ago too... Enjoy the game and Big hug Moopliss!
I don't think you're gonna miss WoW that much honestly. I come back every couple years and it's the same game with better graphics. Fun to dive in every couple years, not something I'd play regularly.
@@ervinfejes9942 bingo..i logged in today for the first time since shadowlands in 2020, queue for a dungeon, get told to end myself, removed from the party then whipered by several people about how im useless and pathetic. so uh yeah, great community in wow 10/10
I joined gw2 a few days ago and I really love that I can play whenever I want without the feeling of "you payed 13 euros you need to play only this game".. I love to play other games too, cozy planet zoo or subnautica again or some overwatch. With gw2 I can join whenever I want and leave for some time to play other games and thats a great feeling of freedom :) and the community is so much better... no young men that ask sexual questions, no toxic people when you dont know the mechanics, it just feels good. Hope this feeling holds on and I will have a lot of fun time in the game.. the only thing I dont like is, its very expensive at the beginning, all the living story, the bank upgrades, the bag slots etc... but as now I plan to farm some gold and buy it that way :) sorry for the makers of gw2 but I dont have that much money to spend, if so I would because I really like what they did ^^
Yes it can be expensive to buy all on start but fortunately you don't need to do it. With expansions I will not help you, You must wait for special offer. With living world however you don't need to buy it all at once. If I remember correctly one chapter cost 200 gems which you can buy for around 70 gold. If you have 80lvl character I recommend to do daily fractals. On T4 its best gold farm, its fun and it could help you equip your character in full ascended gear for almoust free. Good luck and have fun in Tyria ;)
Yeah the living world access especially on steam accounts is annoying. But , you can explore these areas by teleporting to a player who plays in these areas. From my personal view, I bought the first two expansions, I loved the game. I realised that in terms of getting the best gear you have to spend the same amount of time with other guys who had other expansions(horizontal progression) which is really good. I bought the rest of the expansions because of the story and the extra freedom it gives you (end of dragons third specialization, soto weapon mastery) and I strongly believe that spending 100 euros ONLY for every content that was created on a 10 years game totally worths it. Now in terms of farming, you have to check the event timers and find groups and the gold will come easier and with much more fun in my opinion by doing meta events. On the other hand, you can play WvW,PvP (which can be really difficult as a first timer) and get fast gold too.
I saw this coming a mile away. As soon as you started talking about subs and wanting a life outside of gaming, I knew you’d pick GW and that’s not a bad decision. I’ve been following you since your sm discovery of WoW and probably even further back and I got to say, you’ve made a wise decision. The amount of time and money you’d have to spend on WoW is staggering compared to GW and it’s not a bad idea to go for the free option on most cases. I play WoW because I have friends that play the game and I’m content knowing I got a solid group that will be playing the game for many years to come. Good luck on your gaming journey and we’ll see you in the next expansion of WoW ^^
GW2 for the win in my books. Real life respect with horizontal progression. No gear grind. Alt Friendly. Don't have to fight over loot. No monthly cost.
I am a WoW player who have converted to GW2 and don´t plan on going back. For all the reasons you mention, but also for the ultimate reason: Account shared progress! I just did the entire collection for the Skyscale and it feels SO GOOD to know I never have to do it again since it applies to all my characters now. Same with the masteries. Every new character I make already knows how to glide, or autopickup loot. I can´t believe I spent so many years replaying the same content for multiple alts every expansion when games like this existed instead.
This video made you earn a subs for me, I'm a vet wow player... Started playing with 13 years and now I'm 24 and with full job and responsibilities, wow seems a bit overwhelming cause u have to constantly gear up to keep up. So I'm considering trying gw2
WoW to me is that game that I can play with my friends to raid once a week and log into whenever I want. Due to raiding the gear grind doesnt stop, but I think I will be trying GW2 for the 2nd time (I bought it on launch) I want to explore something new. Been a WoW player since 2004 and there is nothing left to explore for me. Time to log into GW2.
I used to be a big Guild Wars players during the original, I would say from 2005 to 2012 when GW2 came out. I played a fair share of GW2 at that point but found myself flocking to World of Warcraft later on. Currently I'm very heavy on WoW, where I have to keep playing in order to not fall behind. However I still have Guild Wars 2 on the side where I have no pressure whatsoever. I can login at any time and my gear will still be relevant, I can just continue the game at my pace and wont have to pay for a subscription to do so.
When it comes to MMOs, I feel like its one of those things you just get a ~feeling~ about. Is there something interesting on the horizon on the MMO of your choice? Yeah, that's probably the one you're playing. For me, its currently WoW Classic Wrath, after playing retail WoW for almost 20 years I just now jumped over. Its all a process, and whatever you find fun is important. Enjoy the games you want, and I'm glad you aren't feeling pressured to continue playing a game for the attention it garners vs. the actual enjoyment you get out of it. Have a great day :)
I have just switched from wow to GW2 because I don't have much time to play these days, I just can't keep up with the gear treadmill. Hoping to find a bit more relaxing time in GW2 ^_^
I switched my main MMO from WoW to GW2 recently and I’m so happy i did for most of the reasons you mentioned. I love the fact that the game respects my time, especially with my young son who I’m spending lots of time with.
thank you for the video! im a GW2 Player since it has started back in... 100 years ago :-) and I still love it. And I never got bored. And I think the "never gets bored" thing is what GW2 makes it different from other mmo.
