Please, please, please....do his music video of this song. Most of the time I can appreciate a live performance. However, the visuals that compliments his rendition is powerful, and greatly enhance an already stellar performance!
David Draiman is a vocal beast! I saw him in a very small venue so it was cool to see them without all the madness that happens in big stage shows. No autotune simply talent!
Simon and Garfunkel wrote a beautifully classic song! It’s crazy that the original version, the Disturbed version and the Pentatonix version are the same song but the interpretations are different and make the song sound completely different and original!
Not impressed by Pentatonix...took 5 people to do the sane thing David did...their version is ok but I don't get chills or tears listening to their version !😊
i was lucky enough to see him perform this song in front of a shitload of midwestern people in the middle of a field at a concert and see us all brought to tears
Well, he used the voice that was appropriate for the lyrics he was singing during each part of the song. When the lyrics are soft, he's singing soft. When the lyrics ramp up, his voice does too. When the lyrics express rage, so does his voice. It's called, dynamics.
What David does with his voice is remarkable. A lot of professional training, all the guys are such talented musicians. Everything about this performance, behind the scenes too, is brilliant. Great reaction, glad you enjoyed it.
The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is sad resignation. A plea. The Sound of Silence by Disturbed is Dammit, LISTEN! *** The Warning *** "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made." ~ Paul Simon "And the people bowed and prayed, to the golden calf they made." ~ Old Testament
This has to be the BEST review of this song, it cracked me up when you said he could hold that note longer than some people stay in a relationship... love it
That's how timeless the lyrics are. This song was written in 1965, nearly 60 years later the words ring ever more true. Fantastic lyrics and Draiman gives it a voice worthy of those lyrics. Not sure if I like this or the studio version better. The studio version showcases his voice a bit better IMHO. This version let Draiman project emotion to a live audience which he did with aplomb.
This is the absolute best cover ever made. This man’s voice is incredible and he was actually sick with the flu here. Totally incredible performance. 🖤🎶🖤
Kettle drums or timpani... those are the drums that you hear. BTW ... GREAT reaction ! I've been listening to different people react to this all year now. Do yourself a favor and watch the 4K studio version ... the video is DEEP !!! ❤❤❤
The music video is SO much better. You must react to it. The visuals in the video completely explain Disturbed's interpretation of this amazing song. You do not get that with the live version. It is LITERALLY the PERFECT music video with such POWER!
I have followed you for a long time, and I absolutely love your reactions! I would like for you to react to the official version, Disturbed is metal, plus he had a cold, BUT he kept his talent contained 😂😂😂😂 ❤❤❤❤❤
Dude I love your reactions especially to really good vocalists. Your phrases and comments slay me. You can tell you’re really feeling it then you come with this “orange juice” business and other great sayings. Props man.
Someone described the original by Simon & Garfunkel (1964) as a warning to the future; the cover by Disturbed (2015) is the response from the future back to the past. Great song, amazing cover. Weird trivia: The Lincoln Project used it in a political add in 2020 about lockdown during Covid. It was haunting; but it was taken down due to copyrights.
I remember by Simon and Garfunkel back in the '60s. My granddaughter sent me a link of Disturbeds' official video. Then I found Geoff Castelluccis' low bass cover. Love all three.
Now listen to Down With The Sickness to hear what type of music Disturbed is most known for. You'll be shocked that he then produced The Sound of Silence so beautifully.
Actually, I watched an interview with David and he said he had vocal damage during this performance. But he did it anyway. I absolutely LOVE this song. I can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it.
I was 8 years old when Simon and Garfunkel released this song. I loved it the first time I heard it. When I (much later) heard the Pentatonix version, for me that surpassed the original. The first time I heard Disturbed's arrangement/version - this is now my forever favorite version of this song ever. What an awesome arrangement! Thank you for another awesome reaction to an awesome song!!
I knew this reaction was going to be great!!! I was thinking, just wait...just wait... Orange Juice! YES! 🔥 Definitely check out his music video for this song, as others have suggested.
You are too funny😂Every time I listen to this when he growls I hold my fist up and growl right with him😂😂 He is truly intensely talented with a voice that yes is a gift❤
Cuando se toca y araña el alma humana modificandola se está ante una OBRA MAESTRA, SU VOZZZZZ TAN INIGUALABLE, BELLÍSIMA, PODEROSA, NACE DE LO MÁS PROFUNDO DE LOS SENTIMIENTOS. ES INCREIBLE. DEBERÍA SER ESCUCHADA EN TODO EL. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
And David was sick during this performance, that's the wild thing about this video. The man has the power behind his voice, I love that I can go from Down With The Sickness to The Light to Indestructible to A Reason To Fight. I love it, but my brain jukebox looks like a scary math equation trying to solve a black hole.
Watch the live performance with Myles Kennedy and Disturbed.. it leaves me speechless almost every time I hear it. It will melt your brain.. do yourself a favor
Oh man love this version. Just absolutely fantastic. Once I found out this was disturbed I was like 🫨😲🫠 I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to their stuff but it’s pretty much heavy metal. Same people that did “down with the sickness” lmao 🤣 which is just insane!!!
Please react to the live version featuring Myles Kennedy.....it's a true masterpiece!! This one didn't include as much of the big deep drums!! 🎶🎼🎵🥁🥁🥁🥁🔥🔥🔥
I searched and didn't find a reaction to Simon and Garfunkel's version. The others are good, but there's just something about the original. It's good in it's own category.
He’s a trained Cantor ❤❤
Fun fact: the lead singer literally had the flu here and still killllled this performance.
I can tell. It's probably the worst I've heard him sound and he's still the best. So what's that say? He's a freaking legend❤
You could definitely tell in his voice if you're a Disturbed fan. I agree still better than some on their best day.
It was vocal cord damage, an abscess, that he soon after got fixed.
@@amandabearss797 a lesion actually
Indeed. It's reminiscent of Freddie Mercury in Live Aid.
The best cover of any song in history. Enough said. David is amazing.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. David's voice is like a religious experience.
otherworldly, haunting, ethereal... those are always the words that come to mind when I hear him sing this
God given talent!!! ❤❤😮😮
Hard to believe he had a 103° fever during this performance. He was sobl sick with the flu. Amazing just amazing❤
Please, please, please....do his music video of this song. Most of the time I can appreciate a live performance. However, the visuals that compliments his rendition is powerful, and greatly enhance an already stellar performance!

