This is my “reset the system” song. I can listen to it and reaction videos on repeat without messing up my brain. I grew up on the S&G version and it was light & airy, hopeful but a warning. So the first time I heard this version I was just stunned by the change in timbre from the original, and how it changed the feel of the song. Chills & tears - floored. So now? I’m all in on this version. And I’ve listened to both the studio and Conan versions countless times. And I watch reaction videos, loving the joy when new folks discover what David has done with this song.
David Draiman had a lesion on his vocal cord that was extremely painful, but he didn’t want to be a no show so he showed up and showed out man!! He wasn’t pleased with his performance. But millions of people thought it was amazing. Including me. I adore him!
Paul Simon wrote this song (1964). Performed by his band Simon and Garfunkle as a warning for what has become our world. In recent years he also said that "this is Disturbed's song now". He also stated that this version is the anger because nobody heeded the warning.........
I almost thought I was the only one who knew the meaning. Paul was correct. It fits today perfectly and David made it their own. You can feel the meaning.
Yes! Watch the music video for the visuals, you don't need to react to that but you need to see the video for the visuals of the words. Everything in the video is done to tell the story.
David had the flu and high fever. They wanted to cancel but David said no. He had to sit the whole time because of how weak he felt. Listen to the video
Really? I didn't know that he sounded great, I hate to think how many people he may have gotten Sick by showing up to do this but wow what a performance 😀
And apparently, rumour has it that David went ballistic over the fact that the “technical team” tweaked part of his vocals! Whether it’s true or not is another matter!
He's David Draiman. He has a phenomenal voice. Rumors have it that he had the flu when he performed this. A totally different cover of this that is excellent is done by Geoff Castellucci. It's well worth checking out.
Flu and high fever- David Draiman, exhaustion and weakened immune system- Freddie Mercury, torn bloody throat muscles and worn-out vocal cords- John Lennon. These are the signs of a true artist and their willingness to go through a personal sort of hell to insure perfection in any and all performances, truly showcases their Greatness. To All The Legends Of The World. Thank You❤
They took an already iconic and beautiful song and made it about the best cover ever made! Dave’s voice is on another level! It is said that he had the flu when they did this and still belted it out perfectly!
Listen. I am the first in line, for anything with a beat (R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Dancehall, Reggaeton, etc). But Yo. This guy singing...he's intelligent. He can sing his arse off. He was sick when he did this performance. His voice can make bells ring in heaven or hell, which ever pleases you. He speaks eloquently. I am a fan fan. Disturbed is an exception to the rule. Period.
This is the best “COVER” of any song I’ve ever heard. Better than the original which was a big hit in the 60’s. David Draiman’s voice is amazing. Disturbed actually is a “rock” band, but as you see (& heard) they’re very diverse in their musical ability. Check out their music a little deeper. It only gets better. 🖤🎶🖤
The acoustics on that Conan stage were bomb, along with the awareness of how a perfect rendition would affect the listeners... Omg.... Multiple times I've listened to this as well as the formal video and by far the Conan stage has the best offering.
Actually David is just as awesome in the music video ❤ and I believe you should just watch for the heck of it and then you’ll really understand this man is awesome in the studio or live
This song was originally written by Simon and Garfunkel. it was folk music, both versions are good, obviously Disturbed is best lol. I love how you played the song and just sat back listened and took it in, let it play out instead of stopping and starting, like others do.
David Draiman... the man has amazing range and control!! He can go from baritone to tenor...and can put vibrato on the rasp...which is increibly difficult to do. Amazing!! Great reaction Devante!
Yeah and he was sick that night. But not for nothing while I love this live there is value in the video performance artistically. I think you do yourself a disservice by not checking it out. Great reaction 😊
For best possible experience, listen to the original by Simon and Garfunkle. Then Pentatonics. Then down with the sickness. Then re-listen to this live performance. Follow with the music video. The perfection of the studio recording combined with the visual experience of the video is AMAZING!!!
I definitely feel like the live version was better than the video as far the ear goes. If you want a great visual, then you should check out the video.
This was originally an anti war song and for people to communicate nationally and internationally. When I hear David sing it, it feels like a warning about global warming and so many millions of voices not being heard by politicians who also didn't hear to stop having wars. Wars won't matter if there's no one to fight them.
