After due diligence homework researching, I bought my M240i in Dec 2023. Portimao Blue Metallic Cognac Interior. Loving it. Took a bit to get used to the IDrive 8 system ... once done, got her set the way I like. Love being able to have the car start at a specific time each day using the BMW App. I haven't noticed any of the things you mentioned about the steering. Seems really tight and responsive to me. The run flats surprised me. Expected a hard/firmer ride feel. Really loving the fact that I get no wind noise when on the highway. Don't mind the premium fuel use. I can only fault one thing...don't care for the piano black trim items. Been running in comfort mode most of the time. Yes, I can confirm that I'm getting 26/27 mph combined. Now, here's the bit I'm most happy about. What I spent out of pocket. After getting a military discount ... telling the dealership that there were things I wasn't going to pay for ... I.E. dealer addon's, markup's, prep fees etc. and getting $20,000.00 dollars for my 2020 Jetta SEL Premium ( I only paid $27,000.00) ... I wrote a check for and had the car bought and paid for while still setting on the showroom floor ... I paid $35,600.00 dollars. Tax, license and reg included. Yes ... loving my very first BMW. My reward to myself for life well lived and jobs well done. Thanks for the upload and review.
Same position as you - my first new BMW here. Built and ordered a 230i in November 2023, Melbourne red with Cognac, with M sport kit, dynamic handling package (brakes, suspension) and E-sport LSD, added adaptive cruise. Built it how I wanted, no military discount. I paid just over $50,000. I never drove a M240i, never had a B58 car to compare it to, and think I could have probably bought a M240i. Would it be worth it? I don't know. The car picks up and goes, and very fun to drive. Now I am doing a few mods to get some power out of the engine. But I'll tell you one thing - there was not a single M240i available where I was so I could test drive it.
@@cliff8669 Thank you. I agree I 100% would. I don't know where you are located - here in Western PA at exactly the same time last year - I could NOT find a used g42 m240i that was RWD, not black. - not even out of state. Otherwise I'd buy it if it was at the 50k mark. I wasn't even able to find any g42 for a test drive. They may be everywhere on youtube but rare in real life. So 10k less and a smaller engine that I can mod a bit and enjoy.
I have one in purple, red interior, black wheels, all blacked out, every option offered. 380 hp is prolly right, it's tuned a bit boring out of the box. Even S+ doesn't offer an insane twitch when you throttle. I want it more jumpy and responsive but... After a tune, or bypass, it's 450 and you can def feel it. What a great daily in the dry, wet and snow. Oh, Valvetronic exhaust is nice too and the Adro ATR3 wing.
I owned this for a year before getting the G87 M2 and this is an awesome car. I wish they would give you an option of the 6 speed manual. Disclaimer: I have the 8 speed auto ZF in the M2. I've owned 16 years of cars with manual transmissions and I wanted a daily without clutching thru traffic for once. The ZF is too good in the M2.
@@speeddemonRS3 imo its the "only thing" future generations of this car/segment will see as far as "generational" upgrades...m packages for brakes/suspension/e dif....and a DCT vs being more than willing to find one of these used down the road be it B58 or a modified 4cyl...And the majority found at a lower price/point will no doubt be ZF8's. Either way if it was a DCT/optioned as an m-sports upgrade or an M-Car standard transmission....i figure the +option pricing for something like this would see 5000$ if not 8000$ included in a m/package that comes with head lights or suspension etc. The way they are now package/option gating the 2024 230i....into you may as well get a m240i pricing.
I flogged the crap out of one of these on an autocross circuit one day at BMW's PC in Thermal. INSANE car for the money, nothing can touch it IMO. Same or better 0-60 vs the M2, for $15k U.S. cheaper. Style is subjective, but I like it exterior & interior wise over the current M2 styling. Tis a damn shame one can't get this with a manual. If I could get a manual in this I'd be zero decision between a M240 & the M2. As it is now I'm struggling with which way to go.
Love my 24’ Melbourne Red M240’. Perfect for weekends out with my wife, very comfortable, great technology, and honestly too much power for most roads. I added the MPE at the port and it sounds great too! Two big thumbs up!
Have gone from a 335i manual coupe (run flats were harsh) to a M235i (way cheaper/quicker and lots of fun) to a M240i X Drive - which was not much more than the M235i - but an immeasurably better car in every aspect. Brutal accelleration and hold off on making your mind on the styling until you see one in the flesh,so to speak. No need for a M2 unless you are on track days regularly. There is no other 2 door performance coupe on the market in this price sector that compares.
How much of the HVAC or radio is adjustable from the steering wheel (if at all)? I don't like trying to fiddle with screen controls when driving. Yeah old fashioned tech was better....
I waited almost 12 months and it was worth the wait . I’ve owned BMWs for the last 15 years , everything from 335i, E90 M3 and F80 M3 and this car is the perfect blend of performance and comfort for a daily car.
0 to 60 is quicker than that I'm at around 4 without launch control and that is with a set of 18in wheels, with winter tires. Can't wait to throw the 19s with the summer Michelins back on, should make the take off a little quicker.
i think a RWD version would fare well as a comparison to a GT PP2. From a value/proposition to streetable power/performance standpoint. The steering feel/initiate on a car like this x-drive makes this sort of car feel rather emotionless in the mid corner compared to a RWD. Though youve got so much access to mechanical grip on the exit or even down hill/cornering in wet comparably. But i still think RWD captures more of the steering/chassis feel and roll youre looking for when pushing this powerband/torque mid corner from a pure fun/driving characteristic standpoint.
No, BMW engineered tha engine so that the rod bearings fail at 25km, the big ends of the rods themselves break at 20,000 Km, the camshafts crack at 18,000km, and the entire valve train self distructs at 15,000 KM. BMW knows that most people who buy the the cars are stupid and spend tens of thosands of Euros on cars that do not last. Next question, genius?
dont go for this seat colour if you want the M seats. Go for black or cognac, at least in Mexico, there is no price difference which is kind of crazy because people dont know this, and they pick this red color and getting these basic seats, while you could get M seats in cognac or black.
Check the size of the windscreen in both, or just how restricted the view is in the M 2-series cars. Getting from one of these into an M135, or an M440i, is a bit of a shock in this respect. The meagre vertical dimension of the M240i's screen, better described as a vision slit, is clear in the video. This restricts vision arcs noticeably, which is worsened by the width of the A-pillar.
The Mustang is really a class below this car in every department. The BMW is faster, better built, more reliable and doesn’t want to throw you into trees/ditches every time you put your foot down. For fairness I think the mustang looks good though 😊🇬🇧
This is a very different car than the rear wheel drive Mustang. I would say that the M240i entered a market that the Nissan GTR has been sitting in by itself for a long time. Do to being a 4WD Sports car with crazy Tunning potential. Coming in around 3,876lb the M240i is also deceivingly heavy like the GTR R35 which comes in around 3,865 to 3,933 on Google.