I respect your decision. the world of warcraft will always be open for you, I'll remain in warcraft realm keeping myself busy with the lore I love. Keep good things coming. ¨Take care now, Bwonsamdi will be watin' for ya... on de Other Side...¨
Well said man, I think you made the right choice. I tried to get into WoW multiple times, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends that have experience and I must say, I hated it. It is VERY much not beginner friendly. GW2 however is amazing, you can be as chill as you want or as hardcore as you want. Be a master of PvE or PVP, switch around, still an active and incredibly friendly player base. I also love the uniqueness of some things in the world. Am enjoying it to this day~
I think it is very important to note that anything in GW2 gem store can be bought with in-game gold at pretty fair prices, while WoW's store is only with real-word currency.
You killed me with saying GW2 doesn’t have grab this and return quests. I just finished my third core map clear and I believe I reasonably disagree lol.
I feel you on the open world aspect, but there were technical reasons for doing it this way back in the day (ressource constraints), and today there are logistical reasons, too. gw2 does not have a server system in the classical sense anymore, but opted for a megaserver system before its first expansion dropped. yes, you join a server when starting the game on a new account, but the only place it really matters anymore is World vs World, the big scale, week-long PvP matches, between 3 servers at a time. In all other areas (PvE / Arena PvP) you are playing on a megaserver, with douzens to hundrets of copies of the maps getting opened and closed on the fly, depending on the current player population on these maps. People like to farm world bosses, and those are on a timed rotation (with quite a bunch overlapping each time), resulting in several thousand of players leaving and entering those maps constantly. But since all of them sharing the same space would overload even high end PC's (and fry a single server responsible for claculating all their actions), maps are capped at a couple hundret of players at a time, but the number of maps running simultaneously on individual servers within the megaserver system, are set to a limit way beyond the current player population, allowing everyone entry and keeping the game stable at all times. And once they are done with the boss and teleport to other areas, those map copies close again. You get a 60 minute timer until a map force-closes, but also get offered a temporary loot chance bonus, if you allow the game to teleport you into one of the remaining copies, spawning in the same location, but with possible changed event states on the map. The advantage of having everyone on the same megaserver while in Arena PvP and PvE are obvious. All share the same market place, all people que up in the same LFG tool for dungeons / fractals / raids / strike missions, and all PvP players que up in the same matchmaking system too, drastically reducing waiting time for PvP and high end PvE. All maps, including the beginner ones, are well populated to all times, worldbosses or not. And you always meet new people in the mayor cities (crafting / vendor / service hubs / and usually just a space to idle and chat). The whole community is playing within the same world, interacting more or less directly with each other. And some dials in the background also ensure that you get ported onto the same maps with people on your friendlist, in your guild or in your current party, if possible. In fact, putting people on your block list also get considered when the megaserver decides which copy of a map you end up in, so if there are some people you really don't want to run into, chances for that happening are actively reduced. Add on top ressource nodes being instanced for each player individually, so no competition on farming, as well as you getting full xp by just damaging a mob which is already in combat with others, regardless who kills it, and it all creates an environment where you actually enjoy to run into random people playing in your area, doing events together, reviving / supporting each other in combat, and enjoy your time in the game. Gw2 has one of the least toxic communities I came across, and a big part of it is how it encourages cooperation via positive reinforcement across all its systems. And by fracturing its open world with loading screens, it actually brought its players closer together.
@@sgt.bonkers8706 So many things I've taken for granted in GW2. You mentioned a couple here, including cooperative play in loot drops and resource collection. It would bother me so much to go back to the WoW system.
You're absolutely right. I tried GW2 now and everything is instanced. That's not an open world. The background music is horrible, too. It doesn't fit the game/the maps. And you're not really getting introduced into so many things. After many hours it's still confusing sometimes. No wonder the base-game is for free. It's horrible.
Totally understandable my dude. I've been playing WoW since I was in high school when it came out. I've always loved it. I remember when Guild Wars 1 came out and I LOVED it, it was hugely different and I actually liked it more. Guild Wars 2 doesn't tackle combat in a way that WoW offers, at least to me. FF14 and SWTOR are the only other 2 MMOs that really match WoW and best it is some ways, but WoW has such good combat and wide change. Azeroth will always be here my dude. I agree 100% with what you said about WoW and it's old raids. I wish you could always go back to how difficult old raids were. Right now you have to wait until time walking weeks and it's annoying, you make a solid point.
It was a fun journey to see, now you've at least experienced the father of MMORPGs, I can respect your opinion and choice. Don't mind the elitists and their feeble opinions, they can't handle that someone has different taste than them.
