    I took myself off Metformin and began taking Berberine exactly one year ago. I combined that with a keto diet, the Wim Hof Method, OMAD, and acupressure techniques. My waistline has gone from 52 inches down to 44 inches. I had no idea about the nootropic benefits. That's good news. Thanks.

    I’m on dihydroberberine 250mg which I’m told is 5 times more absorbable than berberine. I also take silymarin. I will start taking it with coconut oil. Thanks for your information.

    Berberine came to my Attention in ‘21
    after diagnosed in ‘20 w Type ll diabetes.
    It’s a bit pricey, sadly. In my Mid 60’s I had diarrhea, low energy, gained 25lbs and just didn’t feel my active self. That’s All reversed now. 2-3 mile fast walks daily, MSM keeps my joints, ligaments good, ended my Rotator Cuff injury. 🎉 Dihydroberberine 15 minutes before Carb intake. And I use Milk Thistle. Cheers. I feel like an herb/nootropics pharmacy.

    I have tinnitus from either theJ and J vaccine , long covid and or chronic Lyme
    I have been using Berberine (250mg ) before dinner and have been improving
    I did find information about Berberine treating chronic Lyme
    Perhaps because it’s an antibiotic
    I’m finding that my blood sugar does not spike as much upon waking also

    Thank you very much for this update. Very interesting that Berberine is an MAO inhibitor, which is needed to help with toxoplasma gondii, plus it has the ability to remove other parasites by breaking up biofilm.

    Thank you, this is the first I've heard of the additional benefits of berberine in relation to dopamine and serotonin. I have rather extreme ADHD and was wondering if this should be stacked with any other supplement to boost dopamine and if so, are you able to recommend something in particular? Great information, thank you.

    You said that people with heart problems should ot take Berberin. However i see tons of studies that say that it helps with heart problems, and is as efficient for lessening arrhythmia(especially combined with C & D vitamin, along with magnesium), also it greatly reduces atrial fibrillation, and is as good or better than the best known drug for it(which has nasty side effects). Very good results on treating congestive heart failure, and this has been verified in a lot of studied. In general if somoene has these heart problems its good to take Berberin, not something you should avoid.

    Hi David, what are your thoughts on using berberine as a preworkout? The increase in catacholamines would be nice, but I hear it reduces some of the beneficial adaptations of exercise - particularly increases in VO2 max. I'm not sure if Metformin does this and berberine doesn't. I don't have any issues like diabetes, I'm just in it for the stimulation effects. Thanks for all you do! I learn a lot from you.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Рік тому +6

      Jacob, I don't think you would get any special benefit for your workout from using Berberine. There are other better options as a pre-workout supplement.

    Thank you so much for finding all this info. 500mg 3 times a day is for concentrated berberine. If we use oregon grape root or other whole herb with berberine, how much would suggested doese would be?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Рік тому +11

      Berberine is an alkaloid extracted from plants. It is not 'concentrated'.
      But if you wanted to get your Berberine by using Indian Barberry (tree turmeric) or Oregon Grape you'd need to send it to the lab and have it tested to know how much Berberine you were getting.
      And that amount would vary depending on where it is grown, how it is harvested, the time of year it is harvested and several other factors the are needed to produce this alkaloid in each plant.

    What about dihydroberberine?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Рік тому +13

      Joe, dihydroberberine is an extended release form of Berberine which is supposed to make it more bioavailable. Clinical studies from the looks of it don't back that claim up.

    Since berberine stops the breakdown of choline should this be cycled, like huperzine a?
    If I was using this just for fat loss would you recommend the same dose of 500mg x3?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Рік тому +13

      Berberine is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor but NOT on the same level as Huperzine-A. It has a short half life which is why you need to use 500 mg 3-times per day to get its full benefit.
      Same dosage for whatever you are using Berberine for.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  7 місяців тому +2

      Berberine is safe to use long-term for pre-diabetes just like Metformin. I like taking it with Milk Thistle extract because it can be hard on your liver if used long-term. Milk Thistle helps negate those effects,

    I just started it today. I got hot and itchy very quick but it passed. I also took the full dose and a Whole Foods energy shot. So I don't know which cause the itchy hotness. If you take an SSRI like Lexapro ok?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Рік тому +5

      Kym, chances are high that it was the energy shot that caused that. Berberine will lower blood sugar and blood pressure however. But it is not contraindicated with SSRIs.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Рік тому +6

      Plants containing Berberine have been used in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine. They did not have the technology that we have today to extract individual compounds from these plants. But they were wise enough to know and use the plants that contained the highest amount fo berberine.

      Jimmy, Berberine is an alkaloid extracted from plants such as Indian Barberry (tree turmeric), Oregon Grape and goldenseal. If it's one of those plants made into a tea you will not get the same benefit as you would from a Berberine supplement extracted from those plants.

Those reviews on my website contain dozens of clickable links to peer-reviewed clinical studies for each supplement.

      Deb, Berberine inhibits cytochromes P450 (CYP3A4, CYP2D6 and 2C9) in your liver. So find out if the drug uses any of those to metabolize that drug. Because it can cause a substantial increase in the bioavailability of certain drugs and nootropics. Which can be dangerous.