The fact that he was sick when he sang this just proves what a phenomenal artist he is. I've heard this song hundreds of times. But watching reaction videos like yours, makes me feel like it's MY first time. I love this live version. But the original video is SO GOOD! I get goosebumps every time.
Love the live video, it allows the music to linger and echo which just adds so much to this song. It's a beautiful rendition either way. Bravo Disturbed.
If you do not watch the video, you are missing out. The video really provokes emotions. Don't lose out. I can't implore you enough--do not miss this experience. Best I've seen!
Youre right, how someone can sound Better Live than in the studio version is unreal. Davids voice is legendary.... If you want to hear Disturbed's "regular " music, check out Down With the Sickness, live in Germany Another great one is "The Light", if you want to start with something a bit calmer... Great reaction!
Yes this was the most intensely beautiful rendition of one of Simon and Garfunkels best song’s ❤David was so expressive and personalized this song to himself❤
Thank you! I am not the only one who waited for it to turn to rock. Total surprise when it didn't. I know the original and I was pleased with the Is version.
What a haunting rendition. It's very compelling but I will always love Simon and Garfunkels best. Partly because I was young when it was popular and I just loved their music. He did quite well for being sick
You are doing yourself an injustice by not watching the music video and the imaging is just as powerful as David's voice. David Draiman was ill with the flu at the time of this performance and he did it anyway. The reason his voice is so fantastic is because he was vocally trained to become a Cantor...obviously that didn't happen.
The music video/album version has more emotion to it if you ever want to check it. Like, I starts off as observing the state of the world, then asking people why they don’t notice it all then the tone growls “wait, you do notice but you’re ignoring the problem hoping it goes away, and then the “roar” you mentioned here rears up and seems to cry out “HOW. DARE. YOU!” before the song tapers off to the end and fades out.
Do yourself a favor and experience the video version. Not only are the visuals to the song breathtaking but his voice is even more powerful as he was sick in the live performance that you watched. Best cover song I've had the pleasure of listening to.
I saw this on tv watching Conan..and im familiar with original version. ...yet i now always weep when i hear or see Disturbs version. Its a powerful yet beautiful warning Disturbed has given us. Warning us about praying to neon Gods..(false idols)..etc..people. not talking with each other anyymore....this version i think the lead singer..David😮😮..wants us desperately to hear the warnings!
There was one part in the third verse that they used it because they didn't know if he could hit the note because of him being sick. If you look closer at his face, he was really mad about them using it
Dave draymond is a classically trained singer with a 5 octave voice who loves super heavy duty(head pounding) music..his voice is very rare according to most vocal coaches.
The only thing that really matters is that this guy took a popular song from the 60,s and took it through the roof!
It's a legendary performance.
He made a version that resonates to NOW.
It's my favorite version
Paul Simon who wrote and had a hit with it said this is the best rendition he's heard of his song.
There’s was the warning, Disturbs is the anger that no one is heading the warning.
That’s a pretty awesome accolade.
Ciryl Riley sounds good too Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
@marissafontaine5646 exactly how I felt about it.
Paul Simon told David, the lead singer, and the band that it’s their song now.
His name is David Draiman. He's classically trained but still rips that roar like a boss! Disturbed is so underrated.
trained as a Cantor chose rock n roll instead
@@Aravah1887I believe he also comes from a family of Cantors ❣️👋🇨🇦
You are correct, beautiful voice but he can tear a song up with such talent. Underrated, indeed.
I’ve listened to this song over 100 times and still get chocked up and hair stand up on my arms. True talent.
Me too
It's a warning we *should* have heeded long ago.
Love that song.
The original version of this song was a warning.
This version is the anger that we didnt listen to the warning.
And many still not listening and staying silent.
Amen
So much truth in your words.
You need to do yourself a favor and watch the video!! It adds so much more to the meaning of the song and his incredible voice!!
Exactly!! I'm 52 years old, I remember S&M' original version. You nailed it! :)
David Draiman had a lesion on his vocal cord that was extremely painful, but he didn’t want to be a no show so he showed up and showed out man!! He wasn’t pleased with his performance. But millions of people thought it was amazing. Including me. I adore him!
I saw that interview with him and I was gobsmacked❣️❣️👋🇨🇦
Even with his illness, he was still so amazing!