As far as instanced dungeons in gw2: it's still worth it to go back if you reached lvl 80 for the currencies to unlock each dungeons armor and weapon skins
A lot of reasons seem to be the time invested into your first MMO. Funny enough, GW2 is the perfect side-MMO to dip in and out of, especially with their new yearly expansion model. Its horizontal style makes everything evergreen and its content can be mostly soloed. Its F2P nature means it heavily incentivizes daily players and long-term grinds, which just isn't my personal tastes. Still, a wonderful game to hop in and enjoy the story and world.
Played WoW from 2006-2009, and the endgame was exhausting. Finally quit because I just couldn't spend 3 hours in a raid to get a "chance" at one piece of gear I wanted. Having played GW2 from 2014 til now, it is much more relaxing. It may not have the crazy endgame grind that some players want since it's ultimately a much more forgiving and welcoming experience. You can, however, farm the "legendary" gear with adjustable stats so you never need to gear farm again, and can focus on learning and mastering new mechanics. Getting full legenary gear will take a large amount of money and some considerable playtime, so you still have a grind of sorts. Add on to that no sub fees, a welcoming community, lots of story(and content) to cover, and a horizontal progression system, you can go at your own pace and never get "left behind". 9 years in and never looked back. edit: I forgot that the servers are rarely if ever down for maintenance. I never really appreciated it until someone in the community mentioned it.
Gw1 is a masterpiece 9/10 i'm playing WOW because its more hardcore i felt very empty when playing gw2 doesnt know what to do because i dont like doing tidies achivements to me wow respect my time because the more time i invest the more powerful i became compare to gw2
I quit WoW a few months ago, mostly because I stopped playing shortly after Dragonflight came out (I was very sick and couldn't bring myself to sit at my computer for longer than 15 minutes at a time) and I felt like I was behind on everything when I came back... Only to find that it only looked like I was behind, in reality, I barely missed anything. The new features where just too shiny and distracting. Since then, I ended up hanging up my hat with WoW about three months ago now. Right now, I simply don't have the mindset for it. It feels more about tiny progression verses a grand adventure like it used to. Right now, I bounce between Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR when I feel the itch to play an MMORPG, and I must say, I'm really enjoying playing these games that I missed out over the years, because I was in my WoW Only Blind Mode.
I was really afraid about your opinion for those 2 MMORPGs... but after i watched the full video i understand that GW2 is the casual of the two. personally i started playing GW2 last year, this is my first MMO and i'm planning to have more fun in Tyria, see you around
The combat in GW2 is so much better it's not even close...the speed and reaction time are super high ceiling...also, there are a few different professions or specializations that have access to far more skills than the basic 2 weapon set rotation, so you can easily have 25-35 unique spells to utilize for those that really want to feel like they're playing a piano in game. It definitely depends on what you want from a game, and there are times I wish the questing system was a little more direct and clear like wow. But for world exploration, high level combat, and a nearly endless quantity of masteries and collections to achieve, GW2 just has way more content in that area. And there are some maps in GW2 that blow away anything WoW has ever attempted to create. The verticality and scope of some maps in this game are mind boggling. There's a nostalgic part of me that may go back and grind some classic at some point, but for my main every day game, it's GW2 hands down.
If you ever end the first elder Dragon you will get one if the most insane rewards. Just go back to your base and then it starts... I wont spoiler more outside of take the sound options on otherwise youll miss it. If you started as a silvari or visited them, you might recognize it.
i also have played wow since BoA but one thing that always annoyed me is that often gear grind on this game. Gw2 am i also playing since the Beta and i even played Guild Wars since the age of 6 where Factions came out i still play Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 today and it keeps having fun and my attention. Sure that everyone say Guild Wars is a dead game because there isn't new content there but let me tell you this i haven't even reach the Max Titel rank in this game and that's still my Goal plus i also have friends there where we play together and even make challenges out of that. Guild Wars 2 is the game that keeps getting new stuff. i enjoy the PvE also the PvP and WvW and it still makes fun to play alone or together with friends or with other players. it is always nice to come back home after a hard work day and have does two games to relaxe a bit and escape the Real world and discover other places or being in one place and enjoy the peaceful music.
Guild Wars 2 I got into after hitting a wall with SWTOR. I've tried playing WoW but the subscription pricing is absolute cancer. I still don't forgive them for what they did with the story. When playing Guild Wars 2 I expected it to play like WoW. I was surprised that it actually felt somewhat responsive. I didn't feel like I was just standing there and waiting to press a button like in SWTOR. The fact that it's a 1 time buy for the expansions and that you can have a pretty good amount of freedom over how your character is set up is quite fun. I have a Guardian that's set up for AOE buffs to allies but can easily go into melee if needed
In my eyes you made the right decision. Espacilly if you consider what Blizzard has become over the years. At least A-net has the same course as 10 years ago. Who knows what Blizz will fk up in the future lmao
do you truly know nothing about anet and thier chainholders ncsoft? or how gw2 is incomplete, and was or never will be completed? If you think blizz dipped thier hand in the cess, youre gonna be suprised when you look into anet and ncsoft.
