3:15 Please Jakub, leave that argument to the ignorants and praise Toyota's commitment to make things possible & within their brand specs & vision, 3 more years waiting in this time rush to electrification would have meant NO SUPRA, same thing with GT86, if joint ventures do not happen, these dream cars and affordable cars would have not become a reality and would have died in the profiable imposibility of days past. Now on the Supra itself, same engine but completely different product: tunning, weight distribution, drag coeficient and much more stuff to consider. besides the particular benefits of that specific engine that fits Supra Performance, bro let show appreciation where is due, WE HAVE A REAL SUPRA BEFORE THE DOOM OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION, not up in the wall regretting what could've been
Couldn’t agree more. All the companies are transitioning from ICE so Toyota has to put more R&D on hydrogen and EVs they can’t make a Supra on their own and profit it. They did do different tuning on the Supra and it’s nice to see Yuri mentioned how they wanted the engine placed an inch back to achieve 50:50 weight distribution since Z4s were known to be front heavy. In a way, the Supra helped the current Z4 become more sportier than its predecessors.
And coming in a manual this year, I agree as well. Toyota would have never made this car without BMW and if they did it would have been in the 6 figures.
@@PabsEscobar also it's not like bmw doesn't make good sporty engines. I mean people are upset it isn't a Jz but bmw actually have a better track record on high performance engines. The legendary F1 McClaren has a bmw engine.
If you want a 2 seater buy the supra . If you want a 2 door four seater coupe buy the bmw. Out of the two I prefer the supra ... Not a fan of either to the point of handing over my hard earned money. Thanks for the fun review as I found the comparison interesting . Keep up the fine effort
I'm cross shopping the two. Thank you for doing this. Only one comes in purple. Purple is my favorite color. I'll let you guess which I'm leaning towards.
I've driven a few cars in my day, and I prefer RWD everytime in the winter. a little gas, loosen the grip of the steering wheel and you're going straight again lol. So much more fun... then again, My outback XT is a blast too
I winter daily-drove my modded BMW 135i for 10 years in Boston winters. It's 100% fine if you know how to drive in the snow and put dedicated winter tires on.
One of the reasons why I chose it. Especially around where I live. I'm the only 1 with not just the G42 but also this color. (Also already have a downpipe installed, awaiting for someone to make exhaust now). But the supra is way more common, sure they are cool. But its just not the same.
I don’t get what Toyota people complain about. The b58 is a seriously great engine. The days of rb and jz are long since passed. The engines that will be big tuner engines will fs be bmw turbo engines, I imagine the b58 is gonna be a top contender for years to come.
Yuri, good thumbnail choice Yuri. Jakub read my mind and dressed for the lawyer part, so extra points to Jakub. Car Review Court comparisons are very entertaining. Good stuff. Keep it up boys 👍
That’s the only reason my brother chose not to buy one. They are losing customers, but I guess they don’t care since the 3 series and 4 series have it. It just strikes me as a way of forcing you to spend more money.
I have 2022 M240i in BG with shadowline. I debated between the supra premium and this BMW, but ultimately went with the m240i. I daily this car for work, a lot of highway miles and city driving. Overall, the m240i met my needs of creature comforts while giving me access to the beans when I want it still. The tail is still happy to slide out on corners when I give it as well, so it's super fun still. As was mentioned, the m240i really just feels like a more refined car around the b58 and zf while the Supra is a much more in your face i'm here for the fun type of car.
I can’t get used to this format yet. It’s confusing to read between the lines for each comment and try to figure out if they really mean what they’re saying or if it’s for the sake of defending.
Honestly, I'm in love with the M240i since the first came out, I want that car to be mine someday! And this new version is clearly the best the retro-coupé-design, more angular more square like the oldschool coupé it's perfect. The Supra on the other hand just wear a big body kit , nothing is real on that car, such a desilusion, vents are fake, you ain't got no back seats, no room on the inside, the interior is a BMW also, the engine is a BMW the gearbox it's also a BMW... Cmon.
I have to admit that there's some things about the M240i, preferably the looks which is not exactly what I'm favoring for, I prefer the Supra even though it does have BMW bits, but still, I can't help but feel pity for lawyer Jacob for struggling to defend the M240i even though himself and Yuri agrees some things on the BMW that isn't right.
I think it's funny that everyone more or less agrees the bmws styling is weird, but in like 10 or 15 years when every new bimmer has a blocked out buck tooth grille, we'll look back at this as one of the last normalish BMW with rose tinted shades.
The engine cover swap was great!!🤣🤣Lets be honest. The only thing Toyota about the new Supra are the badges. Everything else about the car is BMW thru n thru. Both great cars tho. I’d own either one.
I really like all of the content you guys produce. But I’m really not feeling the whole “court” thing, where we have to defend everything about the car rather than just review it and compare it. Feels too forced to me to defend everything no matter what rather than just give a comparison on each. That’s just me though, keep up the great work.
Love your channel guys and I've been watching for years, but not grooving to these lawyer comparisons. Others may agree or not and thats cool and will keep watching the regular reviews, just providing my honest feedback should it be useful. Cheers.
The new m240i is the most insane bang for your buck car in this market and especially in BMWs lineup. Why pay 10k more for a similar spec 340i when the m240i does everything the same or better? The upcoming G87 m2 is going to have some insane statistics I just know it. Getting a fully loaded (with all luxury features and packages that are significant) on a sub 4 second 0-60 car at 59-60k OTD (and this is with bay area sales tax rates) is pretty crazy for BMW and it's only going to get better from here.
Agreed. Have one going into production soon. The car is beautiful in person. This video of the dirty purple and blacked out wheels do it no justice. I was on the fence based on the pictures I saw, but in person, it is great.
@@brianb7844 Don't really like the purple option. Mine is also about to go into prod. I chose blue on red with the shadowline pkg as it was the spec I was looking at for a 340i, but like I said I didn't see a reason to shell out an extra 10k on the 340