He has one of the most amazing voices! I loved the original, so I was skeptical when they did a remake, but this remake is fire.
Simon and Garfunkel wrote a beautifully classic song! It’s crazy that the original version, the Disturbed version and the Pentatonix version are the same song but the interpretations are different and make the song sound completely different and original!
Perfect way to describe everything this song entails ❤
Not impressed by Pentatonix...took 5 people to do the sane thing David did...their version is ok but I don't get chills or tears listening to their version !😊
That voice, the way the music joins in without taking anything away from David... just an awesome performance....
Iconic song, hauntingly performed...still my favorite cover of this song.
YES!!!!
Haunting is the best word to describe this!!
Epic performance. Total respect for this man. And... .he had a cold or flu!!!❤ Optimus Prime for sure.
He had a vocal cord abscess that surgery soon after corrected. He talks about it a later interview
i was lucky enough to see him perform this song in front of a shitload of midwestern people in the middle of a field at a concert and see us all brought to tears

if you're not moved by this performance we can't be friends. Chills every single time.
Totally agree! Hes amazing!!

One of the greatest covers, ever.

I don’t know why but this song for me paints a picture of people walking around on there phones. “To the Neon God they made ❤❤❤❤

LMAO! You swiped your hand right as a fly flew across my screen. That timing was hilarious. 🤣
My all time favorite alt rock band, that man can sing...........
Kettle drums or timpani... those are the drums that you hear.

The way the song should be sung. With raw emotion.
So glad you are doing this! BTW he won't be talking to you lightly 😂
You need to watch the video for this song!!! So good!!!!
he did about a year or so ago
The video is my favorite. The story fits the song so perfectly. And I love the facial expressions.
It's been said the Simon & Garfunkel Original was the warning, Disturbed's cover was the anger that you didn't listen to the warning.
AMAZING THAT HE WASN'T FEELING WELL DURING THIS PERFORMANCE!!...U MUST DO A REACTION TO THE "VIDEO" OF THE SONG...BRINGS ME TO TEARS!!❤❤❤❤
Dude I love your reactions especially to really good vocalists. Your phrases and comments slay me. You can tell you’re really feeling it then you come with this “orange juice” business and other great sayings. Props man.
David had 103 fever in this performance
This version is so powerful 😮❤

My favortistiest ever song version😂😂😂 love it!!
Fantastic cover!!!!🖤Love Disturbed!!!!
David Draiman is also a classically trained Jewish Cantor. He was very ill during this performance.
I hardly ever like a cover better than the original, but THIS is one. 😎

White men can't jump but they sure know how to damn-well sing. I got the chills.
I'm lucky enough to know 1 of the members of Disturbed. He awesome
There’s another live version with Myles Kennedy doing harmony. It’s glorious.❤😊
I remember by Simon and Garfunkel back in the '60s. My granddaughter sent me a link of Disturbeds' official video. Then I found Geoff Castelluccis' low bass cover. Love all three.

This is one of those songs where the person who covered it did way better than the original!
I prefer this to the original. Great reaction!
Fun fact: David the lead singer is a trained cantor
Oh, Ive missed reaction videos to this song! Greatest cover of all time... Davids voice is legendary....Thank you 🎉
( Go Chiefs !!! )
Great reaction,AB. You certainly are right about David Draiman and his "orange juice"! The man was sick and still slayed this performance.
Iconic performance. Tks for the video!
😂😂😂 What in the Optimus Prime?? I get tears and chills every time I watch this live version!

No disrespect to Simon and Garfunkel but this is the best version ever!!
I never get tired of listening to this cover SMH 🥹
Greatest ever, you won’t know!
There is a very funny parody of Disturbed's Sound of Silence cover, it's by Tim Hawkins.
And David was sick during this performance, that's the wild thing about this video. He was sick at the time he performed this. Watch the original video to see if you can tell the difference....you can't. He is BRILLIANT!!!

Watch the live performance with Myles Kennedy and Disturbed.. it leaves me speechless almost every time I hear it. It will melt your brain.. do yourself a favor

I like all versions. Each is it's own.
The music video to this is pretty cool
I searched and didn't find a reaction to Simon and Garfunkel's version. The others are good, but there's just something about the original. It's good in it's own category.
Can you imagine David Draiman Robert Plant and Bruce Dickinson with Brian johnson That would be WOW
Operatic, trained Jewish gentlemen.
He and Geoff tate have something
hardly anyone stops during this performance btw.
This song got me thru nursing school way back.. it was so inspirational...!!! Check out 'The Light" next. xo
Honestly, better than the original!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