Looking forward to your “I’m coming back to Wow” video 😂. Seriously though, I love Guild Wars 2 and that’s my primary MMO. I still sub to WoW, but I hardly ever log in.
I really enjoyed playing an Evoker and going the DF, after all I'm a BC Baby (quite literally, I was only 9 when I started playing WoW lol) but my biggest problem always came down to the actual leveling process. It's fun for the first time and maybe the second with a different class-- but long-term the grind is a pain when the world isn't updated in nearly 80% of the available content to the point that many models have gear issues where they have a cube instead of a chest piece. While I played GW1 and GW2, my game is ESO. It's one of the few MMO's I really enjoy, though I'll probably end up taking a break when the in-game shop eventually breaks my will to keep playing again (it's funny seeing people talk about Microsoft saving WoW and all I can think is that they are going to need to get used to the in-game shop being bloated to high hell.) I also saw the GW2 released Cantha, my favorite zone/expansion from GW1 when I went into DF, so who knows... maybe I'll grab Lu Ten He, my lovely Canthan necromancer that I made in GW2 and push through the content I had left in Heart of Thorns to see the Kaineng City and the Jade Sea again.
I like that I knew the answer to which you were dropping before I finished the video. GW2 is just plain better, you play it for fun, not out of obligation to catch up.
One thing you failed to mention is that GW2 is one of the few MMOs that allow you to convert in game currency into their in game store currency to buy those items. So you can farm game gold to purchase items from their gem stote for essentially free (just take some time but gold is easy to farm).
You can also do this in World of Warcraft. You can pay your subscription and buy Blizzard games by converting in-game currency to the Blizzard currency. You can play all of their games essentially using World of Warcraft gold if you had enough of it.
Playing world of warcraft for upwards of 15 years, and then going into guild wars 2 will give you whiplash, there is so much to unlearn. You can be in multiple guilds at the same time, gear doesn't matter all that much in PvP, there is no gear treadmill so your best-in-slot is your best in slot forever, and crafting is one of the only ways to get the most optimal gear. Raids are options, dungeons are optional, PvP is optional, open world content is a suggestion. I bounced OFF of gw2 the first five times I tried playing it because nothing made sense based on my understanding of WoW, it is the exact opposite of everything WoW is. The game, despite having an unlimited amount of things to do with its thousands of achievements, feels like it was designed for you to dip in and out whenever you want. WoW demands you come back at least once a week, GW2 doesn't care when you come back. Everything will be exactly the same since the last time you checked - save for expansions. It is absolutely dizzying going from WoW to GW2, I wouldn't blame anyone for getting confused bc you're trying to apply WoW logic to a horizontal casual MMO with no pressure and no timegates.
I quit WoW and started GW2 an year and something back... Not even to this day i have cleared all the content available, and is not one single day that I cand say i don't know what to do next. All the content is available at any time and still relevant. This is how MMORPGs should be. To bad they fall so short on the player base, because this is an underrated game. And like you said, the combat system, damn. And I hate PVP, but going in World vs World.. got me stuck in there 3 months after deciding to go back to my story.
You missed the most important part of GW2. The story line is better than any game I’ve played before. Any new player should start their story line immediately and continue on through the seasonal story. You can level learn your class and experience an amazing story alll at the same time. You won’t get that from any other mmo out there and to top it off you get to experience a ton of the story for free.
This is exactly the thing, your hard grinded gear can be thrown into the dustbin for a random green gear drop, in GW2 it’s really worth your time, and creating a Legendary is quiet a grind but it’s useable on all your characters, sort of heirloom on WoW
Guild Wars 2 is the drop in, drop out, time respecting MMO. Most MMO with the traditional subscription are a FOMO experience(fear of missing out). That's why most of the grind was paying the dues, either by dailes or attendance, or getting that one thing to auction off. All this can be fun its own way, but you eventually hit the wall every few months. You end up wanting to raid, but the further you end you get into, alt into, the more maintence of playing has to be done. All other games and recreation suffer, and life as well . All business do want business with you, and I get it, as all things need money to make the world go round. I haven't put a whole lot of business into Guild Wars 2, but nowadays, I do want to support them, so I will be using the $15 sub as a support now. But that's the beauty, I can be away and it'll still be there. The very team that built Guild Wars 2, made many good systems, good systems to follow even when those developers left. With SotO, I see it as a battle pass, but also I see some sort of grind system and daily system....but I don't feel the compulsion to do so, because I have everything sort of needs fulfilled(aside from getting ascended or legendary gear lol). The greeds or wanting of something(like the new Griffon skin) is a good addition, but I'm happy what I have- plus I can color my armor pretty good. Quality of life is sorely missing. For the MMO games I dabble with aside from GW2, Return of Reckoning, the private server of Warhammer Online 2008, though a bit crusty nor perfect, wanted to see that dark fantasy game world again.