I had my heart set on the Supra, then drove it. Felt way to cramped inside, the pillars were murderous getting in/out and the lack of any interior storage is a joke like the cup holder placement. So, practicality won and I now own a M240i and could NOT be happier!
You are middle aged, overweight and work in real estate. A sports car is not a good look for a chubby dude with a generic, dull career...you wouldn't be able to pull that off. BMW/Audi was made for drones like you 👍
Exactly my sentiment. The few things the Supra had is some people prefer the looks over the M240i, and that it’s RWD & can be had in a Manual. The BMW is better in every other way. Huge boot for its class, even taller adults can fit in the back seats. You could easily carry a family of four on holiday in this sports coupe in relative comfort. AWD means it is literally faster than a full RWD M2 (0-60 sub 3.8seconds). It has excellent visibility, a nicer interior then the Supra AND it does all this while somehow being cheaper than the Toyota. Yet everyone will buy the Supra.
Glad you got to a track, not much new here is this side by side. I agree the supra is amazing looking for sure, but I went for the 240 because of AWD winter driving in hill country.
The actual story is: Toyota and BMW collaborated on putting the same engine in the Toyota Supra and Z4. BMW sent the engines (both the 6 cylinder B58 and the B48 engines and Toyota sent back a laundry list of improvements both engines would need before being approved for use in either the Supra 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder. These engines are now found on Mini, almost all BMW vehicles from 2,3,4,5 series sedans and X1, X2, X3, X4. The two engines are going to be very reliable. There are even kits to make even the least expensive 2, 3, 4 and X1, X2, X3 and X4 engines more powerful with just a bit of tuning. Over 300HP and 350 TQ! There are numerous companies that make chips or canned software programs with preconfigured optimized and tested maps that will give you the power upgrade for about $300 to $500. Enough power to make it difficult to justify the bigger engine and more importantly you can even get better gas mileage by changing maps. Yuri wins....

