For the use I got out of the M2c as a daily (mainly) it was harsh , rough ride although very tight handling and in the winter was useless and in the wet couldn’t get traction off the lights when you put your foot down (even a 1.1 fiesta would beat you in the wet) …..the warranty was due to run out so another £90 pcm and the insurance between both has halved now …so it’s not all black and white in theses decisions

Absolutely love the thing. Okay I’ve had it just under 3 weeks from brand new but still. It’s enough time to fall in major love ❤️
I’m a huge fan of the previous gen of these, I’ve owned 3 of them, a M235i and two M240i s. Glad to see BMW has decided to replace it. I went to see one at the recent showroom launch and came away thinking I’m in no rush to change mine. I’m sure it’s probably better to drive, maybe has a better interior (dials excepted), but, as Matt commented, it’s quite a bit more expensive and I personally prefer the looks of the old one, not to mention it’s got much more usable rear seats. I accept practicality may not be top of every coupé buyer’s list, but you can get adults in the back of the old one at a push, something that’s virtually impossible in the new one, due to a lack of both headroom and legroom. That’s despite it being bigger. As someone who occasionally needs to carry three in the car, that just rules the new one out straight away. All recent coupé BMWs seem more compromised in this regard and it’s a shame. You used to be able to have looks and practicality (E92 for example), now it seems you can’t. The i4 is terrible in the back too, even with its 5 doors. I do wonder how much faster the new one is over the old one too. That extra 220kgs must blunt the performance, especially as this new one has an extra 30 odd horsepower, but no more torque. I’m sure the 4 wheel drive helps off the line and it may even be geared differently, but it would be interesting to see how they compare once rolling, say 30-70mph. It wouldn’t surprise me if the old car was faster (in dry conditions at least).
Stick with the F22 the styling is miles better and like you say once rolling the x-drive will hinder performance, I'm sticking with my m235i for the time being 👍🏻
To anyone chatting crap about the design, I promise you that these look a lot better in person, the videos and pictures don’t do it justice. And anyway, the monstrosity that is the new m2 actually makes this controversial m240 look better

What this thing is capable of, with only 3.0l displacement, is just nuts!
You do realise it’s only 3.0 because of gay ass rules if it wasn’t they would’ve ended making a 3.5 inline six and also forget about 3.0 it’s about how many cylinders you have ffs different cylinder size means displacement different size for example a v8 3.0 is considered small where a 4 cylinder 3.0 is big

This and the BMW M340i both put out less power in the UK, in my country they put out about 387HP, maybe because of emissions. Also in my country both these can be fitted with an M Performance exhaust package with sound awesome.
Cars in Uk have emissions even a Rs6 don't have rev limiter in my country
Saw someone Dyno one in the uk the other day and it was putting out 400bhp as standard
Agree that the lack of manual and RWD option is pants, but the exhaust note and lack of soft limiter are both surprisingly nice.
The base M240i is RWD idk what you’re talking about. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, x drive M240i is 4.1 seconds.
Despite being the overall most practical and better performing, the Audi is also the most affordable where I live so there's not really any reason to consider anything other than Audi.

Stick with the F22 the styling is miles better and like you say once rolling the x-drive will hinder performance, I'm sticking with my m235i for the time being 👍🏻
Looks like a pretty nice car: fast but also practical. Another entertaining and informative review. Thanks!