Guild Wars 2 is Buy to Play game with best Free Trial on the mmorpg market which works both as your main game and secondary game as there is no subscription. For examples you can play current WoW or FFXIV Expansion and while you wait the next expansion you can enjoy GW2 on the side 👍 Or when you run out of things to do in GW2 you can just go play New World or Path of Exile while you wait next content patch to hit. Ofc the history shows that ANet has been slow at adding new content but they have been slowly ramping it up. Now GW2 is expecting 5th expansion next year and three quarterly updates which add new content for everyone. During this 4th expansion we should get total of three(?) Strikes and one Fractal as new content for those who seek Group-Content I'm sorry if you play PvP or WvW as I don't know the duck those guys get 🙃 beside balance patches, maybe.
Gw2. Two main reasons. Community in gw2 is friendly and non-toxic. I guess the reason for that is the foundation of the game is built around helping each other and not competing for loot. Secondly, the combat system is in my opinion far better…like miles better cause it’s about skill…not gear.
My first MMO was New World, but the game died nowadays, and I was searching a new game of that genre. Tried ESO, free trial of WoW and Gw2, like you also said, we got a job and don’t have much time to play everyday, so I also decided to join Gw2 and buy the DLC’s and explore the game on my own tempo, I’ve to learn alot but no stress for it 😂. Thanks for the vid, and have a nice day.
I just stumbled upon this video, will be subbing! I have played GW since GW1 back in 2005 at launch. It has been a been a long standing, all be it rocky, relationship with both games, but been at GW2 like yourself, since BETA. But, filled with love and nostalgia with friends (Who sadly, have taken to no longer playing) Still play GW1 to this day. GW2, most certainly for the PvE content when it drops. :D
DUDE as a ex-WoW player of MANY YEARS, moving to Guild Wars 2 was the best choice I ever made in my entire life. Not only are the characters wonderful, the progression respecting your time and effort, but ALSO saving a lot of money? Once I buy it, I OWN IT!! its an amazing game, my friend has played it for many years and at first I was skeptical but wow. It is my favorite MMO of all time.
I have gw1 characters older than my little sister... been there since the start with gw2 and grinded out gw1 to get the eye of the north bonuses in gw2. I love that I can stop playing for years at a time and come back like nothing happened. I wasn't thrilled with all of the newer content, but path of fire and season 4 are very worthwhile, the cantha one isn't terrible, haven't tried secrets yet. I'm on a break again, but will probably first come back for some casual map completion, just flying about on the sky scale for a bit now and then... maybe I need to finally unlock the griffin, seems fun.
WoW is easily my favorite MMO RPG of all time, but at the moment I'm enjoying Old School Runescape. Both games are very nostalgic for me, but I've been playing WoW much more consistently since it released in 2004.
It's very interesting how you saw the combat system in WoW, in my opinion, WoW has the singular best combat system in all MMOs i tried, it's one of the biggest reasons why I play WoW and how i was able to pull friends into it.
I recently came back to play WoW Hardcore Servers and I am enjoying it. I know that retail WoW sometimes can be overwhelming due to the amount of thing you have/can do at end game, but since hardcore vanilla WoW is about the leveling experience, I feel no pressure, (only when I pull more than two mobs lmao).
Played WoW since vanilla. I come back when a new expansion drops but I never stick around long. I played ff14 a LOT but I'm kinda worn out. Just picked GW2 up about a month ago and I've been having a blast. I've played 3 different classes with multiple specs so far and I legit can't figure out which one I like more because they're all so fun. I will admit, it is kinda annoying not being able to just WRECK things in past expansions like you do with most MMO's but I don't think it's a bad thing. Just something to get used too.
I have dabbled in many MMOs. 600 hrs in ESO, like 1k hrs in FFXIV, easily 1-2k hrs in Lotro, 500 hrs in Destiny 2, I don't know how many hrs in WoW, hundreds of hrs in DDO, thousands of hrs in GW1 but I always come back to GW2 where I am around 3-4k hrs now. It's just the best MMO in my opinion. It's the best value MMO that respects your time spent. Horizontal Progression is the way to go IMO, No Gear Tread-mill, No Sub fee making me feel like I need to play, so many innovative and original ideas like the Gliding and Mount System, and of course the best combat system IMO, though ESO felt pretty good too ngl. Lotro will also always have a special place in my heart but it really is mostly about the IP and world and not so much about the combat and gameplay with that one.
I got burnt out on Dragonflight (been playing WoW since 2005) and I stopped playing. Then I picked up Guild Wars 2 and enjoyed it. But I stopped cold turkey in my second month into GW2. Why? I realized I had spend $300 in ONE MONTH in GW2. This was buying inventory bag space (from the in-game shop) and the unbreakable axe and pick.
I build my first gaming pc in college just to play GW2, followed the instanced pvp before the game even launched, looked up everything. I got my necro to 80 and dabbled but enver tried an expansion. Might skip the war withing to look back and try all the GW2 content with some bros
I'm a Guild Master on Elder Scrolls Online, waiting for a new MMO to release. I've thought about playing other MMOs like Guild Wars 2, but if I'm being honest? I'd only play it to make a guild on that game too, and I'm sure there are plenty of already well-established guilds on GW2. So I think the best thing I can do for myself is just wait for a new MMO to release.