@@senoow4215 agree
The Supra and CIvic type R are in a battle for who has more fake scoops. 240i all day, NO FAKE SCOOPS!
@@postalpancho the new Civic Type R isn't even out yet, and I'm pretty sure it will have less fake vents because of the controversy. So Toyota wins!
@@jc_so_riyl 240i is a better daily. 99% of the comment section doesn’t even track their cars. The 240i is better all around. The Supra isn’t easy to live with, doesn’t have space, costs more, and can’t carry more than 2 people. M240i Wins in all the categories that actually count.
This is one of the most agreed on comment section i've ever seen on a car video
Hahhah
If you want a 2 seater buy the supra . If you want a 2 door four seater coupe buy the bmw. Out of the two I prefer the supra ...
Not a fan of either to the point of handing over my hard earned money.
Thanks for the fun review as I found the comparison interesting . Keep up the fine effort
The comparison we've been waiting for
I'm cross shopping the two. Thank you for doing this. Only one comes in purple. Purple is my favorite color. I'll let you guess which I'm leaning towards.
the title of the vid is gold 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
I've driven a few cars in my day, and I prefer RWD everytime in the winter. a little gas, loosen the grip of the steering wheel and you're going straight again lol. So much more fun... then again, My outback XT is a blast too
I winter daily-drove my modded BMW 135i for 10 years in Boston winters. It's 100% fine if you know how to drive in the snow and put dedicated winter tires on.
Car review court is friggin awesome!! Now others are gonna steal this idea and still somehow end up with more subscribers..
The B58 powertrain has alot of potential and I can't wait to be an owner of one... hopefully 440i 🤞🏿
The m440i is really nice
It burns oil bad, good luck!
It does! Welp, what else is new about bmw!?
@@HoMiE327 at least BMW works on BMW engines... Toyota working on them? Yikes
I just got the 340i
The intro at 1.75x speed is INTENSE.
i'd go with m240i for the purple alone - rare to see such a gorgeous color stock
I have a 2022 3.0 Premium and love the love and hate that comes with it.
m240i for me, I love the muscle car look it has.
Same here. I'm really debating getting one. Too bad the M2 is coming out in 2023. Just makes the decision that much harder
Been waiting for this comparison
BMW removed the driver assistance package as an option on the M240i so as of now you can't get adaptive cruise...
Oh damnnnnn
That’s the only reason my brother chose not to buy one. They are losing customers, but I guess they don’t care since the 3 series and 4 series have it. It just strikes me as a way of forcing you to spend more money.
@@CG-rb4xo My 2022 I ordered in February got delayed and is now a 2023. Adaptive cruise is now an option again and im getting it in mine.

that intro music is 🔥
Goddamn that intro sequence is amazing!