Paul Simon wrote this song (1964). Performed by his band Simon and Garfunkle as a warning for what has become our world. In recent years he also said that "this is Disturbed's song now". He also stated that this version is the anger because nobody heeded the warning.........
This song was ahead of its time, and foreseeing the future.
This has been the anthem of truth in America esp since 2015-16 and still truth.
I almost thought I was the only one who knew the meaning. Paul was correct. It fits today perfectly and David made it their own. You can feel the meaning.
The music video will give you an awesome visual of what the song is saying.
Yes! Watch the music video for the visuals, you don't need to react to that but you need to see the video for the visuals of the words. Everything in the video is done to tell the story.
Your not human if you don't get chills 😢
I still get tears hearing this rendition.
I got chills two times in a row
He is actually classically trained but is lead singer in this heavy metal band.
He’s a classically trained cantor.
This is one of those rare times where the studio version is just as awesome as the live video. I really recommend you watch it. The visuals are crazy.
Saw them live and i swear it's almost a religious experience!!
Draiman isn't sick in the studio version and sounds so good! The visuals are a whole other experience!
The video is insane. Rare yes it is they sound so similar. David has pipes for days.
FYI, David Draiman had been suffering from the flu as he sang this. He's a beast of a singer.
I believe he trained vocally to be a Cantor in the Hebrew faith.
It was a Simon and Garfunkel original but disturbed really took it to a new level
Paul Simon actually called David. He said that's the only version that he's heard that did real justice to the original.
Ever so often, a song is recorded that becomes an epic experience in music. This became that song the moment it was recorded.
Yes, this is true. And he was absolutely furious that they put autotune on him.
@@collettegumbrell8854They out autotune on him. Let's just say he was NOT happy about that.
He had an abscess on his vocal cords that he had surgery to correct. He’s talked about it in interviews since.
I grew up with the original by Simon and Garfunkle, and even I think this guy is amazing.
Cannot deny that his voice is simply amazing love his cover of this song
Definitely was amazing !!
Listen to down with the sickness will shock you @@Imdevantewarner
He's David Draiman. He has a phenomenal voice. Rumors have it that he had the flu when he performed this. A totally different cover of this that is excellent is done by Geoff Castellucci. It's well worth checking out.

To All The Legends Of The World. Thank You❤
The live performance is great. But the music video is also beautifully put together.
Watch and listen to Down With the Sickness. You will not believe it's the same band. HARD.
Listen to uncut version
Yes! the live uncut version in Germany, please...
I think prayer is a better disturbed song. I know that’s not a popular opinion but that’s def worth checking out too.
Seeing dave sing this live was absolutely incredible has stuck in my head and on my playlist for yrs
Disturbed has been bringing out fire for over 20 years, they are an INCREDIBLE band with numerous powerful hits.
You are right though, the live version is better, but the visuals in the official music video are phenomenal too.
They took an already iconic and beautiful song and made it about the best cover ever made! Dave’s voice is on another level! It is said that he had the flu when they did this and still belted it out perfectly!
The shapes of his mouth as he enunciated those powerful words....'nough said. Divinely powerfully perfect.
Powerful powerful version of the original original Simon & Garfunkel song. I’m loving it.
A big yes to Disturbed to cover this song by Paul Simon who wrote and made it a hit in the sixties
Period.
David is a classically trained opera singer, his vocals are amazing.
This is the best “COVER” of any song I’ve ever heard. Better than the original which was a big hit in the 60’s. David Draiman’s voice is amazing. David was trained as cantor . This is hauntingly beautiful.
Distured fans always knew david draiman is an incredible singer
Oh yes you do- the video adds a whole other dimension. The visuals are amazing.
He was suffering from a cold and he did this sitting down. Mad respect. 💯🤘🔥🤘
Actually David is just as awesome in the music video ❤ and I believe you should just watch for the heck of it and then you’ll really understand this man is awesome in the studio or live
Simon and Garfunkle are the original artists
Pretty damn good for a heavy metal band!
Not to mention he had the flu and I believe 103° temperature. ❤
This song was originally written by Simon and Garfunkel. it was folk music, both versions are good, obviously Disturbed is best lol. I love how you played the song and just sat back listened and took it in, let it play out instead of stopping and starting, like others do.
Vocally, this is better than the music video. His voice is wonderful.