I love RPGs and grew up gaming (I am now 54) and GW2 by far has the best combat system and a PvP I actually enjoy especially in WvW!!! =) **Welcome Home**
Played WoW for a month hated the subscription model to just be able to continue playing the game since majority of MMORPGs nowadays offer free to play, but the feel that WoW gave me had me asking for more until a fellow streamer and a friend of mine introduced me to GW2. My take on this is that you can have all the features WoW gives even the in game premium store and get things you want to have for in-game currency conversion at the cost of just getting the expansion (any expansion), to be able to use the trading post and sending mails with attachments to friends, and the best part is that you can use ingame currency to purchase items from the premium store (e.g. Gold > Gems vice versa). I am loving the game as I play through it since even at max level you can still die to a level 15 mob/field boss as the game features a down scale on a players level to make it challenging for people who purchased the expansion and are new to the game. The story is definitely engaging, you make choices that affect the entirety of your gameplay and there is even a jump puzzle that you have to complete to get achievements aside from the other unlockables you get from exploring the map. The devs listen to the community which is a good fact.
I haven't paid for wow for a while. I throw on an audio book and farm for a few hours while listening to it. You can use in game currency for wows subscription (and even expansions) so audio books make my reading time grinding time lol
As a wow and gw2 player, play wow right from vanilla and Gw2 started on core, play until mid magumma, i can say, gw2 has better combat, better gear, but i wish we have more dificult things to do, more raids, more strikes more challenging Metas
Great video! Been juggling the same question as well between multiple MMORPGs; especially when all the MMORPGS that were supposed to come out in the first quarter of 2024 didn’t 😅. Awesome video! Earned a sub!
@moopliss I've come from WoW game and i'm interested play in GW2 but dont know which class for beginner will be good. I'm thinking about Guardian as Archer(Dragon Hunter) or Mesmer(Virtuoso) but don't know which is easier for a new player.
I played WoW since just before TBC, and through MoP, but less and less, until classic where I dived straight back in. I quit WoW after starting GW2, and while I miss WoW immensely, I really missed WoW already before quitting it, because I missed the old days. There's not much WoW does better than GW2 for me, except that one thing that you really get comfortable with an area, like Westfall or Duskwood, and it sets a certain mood, which is difficult in GW2 because you jump from area to area too easily. However, this getting to know an area came mostly from having to run back and forth for quests a hundred times and it took ages, which simply does not fly anymore, nobody can be arsed to do that. Some of the last times I logged into classic I logged out again. It's simply too cumbersome. And the way they have solved that problem is to make things ridiculously easy or absurdly illogical.
I don't have any friends that plays GW2, we just played it on release and I got bored pretty quick, for me was just completing maps- I really like to do wow content even is getting gear over and over again, and to do the highest lvl content you really need to know each mechanic and execute properly. Doing a +2 and normal raid doesn't really represents WoW end game for most. Also most ppl return to wow now and then so I have Friends to play with
I started WoW back in Wrath. By Mists I was sick of it. It took me until that thing with the Jailer to quit (fully). That's a long time to hate a game.
Exactly the same here. I was just curious about the game, and other players - in this situation how react. I did the same, uninstalled wow and now playing guild wars 2, the combat system is far better.
as someone who bounces between ffxiv wow and gw2 with gw2 probably being my least fave it is refreshing i can just jump in and play what i want when i want which has made it the best time killer and game i can jump into when im done playying my main which is ffxiv
Welcome to Tyria! I played gw for 7 years and will continue to do so! i have everthing i need from a game, and no need to spend much money on it. In life I have a small buiness, a kid, a dog, and i can combine everything playing guild wars every night. I still love it since the start.
Its all about your goals. I've played GW2 for about 19 years and like a month of WOW lol they each have their pro and con. We have less pedigree and resources so no cgi and barely any cinematics but we do have a friendly base, dedicated devs, and no sub with content coming every month and also more every 3 months now.
1 I'm gonna drop one of these games 2 What I LIKED the most in WoW WAS 3 I LOOK FORWARD to trying challenge strikes. Oh! Oh! I know the answer to this one!! Good choice.
The difference between Gw2 and WoW is the skill required. Harder content requires you to do your rotation while dodging/while doing mechanics.. I feel that in WoW its very controlled, and while good groups can usuall control situations.. shit does tend to happen where you've gotta change shit up on the fly. And while you're not farming for better gear after a certain point, you will be changing the type of gear/your proffession/your spec/and your playstyle.. And being an amazing player (Doing amazing dps/being good support/healing ect) is difficult, it can be a lot of on the fly thinking when shit goes wrong.. or even keeping your dps rotation going when shit goes wrong lol
After years of playing WOW I got tired of the grind. I was thinking of trying GW2. After watching your video I am about to go make an account. Hope to see you there.
its veeeery good
It's good and definitely worth a try for the price point. My only gripes with it are the "transmog" system is a minor ding every time you use it, even if you do get drip fed transmutation stones, and the role-play elements you see in WoW and FFXIV simply don't exist. There isn't even a proper /sit last I checked.
hope you didnt like wow for the endgame, because if you did, you will not like gw2 very much after a month or two
@@littleman6950 have you seen novelties tab in gw2? :)
@@littleman6950 you actually have chairs to sit on gw2
I recently started GW2, coming from WOW that I had played for years. There is so much to explore and enjoy about GW2, I think that's where I'm going to be staying for a long time. I'm tired of grinding through WOW, only to have to do it again and again.