It would also be interesting to see the Supra versus the Z4. Perhaps with both engine options too.
I needed this video!
Thanks guys, getting my Supra by the end of the month 🙏🏽
You’re gonna love it
I can’t get used to this format yet. It’s confusing to read between the lines for each comment and try to figure out if they really mean what they’re saying or if it’s for the sake of defending.
Lol ya eh but like we’re having fun ☺️
Tbh, the car icon in the gauge cluster reminds me of a Toyota Camry instead of a BMW
Cmon.
toyota and BMW share their technology. toyota used their engine so BMW could use their hybrid/electric technology
I love this style of video ! It's so funn
BMW bits? Lol, it's a BMW that passes through the Toyota car wash.
BMW bits? Like the whole car?
@@cdb5001 well, that body isn't BMW's at least.
@@TrevForPresident is the body shell's BMW?
Yet again another kickass soundtrack for the intro! Awesome show, great job!
The engine cover swap was great!!🤣🤣Lets be honest. The only thing Toyota about the new Supra are the badges. Everything else about the car is BMW thru n thru. Both great cars tho. I’d own either one.
Thank you for the comparison!!!
I really like all of the content you guys produce. But I’m really not feeling the whole “court” thing, where we have to defend everything about the car rather than just review it and compare it. Feels too forced to me to defend everything no matter what rather than just give a comparison on each. That’s just me though, keep up the great work.
but the legal cliches go well with cliche corner
I didn’t even have to watch the video and I’m already lovin the intro😂
I'd pick the 2 series tbh. Both are fantastic, however
Great video. I never thought M240i was GR Supra's twin
Love your channel guys and I've been watching for years, but not grooving to these lawyer comparisons. Others may agree or not and thats cool and will keep watching the regular reviews, just providing my honest feedback should it be useful. Cheers.
I agree, but I also think it adds a fun spin to it lol, but I prefer more the previous format they used when comparing two cars at the same time
Thanks. We have a lot of fun doing this to change it up
@@TheStraightPipes I can definitely tell! It's fun to watch you guys just be yourselves
This is the best car comparison concept ever.
the car comparisons are cool, i could live without the lawyer/court angle...
Great drive guys all the way from South Africa
I chose blue on red with the shadowline pkg as it was the spec I was looking at for a 340i, but like I said I didn't see a reason to shell out an extra 10k on the 340
Was going to ask about the blue. Is the blue that BMW blue that I always see? I'm looking to maybe own one of these, I've yet to go to a dealer.
@@r.j4925 The blue is available on many differnt bmws now adays, it's called portimao blue. You can see it on the configurator. It's probably the best blue bmw offers out of the factory these days

I'm not a fan of the court/solicitor/lawyer format but a good review.
Honestly the Supra looks so batmobile-esque. I’d take it over the BMW just for the looks!
Fact: The new Supra is a Toyota and a BMW. That’s because Toyota and BMW worked together to make the Supra.
240 4 me. Easier engine bay to work in, better blindside view, not as common to see as the Supra.
Finally some forward facing footage of cliche corner 🙌 👌
I would go with the m240I but not in purple
WHY?
@@Soul_Flow_ I live in the North East, it's more practical, and I don't like the look!

Awesome video guys. Your channel is really up there with the greats now, congratulations!
We the jury find the defendant (the Supra) GUILTY at being the better car!!!
Coming from a BMW fan boy
The bit about the exhaust tips is a great way to summarize what's wrong with the 2-series's styling and was also very funny.
Also the cupholder placement seems to be a thing with Toyotas. In my 2016 Lexus IS I had the same problem. The cupholders were right where the passenger would rest their arm and were so far back, it was difficult to grab a drink.
For me its the first good looking BMW. Its very japanese like. The M2 with the bodykit is even better
I'd love to see a mashup between you guys and Linus given the amount of tech you guys must use
After todays Up to Speed, definitely Supra!
As much as I adore the box test, I want to see them try to put a kids car seat in the back of that bmw! Like full on, how much of a pain is it to get a car seat in that thing?
Have one in mine. It wasn't that bad but wouldn't want to be taking it in and out that's for sure.
Ive heard its a bit of a pain
@@Jorge-dw8pb Well it is a two door coupe afterall so it's not going to be as easy as something with four doors.
@@redsiricer yeah, im not sure why people are really using kids car seats in a 2 door sports coupe. If you have kids and its your only car you should probably get the m340i instead. Nonetheless its possible therefore people will do it.

Haha! Fun video. Former m235 owner and Supra driver. 1000% loving the Supra more, It’s the best car BMWs ever sold :P
Please stop this lawyer/trial stuff. Your regular reviews are awesome
I’m sad to say this, as a bmw fanboy, but that M240 is ugly as hell.
I have to respectfully disagree. The new BMWs with that ugly ass grill are horrific.
Glad you got to a track, not much new here is this side by side. I agree the supra is amazing looking for sure, but I went for the 240 because of AWD winter driving in hill country.
I got the m240i just cuz it’s cheaper. Ima also give it a real exhaust pipes some m performance parts and tune the engine to 500+hp
This one is hilarious! Good job guys!
