- Seattle Children's patient Sahana Ramesh, 16, died of a rare disease in 2021. Her parents say their concerns were disregarded because of their race.
Just a terrible story. That family begged for help several times and were turned away or ignored. So tragic for that little girl and her parents.
The parents really advocated for their child to be taken care of. The hospital ignored and they should be liable for the outcome.
Don’t stop fighting for your daughter!
Seattle Children’s provided better care to my black child than Valley or Overlake. I was told to leave the urgent care because there is nothing they could do for my child.
I'm sure every provider doesn't behave inappropriately but I worked at Children's for years and they do have a problem, mostly starts with higher ups and trickles down.

This very well might be the case in the reasonings for the lack of treatments for their beautiful wonderful little angel daughter. I had similar experiences with my daughter concerning treatment questions that never got answered as well. I had been referred by her neurologist to there and not a single person ever returned any of my calls or emails neither. My children are Native American and white on the paperwork but they look all white. Perhaps that was a reason for the lack of responses. This was around 8 years ago now. I eventually stopped trying to reach out to that hospital centers after about 8 months of absolutely no responses. My daughter is now 13 years old and cannot attend schools in person bc of having seizures at a few different schools that they were aware of and they did nothing to help her nor would acknowledge her special needs being she has seizures in schools. The schools do not allow her seizure medicine on school grounds even with a drs note from the neurologist.
I have experienced racism with my child in seattle childrens hospital they treat black and brown kids differently.
Sure it wasn’t a severe reaction to the clot shot?

@@ruturaj47I'm a person in the sciences and pro-vaccine ... but if this young woman was brought into my hospital with these symptoms, I would definitely check for vaccine injury (adverse event), especially in 2021, amongst a host of other potential problems.
No drug or vaccine is 100% safe for all people.
The OP doesn't help their cause by their description but they are correct to think there may be a connection.
Sadly, by people taking such staunch sides on this issue, people are being dismissed and not properly cared for when an AE does arise.

Care was insufficient for a highly regarded hospital. The hospitals leadership has supported a racist culture, so the lack of care proves this, right? Were procedures followed in the care of the child? Was the care provided substandard? Do they just not care about the health and wellbeing of children, or just some children?
Ridiculous
I don't know how it is now, but back in the day I can attest we experienced racism. There was lack of serious concern. I'm sure there are many other families that will say the same.