Welcome to GW2!!
Do you still play?
I discovered your channel like many others through your discovery of WoW.
Like you, I (we I guess) don't have as much free time as I used to when I started WoW in 2007.
I never played GW2, but I'm happy sticking around playing WoW and discovering GW2 via your videos, should be a blast !
Sending love from France.
I'm an evolved gamer. MMOs are my seasonal homes I rotate on. Why choose just one when my mains are kissing?
it would be great to hear which season goes with each MMORPG that you play ⛄🌸☀🍂
I started playing GW2 a few weeks ago and I already cancelled my Wow sub, GW2 is amazing!
welcome to tyria :D
@@SemiMute unfortunately, I got bored and stopped playing :(
Really hope this Guild Wars 2 small hype train keeps chugging along. Just became a new player coming from 10+ years of WoW and most recently 2k hours in New World. Really sucks I didn't try GW2 before but DAMN am I happy I did.
Welcome to Tyria!
Let's spread GW2's existence to popularity, and hope its playerbase grows higher
They still have big story plans and expansions coming out we still don't know what scared the karka, krait, quaggain, and largos from their ocean home land and if you go to the world map and go far to the left there part of a land mass popping out. The game has been having a pretty big influx of new players as well even though the game never advertises.

gw2: we do care about your time and you.
wow: stand still and push buttons

Enjoy the game and Big hug Moopliss!
sorry about the weird instant hate comments
I havent played wow in 2 months. 2 months ago I gave gw2 a shot and I can't get enough of it.
I don't think you're gonna miss WoW that much honestly. I come back every couple years and it's the same game with better graphics. Fun to dive in every couple years, not something I'd play regularly.
+ the community is worse every time xD?
@@ervinfejes9942That's crazy talk. I just got back on wow and only got yelled at like 4 times today. lmao

so uh yeah, great community in wow 10/10
I joined gw2 a few days ago and I really love that I can play whenever I want without the feeling of "you payed 13 euros you need to play only this game".. I love to play other games too, cozy planet zoo or subnautica again or some overwatch. With gw2 I can join whenever I want and leave for some time to play other games and thats a great feeling of freedom :) and the community is so much better... no young men that ask sexual questions, no toxic people when you dont know the mechanics, it just feels good. Hope this feeling holds on and I will have a lot of fun time in the game.. the only thing I dont like is, its very expensive at the beginning, all the living story, the bank upgrades, the bag slots etc... but as now I plan to farm some gold and buy it that way :) sorry for the makers of gw2 but I dont have that much money to spend, if so I would because I really like what they did ^^
Blizzard wants u to be hooked on their game like crack addicts, they really dont value your time
Yes it can be expensive to buy all on start but fortunately you don't need to do it.
On the other hand, you can play WvW,PvP (which can be really difficult as a first timer) and get fast gold too.
gonna download just to be toxic and ask sexual questions to ppl rn
I've been playing guild wars 2 for over the past 5 years (roughly 4500 of playtime so far) and I still can't get enough of it. love that game
GW2 for the win in my books. Real life respect with horizontal progression. No gear grind. Alt Friendly. Don't have to fight over loot. No monthly cost.
as a youtuber you have a lot of courage sticking to your values... man those views.
Seems like GW2 is more twink-friendly.
This video made you earn a subs for me, I'm a vet wow player... Started playing with 13 years and now I'm 24 and with full job and responsibilities, wow seems a bit overwhelming cause u have to constantly gear up to keep up. So I'm considering trying gw2
Holy moly since you were 13, how much money have you spend on wow?
@@kriggo1 all I've played was private servers, so in total below 100usd
WoW to me is that game that I can play with my friends to raid once a week and log into whenever I want. Due to raiding the gear grind doesnt stop, but I think I will be trying GW2 for the 2nd time (I bought it on launch)
I want to explore something new.
Wow is like crack and blizzard is the dealer

I just finished my third core map clear and I believe I reasonably disagree lol.
that thing for me is that wow is the only mmo that truly feels like another world, the size and going with no loading screens, unmatched feeling
@@sgt.bonkers8706 wow, that was very complete, i really am curious and wanting to try gw2, your comment really sounded inviting haha, thanks!
I agree. Guild wars 2 is fun but the world feels kind of jank.
The father of mmos isent wow, that's everquest.
Guild wars 2 is my favorite MMORPG for me. Really complete, qualitative, dynamic gameplay, and the universe is... soothing.