The video is special because the graphics explain his words. Singer is David Draiman
David Draiman... the man has amazing range and control!! He can go from baritone to tenor...and can put vibrato on the rasp...which is increibly difficult to do. Amazing!! Great reaction Devante!
Love this song i have it on my daily playlist. The live is pretty amazing where he was sick but on the other one it's even better
They are definitely a hard rock band. They did an amazing job on this cover but most of their original songs are hard rock.
4:14 I love watching reactions of this song simply for this moment!
❤❤me too, and I still get chills!!!🎉😮
Yeah and he was sick that night. But not for nothing while I love this live there is value in the video performance artistically.
I think you do yourself a disservice by not checking it out.
Great reaction 😊
Real instruments - rare to some current music. Real voice - also rare to some music. Real talent - for sure!
I'm so glad I stumbled over this! I haven't heard this song in ages. Normally, I'm not a fan of live performances, but I am blown away by this...
For best possible experience, listen to the original by Simon and Garfunkle. Then Pentatonics. Then down with the sickness. Then re-listen to this live performance. Follow with the music video. The perfection of the studio recording combined with the visual experience of the video is AMAZING!!!
Absolutely 10/10 ❤
Yes you got the best version here. I grew up with the original which my Mum loved. Can't get enough of this version. Pure genius
My favorite version of this song. But also I really like the acapella version of Pentatonix 🥰
I definitely feel like the live version was better than the video as far the ear goes. If you want a great visual, then you should check out the video.
Oh.. this is VERY tame for Disturbed.. they will make you break your own neck headbanging to their music!! New sub for Disturbed! Thank you! xo
Check out their usual sound try "Down With The Sickness". Make sure it's the unedited version@
This was originally an anti war song and for people to communicate nationally and internationally.

I've heard this song so many times and still love it.
The Disturbed version brings me to tears every time!! Omg it was made for him to sing. love love love it. ❤
The video is hypnotizing, just beautiful. The group is heavy rock, the song was was a folk.
You REALLY should see the video, it DOES do it justice ❣️👋👋🇨🇦🇨🇦
David is kind as well as talented. He stopped one of his live concerts to comfort a child of one of his fans because the child was scared
The best version ever, so haunting is from a contestant called Wolf on aussie The Voice. Wolf voice makes this singer, David, sound like snow white.
The video is one of the best orchestrated videos ever.
The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is sad resignation.
The Sound of Silence by Disturbed is Listen DAMMIT!
Thank you! I am not the only one who waited for it to turn to rock. Total surprise when it didn't. I know the original and I was pleased with the
Is version.
I got chills
This and 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash are arguably the two greatest covers in history. My face is a waterfall for both
a great version of a great song
What a haunting rendition. It's very compelling but I will always love Simon and Garfunkels best. Partly because I was young when it was popular and I just loved their music.
He did quite well for being sick
Greatest remake of a song period!
I Love watching the facial expressions on peoples faces when they hear it for the first time, it literally brought me to tears the first time❤️
The music video deepens this even further. Masterpiece
He definitely takes you on a journey. Chills every time.
It is Always best to listen to the live version first
Thank you for your honesty
I waited so many years.
I've seen Disturbed perform this song live, it was an amazing experience.
You need to hear their older stuff. Its all Epic!
His name is David Draiman. He is classically trained. He has a fantastic voice. Please react to Don't Tell Me, Hold on to Memories. They are great!
You are doing yourself an injustice by not watching the music video and the imaging is just as powerful as David's voice. ❤well put!!! 🎉🎉
Your reaction was awesome!! Dont even need to see the studio version. However, the video is beautiful! Please watch.
Love Simion & Garfuncle, I've heard vy another version, didn't care 4 it, but this 1 did it justice. Kept the overall sound, but made it his own.
Do yourself a favor and experience the video version. Not only are the visuals to the song breathtaking but his voice is even more powerful as he was sick in the live performance that you watched. Best cover song I've had the pleasure of listening to.
Oh, bud, that live performance as good, but the original video . . . . you WILL get chills.
I go back and forth all the time on if I prefer the music video version or the Conan version. Both are fantastic in their own way.
Disturbed does not believe in using auto tune, he is classically trained.
Its like heaven has opened up when you hear this version..nailed it.. amazing ❤
Amazing - no doubt see the video!