Gw1 is a masterpiece 9/10
i'm playing WOW because its more hardcore i felt very empty when playing gw2 doesnt know what to do because i dont like doing tidies achivements
to me wow respect my time because the more time i invest the more powerful i became compare to gw2
Technically Zhaitan was the first one to be killed, but I think I know what you're getting at and it's worthwhile ;P
i also have played wow since BoA but one thing that always annoyed me is that often gear grind on this game.
Pvp in GW2 is so satisfying especially because the combat is just very smooth quick allows me to move my elementalist like a storm/blizzard 😅
I played a lot of Both, and I take breaks. I swap between one then another as I burn out. TBH, I am trying out D4 and it feels very GW2 for me.
I like that I knew the answer to which you were dropping before I finished the video. GW2 is just plain better, you play it for fun, not out of obligation to catch up.
Well put comparisons, i feel drawn back to gw2 more oftan than wow myself too, but couldnt really put my finger on why
But I don't need a subscription to do it in GW2. I only pay upfront once per expansion.
Maybe it's time to reinstall GW2 after all these years since launch...
just dust off your character a bit, you should be good to go with that exotic gear💪
Your GW2 cosplay characters never fails to amaze me 😂❤
You missed the most important part of GW2. The story line is better than any game I’ve played before. Any new player should start their story line immediately and continue on through the seasonal story. You can level learn your class and experience an amazing story alll at the same time. You won’t get that from any other mmo out there and to top it off you get to experience a ton of the story for free.
no lol
May be apples for Tybalt in heaven
If you're looking for a good story in a game might I suggest FF14. It's story and music is leagues above any other mmo.
@@rlrj81 except the storytelling is not that great
@@droiid6547 I couldn't disagree more.
All other games and recreation suffer, and life as well
.
Sounds like you're ancient and need better games.
Guild Wars 2 is Buy to Play game with best Free Trial on the mmorpg market which works both as your main game and secondary game as there is no subscription.
For examples you can play current WoW or FFXIV Expansion and while you wait the next expansion you can enjoy GW2 on the side 👍
Or when you run out of things to do in GW2 you can just go play New World or Path of Exile while you wait next content patch to hit.
Ofc the history shows that ANet has been slow at adding new content but they have been slowly ramping it up.
Now GW2 is expecting 5th expansion next year and three quarterly updates which add new content for everyone.
During this 4th expansion we should get total of three(?) Strikes and one Fractal as new content for those who seek Group-Content
I'm sorry if you play PvP or WvW as I don't know the duck those guys get 🙃 beside balance patches, maybe.
Dunno why this people are being mean, its your choice my man, don't listen to then.
Currently im playing FFXIV the lore is pretty captivating.
final fantasy 14 is on my radar to try👀which class do you play?
@@moopliss Dragoon, big jumps and cool visuals haha
It is my favorite MMO of all time.
lol you don't own anything if you buy live service expansion
Spoiler alert PvP matches take hours to actually find a match on wow
It's very interesting how you saw the combat system in WoW, in my opinion, WoW has the singular best combat system in all MMOs i tried, it's one of the biggest reasons why I play WoW and how i was able to pull friends into it.
Atta boy, proud of you. Wow is the clickbait of the online gaming world.
I recently came back to play WoW Hardcore Servers and I am enjoying it. I know that retail WoW sometimes can be overwhelming due to the amount of thing you have/can do at end game, but since hardcore vanilla WoW is about the leveling experience, I feel no pressure, (only when I pull more than two mobs lmao).
i started GW2 after long years in Lineage II and Wow and i rly love it...i love the open world system mostly on gw2
**Welcome Home**
Guild wars 2 is better than retail wow, classic wow and guild wars 2 would be a better comparison.
Earned a sub!
isekai anime has got me interested in MMORPGs again. its been about 8 years since i last played one properly
@moopliss I've come from WoW game and i'm interested play in GW2 but dont know which class for beginner will be good. I'm thinking about Guardian as Archer(Dragon Hunter) or Mesmer(Virtuoso) but don't know which is easier for a new player.
Guardian in general is one of the easiest classes to learn as a new player! Mesmer is harder
You made a good choice, brother. Subscribed!
So, we can all agree that GW2 is superior in every single aspect right?
you made a really good choice mate! i decided the same and am much happier in gw2 since
I don't have any friends that plays GW2, we just played it on release and I got bored pretty quick, for me was just completing maps- I really like to do wow content even is getting gear over and over again, and to do the highest lvl content you really need to know each mechanic and execute properly. Doing a +2 and normal raid doesn't really represents WoW end game for most. Also most ppl return to wow now and then so I have Friends to play with
Thanks for your honesty and actual thoughts on both games. Very unbiased. Just subbed to you for that reason
22:22 whoa! you can do that?
insane, i know. developers have to patch this feature ASAP😅
1 I'm gonna drop one of these games
2 What I LIKED the most in WoW WAS
3 I LOOK FORWARD to trying challenge strikes.
Oh!
They announced that gw2 will have a 5th expac and they are working on it
I've played WoW for 17 years and recently quit and I doubt I will going back. So I am looking into other MMO's.
